Images, posts & videos related to "Movie Theater San Jose"
I photographed these at a San Jose theater. They are literally cast in stone.
We're gonna need a bigger boat and Life is like a box of chocolates.
Dinner, drinks, and a movie. All safe choices, but extremely played and yo boy works and is balling on a budget.
Fortunate to have several date prospects (not bragging) but short on cash and ideas.
I'm trying not to drive all the fucking way to SF to go see a free show or something so local to south bay preferred (or at least within 10-12 min drive)
I need suggestions for both day and nights, weekdays and weekends.
Best meaning comfortable seats, digital screens, etc. Moved here a few months ago and haven't been to the movies around here yet.
I am turning 21 on September 20th. I have friends who are 21+ who don't drink, and since it is my 21st birthday I want to, but I don't want them to feel obligated to come to a bar and be bored. Is there any movie theaters in/near San Jose that have a cafe/bar kind of thing inside the auditoriums?

Here are some of the places which I think might help others and people who are having their own ideas can share and help each other
1.) Drive-in movie theater
2.) Sierra Vista Point and mt. hamilton for scenic views and hike

In traveling to the Philippines a few times to integrate with mass organizations there, something that always struck me was the practice of cultural work and how it is integrated into the political struggles. There really is a comprehensive revolutionary culture that is being developed ahead of the seizure of state power which includes art but also things like slang and even the practice of romantic relationships. Political art is often created under the direction of collectives, to ensure the sharpest political line and to combat the petit bourgeois individualism that is common among artists.
This list is really just a selection from a much wider range of different culturals that are produced in the sphere of the movement. These range from culturals directly created by either the legal mass movement organizations or orgs of the underground armed movement, to work created by individuals influenced by the movement, to documentaries about the movement. I tried to select culturals that are well known as well as ones that I like, and ones that I think would prove interesting for communists who want to learn about the Philippines revolution.

Lane, Karen, Alexa, Ross, Kevin, and Leland met online
Lane showed off a steampunk gun project using 5 plasma globes run by an Arduino in a chasing lights
config and powered by batteries.
Karen has an issue with the thermistor on her printer bed, causing some of her prints to misbehave.
She printed a clearance gauge [https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3556301not quite the one she printed but close] and can currently print down to .25mm
Ross wore a nice red Fez (and had fun with backgrounds Dr Who and the Exhibition hall at Dickens Faire)
Ross is working on cleaning a nasty plastic blob off the hot end of his Rostock, will have to replace the thermistor. He is also redesigning the fan config, looks very nice.
Lots of fun with backgrounds.. though they donβt work well with show & tell (unless you like abstract art)
Ross, Also made a couple of modular wire spool holder sets. [https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4610854]
Ross talked about SCA events in Germany & Wales during his deployment
Talked about the sense of history in Europe, with buildings 1000s of years old etc
Talked about Will Durant history books sfpl.org for audiobooks (have to look at the Santa Clara library website)
Hoopla and other sources.
Lane talked about his home about 3 blocks from lake Almanor up in Plumas county
Ross talked about finding a 1913 Royal Navy Manual of Steam in a library as a child
Alexa, Γs still iterating on her juicer project, working out stability and issues with handles
Ross is designing a Camera mount (he broke the last one he had) based on a design from [I didnβt find one that matched, there are a lot of camera mounts on thingiverse]
Building a time lapse movie using octolapse. Quite easy to set up & add to octoprint.
Talked about various interesting plugins for octoprint. Kilpper etc.
Lane asked about using octoprint with ah USB connected printer, it will.
Question about having one octoprint serving multiple USB connected printers

