This is a soft mystery that's puzzled a few of my colleagues and me.
I work in a public library in Paris. We're at half capacity due to covid and we close 5 hours earlier than usual due to a curfew, so things have been very slow recently, and we're rather bored at our desks.
So we've all noticed this guy. In fact, I'm writing from my information desk right now, since he just walked by.
This young, well-dressed man walks slowy, doing rounds in the library, for hours. He does nothing else.
In normal times we'd just think he's looking for a place to sit - but there's plenty. He walks the same route as far as we can tell - he walks in front of our section desk from left to right, for instance.
He walks very slowly, so we don't think he's actually going anywhere. He passes two to three times an hour (the library's big, so he might actually be taking 20 minutes to walk the whole perimeter at this pace).
He's carrying amessenger bag, he's never carrying books, and he's not listening to anything (no earbuds).
It can last for hours.
We have no idea what he's doing. It's been at least three days.
Any idea ?
For anonymity purposes, I won't say where I'm from or my name. But you can call me Michael. I grew up in a pretty fucked up house with two siblings and a sexually abusive mom and dad. I was the youngest out of them by four years. I won't go into detail about the kinds of things they did to us on a regular basis, but whatever popped into your imagination, it probably happened. CPS was called once but nothing ever came of it. To say I hate them is an understatement.
I ran away in July one night, no letter or notice at all. I seriously contemplated burning the fucking house to the ground with everyone it as revenge against my parents and to spare my siblings anymore pain. But instead, I got my backpack and a gym bag, loaded them up with whatever food and clothes I could stuff in them including flashlights, batteries, matches, hunting knife, and other essentials I could fit. I'd planned this for a long time in advance. I also took all the cash savings my parents had stuffed away (about $2500) and headed out.
I had no other family to go to, so I spent the first few nights in the woods nearby my house, traveling by day and sleeping at night. I knew basic survival stuff like tent building and fire making, cooking meat, stuff like that. So I spent my nights next to a fire without worry. In fact, it took me almost a week to feel any semblance of remorse for leaving, but I knew I couldn't go back. For my own sake, I couldn't go back.
After about four days hiking, I made it to the next town over and bought a train ticket to the next city over, then the next city over from that, getting the best sleep of my life ever on that train. Not having to fear who could be on the other side of that door was splendid. All I had to my name was my driver's license and social security card in a wallet that was my dad's. That's all I had to my name. That and the money I had in a separate bag.
So I got to the city and immediately knew I had to find a place to live. The only place available would be the homeless shelters. And that's where I've been since. My money is all gone now after I had to pay for some basic stuff over the years and don't yet have a job. The reason I'm hesitant about even getting a job is because I'm afraid my family will find out where I am actually and come find me and try to bring me back.
But the shelter isn't all that bad. I bathe every day, get to read in the library, most of the people are nice too. I just don't know what I want to do at this poin... keep reading on reddit ➡
I FINALLY managed to get myself unbanned from the library! And I bet you all know what THIS means!! I will be hosting my SERVICES out the library again! I will be in the bathrooms from 2 to 4 on TUESDAYS and FRIDAYS! Be THERE or be BORING!! And OBVIOUSLY I will be decorating the bathrooms with GLITTER!! Otherwise they aren't spectacular AT ALL!!

Erase the Third Reich, and Hitler will have failed to take power, books on it being instead takes on a popular dark alternate history story.
Write something down, and turn it into reality, effectively giving you wishes of any length.
You should still be somewhat careful to what you do with this power, even if you can reverse it.
You have been nothing but trouble for the local library. We had you banned because you would cause damage to the library and bring unnecessary, unwanted, and downright illegal attention and activities.
I've addressed you in your previous announcement, but I making my own announcement so everyone in town will know better from here on out.
Krystal is still banned from the library. If Krystal is found on library property, Krystal will be asked to leave and if Krystal refuses, the cops will be notified and any damages caused to the library and its facilities will be paid for out of Krystal's wallet (garnishment of wages).
Thank you and please respect your local library and pay your fines. :)
Hello. Im just curious. If someone installs third party library, how do we know that it doesn't contain malicious code. I know that the code is open source. But, who reviews it?

And many more --- who gets it and why? The best selling author? The one with the most unique idea?
That final fight and that final book -- where a winner is determined and how it happens -- will define 40K for the next 50 years. It will inspire a generation of new 40K fans and theorists or dispirit them. Should one author even write it or should it be a collective effort?
I know they (the writers) read this subreddit and I wish to troll. PRESSURE -- BL writer -- PRESSURE. The eyes of the fans are upon you! Upon these works shall thee be judged at the time of ending! Hearkon now and hearkon well -- this great work will out-survive you -- it will be read far into the future by those who do not yet exist and shall never be named. It may be the single most profound thing you ever write in terms of longevity, so, dear BL writer, I say, from my perch upon Olympus, good luck!
I’m really hoping that Nintendo will bring out these games to the SNES Switch Online Library:
Super Mario RPG
Final Fantasy II/IV
Final Fantasy III/VI
Terranigma (I know that this game didn’t come out in the US but it was translated into English and released in the PAL regions so they could bring it in as an “import” like they did with Panel de Pon and Super Puyo Puyo 2)
