Who’s all holding still and averaging down while you can?? Green tmo?
Hi everyone, So I posted awhile back in December trying to identify some strange things that were happening in my friend and I’s apartment. You can view original post here Venus Post So, since my last post I have done a few things:
Now, we were presented with a wait-and-see what happens kind of situation, and then acting accordingly from there. For the past month or so, everything seemed to be fine. Nothing out of the ordinary, and eventually we even forgot about the whole thing in general.
Then, we started hearing a weird noise outside that sounded kind of like an intermittent buzzing or hum towards the back of the house wear the bathroom window is located. Houses male weird noises all the time so I told my friend not to worry about it because there is nothing in that little “alleyway” on the side of the house besides overgrown plants and an air conditioning unit.
A couple days later I was smoking a cigarette at night when I started thinking about what that could have been, so I go around the house to check it out. When I turned the corner I saw a metal bench that wasn’t there a couple weeks ago around the time I made the first post and checked the house inside and out.
A bench is no big deal, especially when you’re renting a house the owner is gonna store some shit without you knowing. The thing that weirded me out was where it was placed when there are a ton of places it could be put. It was intentionally put right up against the raised house right under our bathroom window. I took a pic of it because something about it rubbed me the wrong way. Bench
The thing that weirded me out is that when a grown ass man like me stands on it, you’re at the perfect height to try to sneak a peak through the tiny cracks in the bathroom window’s old curtain. When I could see through the cracks I felt a knot in my stomach, both of us get a strange feeling whenever showering or using the toilet as if being fully exposed. I don’t know if that’s wh... keep reading on reddit ➡
My little sister and I live in the same city. She goes to college and I’m a SAHM with three kids (3F, 3F, 4M). Her school sent everyone home for online classes last March and it’s been that way since. However, she has a yearlong internship in the city that started in August and she asked if she could stay at my place, which I was fine with. I didn’t even ask her to pay rent because I know all her internship money is going to pay off her student loans. However, since she’s been here full time, we’ve been having a lot of problems with her.
We had a spare guest room for her but it was at the exact opposite end of our house from our router in the basement. She’s been complaining that the internet is not great in there and bugging us about switching with the kids playroom which has a Ethernet port, but my husband and I shut that idea down. We didn’t want to disrupt our kids lives anymore than the pandemic had already done and the guest room is much smaller. We also have a built in white board and LEGO table in the playroom so it wouldn’t be easy to switch rooms.
She does her own chores like her laundry and cleaning her dishes but if I ask her to help cook a meal or to watch my kids occasionally when I need to go run an errand she refuses saying she’s too busy. She doesn’t like children and basically just avoids/ignores my kids at home so it’s weird for them. Final straw was after a month in, she came downstairs one day while my kids were watching tv and running around playing and screamed at us that she was in a meeting and she was sick of us making loud noises all day. I told her she was ungrateful and she need to move out immediately. She tried apologizing afterwards but my husband and I had it with her. We’ve been no contact for about a couple months now and I’m wondering if I’m the asshole?
Yeah, right back at you kid. Its Gojira by the way \m/
I have noticed the sick days issue becoming background noise. I feel that this is a very important tool that is missing from our fight to get numbers down In our pandemic response. As a industrial worker and safety rep everyday is a struggle to get people to properly wear their masks and follow other protocols. I try to encourage people to stay home and get tested. But it is a losing effort when you lose a full days wage. Management is indifferent and offers no support. Please bring this sick day issue to forefront everywhere you can. It is something that we must keep the attention on.
Context: I live in an apartment complex that is mostly filled of younger single people. It's pretty obvious when moving in here that that is the population in this community. My neighbors just moved in with a baby. Now, I don't know much about kids. But I do know babies cry..... but this just seems next level. And its disturbing my sleep and although I am sympathetic to them being new parents, I didn't choose to have a baby so do not feel like I should have to live through this
My goal here isn't to get anyone in trouble but for the apartment complex to allow one of us to switch units (and I am willing to be the one who moves). They just won't do that without a record of the noise complaints, and I am not sure if filing them is going to far.
Edit for things being mentioned a lot: I do not think only young single people are allowed to live here, everyone has a right to move here. I was just painting a picture of the type of apartment it was. Also, the reason for the complaint is because my apartment complex won't allow me to move without filing a formal noise complaint. Otherwise it costs a full months rent to break a lease and sign a new one.
Edit 2: In the USA, formal noise complaint with the management company not the police. Couple will be notified I filed it and management company will do an investigation and if they deem the noise is excessive, will allow me to move. I don't think they will face negative consequences however if they get several complaintaints it is possible. They won't from mine alone though
Update: saw the mom in the hallway and said "hey I know you have a new baby but is there anything that can be done to dampen the crying noise. It sounds like her crib is against my wall and I'm having trouble sleeping". Mom said "oh I wish! Babies cry so much, I'm exhausted too" ..... then she dipped inside fast. So not really sure what to do with that. Wasn't rude to me but also wasn't apologetic and didn't offer to try anything.
