Is there a particular song or musical passage that never fails to move you emotionally?

Out of millions of songs out there, is there a certain type of song with the lyrics that you can't get over with because for some reasons, it was able to express what you could not in reality? Just curious here =)

Searching for musical interpretations of psalms and Tanakh passages

I know a few good pieces of music for a few passages (like Yamma ensemble's interpretation of Psalm 104 and other passages), but for many other texts, I failed to find interpretations which fit my tastes. Can some of you direct me to their own favorite listening featuring texts from the Tanakh?

Any suggestion is welcome in terms of texts and of musical style, but I would be especially happy to find interpretations of Psalm44 and of Isaiah's "new heavens and new earth" passage (starting at Isa 65:17). For full disclosure: I also love the Book of Job, but for some reason the idea of a musical version of it weirds me out. I'll still give it a try if someone suggests one.

A Musical Setting of Two Pynchon Passages: "The Castle in the Sky"

The first part of this piece I did last year, which started because I decide to program into my MIDI piano roll the image of a castle, to make "image music" across the notes for an experiment. And then as often happens, one thing led to another, and I read the "Tower is Everywhere" section from Crying of Lot 49 which seemed to express this kind of purgatorial angst that was coming through.

So then, last week, thinking I might show this off for Pynchon in Private, I recorded the end of Against the Day to do the latter section, which sort of more optimistically shows the gravity of castle transcending into acceptance of sky. Hence, "The Castle in the Sky" and will no more ado, I hope ya'all enjoy it!

Have you ever had a piano practice session like this? How do you overcome tricky musical passages? I was having a bad practice day so decided to make a video that some of us may relate to. All mistakes in this video were, unfortunately, genuine. youtu.be/l54LZMOMp68

What are some of the musical passages that gave you the most satisfaction after you finally mastered them?

A few for me: Any David Gilmour solo that didn't sound wooden, SRV's Rude Mood, Corcovado-them chords!(vid with artistic nekiddy ladies), Satriani's Lords of Karma solo (nice hairs!), and many others. What made you work hard and smile when you...nailed it?

Did "Your Own Special Way" borrow a musical passage from "Shannon"?

The song "Your Own Special Way" has a musical passage at the beginning of the chorus that I think sounds very similar to one used in the verses of the song "Shannon" by Henry Gross. Interestingly enough, "Shannon" was a hit in the spring of 1976, quite possibly around or just before the time "Wind & Wuthering" was being recorded. I'm not going to say Mike Rutherford stole the passage; more likely it was a case of cryptomnesia, or perhaps the two songwriters independently came up with almost the same musical passage. Just to make things more interesting, both passages are also somewhat similar to a musical passage from the extended instrumental playout of "Layla" by Derek and the Dominoes, dating from 1971.

Below are some YouTube links for comparison. Give them a listen and you be the judge.

Your Own Special Way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykaEysI4KYA#t=1m24s

Shannon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5Wpn3dFrEs#t=11s

Layla: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSquiIVLhrQ#t=4m08s

Edit: Apparently not every browser honors the time offsets in the links. If they start at the beginning, note the time offsets in the url (the part after the #) and compare the next few bars starting from those points. Also try clicking on the link, pausing the video, then clicking reload.
