When a sub is optimized for littoral water combat, what does that actually mean?

I'm trying to make my own version of Virginia class sub in Cold Waters. Wikipedia claims she is "designed for a broad spectrum of open-ocean and littoral missions". I have no idea what does it mean. Some of my thoughts are:

-better dive/surface/turn rate than Seawolf.

-higher speed till cavitation (e.g. able to running w/o cavitation at 10kts/100ft)

-lower test depth (officially +800ft compare to Seawolf's 1600 ft)

Does my assumption sounds reasonable?

Also wiki mentions Virginia class has a "Low-Cost Conformal Array (LCCA) high frequency sonar, mounted on both sides of the submarine's sail. Provides coverage above and behind the submarine." Does that mean Virginia class are able to hear things inside her baffle?
