I have had an internship working in an IT department at a law firm watching network traffic, creating an IRP, policies, basic IT stuff as well. I eventually want to work in forensics but I feel like that's a position later down the road. Been applying for information security analyst positions but most require more experience than I have. Should I just be applying to SOC's or what other job titles should I be looking at? Thanks.
I’ve been working on their application process since early March, and starting Friday I am officially apart of their cohort. Didn’t want to put anything on here until I was officially in. There's a Tl;DR at the end for anyone who doesn't want to read the wall, but I really wanted to share my experience!
I found them on indeed and their title was
“ENTRY LEVEL JAVA POSITION! NO DEGREE REQUIRED!!”
And I was beyond skeptical. If that isn’t the most click-bait title for a job then I don’t know what is. Turns out to be more than legitimate. Due to not knowing all I am allowed to say, I’ll say that they’re partnered with several employers looking to hire entry level developers, one being one of the most used banks in the world. They’re also funded by the Bill Gates foundation and other well-known foundations for education. The founder of the program is also one of the Presidents of Yale. Their sole purpose is to train us in Java over 6 months and to help land us a job making $55,000... keep reading on reddit ➡
Taking only stuff you can by for cash, at Prapor's you can get an AKS-74U, SKS, PP-91 and Infantry Mosin.
The only reflex sight you can get is the Cobra mounted EKP-8-02, which you can't mount on any of these weapons.
You can also get a TOZ and a Saiga-9 from Skier, which won't even let you commit suicide with how bad they both are.
I don't see anything at lvl 1 that has a Cobra mount. The only thing with a mount is the AKS-74U, which needs a B-18 mount - available at lvl 2 Mechanic (requires PMC level 20).
B-11 handguard is at lvl 2 Skier (requires PMC level 15).
So basically, as far as purchasable equipment goes, you're stuck with iron sights until level 15, as far as I can see.
There's effectively no customisation available at all. You can get an AK-100 series polymer handguard, but no weapons for it. You can get the AKS-74U, but no components with slots for it.
Of course you could argue that you can scavenge some modifiable weapons during a raid, but:
We got stomped last night by an obviously high elo Zed and Lee sin playing on level 30 smurfs taunting and all chatting gitgud and hardstuck gold.
Our team was gold 2 to silver 4 in Tier 4 bracket.
The Lee and Zed were quite obviously high elo smurfs. Accounts were both level 30 with 80% winrates. No they were not onetricks. And yes we banned out what we could.
The entire point of the Tier system is to get placed in a bracket with similarly skilled people.
By requiring level 60+ or 75+ accounts the smurfing problem won't be entirely gone but it would reduce 90% of the problem without too much effect on the overall player base.
EDIT: Alternatively someone suggested requiring 50 ranked games on the account (can be lifetime, not necessarily this season) instead of level 60+ to enter Clash. That would also significantly reduce the problem.
EDIT 2: As noted by others here... The influx of smurfs has a lot to do with the Tier system possibly needing more Tiers. Having two Plat2 players... keep reading on reddit ➡
We reached level 9 a few weeks ago, I upcast a fireball to kill some monsters and an enemy wizards counterspelled it.
Just needed to share my sadness. Thank you for attending my pity party.
Edit: I want to thank everyone for joining my pity party, this party got 100x bigger than i was expecting.
So far Riot has announced their shooter, fighting game, mobile game and card game, all of these genres have huge esport fanbase. If Riot can successfully get these games accepted by the public, Worlds will not just be about League of Legends, it will be a f**king Summer Olympic. Imagine players from all these games compete during Worlds? It will be the greatest esport event ever. (If Worlds isn't already) And the popularity of League itself will help generating more and more players for other title every event.
Alright, so tonight we were playing in a Tier 4 adventure, and the party was fighting an evil wizard and his followers. Well, not really evil, more "hugely problematic," but when it's an archmage mucking about with the cosmos you don't take chances, right?
He casts a spell. Everyone makes a Wisdom saving throw. Many fail.
"You are thrown, reeling, through a portal into a realm of pure chaos. You tumble end over end in this directionless, formless realm. Torn apart, mind, body, soul, all ripping apart. You cannot survive. You will not survive."
"...Soooooo how much damage?"
"...because I've got a LOT of hp."
"Okay. First round." I cup my oversized man-hands into the dice bag, scoop up as many as I can hold, and tumble them out onto the table.
"Okay, let's divvy them up and get it counted."
"Oh man. We're dead. We're so dead. We pushed it too hard. We pushed <DM name> too hard. That's it, we're... goddamn dead."
I pass the surv... keep reading on reddit ➡
There are many silly names and conventions in CS, but nothing grinds my gears like the stupid fucking RAID naming scheme.
First of all, the names are utterly undescriptive. Like, what exactly is RAID 4 for example? Well the only piece of information you can pull out of that name is that it you're working with 2+ disks because, you know, RAID. That's it. Beyond that, you can't even begin to guess what it might be unless you already have an idea. It's just a stupid number that tells you nothing useful whatsoever. It doesn't even imply anything.
Second, who the hell thought using the word "level" to refer to different RAID configs was a good idea? That word followed by numbers comes with the inevitable implication that the RAIDs follow a natural progression of sorts, which is absolutely not true at all. Is RAID 1 a logical step up from RAID 0? No it's not. They're completely different stuff with completely different performance goals. There is no reasonable line of progression where yo... keep reading on reddit ➡
Just making sure everyone is aware. It's seemed likely this would be the case ever since they teased the new weight system, but now we know for sure.
With what's been described so far, if you are heavy enough to level strength passively, you will be playing under severe penalties the whole raid.
It's already pretty normal for people to be level 35 with like 5 strength. The exhaustion system made this even slower. Now, I think it's fair to say that whatever your current level of strength is, that's what it's staying.
Meanwhile, people with very high strength from the start of the wipe when levelling was easy and/or exploitable have weight limits of up to 90kg and can play as if this patch never happened.
I see a problem. Does anyone else see a problem?
Datto actually put it best in one of his recent videos, and I’m paraphrasing, but his basic observation was weapons don’t matter in D2.
As long as you’re at or over-leveled for the content tackled, you can use literally anything and be successful. Sure there will be more optimal weapons, but all content can be reliably crushed regardless.
Let’s go back to D1. As frustrating as forever 29 felt it kept the raid challenging for months, not less than a week like current Destiny raids. Sure later on cheeses were discovered, and full 30 power level/all Gajallerhorn fireteams emerged, but that raid was a challenging activity for a while. You would still fail encounters repeatedly with the wrong group.
Before Crota was being soloed with rock band drums or Ethernet cables were pulled that shit was HARD. You needed to prioritize adds as a team because they HURT. You needed to land crits effectively or you wouldn’t take them down fast enough. People moaned and called this “artificial difficu... keep reading on reddit ➡
Edit: A sip of water has the same effects as a nap whilst a cup of water has the same effects as a good night's rest. You can still nap and sleep normally if you don't want to stay awake 24/7 or just want to pass the time.
