I'm actually asking for some advice on cool online stores here that sell what I'm terming 'chic cheap' clothes for females, this is for my SO as her bday is coming up.
I already know the well knowns like Zara, H&M or Gap but do you know of any other I should check?
If there were fashion stores that did stuff like Etsy that would be perfect but had a hard time finding those.
I'm looking for mostly tops or accessories mostly and looking for a certain bohemian/ summer chic styling but welcome to any other suggestions.
Toss a coin to your redditor
Edit: looking for fashion centred sites that aren't amazon or rakuten tbh, unless you have a fav supplier listed on one of em
Edit 2: bunch of great ideas wwrw listed below with various western and Japanese style influences, I went with asos.com because it was more her style and give you free shipping to Japan from UK if you purchase over Β£60
www.istyle99.com Offers: Anarkali Suit, Patiala Suit, Straight Suit, Sarees, Kuties, Mobile, Mobile Screen Guard, Leggings, Online Shopping, Shopping Online, online shopping sites.
Donβt buy from Amazon. Jeff Bezos doesnβt need your money. He really doesnβt.
Even if the products are made overseas, support these fine Canadian retailers instead. I am most familiar with western businesses, so feel free to add your own favorites from Toronto, Montreal, etc. Although we all love small and local shops, itβs hard to argue with the selection and service offered by larger businesses.
Electronics, TVs, computers: Visions PrimeCables London Drugs
Books etc. Bolen Books Indigo (formerly Chapters)
Outdoor gear Valhalla Pure Outfitters Atmosphere (owned by Canadian Tire)
For example, after getting burned with some surprise seaming and ruffles, I now know that I need to look at black clothing in a lighter color to get a full picture of the details before I make a purchase.
I already know my mental illnesses donβt help my impulsivity (lol), but Iβm really awful about buying things that I may never even wear. I do have a fashion/style hobby in conjunction to my Instagram account, and I often find myself feeling like I NEED something for an aesthetic. I almost obsess over a thing until I get it. But, Iβm nowhere NEAR having enough money to splurge, and it can really poorly effect how much I can save. My bf has tried helping me spend less before, and is exasperated when ANOTHER package comes in for me (itβs still happening, lol). I just need more foolproof help to stop feeling like I need another thing and another thing and another thing. I feel ashamed of myself to points of great distress whenever I order another thing.:(
EDIT: Just wanted to say that Iβm reading through all of the replies, and OMG, thank you all so much for not only validating my struggle (I know weβre all here for similar reasons, but still), but giving me some awesome tips I actually hadnβt thought of before. You guys are the BEST.π each one of you whoβve answered! I feel much less ashamed and isolated.
The Irish Times has just released a pretty expansive list of Irish sites for anyone who wants to shop online and also help support local business. Definitely worth looking at especially with new measures coming in tomorrow that might limit people shopping in actual shops.
The Irish Times - The best Irish websites for online shoppers

Hello,
I moved to Finland end of May for work in the Inari region. I don't have good winter clothes yet, so I was wondering what online shops are good in Finland. I will be working in snow and temperatures below -20Β° celcius. What do you recommend?
EDIT: I corrected the temperature from 20 to minus 20. You all understood what I meant luckily, thank you @EtelΓ€-Pohjanmaa for informing me of my mistake
Just in case you ever forgot you were living in the 'countryside'
I just recently filed a complaint and successfully received a refund for a problematic order that Shopee was giving me hell about. The order was severely delayed by 2 months and arrived damaged. The best resolution they could come up with was for me to physically drop off the item at MLhuillier to avail of the free return and then they need to receive and inspect the item before even processing my refund. I refused to accept that lame excuse of a "resolution". There was no way in hell I was going out in the middle of this pandemic just to return a measly item. At the same time, it didnβt sit well with me that they were gonna get away easily with this disservice. As a last attempt (which in retrospect shouldβve been one of my primary attempts), I decided to email DTI to see if they would step in and assist me. Lo and behold, they did, and amazingly fast at that. Within mere days, I received the refund in my shopeepay. I was able to accomplish more in those 3 days of airing my side to DTI compared to the 3 months that Shopee had me going around in circles.
So if youβre waiting for a sign, this is it. File that complaint to DTI. Iβm impressed we actually have a government agency that is efficient!
[email protected] for anyone who needs it. Just send them a narration and timeline. Back it up with all the photo evidence that you can. If you canβt reach an amicable settlement, a virtual mediation will be the next step.
Can a value-added tax used to fund #UBI make shopping online (e.g., Amazon) feel more like you're shopping locally knowing that part of the #VAT you're paying will now come directly back into your local community via UBI?
For starters, a monthly UBI of $320 per month (or $3840/yr) for all adults 18 years and older (209 million in the US) can be fully funded with a 10% value value-added CONSUMPTION tax (half of what most European countries are charging) on ONLY non-basic goods and services to cover the $0.8 trillion cost (according Andrew Yang's calculations) with no VAT charged on purchases of basic goods (food, clothing, housing, healthcare).