I tried to set a background in safari but was unable :-( (I guess Google Meet doesnβt love safari)
Talked about Food
Talked about the Gilroy Ostrich farm. [https://gilroyostrichfarm.com](https://gilroyostrichfarm.com
Also showing in Arizona and Nevada, though I forgot to put it in the title.
Since the pandemic, I've been going to the drive-in theater more often. And since new movies aren't really being released, they're showing older stuff. And I was incredibly excited to discover that the West Wind Drive-in chain is doing double features of HTTYD1 and HTTYD2 this week at some of their locations. Here's a list of showtimes:
Sacramento: Friday 9/25, Saturday 9/26, Tuesday 9/29 (I'll be at this one), starting at 7:30 PM.
Santa Barbara: Saturday 9/26, Tuesday 9/29, starting at 7:20 PM.
San Jose: Friday 9/25, Saturday 9/26, Tuesday 9/29, starting at 7:30 PM.
Also a few for our Nevada and Arizona neighbors!
Las Vegas: Friday 9/25, Saturday 9/26, Tuesday 9/29, starting at 7 PM.
Reno/Sparks: Saturday 9/26, Tuesday 9/29, starting at 7:30 PM.
Glendale, AZ: Thursday 9/24, Friday 9/25, Saturday 9/26, Sunday 9/27, Monday 9/28, Tuesday 9/29, Wednesday 9/30, starting at 6:50 PM.
I saw the first one again back in June, and it was a wonderful experience. If you have the chance, definitely go see it again on the big screen. It's worth it.
TLDR: Is it okay to leave your car running during a drive-in movie?
Background: I grew up in a rural county in California that happens to have a great Drive-In theater. I've gone there dozens of times and I've always had a great experience. The occasional idiots will leave/turn their vehicle lights on from time to time, but it's usually solved within a few minutes and the noise and distractions that get annoying inside a theater are part of the drive-in experience in my opinion. Blast your radio and enjoy the outdoors. To me, it's less about watching a movie carefully and more about enjoying the atmosphere.
I live in the South Bay Area now, and all of our theaters are shut down for good reason, but we do have the West Wind Drive-In in south San Jose. I've been there a few times in the past, but have gone more frequently during Covid. West Wind is unique for a few reasons. It's basically a 20 acre lot with a central projector rotunda and 6-7 screens spread around it in a circle. It's cool, but there's also local city life to contend with including a fairly busy highway next to it, Cal Train tracks right on the border, and landing planes directly overhead going into San Jose International. It's chaos at times during a movie, but it's an experience for sure.
My issue is on my recent visit last weekend. We went to a Jaws and Jaws 2 double feature. The Bay Area is in the middle of a nasty heat wave, but by the time we showed up around 830, it was pleasant enough to sit outside in the bed of my truck. Like many other people, I think sitting outside or surrounded by open air is part of the experience. I don't have AC in my old crappy truck, nor would I ever leave it running during a movie. It's loud and slightly noxious. There were families all set-up around their cars and outside as well. This is what I've come to expect at the drive-ins.
Multiple cars around us were left running for both movies. The car right next to us was running the entire time. In this case, it was a fairly quiet sedan, but I hate the idea of breathing in exhaust for a whole movie and even worse, the engine was throwing off a lot of heat toward our spot. We asked them to shut down early on, but they basically rolled their windows up and left their car on after twenty minutes or so. Love the idea of watching Jaws at the drive-in, but even our radio couldn't drown out the monotonous hum of vehicle engines turned on around us.
So, I get it. People want to be in AC and super comfortabl

The S&P 500 (+1.0%) and Nasdaq Composite (+0.6%) rose to new record highs. The gains were prompted by news the FDA approved emergency use authorization for convalescent plasma in hospitalized COVID-19 patients. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.4%, and the Russell 2000 gained 1.0%.
Cyclical stocks outperformed, as they typically do when there is any positive-sounding coronavirus update. The S&P 500 energy (+2.8%), financials (+2.3%), were the best performers.
The health care sector (-0.5%) was the only S&P 500 sector that closed lower today.
Many of the mega-cap stocks started the day rallying to fresh all-time highs, but a lack of follow-through buying interest in these names tamed the bulls and briefly took the tech-sensitive Nasdaq into negative territory. Investors bought the intraday dip, although these stocks (and the Nasdaq) closed well off session highs.
Apple (AAPL 503.43, +5.95, +1.2%), for example, was up as much as 3.6% but ended the day higher by 1.2%. Nevertheless, it was still a good day for Apple after Morgan Stanley raised its price target to a Street-high $520 from $431. Today was also the record date for the company's 4:1 stock split.
In the energy space, many oil producers temporarily closed oil refineries in the U.S. Golf Coast in anticipation of two tropical storms. One of the storms is expected to reach landfall as a hurricane.
WTI crude futures increased 0.7%, or $0.30, to $42.61/bbl. The U.S. Dollar Index increased 0.1% to 93.30.
There was no significant economic news today. Investors will receive New Home Sales for July, the Consumer Confidence Index for August, the FHFA Housing Price Index for August, and the S&P Case-Shiller Home Price Index for June on Tuesday.

