From what I’ve read, Scottish and Manx Gaelic seem both to have rather simple verb conjugations as opposed to most Irish Gaelic dialects which have multiple tenses and moods each encoded with the verb.
They seem to only use a few auxiliary verbs (tha, bha, bidh) and one particle to denote past tense with verbs starting in a vowel (dh-). Does anybody know how they lost so much?
Does anyone know where I can find records from Isle of Man from before 1700?
Is my cat a Manx? When I adopted him at the shelter a year and a half ago, they identified him as a "bobtail," but a friend said he looked like a Manx. I liked the name Hanks for a cat anyway (named after Tom Hanks, obvi) and it seemed perfect with his possible breed! He loves to fetch, play with string, parkour, and generally get up to mischief; and he is very friendly with humans. How do I know if he is indeed a Manx?
hey all! i have a female manx, she is missing her entire tail and her L7 (i believe). she has bathroom problems & such, needs a diaper, etc.. she recently just went into heat for the first time. i am wondering if i should fix her or not? shes an indoor cat & wont ever get pregnant but obviously the loud consistent meowing is a bit annoying lmao. im worried that there will be complications with the surgery. is it worth it?
So I talked my fiance into getting this kitten a few months ago. She's a 6 month old Manx kitten so she has trouble with her bowels sometimes. (When you squeeze her too hard, sometimes she squirts.) Anyway, lately she's been super defiant about using the litter box and has started pooping wherever she wants. And this little thing poops a lot. Like I don't don't how this much shit can come out of this little thing. She poops behind books on bookshelves, on the dogs toys, and on the dog's bed sometimes. She will use the litter box, but not consistently. Even when she does use it, she'll still poop next to the box.
My fiance and I can get frustrated because she's just not using the litter box. We've have a two story house and have a litter box upstairs and downstairs. We've tried different litter boxes, different styles, different litters, and switched back to ones she preferred. It's not that she doesn't use the litter box; she just also shits on the floor.
Any suggestions? We love the shitten but would prefer to not clean up poop multiple times per day.
After trying to check my credit rating on Experian I've found that there's no history available for me, but I guess that isn't surprising; in short, I've always used savings / debit cards and haven't ever had a need for credit cards. From what I've heard, there's limited options available for Manx Resident, so if I want to build a credit history, where is the best place to apply for a credit card?
Mainlander here (is that what you call an Englishman?). How are things over on Mann at the moment/the past year?
We don't hear about your fine island much on our news (no news is good news eh I suppose) but have you been able to keep Covid off the island, is life still normal? How has Mann been affected by Britain and Ireland's lockdowns from a distance?
I adopted a rumpy from the animal shelter back in August. I didn’t know at the time Manx kitties tended to have rectal problems. My little baby has small rectal prolapse. The vet put her on a steroid, to which her bum is still red and pooched out. It tends to get a little “ poo cap” stuck to her anus. She still can go, I was just wondering what others may experience on how to deal with a prolapse anus. It’s minor, but can she still have a happy life and pain free? The vet suggested science diet prescription I/d, so I was also curious if anyone’s tried that.
