There are reports of various GPU-related issues with owners of AMD 5xxx and 6xxx series OEM cards after updating to macOS Monterey 12.3. This does not only affect Hackintoshes but also Mac Pro users as well. It would seem that Apple's own MPX-based cards do not have this issue.
I would direct your attention to a few threads where these concerns are being reported:

Users are reporting the following GPU related issues:
There has also been a report regarding earlier AMD GPUs like the Radeon VII having issues as well. Please add your experience as a comment if you are experiencing anything odd on 5xxx, 6xxx, and any older AMD GPUs.

** Reports of Monterey 12.3.1 fixing the issue **
There have been reports that the latest Monterey 12.3.1 update fixes the incredibly poor performance for OEM AMD 5xxx and 6xxx cards for users. As always make sure to back up your system before attempting any updates. You may also want to remove the current "fix" we have discussed in this thread ( spoofing as an Apple MPX-based card ).

First off, yes, I posted last week about a workaround involving low power mode.
But this Monday's macOS Monterey 12.3 update just straight up fixes the issue, no fiddling with settings needed.
For context, thereโs a 231+ page thread on MacRumors of people complaining and troubleshooting the issue of excessive heat/fan noise when using specifically their 2019 16" MBPโs with base 5300M GPU while plugged into external monitors of certain resolutions/frame rates, even at idle with nothing running. I've also heard the issue exists in the 5500M GPU, but don't have one to confirm myself.
The root cause was a bad GPU driver. Throughout the years, people have tried various workarounds, like using the laptop in clamshell mode, force enabling HiDPI mode for the monitor, or using Monterey's Low Power Mode. (Some solutions of which I discovered myself.)
(Personally, it would overheat with a 1080p60 or 1440p75 monitor without clamshell mode, or with a 1440p60 monitor even with clamshell mode.)
Or they gave up and just got the maxed out 5600M GPU that was released in 2020 that didnโt have this issue or an M1 Pro/Max in 2021.
But now, this issue is fixed by Monday's macOS update, no workaround needed! People have been celebrating in the aforementioned MacRumors thread. In Big Sur and earlier, idle GPU usage was ~18W. This is insane power draw at idle. In earlier version of Monterey, ~14W. Using low power mode, ~6W, but this required compromises like disabling CPU turboboost which may matter for some workflows.
But now in Monterey 12.3, it's now ~6W, straight up, no compromises needed!
I measured GPU power draw using exelban/stats.
No longer do I have to deal with loud fans at idle with just a monitor attached or extremely loud fans when doing simple stuff like zoom calls and screen shares. So if you have this model MacBook, go update to 12.3!
(Though you are welcome to continue using Low Power Mode for more battery life when not plugged in or to disable stuff like Turboboost for the CPU!)
Hi, long-time Unity dev, having worked with Unity on Windows PC for many years.
I recently switched to the latest, greatest MacBook Pro M1 Max, and just installed the latest version of dotnet6, which is supposed to be ARM64, already (so, no Rosetta translation).
I have built a blank console app with dotnet new console
, but I am kind of shocked by how slow the compile times appear to be.
The project is literally a Hello, world 1 line of code CLI app and yet the compile time is about 2-3 seconds, while the total build time is closer to 4-5 seconds
I find that really weird, because even on large-ish Unity code-bases, the compile times themselves never really surpassed 3 seconds on my desktop PC (not counting Assembly Reload and potential Asset re-import times)
Other programming languages compile way faster (Zig) or as fast (Rust, which is know to be super slow to compile).
Am I doing something wrong? Is this supposed to be normal?
Any input appreciated!
I'm using "Mounty for NTFS" app for my NTFS external drivers for 2 years but after monterey I can't get it to work as before. Now it creates a folder named ".Trashes" and impossible to access on macOS. I had to open my old windows pc for deleting this folder. Is there a thing i should do before using Mounty on Monterey or should i swich to another app like paragon ntfs?

I got macOS Monterey working on the Surface Laptop 3 (not the pro)
Working:
Wifi
Bluetooth
iServices
Webcam (in facetime only)
Not working:
Keyboard & trackpad (no drivers more detail later)
battery Management
Sound (can be enabled)
touchscreen
Wifi working was an important thing for me as I wanted it to behave as if it was a real MacBook (Air) as possible, sadly keyboard & trackpad don't work as Microsoft only released drivers for the pro to push people to buy that but this is a cool novelty build as it shows that if you want really do want something the thing to do it to try it.

Hi,
Sorry if this is not a right place to post. If you know a good place that could help me, I would gladly prefer that you PM me the subreddit to post and direct me to the right place. But well thats reddit so I'm just maybe too hopefull.
I'm really clueless on the issue from one of my users. On her mac running macOS Monterey 12.3.1 the office 365 suite from the www.Office.com portal is installed. She has a Microsoft 365 Business Premium license assigned to her account. She has her Mac for about two to three years. No special configuration on it. A barebone computer with some typical Mac softwares on it. Intune is not configured on it. All the users are configured like her. Some may have an older Mac running an older version, but most of them are up to date.
Everything seems to work fine, but from time to time, her Outlook simply disconnect. I'm far from being an expert on mac but I know enough to troubleshoot the common issue, but this one clearly is far from what I've experienced.
So far, I have uninstall the whole Office 365 suite from her mac manually and using the software from this site: https://office-reset.com/. I've reinstalled everything but the same issue occurs again and again. Her Outlook 365 simply disconnects without any reason that I can understand.
Knowing that she has an older Mac with the same Office 365 suite install on it, I have asked her to keep it online with her Outlook configured on it. I've asked her to look at it and tell me if the older one also disconnect when the newer Mac does it. I was hoping that the issue was from her internet connection at home. Sadly, when the issue reappears on the New Mac, the Outlook on her older Mac was working correctly with Outlook. No disconnection on the older Mac. Both computers are connected on the same WIFI. At this point, I'm prone to say that the network connectivity is not the issue.
I'm kind of a consultant with this company and they don't really have a dedicated IT that could help them but me. The hardest part is that I'm assisting here remotely and I'm not able to have physical access to the Mac. At this point, I would have done a complete reinstallation of the Mac, but this is not an option.
I'm posting this here in hope to have another eye on the issue.
TLDR: Outlook 365 disconnect without reason on a mac running macOS Monterey 12.3.1. The installation and the network connection doesn't seem to be the issue.

