It was funny at first, even seeing whole subreddit dedicated to it but now I feel like itβs gotten to the point that Forever 21 is about to roll out a line of clothing called Shut up, Karen or something like that.
Edit: Thank you for the awards guys! Too kind. Hopefully more people see this thread and we can officially start to bury the beaten horse.
This happened yesterday at a Starbucks somewhere in the US. Obligatory Iβm on mobile.
Iβm a medical professional. Iβve been dealing with people who think COVID is a hoax, or not serious, etc. Please donβt debate that here, the post is not about that.
K : Karen Me : Me B : Barista
I walk into Starbucks and distance myself on the little circles they have that are six feet away from each other. There are just a few people in the store and itβs pretty big so overall so I felt safe. Iβm minding my business, browsing Reddit, when this Karen walks in. I didnβt notice her until I heard a barista say βexcuse me you need a mask to be inside the storeβ. I turn to witness a look of horror on this womanβs face, as if she didnβt see the countless signs stating you need a mask, and or she didnβt realize there was a pandemic.
K: All I want is a coffee. B: Iβll be happy to make you one when you put a mask on. K: But... Me: Nope. K: What? Me: Nope. These workers donβt get paid enough to make coffee and babysit children. K: Excu- Me: Nope. K: I- Me: Out. she goes to speak again Nope, out.
It felt like I was talking to a misbehaving puppy, and she looked just as sad. So she turned to the only line of defense she had left.
K: Iβll get you fired! Me: I donβt work here. K: Iβll find your boss! Me: I am my boss.
She short circuits, makes that weird grunting angry sound and leaves.
I canβt stand when these anti-maskers involve people who arenβt paid to deal with their shit. And even people who are? Not paid enough.
TL:DR Maskless Karen wants coffee and I defended the baristas.
Edit: Youβre all kind and Iβm glad that there are more people out there who are willing to stand up for others.
UPDATE at the bottom!
Sooo this is a weird one. Not my story, but a friend who messaged me right after it happened to vent, cuz WTAF??
Karen = Entitled Mother SK = Sweet Kid F = My Friend
So Karen moved into the apartment next to F's a couple of weeks ago. Karen has struck up short, polite conversations with F just 2 times in that period, with the 2nd being yesterday, the day before this whole fiasco unfolded.
This morning at about 9am, while F was having a nice Saturday breakfast (she gets up at 6am on weekdays, so this was a weekend lie-in for her), someone started aggressively banging on her front door. When F answered, Karen was standing there with SK (5yo girl), who had a little backpack on. Sounding very flustered, Karen said she was sorry to have to ask this with no notice, but could F please watch SK for "a few hours", because Karen had "somewhere really important to be".
Now, something you need to understand about F is that she can't stand kids and has no idea how to deal with them. Like, she tenses up and gets super awkward if a kid so much as waves at her in the supermarket. F is also disabled. She uses a motorised wheelchair sometimes and a walking cane for short distances or when she's just pottering around her own home. She lives with her girlfriend, who is also her carer. Her chronic illnesses involve fainting spells and a lot of brain fog, so by her own account, she's absolutely not someone who should be left in charge of a child.
Karen has seen F using both her wheelchair and her cane, and has seen F's girlfriend (who was at work when this all happened) helping her in and out of their car.
So F responded with a firm NO, explaining that her medical conditions meant that SK would not be safe in her care and that she's not well enough atm to have any guests (let alone an unattended kid) in her home, anyway.
Karen immediately flipped from pleading and simpering to hand-on-hip indignation, at this point, accusing F of "faking" her disabilities (because, of course, if she can walk AT ALL, then she obviously doesn't actually need a wheelchair, right?? π) and threatened to report her to Centrelink (welfare) if F didn't watch SK for her. Nevermind the fact that F isn't on welfare, lol. Her girlfriend has a high-paying job and F works somewhere between part-time and full-time hours from home most weeks (she's a goddamn machine and I don't know how she manages it). News flash: not all disabled people are unable to work. Although, of course

