[SND-RAY] A good idea that's starting to look like a scam.

I had the misfortune of backing this campaign based on a video featured on the campaign's page in which several individuals are shown reacting to a prototype version of the product. The video strongly implied that the team had already developed a functional prototype and were ready to begin production. However, since then the project has been delayed multiple times. In their most recent update (in which they announced yet another two-month delay) the excuse they gave was that the sound quality was lacking and they needed more time to improve the frequency response, which implies that they are still in the prototyping phase and nowhere near ready to begin production.

It has now been over a month since they gave us that update, with no further news with regards to how they are progressing. I am starting to think that the video they posted mi

A brief look into areas for security improvements in the CTemplar web app (Part 1/2)

Hello CTemplar Team!

CTemplar has come a long way in the past few months, and it seems well on it's way to becoming a good encrypted email service. It's clear that everyone in the team has been worked incredibly hard to get it this far. I think one of CTemplar's strong points is how feature-complete it is, even during this early stage of development. I believe in their mission of making encrypted email freely available to people, and I would like to help out.

While using the app, I've noticed a couple of little issues and glitches, which I have outlined below. Please don't take any of this as a criticism towards CTemplar or the developers, I am just trying to help in getting the application to a more polished state. I've tried to document them up as clearly, and where possible, I've given the steps to fix

Some of the below issues relate to security, but just to clarify up-front: none of these issues are critical, and if you are a user of CTemplar - you do not have anything to be imm

Comprehensive Gou Theory: Satoshi Hojo, In The Hidden Room, With The Onigari-no-Ryuuou

Alright, here it is- my comprehensive mega theory on what I believe may have been happening through the whole of Gou that we have seen so far. It does involve crazy amounts of extrapolation and could very well be invalidated by the next episode.

TL;DR version - Shion is hiding Satoshi in her closet. Satoko knows. The Hojo brother is awake, crazy, running around and has been either directly or indirectly responsible for much of the bullshit in the arcs so far.

Now here it comes. The long version. The crack logic. Grab onto your baseball bats, buckle up your airsoft guns and don't let go.

Unnatural Combinations

I think most people are surprised when they learn one of my hobbies is taxidermy.

I know what you probably expect when you hear that- some shady looking Ed Gein kinda guy. I’m gonna clear this up off the bat. Not everyone that practices taxidermy looks like a serial killer, all empty eyes and unsettling grins. I’d like to say I’m pretty normal, as far as your average human being goes. I’m close to my parents, I have a good job, I even have a dog named Hamlet. But I also really do enjoy taxidermy.

I picked up the hobby almost… god, has to be like ten to twelve years now. At the time, I thought the same as probably most of you, that taxidermy was for people like Norman Bates or Leatherface. That changed during a highschool project where I had to shadow someone at their workplace. Since I was sick the day all the popular choices were taken, I got stuck working at McConnell Taxidermy with the stern looking Walter McConnell. Hello all, happy hoildays! I stumbled upon this subreddit not long ago and have enjoyed the commentary and experiences everyone's shared. Wanted to add another perspective from a mid-30s first-gen American. I've had some missteps regarding careers and finances, but I feel like I'm in a slightly better place now. I tried YNAB in the past but I wasn't consistent enough with it. These days I use Mint to monitor my finances and have a "Finance Friday" each month to review all my accounts and spending. I currently live with my partner TJ and his dog RR. We do not combine finances, but he has been unemployed since March. I have helped him with some bills and basic necessities here and there until he finds his next job or career.

My current financial goals are to just maintain a status quo and not get any debt until pandemic times are over. Then I will focus on a house remodeling fund and savings for taking care of my parents.

How to become a flipping mega goblin <Guide>

I currently flip pretty much anything across every EU server and just wanted to share a few pointers as I have seen quite a few people asking about flipping recently.

My motivation to become a mega goblin (100% Skippable if you are here for tips)

As with many stories this year it all started with Covid. Both me and my partner have always turned to games in the most challenging times of our lives and being a nurse during a pandemic was never going to be a good year. We have both had very different experiences over the last 6 months but one thing we both agree on is that we have zipped up more body bags this year than the rest of our careers combined. I needed a distraction but 8.3 was old news by now, Shadowlands was decades away and so I though what the hell I’ll try getting my long boi. Perhaps that would do the job after all when I played starwars galaxies I crafted almost exclusively and it was a great time.

My phone has a new voicemail. There is no actual message inside. It is just breathing, slow and even, sometimes too soft to hear.

I delete it.

