Not sure if this is unpopular where you guys live, but from my viewpoint I see this a couple times a year on the news and people applaud it and it makes me so angry.
The whole “star football player student asks girl with Down’s Syndrome to the homecoming dance.” As if it’s some massive achievement. Disabled, handicap, or special needs students aren’t your prop to use when you want to get some attention or social points. They’re humans too, nothing less. How much do you want to bet that popular jock never talks to that girl again once the dance is over.
It’s belittling, it’s acting as if they’re less of a human, and it’s acting like they’re not important. Do you hang out with special needs kids on the daily? Or made an effort to talk to them when you’re not in the spotlight? Of course you don’t.
Sure maybe some people have good intentions, but from what I’ve seen it’s not. If it was genuine you wouldn’t be calling up the news to get your own segment. You wouldn’t feel the need to b... keep reading on reddit ➡

I'm sure quite a few of us here were regular viewers of Bon Appetit's video content but it seems that's unlikely to return in a form that resembles what we saw before they shut down earlier this summer.
> After five weeks of contract negotiations, three of Bon Appétit's Test Kitchen stars are departing the wildly popular video channel.
> Priya Krishna, a contributing writer, Rick Martinez, a contributing food editor, and Sohla El-Waylly, an assistant food editor, told Business Insider that they would no longer appear in videos.
> They represent three of the six people of color who are regularly featured on the Test Kitchen videos.
> El-Waylly will stay in her role writing recipes and other content for Bon Appétit's magazine and website, while Krishna and Martinez will continue to freelance on the brand's editorial side.

Hey everyone! Firstly I want to thank you all for your incredible advice last week. It was very much appreciated. I took a lot of it onboard and decided the best course of action was to support him indirectly for the time being and see if he opened up a bit more. Sure enough, he did and we had another chat about it. I of course reassured him that everything he told me would be private and totally between us.
We had a great discussion about his insecurities and where they stem from. Apparently a girl he was with told him it was small. Like some of you suggested, I told him girls can be bitches sometimes so she could have been lying or exaggerating to make him feel bad. I asked him if he had ever measured and he told me he was scared to. I then reiterated a lot of your guys’ advice about size not being everything and that every girl is different.
Overall, I think he went away feeling better about himself than he did going in but he still seemed unsure so I decided to send him a message... keep reading on reddit ➡
I (M24) had an auto accident over 2 years ago that resulted in a left leg knee amputation, I thought that would been the end of my active lifestyle, I loved all kinds of sports as a kid and I still do. I had a very hard time adjusting to my new normal, my parents were able to get me a prosthetic leg that allowed me to get back to running and going trips with my friends like we always do every summer.
The guys were planning an RV trip on the weekend, we had already chosen a destination which was spending some time out in nature and getaway from stress.
My girlfriend asked if she could come along, I told her no, this is a guy's trip, Told all my buddies' girlfriends wanted to go but they were firm and put their foot down, she laughed at me for this Then tried to convince me to let her come cause she was feeling stressed out from being at home 24H, I already made up my mind, I wasn't going to ruin the trip just because she wants to be on a guy's trip, I promised her a trip when I get... keep reading on reddit ➡

I (36F) was best friends with Georgia (36F) since we were 5. Even from an early age Georgia competed with me on inconsequential things. The level of our friendship varied throughout the years of college and slightly after, but we became best friends again in our mid to late 20s.
Georgia and I got engaged around the same time (once I announced, she set her wedding date 2 weeks before mine and picked the same vendors I had...then wore a white dress to my wedding, just to give you an idea). Whatever. We both started TTC at the same time. She got pregnant on her first try and stopped talking to me because “it would have been too awkward.” I was going through extensive infertility treatments (that didn’t result in a child) that she never asked about.
My husband had a psychotic break and my once-loving marriage spiraled into horrible physical, emotional, and financial abuse. I reached out to her for help and she said she was too busy with her baby. She never contacted me again, and I didn... keep reading on reddit ➡
