The majority of the vigilante groups and organisations whose mission is to hunt down or hurt child predators are just sadistic people looking for easy targets. Their intent is not to protect the vulnerable rather they intend to find those who are vulnerable to their attacks.

No one in society will ever stick up for these predators, not only can these vigilante groups get away with more violence and/or entrapment they would probably earn the admiration and camaraderie of others. It doesn’t bother me when people do this but for fuck’s sake stop acting all holier than thou and pretend that you are doing society a favor.

Edit: I am not referring to shows like β€œto catch a predator” or any civic groups who collect information on suspected predators and pass it to law enforcement. I am taking about groups who dispenses vigilante justice against people they identify as predators.

Group Policy - What's the best way to lock down an organisation?

Hey all.

I'd appreciate some input. I'm potentially going to have to re-do our GPO's after I've inherited some pretty bad practice. Right now we have a 'one-size-fits-all' GPO across our organisation (it's education).

So, my plan is to go through and individually create the GPO's which have been setup on the main GPO; so it gives me some freedom to add and remove parts without changing the entire domains GPO...

At the moment, most stuff is locked down for Domain Users. Although this is ultra-secure, it's not ideal for the end users. At the moment, we can't even install apps like Teams or OneDrive because Domain Users don't have access to their own AppData. So I need to make that possible.

What are some best practices for GPO's - how do most places balance access with security?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

An F1 driver calls a fellow driver a β€œMongol” during a practice race. The Mongol identity organisation asks him for a public apology. r/formula 1 is divided over whether the word β€œmongol” is slur or not.

Context: The driver is from the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, the world β€œmongol” is a well-known slur referring to people with down syndrome.

From Wikipedia: > Mongool ("mongoloid") is a common insult, referring to Down syndrome. Its diminutive mongooltje is often used as a somewhat more neutral or affectionate term for people with Down syndrome, although it is not considered politically correct. Kankermongool ("cancer-mongoloid", idiomatically "fucking retard") is a common variation: see kanker. Some people use mogool. Also frequently used in Afrikaans.

Edit: Many dutch people are saying it isn't a racial slur, but a slur for people with disabilities. I have amended this part of my post.

From the letter they sent to F1: "

[Contest] New year, new organisation

[Closed]

Hi there!!

I am back at my bs. I was absent for a long time here even tho i really love this community. But i was in a pretty bad spot mentally for quite a while. I feel like I am doing somewhat better right now so Im back, hopefully to stay.

One of the things that very much worsened my state of mind was the huge mess my apartment was. When im in a black depressing hole I cant get out of bed and everything somehow still gets so messy and then I wont leave my bed even more.

But one of my very best friends saved me and helped me clean and organise EVERYTHING in my apartment. What motivated me most was the fact that we reorganised my desk, which is my creative space. I got me some fancy new organisers now and now i even have space for MORE art supplies.

Anyhows I wanted to pay this forward! He helped me so much and now i wanna help one of you here! Got anything that would help you organise any part of your life better? Tell me about it! I wanna gift someone something to help clear something in their life thats currently not as organised as it could be.

Rules:

β€’ DBAD

β€’ Tell me about what would help you and if you have multiple wishlists tell me where to find it

β€’ Include the phrase "yay organisation!" In your comment for the raffler

Im glad to be back :) contest ends sometime this week when i have time to get to it. At the latest on friday. I hope you all are having a good new year <3

What bizarre locations or organisations do you have in your world?

Regardless of what kind of setting it is, every world has something that doesn't quite fit the mold, something that stands out in a strange or unpredictable way. This can be something that doesn't seem to be in line with existing concepts, or is something particularly wacky or fantastical. Whether it's something that was added as a joke, a fun addition or a way to show off something stranger in your setting, it'll be applicable here.

What's the weirdest your world can get?

  • How does this location/organisation stand out against others in the setting?
  • Why does it stand out in the way it does? Is there a reason for it to be so different or unusual in-universe?
  • How do the people of your setting view it?

Common courtesy rules apply;

  • If you make a post, try to leave a reply or two in return, just to get conversation flowing and give people a chance to give more details or provide more information on something you found interesting.
  • If someone leaves a comment on your post, do them the solid and check theirs out. If you can, ask something about their post too, or make an observation, just to let them know you read their post and found it interesting.
  • If the posts get long, break them up into paragraphs or section them up. This'll make it easier to read and is more likely to get people looking. Massive walls of text can be pretty daunting without breaks in between paragraphs.