My week is a blur of edits, rewrites, coffee gone cold. The stress helps, in a way. I don’t feel tempted to check the messages stacking up in my voicemail. They always come from an unknown number. On the final day before the conference, my phone stays quiet. I polish my presentation well past midnight. I won’t say that I slept, after. It feels more like I blink and my alarm starts cricket-chirping in my ear. 5:30 AM. A call comes through just as I shut off the alarm. The phone is still in my hand when it begins to drone.

I drop it as fast as I can, but my thumb must’ve hit the end call button, because the phone goes inert. Will he notice that this call didn't ring as many times as the others? (Is he close enough to hear my wake-up alarm?)

My throat is painfully dry. I grab the glass at my bedside, but there’s no water left.

My sister's tweets have ruined my life.

My sister has had, well, let’s say a history of less than amicable interactions with people outside of the family. Even those within haven’t been spared her seemingly source-less ire, but those who lack the commonality of blood feel—in ways both openly and subtly hostile—her anger and unfounded spite. For as long as I can remember, going all the way back to our troublesome toddlerhood, my sister has made it her modus operandi, her prime existential impetus, to inflict harm with words and derision; with guile and deception; all out of some inborn distaste for anyone she deems—by standards unknowable—pretentious, prideful, or otherwise unworthy of some perceived self-confidence with which they allegedly carry themselves.

Throughout her life, in a role immediately given to me by my parents once I had achieved the physicality sufficient to restrain her, I was made my sister’s keeper, wrangler. Any arguments or social bouts with peers, or even strangers, were clumsily broken up and de-es

Yeah, call me what you will. A creep, a pervert, a sicko, a weirdo, a freak. All of those best describe me. I get off on watching other people having sex. Judge me all you want, that's just the way I'm wired. We all have our kinks and fetishes. I started out as your run-of-the-mill horny teenaged peeping tom spying on Mrs. Jacobson undressing in her bedroom across the street. I'd be crouched in front of my window with the lights off to avoid detection, a pair of binoculars pressed to my eyes, watching as she got ready for bed. I got pretty skilled at holding the binoculars with just one hand...if you catch my drift.

It quickly evolved into full-out sexual voyeurism one night when I witnessed her getting it on with Mr. Jacobson. I found myself getting excited like never before watching them go at each other. Before, it had turned me on watching Mrs. Jacobson undress, but that had been different. It had been more...impartial, if that makes sense. There was a big difference between non-s

Who doesn't love Christmas? Snuggling under a warm blanket, with a cup of hot chocolate in your hand, putting a cliché Christmas movie on the TV, as the snow falls outside. Well, not me.

A few months ago, I would have told you that Christmas was my favorite time of year. I couldn't stand the summer because I felt like I was withering from the heat. I longed for the caress of icy wind of winter on my cheeks. I loved to go Christmas shopping for gifts, to decorate my house in the most festive way possible, and spend the holiday with my whole family, a time filled with love.

But it's unfortunately a feeling I will never feel again.

You see, last year, my finances weren't really at their best.

Inside, Rob had cranked up the thermostat. I immediately began to sweat. Rob hadn’t heard me come home; he was in the kitchen, hard at work on dinner, twin rib-eyes on the skillet.

I peeled off my jacket, then my skirt, my top, and kicked them into the corner. I slid into pajama pants and an undershirt, careful to be quiet, then poured a tall glass of Pinot Noir from the small bar in the dining room

Rob heard me. He grinned, which made his second chin puff out. I downed half of my wine before he could kiss me. I may have gagged otherwise.

Ownership of the land has been passed down over the years with the oldest getting the house.

My father passed in 2000 and left house to me (my mom still lives in house) and land was split between 3 siblings equally (about 1000 acre each). Let this be the end-all SPF policy thread (it probably won't be.)

I've been seeing a lot of mis-information and misconceptions about SPF recently, and what do to about it if it fails. (i.e. what a receiving MTA should do with ~all and -all without considering other email authentication mechanisms.)

I made a post for another redditor on this topic that I thought would be useful as a separate thread. Keep in mind for the below, we are not considering DMARC/DKIM except for one corner case where it applies in a questionable way.

If you started looking at the sheer volume of legitimate email that fails SPF because of forwarding, mis-aligned RFC5321 header, mis-configurations, etc... You will see why you do not want to block it outright due to how unreliable it is. There is a reason DKIM and DMARC were created to cover the weakness of SPF.

Consider these scenarios, and realize how broad the scope is of trying to block SPF alone. The questions are rhetorical.

In February of 1982 Leon Moncer of Bellaire Ohio received a death threat in the mail. Made out of cut out magazine letters, the note read "Leave it alone or you are dead". He vanished soon after, and his case had never been solved. Almost forty years later, his daughter is searching for answers.

