My inclination is no, but I'd like to hear your thoughts.
Assuming Maya Angelou is not only referring to "first impressions" but "someone did X and showed who they 'truly' are"- if everyone did this then everyone could be judged forever based on their worst day. In this society moral value would appear to me to be "who did the least wrong thing" as opposed to "who is doing something great and striving to improve"
In practice it appears that it results more on being able to cast judgment on selective people- which I also view as unethical because an ethical standard should (in my view) apply to everyone equally.
I would love to hear feedback/insights. I'm new to Reddit, but am interested in having my view challenged.