Thoughts on the PCB as an organisation and drawing comparisons to NZC

These are my thoughts on the PCB as an organisation having watched them closely for over 10 years now. Just a heads up, they aren't kind words. This is, of course, only my opinion as a NZ cricket fan observing from abroad.

Nurturing Talent

PCB are a hopeless organisation. Always have been, but hopefully won't always will be. They have the best talent in the world at their disposal, yet very few of them reach their potential.

The days of exceptional talents in NZ underachieving - guys such as Fleming, Oram, Harris, Astle, etc. - were hard to watch. Having watched NZ successfully nurture their best talent in the 2010s, I finally got to see players blossom into the beautiful players they were destined to be. Henry Nicholls would have averaged around 30 and battled his way through to 25-30 tests had he debuted 5-10 years earlier.

In my opinion, if someone like Azhar Ali played for NZ, he would be averaging 50+ and would be considered one of the best players in the world. His mental strength and application is second to none. The system simply isn't good enough to support players like him in each stage of their development.

Look at Henry Nicholls for example. He was a meme player at one point. But the systems and coaching in NZ cricket are now at the level where his talent can be fully realised. Even Tom Latham is a huge overachiever.

Yes, Pakistan cricket have an excuse of being abroad, but they shouldn't use it as an excuse. They should look at the Australian Rugby League team, the 'Melbourne Storm', for innovative ways to succeed as an organisation. They look for character that suits the playing/training system they have designed, and prioritise it over talent. Some of their best players wouldn't even cross the radar of 90% of the other teams in the competition, simply because their surface level talent isn't exceptional.

Going back to Azhar Ali, I am adamant he has the character to be a 50+ average player. Forget his talent. Once you get to the international level, what you did at FC class level is almost irrelevant. You only have to look at a player like Marnus Labuschagne to see the work an incredible system can do to a player with good character.

Bad selection policies

The PCB should stop looking for the next big talent, and instead work out what the fuck they stand for as an organisation. I can't work out what the team/organisation are trying to achieve. Is it to win matches? Win series? Be the best team in the world? Win ICC events? He

Just broke down to my mom about child abuse in the organisation

Ok sorry for the rant but... a conversation ensued after watching a documentary about the Yorkshire ripper and seeing he became a JW!! I was disgusted, so I showed my PIMI mom and said how can they accept a man like this into their organisation yet shun people for minor things like smoking, having sex, doing drugs or just changing your beliefs?!?! She said this was out of love LOLL.

And then I basically broke down in tears to her about the systemic child sex abuse and the Australian royal commission and how much this has upset me to find out. Newly POMO and this is the first time I’ve spoke about anything I’ve found out.

Well her reaction was awful, she was like why are you interested in this now? I said I’m interested in lots of things. I started talking about the elders handbook and the two witness rule which she didn’t believe were true wtf?!

I was crying at this point just asking how can they keep thousands of cases hidden from authorities!!! and she was saying β€œso you believe this about uncle ....” (a close family friend who’s an elder) and I was just like WHAT?! So manipulative Then she had the audacity to say well it’s imperfect men so what do you expect and that other religions have worse CSA. So I said but you’re meant to be the one true religion?! How can they encourage keeping files on pedophiles and not reporting them... you get the gist I was in hysterics basically.

She said I should speak to elders about it I said why would I do that?! These are the same people that enforce these rules.

But yeah now I’m feeling so down and feel like I just burnt a bridge here, no idea how I can get through to her about this. For me the ARC alone was enough to convince me that I want nothing to do with the JW’s. I feel like if she’s not fazed by the CSA then I’ll never be able to get through to her on the questionable doctrines etc. How in their hearts can they justify any of it?!?

Thanks for listening 😞

How is JP Morgan London as a tech organisation?

I'm being offered a senior role at JP Morgan in London, and while the compensation is very tempting (more about this later), I'm having some doubts about it. Firstly, when I decided to switch to a new role, what I was really hoping to find is a product that has challenges around scale. However, from the sound of it, this role I'm being offered involves setting up a fairly new team within the organisation. I was told they like to hire me to help build an effective team and team culture. This is also interesting to me, but it doesn't sound like I'd be exposed to more system design at scale. I'm thinking however, that with a company like JPM, I can surely find that... eventually?

What they're offering is very tempting, however. I was originally looking for something between Β£70-80K but they're offering Β£100K. I'm very happy with this to be honest, but I'm wondering if I should still negotiate. Maybe not the basic salary itself but other things like benefits, etc.?