This is a case where information is sparse at best, but there were still several notable discrepancies between sources. In an effort to clarify details about the case, I spoke with Leon’s daughter, Julie Wurtzbacher. This conversation took place over the phone in August of 2020. I’d contacted her for a podcast I work on, and she is actively trying to get more publicity for the case.

Leon Moncer was a complicated young man. In the investigation that ensued following his disappearance it would become public knowledge that he was an alcoholic, abusive towards his wife Irene and had had a tendency to be unfaithful with his romantic partners. Two Nerds Answer Your Questions: December Mailbox Edition

Hoi, it's TT and MA no one knows who MA is, just go with Meec dammit. It's TT and Meec this month answering the mailbox questions for the month of December may 2020 rest in pieces. For the sake of brevity, some prompts have been abbreviated. Let's dive right in.

1) This is Merc testing the mailbox, does it work?

This is Meec, it does not. Yes.

2) Woo mailbox! -saint

There, now it works.

3) hot cocoa recipe

So, we got a few recipes in the mailbox? An unexpected surprise, but we got TT on it. The first recipe for a mug of hot cocoa read as follows:

  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1/3 teaspoon maple syrup
  • dash salt
  • a cup and a half of hot milk
  • add marshmallows to taste

TT: I was a little worried this was going to be too sweet for me with so much sugar, but you know, this is a really nice, rich drink. With so much cocoa powder it’s even a little thick, which gave a nice mouthfeel. ...Didn’t reall

I am 53 years old, have a combined $210,000 annual income, live on Long Island, NY, and work as a Project Coordinator

First, I'm sorry this is so long. Second - please be nice. We have debt, bad habits, and are Catholic. So if any of those things are going to get you spun up, just skip this one.

Section One: Assets and Debt Use this section to explain your current financial picture at large.

Everything here is joint – “M” and I have been married 22 years and we’ve had “smashed money” that whole time (and really for about a year before that).

Retirement Balance (and how you got there): Approximately $500,000 in a variety of IRAs and current 401(k)s.

Equity if you're a homeowner (and how much you put down and how you accumulated that payment). Bought our house in 2001 for $239,000 with 20% down (some aggressive saving and a gift from each of our parents). We refinanced, took some cash out for some home repairs, and reduced it to a 15-year loan in 2009 – our current equity would be about $195,000, but similar homes in the neighborhood are listed at $475,000-$525,000, so if we ever sell, we’re

A Tom Waits Primer

Disclaimer 1: This is not an attempt at scholarly analysis of the music or a comprehensive exploration of biographical information.

Disclaimer 2: I don't recommend listening to Waits' discography all at once.

#Personal interaction with the artist Tom Waits is one of the few artists whose entire discography appeals to me, and his music is, in my mind, anchored not only to the time of day but also the activity I'm engaged in: that time of day being evening/night, and that activity being reclining with a drink in hand. I know that might sound a little bit cliche, but the early albums at least definitely favor that treatment. As I move through Waits' discography, though, being upright and sober is also an acceptable way to listen. Waits was an instant like for me and my family. My wife and teenage daughters adore his music, too, especially the dark cabaret stuff.

#Overview of the artist I'm not here

[AA] Case #0079 - April Cain

Coffee splashed across the floor, pulling Eli from his peaceful nap. The newest hire was often a little... "much".

"I might be your secretary, but I will not be bringing you coffee!" Rose dropped the paper cup on the floor and crossed her arms.

"I didn't ask for coffee! Where did you even get that!?" Eli pulled his feet off his desk, "We don't even have a coffee machine here! Did you seriously go buy coffee just to spill it on my floor!?"

"Maybe, but you can't prove anything." Rose shrugged, "Oh, there's a man here to see you."

"Should I have a gun ready?"

"He doesn't look like that kind of guy."

Eli muttered for her to send him in and rubbed his eyes. Rose had only worked for him for a month. She'd stopped telling him she hated him after the first couple weeks, so that was at least better. She did take advantage of any small attempt to antagonize him, though. If he didn't hold himself responsible for her shop being overrun with unknowable and unnamable monsters, he wou

My Fan Characters Game Story~

Hey everyone. Not sure if you remember my last post featuring my Skullgirls OC. But here we are again~ And once again I use Discussion (Other) for this due to a lack of a Fan Literature tag. But none the less I hope you enjoy reading his Game Story, which will include alternations in the timeline/plot of Skullgirls. But anyway. On with the story~ And strap in because it is long...