With the average amount spent on non-essentials per year at $697/mo per adult, people will pay an average of $70 in VAT per month to net $250 per month (or $3000/yr) from UBI. This would mean that every town of 100k adults will get a net and direct cash infusion of $300 million each and EVERY year to spur economic growth.
The rich (e.g., the majority shareholders of Amazon, Facebook, Google, Apple stock) are likely to pay more in VAT than the poor to fund UBI because the rich (by personal choice) buy more expensive goods, brands, and services than the average person and buy them in greater quantities. Any rich person can choose to buy the same goods and services purchased by the average person if they donβt want to pay more in VAT than the average person. At the same time, people who are poor and spend all their money on basic goods and services (food, clothing, housing, healthcare) pay $0 in VAT.

I found myself online shopping a lot more lately. Iβm so anxious and irritate with everything even though nothing is wrong at all. I buy stuff online so I have something to look forward to. Kind of toxic? Or is it okay? After stuff got delivered to me I would go back to irritate mood. So weird.
Thanks. Question all in title.
A lot of us are avoiding going out to do shopping in person and do our shopping online instead.
Where do you like to shop online for kitchen goods and for ingredients? What's the draw? Low prices? Great selection? Fun design?
And are any of you getting your groceries delivered? From the local supermarket or a separate service? Is anyone doing a monthly box of specialty items? How's that working? Any delivery problems recently?
If you're looking for a car online (craigslist/Facebook particularly), you'll get a lot of cars priced at $1,234. It's usually people trying to sell their "collectable" 1987 Dodge Omni for $16,000 and just hit the first four numbers on the keyboard.
This tip is a pain in the ass if you're looking for a sub $2000 car.
Itβs not my intent to trivialize or objectify people, but when strolling through OLD, Iβm reminded of when I was buying a car.
Is the make and model visually appealing? We all have wear-and-tear marks, but is the mileage really that detrimental? Had a bad experience with a certain type? Better to avoid that similarity this time. Heard good thinks about a particular feature? Add that to the βwantsβ list.
So you like to go off-roading and have a high enough undercarriage that sand/dirt arenβt limiting, but why are you searching for another truck/Jeep? Like to have a gun/fishing rod/kayak/bike rack? Why does the other person need one if you already have one? Is it too jammed full that sharing isnβt an option? Itβs okay not to share if duel interest isnβt there.
Are you a self-starter? Or are jumper cables needed? What if I need the jumper cables? Or are the jumper cables too fried from the past and have been too busy to replace them?
Any other comparisons to lighten the seriousness of OLD?
I absolutely hate buying things online and do everything I can to buy in store even if it costs slightly more.
I hate paying a bunch of money and then being at the whims of delivery services. It sucks buying something then having to wait a week or more to get it. Checking the tracking and hoping delivery companies don't fuck up. I like buying something and walking out with it so much more. If the difference is anything less than $100 id gladly pay it as a convenience charge to actually physically have my item after I paid for it.
Getting to see what your actually buying is great too. Buying online you never know till it gets there.
Plus I'm actually one of the few people on earth left who actually likes going out and leaving my house every once in a while I guess. I get bored very fast being at home and being able to go out and go to the store to buy something you want/need is enjoyable to me. Sitting at home all day, ordering delivery so you never have to leave your house for food, buying stuff on Amazon so you never have to leave your house for other items... that sucks to me. Idk why everyone's so focused on never leaving their house nowadays.
Before corona, I never really trusted buying expensive parts via sites in Pakistan, and only used them for window shopping and comparing prices, mostly to show them to the guy I was trying to haggle to give me a better deal. But now for obvious reasons, I need to buy parts online. Currently going to use Computer Zone, and KZone. Would really appreciate any recommendations or warnings
Or what is on your wishlist?
There seems to be a huge discrepancy between in store prices and online prices.
I donβt mean shop around online to different retailers for the product (although that is never a bad idea) but that you should check the website for the store you are currently in for whatever youβre purchasing because there is a very good chance the online price is cheaper.
This ranges from major purchases like appliances to simple things like clothes. A few stores that Iβve personally seen this in is Staples, The Childrenβs Place and Carterβs.
Generally if you show the cashier the online price for the item, they will honor it.
Hi guys, I'm just going to paste what I emailed to them because it pretty much sums it up.
"Hi guys, I thought I'd let you know there's problems with your vendor security. This is the third time I've had my credit card info stolen after purchasing items from Alt Smoke. The first two times I couldn't pinpoint it. The third time I used a Privacy card which basically makes a single-use credit card for the vendor you're shopping at, which means I have an Alt Smoke ONLY credit card number.
Today I received notice of a fraudulent charge at Lowes where someone tried to use my Alt Smoke only card. Privacy does not let you use your vendor-specific cards anywhere else, and I have not and do not shop at Lowes.
I'm not a high volume purchaser or anything so the lack of my business won't hurt you, but I'm afraid I cannot continue shopping through you guys because of this sustained issue and I feel it's my civilian duty to warn other shoppers. "
