I hate jewellery:(

Even just typing this word makes me toes curl ugh. I'm not sure why exactly but I hated it for as long as I remember caring. I'm a heterosexual male and when I see a girl on tinder or OkCupid have rings or like, a bunch of random necklaces, it's just an immediate left swipe from me.

I don't judge the people at all and hope I don't come across this way, of course it's everyone's free choice how they choose to present themselves. It's just my personal preference which I think might be 10thdentist material considering how almost all women I come across choose to wear some form of jewellery, which I feel limits my "dating pool" to maybe a 10th of it's original size.

The idea of toe rings being a thing is so off putting to me I try not to think about it.. but not even going as far as this, any sort of piercing (except in the ear lobes) or ring is just an immediate deal breaker for me to be romantically or physically attracted to a person.

Again I want to make clear I'm not asking for people to change, I just want to express my weird opinion on this.

I (28F) told my stepsister (29F) I was getting a divorce and she immediately asked me if she could have the jewellery he bought me.

My stepsister and I were both only children who always wanted a sibling before our parents got married so we grew very close, very quickly. So, she was the first person I told I was getting a divorce.

Her response was β€œdoes that mean you’re going to get rid of all of that jewellery he bought you? Can I have it?”. Even when I asked her why that was her first response, she tried to play it off as a joke. Then she told me she knew it wasn’t going to last, that it was for the best and she gave me some weird motivational speech. Before I hung up, she asked me about the jewellery again.

I thought she would be more supportive and concerned about me, but she clearly only cared about the jewellery. Also, it really hurt to hear her say she knew it wasn’t going to last.

When she divorced her husband, I was there for her night and day, every single week for 4 months straight.

She has called me a few times since, I haven’t answered and has sent me multiple texts apologising but I just feel meh and I don’t want to speak to her right now. Our parents are now getting involved so I need advice on how to handle this and what to say to them.

TL;DR – Stepsister immediately asked me if she could have the jewellery my husband bought me after I told her we were divorcing. I haven’t spoken to her since and now our parents are getting involved.

AITA for telling my husband to not by me expensive jewellery for this exact reason?

Look I am clumsy and I lose/misplace things so frequently it’s not funny. I have been since I was a kid. I’ve broken every phone I’ve ever had. My laptop has a crack in it. My switch has scratches on the screen, recently just got a screen protector. My nice white tshirts always get stains on them when I wear them (thankfully my mum is a miracle worker at getting them out) I snapped a $350 gold earring I got for Christmas 2 years ago the DAY after I got them. I swear I’m cursed. Like legitimately cursed. But I can live with it. I just don’t buy overly expensive things and if I do I get insurance/warranty or a protector.

I told my husband when we first started talking about marriage to not buy me an expensive ring. I don’t care if it’s a real diamond or a cubic zirconia nothing that he wouldn’t complain if I lost or broke. Y’all I’m not joking when I say he bought me a ring over 1k (which is expensive to me my car is worth less than that). At first I would wear it only on dates and family events but he started getting upset. And low and behold I lost it and the wedding band while camping. He said he wasn’t mad and it wasn’t a big deal he’ll get me a new one. (Please note that we’re not rich and the only reason we could even get a one AND a new one is because of lay-bys and I’d much rather that money went to other more important things)

So again I told him nothing expensive, seriously. He went out and got a ring set worth more than the original (it was on quite a sale so it itself wasn’t as expensive but without the sale it was more) I again stopped wearing them unless we were on a date or at a family thing. Again he started getting upset so I started wearing them again. I recently got a job at a butchers. I put my rings in my money pouch and then inside a zipped part of my purse while actually working and put them back on when I’m done.

Can you believe what happened? Somehow I lost the big ring but not the two bands. I don’t know how, I don’t know where, I’ve turned the house upside down, and my parents house, and asked my workmates to see if it’s in the office (where we keep our bags). No one can find it anywhere. I’m absolutely devastated and this is why I don’t wear them all the time.

Now my husband is mad at me saying I lost it on purpose so I could get a new one and I’m throwing away money. I told him I didn’t want an expensive ring in the first place and I’m going to pick my own this time. I’ve looked and there’s a nice cubic zirconia one t

Stop buying cheap jewellery off Taobao.

Holy shit I keep seeing this a lot.

Cheap jewellery often uses LEAD to bulk out the weight, and make it feel more "premium."