Hello, to start off I want to say that I have followed the steps provided by Logitech support from when I contacted support (they were zero help) and from the replies to posts here in the Logitech forum. None of the steps have resolved the issue. The steps included:
I have a Logitech G600 mouse and an Apple Silicon Macbook Pro (issue may not be limited to AS, just sharing setup) running macOS Monterey 12.3.1. I bought this mouse for use with games and apps that I use due to the extra buttons. Generally I am on Windows and it works flawlessly. When attempting to set up the mouse in G Hub it tells me that the driver is blocked. Clicking on "Unblock Driver" opens the Security & Privacy pane in System Preferences, however there is nothing to unlock on the General tab at the bottom where blocked drivers and services show up to allow.
Currently I am using Steermouse in order to get functionality, and in a pinch I have used on-board settings that I apply via a Windows machine. I would like to use G Hub and Logitech software so that I can control my lights and other settings for the mouse.
Photos included.
I need Fortran for my summer internship, so I'm trying to get ahead of it. However, I have Mac Monterey and I've tried multiple methods of installing gfortran and gcc and nothing has worked. I tried the downloadable package (https://github.com/fxcoudert/gfortran-for-macOS/releases), installing it via homebrew, and using Xcode and the Xcode command line developer tools, and I keep getting the error "library not found." When I do "which gcc" or "which gfortran" I get a response, so it's definitely installed.
Specifically, my error when I try to run the hello world file is;
ld: library not found for -lSystem
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
I think someone posted about this approx 75 days ago, but I tried all the fixes on that post already and nothing works. Any suggestions besides partitioning my computer with linux? I guess I could try MacPorts but idk if that would be any better than homebrew. And yes, I uninstalled everything before trying a new method. I think I read that Monterey and M1 chips are really incompatible with fortran, so maybe Linux is my best option, idk. I appreciate any advice.
Sadly macOS Monterey 12.3 has claimed another victim, support for the Aquantia 107 series of 10Gbit network adapters.
Luckily I was able to find a working solution to the issue thanks to the fine folks over at:https://www.hackintosh-forum.de/forum/thread/56039-aq-107c-unter-macos-monterey-12-3
The solution revolves around 3 key points:
Enable Intel VT-d in your motherboard bios
Setting the kernel quirk "DisableIoMapper" to False
Using a new Aquantia kernel patch listed below
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <array> <dict> <key>Arch</key> <string>Any</string> <key>Base</key> <string></string> <key>Comment</key> <string>AQC 107 10 GbE v3 for Monterey 12.3 - DisableIoMapper=False</string> <key>Count</key> <integer>1</integer> <key>Enabled</key> <true/> <key>Find</key> <data>D4RFAwAA</data> <key>Identifier</key> <string>com.apple.driver.AppleEthernetAquantiaAqtion</string> <key>Limit</key> <integer>0</integer> <key>Mask</key> <data></data> <key>MaxKernel</key> <string></string> <key>MinKernel</key> <string>21.4.0</string> <key>Replace</key> <data>Zg8fRAAA</data> <key>ReplaceMask</key> <data></data> <key>Skip</key> <integer>0</integer> </dict> </array> </plist>
This has proven to be completely successful for me and others. I am able to use both my Intel I219V2 1Gb ethernet port, as well as my Aquantia AQC107 10Gb ethernet port. I am able to freely switch the cable between either one and receive an IP and works without issue.
Related Note:
The awesome folks working on OpenCore have added a new kernel quirk called "ForceAquantiaEthernet" to the upcoming OpenCore 0.8.0. Sadly at the time of this writing, this new quirk doesn't work as a solution in m

Just wanted to post this update since I keep seeing questions about whether or not the Saffire range will work on macOS Monterey, even though it's not officially supported. I updated my intel Mac mini (2018) to Monterey last night and my Liquid Saffire 56 seems to be working just fine, MixControl and all. If anything it's actually less buggy than it was on Big Sur, which was a big surprise for me. I also have a Pro24DSP which is working fine as well, both in standalone and dual mode. Huge relief for me as I thought they'd both become paperweights if I ventured out of Big Sur.
Keep in mind that I have an INTEL Mac and NOT a Silicon (m1, etc). As far as I know, silicon Macs are confirmed not to work with the Saffire range, but if anyone out there has gotten it to work I'd be very curious to see what the workaround was.
Up until recently, it was all working fine - copying files from my Mac M1 to my mini-NAS via Samba. I can still access all the files, but I can't longer save them to the NAS.
Now, every now and then, I randomly get "Finder wants to move XXX - Touch ID or enter your password to allow this."
When I do, I then get: "The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items."
Which items? What permissions? Why is this happening all of a sudden? ๐ฑ
I did not change anything on my end.
What can I do?
Thanks!
