Oodles

Sony did not reveal all of the details regarding the work done on the I/O and some extra details with regards to the codec options, as the following user on Twitter just revealed, oodle seems to be part of the devkit:

Oodle is indeed a very powerful data codec developed by RAD Game tools that can reduce textures size by 50% according to them. RAD Game tools are used in many game shipped nowadays (Bink video codec for ex..). Oodle seems to complete Kraken by providing the most efficient and fastest method for data compression. Now we just need to think about the I/O complex built on PS5 combined to a hardware accelerated codec to understand that PS5 is a beast.

According to the codec and the tweet, the effective texture throughput gears towards 17.46GB/s and makes it closer to what Mark Cerny mentioned about the push towards 22 GB/Sec

Super exciting, it seems that Sony is posed to keep that huge advantage on the overall performance of the system here. What do you think? how this will translate in terms of experience too?

I've seen scrunchies pop up a few times on r/sewing and just a couple days ago I saw some fancy ones at target. (Some of them were $10!) Seems like scrunches could be coming back into fashion? If there is interest in a scrunchy trades I'd make up some samples/sets to offer but for now I just curious to see if there is any interest at all.

Edit: Added some samples! Experimented with some bi-color scrunchies. I like the look. Might do more Bi-colored one in the future. Almost all of my fabric is quilting cotton. Width (fluffiness) of scrunchies can vary depending on the size of my scrap. I will try to make the desired fluffiness level. Feel free to ask questions! :)

Edit 2: I would love to trade for some decorative items or jewelry, but would be open to other stuff as well.

I live in the US so US trades would be preferred. May consider Canada (I'm close to the border) if its inexpensive enough. International shipping can be expensive.

It seemed to be a very popular opinion here after the first couple episodes that the experts made a mistake by not matching Brett/Christina and Henry/Olivia. It also seemed to be a popular opinion that Henry and Olivia were sweet people, and Brett and Christina were bad news. The general opinions on these people seem to have shifted a lot since we've gotten to "know" them more with people turning on Henry and Olivia more and more.

Those of you that thought a switcheroo was in order -- do you still think so?

I'm a trans guy and I inject testosterone weekly, I have a ton of syringes and needles as a result. I'm about to start my first grow and I've been researching heavily as I wait for my spores and other supplies to arrive, I don't currently have a butane or alcohol torch/lamp and wouldn't mind getting ahold of one if need be but I was wondering if I could bring some of my sterile/packaged needles into my SAB and (assuming they are able to fit the syringes I receive) replace the original needle with a sterile one without having to flame sterilize? Or is flame sterilization just an inevitability?

As someone who believes strongly in animal adoption, my friend’s last three dogs (Thunderbolt, Ashtray, and John) have been rescues from the SPCA.

The first two were already senior pups when my friend got them, and have since passed on to the Canine Netherworlds. My friend still has John, who is getting to the ragged end of life’s mortal coil. Although they were good enough animals — fewer than three maulings between them — they, like 95% of their peers at the dog pound, were mentally unstable pit bulls.

Now, neither me nor my friend got anything against the breed. They can be fiercely loyal as all get-out. Only one of the maulings was against an innocent (the mail man, I know, big cliché). The other was against a known adulterer in the neighborhood. [And my friend suspected that the injured mail man might have been involved in some hanky panky, too.]

But my friend has always had a certain affinity for the elegant poodle. And now that my friend’s kids are big (not old, just unusually big), my friend thinks that her oversized kiddos should have a gentle dog who is allowed to be in the same room as them. I know that poodles have health problems, but so did the pit bulls. The pits also had a bad habit of getting into the cactus patch behind my friend’s house, necessitating thousands of dollars in needle extractions. (And don’t get me or my friend started about the Gila Monster incident.)

Unfortunately, poodles almost never show up at the city dog pound. And my friend is not just looking for one poodle, he/she is actually looking for several.

So, in brief, does anybody know where my friend can find oodles and oodles of fluffy white poodles?

My plans fell through this morning, and so I'm looking vacantly out the window, having coffee, staring at the wall, staring at my laptop, etc. Idling.

This is similar to what I would do if hungover (assuming I could make it out of the bed), with the notable difference that I'm actually enjoying this quiet moment of doing nothing, rather than suffering physically, mentally, financially, and with the knowledge that my day would be a write-off.

I, at least, I think think most others play these to escape. Getting stuck in ugly clothes, looking like an idiot afraid if her own shadow who won't kiss a guy (much less anything else) because I don't have enough diamonds really sucks.

It's quarantine. It's not like people are rolling in expendable income right now.

I do appreciate the free day passes and the one premium choice, but too often you end up using it on a worthless choice, or one where to get anywhere you have to make 2 or 3 premium choices in a row.

Rant over

So I had a chest CT with contrast looking for signs of vasculitis under my Rheumatologist. I have a history of positive ANA, but currently that looks fine. During the CT they saw a thyroid nodule so I went in for a sonogram. (Tons of fun doing this during quarantine)

My sono results are tons of nodules on both sides. One 1.3 cm that needs biopsy. Obviously no Endos are open currently so I have no idea when I will get FNA. I have requested a TSH panel and will hopefully get that done this week.

I have extreme cold intolerance and exhaustion—one causes the other and I sleep like the dead for hours. It is kind of scary honestly. My hair is falling out, totally unexplainable weight gain, and peripheral neuropathy. The cold intolerance and exhaustion I’ve been complaining about for my whole life, the hair loss and weight gain is new over the last year.

Past TSH 2 years ago was deemed “fine” and neurology and rheumatology are stumped and my appointment with an Immunologist in Boston is on hold until June—or September who knows.

Aside from the bloodwork, does anyone have any ideas on what else I can look at under these crazy conditions? I am both thrilled something has finally been found and pissed beyond words this was never taken seriously.
