In Outlander British subjects are shown as able to visit Paris on personal business and even meet King Louis XV even though Britain and France were fighting in the War of Austrian Succession. Is this accurate?
The second season/book for Outlander takes place during 1744-1745 and in it British aristocrats and even an army officer are shown as visiting France from Great Britain with the full knowledge of the respective governments for purposes of personal business such as arranging marriages. Is this something that did happen or couldβve realistically happened even though Great Britain and France were at war during this period?