Game Story*

The game story starts with Faust heading to what was once Lorenzo's office, Lorenzo was brutally murdered by Peacock as in Faust's story she takes her revenge on the Medici's earlier than usual. Vitale, who managed to avoid getting murdered because he was visiting Cerebella at the time the massacre happened, has taken over of what little remains of the Medici Mafia, which are only a couple goons now who were out with Faust doing a job. Faust sees Black Dahlia absolutely destroyed in a corner of the room, but Vitale tells him not to worry about a piece of scrap like her as she failed to do her jo

I think something's wrong with my dad.

If you've ever been on r/raisedbynarcissists, you know the type of dude my dad is.

Ever since I got my first period, he's seen me as a "woman." Yeah, I know. Gross. And he really doesn't like women, so that's obviously made things a bit rough on our relationship. Hell, you should've seen him when I said I was gay, too.

Our relationship is complicated. We occasionally have dinner together, make small talk that's tense, bordering on arguing. He makes passive-aggressive (or just straight-up aggressive) comments about "the liberals" and "the queers" and I ask him if he's threatened by something or if he's just being a general dick. He grunts and comments that I was prettier with long hair and then takes a gigantic bite of his Hawaiian pizza and we go back to sniping back and forth about why he thinks people don't deserve human rights and what branch of science he's decided to cast cynicism on most recently. You know, the usual.

Anyway. A couple days ago, I agreed to meet him for

The Strangest Roommate I've Ever Had

This took place all about three years ago. I was going to college at the time and was living with two of my friends, Phoebe and Macie, along with Macie’s boyfriend Joe. I’d been friends with Phoebe since we were kids but only recently befriended Macie within like a year of agreeing to move in together, and Joe was sort of a last minute addition.

Well, to sum it all up so we’re not here all day, Joe was a jackass. He was a lousy roommate, but he was even worse to Macie, who’s a pretty meek person and a doormat for Jackass Joe. It was the third time Joe was caught sleeping around that Macie finally snapped and broke up with Joe. He responded by taking off and leaving us scrambling for a new roommate so we didn’t end up losing our place. I think it was Macie who posted the ad on our school’s Facebook page as a last ditch resort. It didn’t matter if they smelled like ham or were up all night blasting Marilyn Manson, we just needed someone to pitch in with the bills.

The next day I answe

Old Hag Harris

It was a whim, really, that took me to exit the freeway on my way home, and down through the neighborhood where I grew up. Somewhat out of curiosity to see how much things had changed, and partly for the sense of nostalgia passing through the familiar streets I had walked as a child. I grew up in cul-de-sac, one several forming a small suburb, a cluster of housing nestled in the industrial outskirts of the city. It was a crossroads; encroaching civilization merging with what was formerly empty, wild land, integrated into a new coexistence. Passing through, where there once were empty fields, run down truck stops, and abandoned warehouses now stood row after row of housing, streets filled with clusters of apartments dotted with sterile street corner parks. What was left of the neighborhood really had changed, not only in it’s architecture and people, but in my perception of it.

The sense of openness was gone as the city stretched, burying the suburbs with a cold, asphalt landscape

The Most Deranged and Disturbing Character That I Have Ever Played Part 3

Welcome back my dear friends. It has been far too long since last we spoke, but I am excited to see that you have returned for the epic conclusion of my grand adventures. When we last left off, my party and I had managed to neutralize a rather notorious crime lord, and after taking a bit of time to ‘re-educate’ and ‘absolve’ him of his many transgressions, he was finally able to find salvation within the arms of the Midnight Lord. With his face now mutilated and his eyes burned away, the once powerful wizard had been utterly reduced to a shell of his former self. I can only begin to imagine how agonizing it must feel knowing that he will never be able to read from his spellbook or cast his magic again. Of course, if that wasn’t bad enough, my party immediately insisted that we entrust his future care to the local authorities, and after gathering enough evidence to ensure his guilt (which included crimes such as murder, theft, and human trafficking), the city guard wasted no time lockin

The haunting tale of Mary Doefour and one man's quest to give her back her real name

March 2, 1978. An old woman lay in bed, but she couldn't sleep. Something in her chest felt off. A dull ache. Shallow little breaths made her worn-out heart feel like it was dancing wildly inside her ribcage. And when the pain became a vile burn that felt like it was going to tear her in two, she opened her eyes wide as she tried to sit up, but she couldn't see. Only darkness, the weight of the shabby blanket, smothering her fragile body like a bag of bricks, the faint sound of somebody mumbling in the room next door. She tried to call out for a nurse, but nobody came. They often didn't. There were far too many cries for help in that place. Far too many. So many, over time, they just became background noise, a kind of infrasound the human ear could no longer pick up.

