Title. That's really all I've got to say honestly.
EDIT: Woah, thanks for the insane response y'all! I thought that this was just gonna get a couple of responses of support or solidarity, but y'all really showed up. Appreciate you lot and everything your community is doing here ❤️
It's so painful.
This build started as a troll idea based on a rhyme, but ended up becoming extremely strong. This build hinges on a certain magic item being obtained (Belt of Strength) which makes it tough to apply in any situation but its still strong in my opinion.
This build is a cc based frontline tank that is all about defending others, and has fantastic synergy with a caster party.
Race: Lizardfolk (obviously)
Class: Wizard (obviously)
Attribute focus: Con and Int
Arcane Tradition: School of Abjuration
Early Feat: Sentinel
Spells: Greenflame Spellblade, Shield, Thunderwave, Absorb Elements, Warding wind, (prioritize things that have Crowd Control or Damage resistance.
Early on, Greenflame spellblade with the lizardfolk natural attack is your bread and butter. The constitution combined with the lizard base armor and the shield spell allows you to tank fairly well. Absorb Elements allows your other casters to AOE on you without killing you; and both of these spells add to your arcane ward.
Additionally, i highly recommend seeking out Belts of Strength. this will allow you to begin to be a damage threat and reliably lock down targets with Sentinel Attack.
Late Game, seek out toughness feat and war caster. Green Flame Spellblade starts to hurt, and locking down targets with both spells and Sentinel makes you a real threat with many options to deny enemy strategies. additionally, the Improved Abjuration bonus to counterspell makes casters struggle to hit your backline.
if you hit level 14, the spell resistance will make you practically impossible to deal with.
This build is a blast to play, with many options in combat, and not too many weaknesses. i spent most fights running directly up to the strongest enemy and then unleashing the might of a wizard, whilst denying the attempts for the enemies to flee, or cast back.
i highly recommend giving it a try.