Heckspawn on the snowmobile, Karen gets HUMILIATED by owner
Long time lurker and listener and IΒ΄m proud to say that I encountered my very first Karen!
So this happened about a week ago when I was asked to fill in for a friend at a skicenter (Yes ski centers are allowed to be open in my country due to it being outside). The layout of the area is somewhat important to the story, so allow me to give you a short tour. There are five ski lifts from left to right: Family lift, kiddie lift (which is just a rope that the kids hold on to and it takes them about 10m up), two anchor lifts beside each other and the last one leads to "the street" which is for rails and jumps, none of them are gondola lifts as the center only requires anchor lift.
I was working at the, so called "family lift", which is meant for families with little kids, this means that the slope is small compared to the rest so that everyone in the family can ride together. Next to the thre lift I was working at is a "sledding slope" which is for people who just want to come sledding and this is free, meaning you donΒ΄t need a ski pass to enter.
Also every lift has a snowmobile, and I had mine parked next to the lift so I could have somewhere to sit if I wanted to and due to the cold the suspension was somewhat frozen which meant that when someone took a seat on the snowmobile it made a sound.
Now to the story, we have Entitled Snow Karen ESK, Heckspawn HS 1 and 2 and Me being me.
I was helping a young girl onto the lift as she was having problems (that was one of my tasks at work) and when I had my back turned while helping the girl I heard the suspension creak and my first thought was that "Oh my turn to go get lunch", as I thought it was my co-worker, buuuuut nope.... I turn around and see two of Karens heckspawn trying to start the snowmibile!
Me: Hey! What on earth do You think youΒ΄re doing??
HS1: We want to drive the snowmobile!!
HS2: Yeah! WeΒ΄re going to drive it up the slope!
Me: No you canΒ΄t do that.. You are not old enough, (you have to be at least 16 to drive one and they were about 5-6 years old), and you canΒ΄t drive this unless you work here.
HS2: But mum said we could!
Me: Idc what your mum says, you are not allowed on it. I need you to lea... aaaaand guess who cut me off..
ESK: WHY ARE YOU TALKING TO MY BABIES?!?!
Me: MaΒ΄m, are they your heckspawn?
ESK: Yes! Now tell me why you are talking to them!
Me: They were on the snowmo

5:13 am phone wakes me up. "Hello?" "This is Terry from Bmart, Lucy you have to work this weekend!" Me trying to grasp reality as my brain is still sleeping and I dont know any Lucy, or this caller Terry. "Hey Terry, you dialed wrong number. Lose it please." I hang up the phone and almost drift back to sleep when it rings again and I stupidly answer it. Terry "You hang up on me again I will fire your butt! You are to work the weekend or find another job!!!!" No, she didn't say butt, she said much worse and now I decided to have some fun with this. The result was very lifting I might add. Caller had a southern accent so no clue how they could be even calling me to begin with. Me "Terry, if you want me in it's over time Saturdays, double time Sundays. I want this in writing or I will not come in!!!" Figured this would end the call and I could get back to sleep and only disturbance would be my daughter's cat who decided to pay me a visit and dig her claws into my covers, ignoring the fact shes sharpening them on me. I was dead wrong. I had to listen to Terry give me some spiel on company policy for full timers and open ability. I cut her off in mid sentence..... "Terry, I could care less about company policy!! You want me to work this weekend, you are paying me what I require and your putting this in writing!! Also, because you annoyed me by waking me twice, I now will only work double time Saturday and Tripple time Sundays.... Take it or leave it!! Oh, don't forget, thats $15.00 an hour!! That means $30 an hour Saturdays, $45 an hour Sun.........." I never got to finish saying Sunday, because this is what happened next... Terry "whly sht whly sht, I don't even make $15 an hour, why the hell do you!!!" Next thing I know, her yelling attracted other staff and I can hear yelling in the background of why the hell does she make $15 and I only get $9 with others in background yelling why is Lucy getting $15 and I could no longer make out who was saying what other then Terry telling someone I refuse to come in unless I get OT which is when some guy takes over the call. "This is Bill the general manager, Lucy, what is this about not coming in unless you get OT and where the hell are you getting $15 an hour from?" Me "You want me in, those are my terms! Stop calling and wa

My cousin (23,F) recently opened up her own salon. From a young age, she taught herself how to thread/wax eyebrows and developed an interest in makeup and hair. Everyone in our extended family would go to her before events and on a monthly basis for their threading, waxing, hair and makeup needs. In 2020, she had a full-time job (non-salon related) but decided to renovate the basement of her home to create a small salon space. She now spends her free time taking clients in her at-home salon and there's nothing but great reviews! Her sister helped with the renovations and now helps her with marketing the business (social media, community pages) and I help with the finances (budgeting, price-setting). We all support her and are really proud of her! The salon is our baby.
We're now in the middle of a pandemic and this greatly affected her salon business. As a result, she implemented safety measures and our small team made sure to keep up with covid regulations in our city. This included having one customer inside at a time, doing temperature checks, making masks/face shields and gloves mandatory, wiping down the salon after each client...etc. Also, when our city was in lockdown, the salon was closed as it is not an essential service.
Incident
Our city is once again in lockdown since the end of December to the end of January. The salon has been closed since the lockdown began. The salon's social media pages had been updated to let the current clientele know that the salon is closed.
Now comes the Karen. Karen sees a community post from OCTOBER detailing a discount that the salon was having on a certain package we offer. She comments on the post saying that she can't believe the salon is open in the middle of a lockdown when her salon has to be closed. This is important for later. Karen fails to notice that this post was made in October, when salons were allowed to operate as long as they followed safety regulations. Karen doesn't bother checking more recent posts indicating that the salon was closed. My cousin doesn't see her reply at this time.
The next day, two police officers show up at my cousin's door while she's at a doctor's appointment. The officers ask for my cousin and my aunt lets them know that she's not home right now. My aunt does not speak English very well and lets the officers know that she would call my cousin and ask her to come home. Maybe the officers didn't believe her but they insisted on coming inside the h