In the morning, an orderly finally came and peeked her head through the door. Good morning Mary, she said, but she got no reply. She moved on to the next room. Good morning Rose. Going through the motions. She had been in

>Synanon, is the first ever self help–no doctors– drug rehabilitation program, founded by Charles “Chuck” Dederich Sr. (1913–1997) in 1958 in Santa Monica, California. The name was chosen when a member slurred the words “Symposium” and “Seminar.” One of its early cardinal rules was “no violence” or threat of same. It went from the first ever no doctor involved self help drug rehab (Synanon I), to a building of a new society in Synanon cities to lead the world into the 21st Century (Synanon II), to becoming a self-claimed religion (Synanon III). Eventually followers took on the paranoia of its founder, Synanon developed the Imperial Marines and commenced a Holy War against its enemies. We took our dog, Noodles, to housesit for my boyfriend's parents. Now we don't talk to his family anymore.

“So, I talked to my mom,” my boyfriend said, joining me in the kitchen where I had been washing the dishes.

I turned off the water and looked at him. “And…?”

“They’re not sure they can keep the dog,” Tyler sighed.

“Is that a nice way of saying they’re giving up?” I raised an eyebrow. He didn’t need to answer. “So what now?”

We had discussed this already. We had known it would be a possibility; his parents not being able to handle a puppy.

Last fall, we had rescued a dog. Shortly after that, Tyler’s sister had moved out, and then we bought a house and moved in together at the beginning of the year. Tyler’s mom had been a preschool teacher at one point, but spent the last ten years or so as a stay-at-home mom while Tyler’s dad worked some important, high paying job.

I Read It So You Don't Have To: Class with the Countess (by LuAnn de Lesseps)

After my most recent adventure through the topsy-turvy mind of Kelly Bensimon in I Can Make You Hot!, it seems only fitting that my next literary endeavor provides a complementary perspective on self-improvement from another of RHONY's most erudite minds. That's right -- I extend to you all a most cordial invitation to join me as I master the fine art of manners with the queen of compunction herself, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, in her debut literary work, Class with the Countess: How to Live with Elegance and Flair.

Looking at the book's cover, I immediately feel a warm sense of reassurance as my eyes light upon the weighty gold chain hanging pendulously off of LuAnn's neck, a dozen jewel-toned baubles dangling haphazardly and drawing my attention away from the slight hint of cleavage exposed by her fitted salmon scoop-neck. It is 2009 again, and I am eager to return -- at least for the next 258 pages -- to a simpler time. A time when the Bla

An Overview of the History of Russian and Eastern Bloc Animation

Before the Covid-19 outbreak me and another guy were working on a one off podcast on the history of Eastern Bloc animation. The purpose was to trace the development of animation in Russia and the Eastern Bloc from it’s probable roots in old Imperial Russia through the USSR, noting how developments in the medium illustrated (haha) developments in the broader Soviet system.

The project fell through, and I kind of forgot about it until I came across the script I had put together for it in my mailbox this morning. Since I figured it would probably go to waste otherwise, I decided to rework it into a long form article to share here. Hope you enjoy.

Ladislas Starevich and the Beginning of Russian Stop Motion Animation

The beginning of Russian animation can be dated to 1910. That was the year the 27 year old Director of the Museum of Natural History in Kaunus, Ladislas Starevich, decided to produce a short film documenting two stag beetles fighting. He had produced 4 su

Quick reviews of 14 D&F scents

Hey, all! I'm still going through my backlog of scents as I try to tame the monster inside of me that whispers "Buy it alllll...." I figured the more reviews available for scents, the better, so today, I'm doing Death and Floral.

Quick note about the business/TAT: D&F has incredible customer service. If you have a question, the owner, Brim, will get back to you in about five minutes. She's quick to fix any issues, and she is an absolute workhorse. I can't say enough about this house's great communication, fun social media presence (I don't even like social media, but I follow D&F), and interesting collections.

My tastes: I love skin-but-better scents, woody scents, spices, and unisex/masculine-leaning scents. I enjoy most vanillas, lighter/white ambers, and atmospherics if they don't go too dirty. I hate patchouli, honey, and soil/dirt/earth notes.

The Battle Against the Twitter Horde

Back story.

Ownership of the land has been passed down over the years with the oldest getting the house.

My father passed in 2000 and left house to me (my mom still lives in house) and land was split between 3 siblings equally (about 1000 acre each). My brother (lives in CA) and sister (Lives in TX) quickly sold there lots to  a property development company. About the same the I had purchased a neighboring lot (850 acre) as my own.

The development company quickly purchased a lot of land and began building family units (3, 4 and 5 bedroom homes). This company repeatedly made attempts to get me to sell the 1850 acres I ow