The man was tall, I think 6' 1" but the guard who saw the attacker suggests he was more like 6' 3". He appeared to be Latino/Mexican/Asian mix to me, but the guard thinks just Latino. He had black stringy hair, almost shoulder-length, pulled back in a ponytail. It fell out of the ponytail in loose strands which were about as thick as a pencil and slightly curly. He wore a dark multi-colored blue button down shirt. He had blue jeans on (not the dark blue kind; more of a mid-blue). I'd guess his age was late 20s, early 30s.
This is a description of what happened. I walked toward the parking garage at Santana Row and saw a man literally punching my ex-wife's car. I shouted for him to stop. As I approached he said he was just upset because he couldn't find his car. I told him again not to damage property, but he wasn't getting it and appeared to be drunk. So I gave up and walked to my car. As I turned, I saw him try for a sucker punch. It landed somewhere on my upper side/back. He kept throwing punches so I grabbed him and shoved him into a support column. We struggled and I tried to punch back but I think the most effective thing I did was get my finger in his mouth.
He was punching and kicking my stomach at this point. He was below me. I was pushing him down and trying to stop him. He seemed very wild. I put my weight on him and eventually he relented. He again said he just wanted to look for his car. Stupidly I let him up. But he was still trying to fight but couldn't win so he ran to a security guard that was walking by the entrance to the parking structure. He told the guard that I had a gun.
The guard came in quickly, asking where my gun was. I did not have a gun. I told the guard this and told the guard I had lost my glasses in the fight. I asked the guard to help me look for the glasses. I told the man who had attacked me that he was ON CAMERA and the truth would be evident. At this point, he SUCKER PUNCHED ME AGAIN, right in front of the guard! This punch finally landed well and it hurt a LOT.
I was too tired at this point, so the guard gave chase. While the guard chased him, I tried to find my glasses with another guard who had come on the scene. I noticed my cell phone had also fallen out of my pocket. I picked it up and put it in my pocket (important for later), f

The year was 1989. I was 22 years old, living and going to school in Hollywood California. I had returned to the San Jose area for the winter break. A guitar player friend of mine stopped over to play his new record, he had just pressed it.
I was buying acid by the sheets at Grateful Dead shows and selling it around Hollywood at a huge profit. I was near the end of a sheet, a particularly good one. So my buddy bought five hits from me. Then we start listening to his record.
He pops all five into his mouth. I start freaking out and telling him he needs to leave before it kicks in. He tells me he's experienced and I don't need to worry. Yeah he's 35, but he's not that experienced. Then out comes a small bottle of Kessler whiskey and I'm really losing my shit. I'm just really nervous that when it kicks in it isn't going well for him.
The record is 45 minutes long, which is super inconvenient. By the end of it I'm pushing him out the door, I jump in my car and head back to LA, the 5-Hour Drive is a familiar one. Straight down Highway 5.
I show up in La that evening to a slew of answering machine messages from my parents. Apparently the FBI was at my door with a search warrant for LSD. They knew exactly where I kept it. I immediately knew what happened. My fears were all Justified.
My parents are pretty worried that I'm going to get arrested any minute. So now I'm panicking. I look out the window and I see two cops walking towards my front door. This is a pretty big apartment complex so it could be any door, but they were coming right at me.
I grabbed the rest of my stash, I counted it up. Two rows of 10 + 2.
22 hits
Looks like I'm going to jail. I'm either going sober, or tripping. It's a no-brainer. Standing over the toilet, I make the decision, into the mouth it goes.
Anticipating the pounding on the door at any minute, I moved back into the front room and check the window. All clear. There's nobody there. No cops. Nobody.
An hour later I'm tripping balls, and there doesn't seem to be a threat of law enforcement any longer. So now I have to find something to do, so who framed Rodger rabbit is playing on the huge screen in Hollywood. I mean the big famous theater right on Hollywood Boulevard with the huge screen. What a great movie to see tripping. Neverending Story was playing right after it and I stuck around for that. Another good movie to see in this state of mind.
I remember walking out of the theater on to the street, and looking at the peop