Lead is neurotoxic, and once it gets into your body, it's pretty much there for life. It builds up, and causes neurological damage.

IK everyone wants to look like a baller with their Viv necklaces and fake chains, but please just buy from a reputable source.

If you buy jewellery in Europe, or the US, it cannot legally contain dangerous amounts of lead.

You can pick up nice (actual) silver chains for Β£100, rings for Β£40-70. Support local artists, and stop poisoning your brain.

EDIT: Because people are having a fit, Survival Source and David produce jewellery that has been tested to be safe. I would always recommend testing jewellery if you do not know the source.

Just wanting to hear some dirty/gross jewellery horror stories!

Nobody ever talks about this - as an apprentice I was not at all prepared for how truly disgusting jewellery can be!

Along with the regular gross stuff (like human teeth, cremains etc)... I was shocked by the neck-skin/hair "jam"stuck in necklaces... rotten food gunk and (probably actual) shit filling up rings that never get taken off except to hand to the poor jeweller... and literally all of the above plus blood stuck in watchbands.

Random survey about MBTI types and their jewellery choices that I made just for fun

Hellooo,

I am an 18 year old girl from London. I am studying full-time at university while also running my own handmade jewellery shop on Etsy, called "Mel Yu Store". By making this Google Forms https://forms.gle/piDyxrKSKthnPVFRA I am trying to find out more about what the different MBTI types like in terms of types of jewellery and which of my jewellery pieces they like. I am curious to find out if there is a pattern.

I will also be making an Instagram post about the most popular of my designs for each MBTI type. This form is super informal and just for fun (lol). It is anonymous and I am only curious about the type and choices.

All the jewellery pics you will see are my own unique designs and all are handmade by me.

My mbti type is ENFP btw!

I really appreciate your help!

Mini TB Haul - Prada Cleo (A+), Prada Leather Loafers (A+++), CD Reversible Sweater (B), Vivienne Westwood jewellery (A)

Hi all! My first formal review! Hopefully you'll find the info in this review helpful and feel free to message if I've missed anything or you require anything further. I used Basetao as my shipping agent and for this particular haul, their PSP's were less than adequate which isn't their usual form tbh. Must've had an off week?!?Personally I don't ever return what I term "budget" items as I appreciate the seller is trying to make a living and some of the goods cost less than a bottle of wine when you put it in perspective, so PSP's aren't really THAT important to me. Side note : they ARE important to me when I'm spending as much or more on one bag via a TS as I do for this entire haul!! On with the show ......

DISCLOSURE: Nothing to disclose - straight up ordering from TB with no discussion with sellers or discounts/incentives

SELLER: All items from Taobao via Basetao (links to individual stores in body of review)

PAYMENT METHOD: Basetao via Paypal

SHIPPING COST: Y342 (including fees & Insurance) AUD68 via EMS/Australia Post

ORDER TIMELINE:

  • Submitted order to Basetao on 31st March 2021
  • All goods finally received into warehouse on 12th April 2021
  • Goods shipped from warehouse on 13th April 2021

The leather is very smooth all over with a nice hand feel however two small dents in the rear side mar its perfection and I'm hoping that they may come out with wear (-.5). The strap also has a nice hand feel and is true to auth in terms of length and leather strap retainers which are well stitched with the seams inward facing. The stitching is even everywhere and - hate to say it - better than some of the auth LV I have, No glue marks. No loose threads. A little resident fufu straight from the box.

SafeGem is listed on CoinMarketCap, CoinGecko, Stocktwits and tens of other coin-listing and ranking websites. The team is pushing for Blockfolio listing, a Techrate Audit and marketing plan which is already in progress. They are also negotiating with several exchanges for listing. The preview of SafeGem's native wallet "SafeGem Wallet" was revealed this week. Good progress has been made on the NFT contract, the first nfts were successfully minted by Dev. Their business model has been validated by top jewelers and there is a growing interest and demand for NFT certification. They have also announced an Advisory Program to partner up with other businesses and perfect their business case and usability.

The team would rather deliver than keep promising a lot and delivering little since they are committed to the project. When compared to other projects, this is one of the strong qualities of the team. Curiosity and reflection about GLDN, Analuisa and similar jewellery

I was thinking about buying a necklace and I was searching for similar pieces and information about the brand. I discovered that a lot of Etsy sellers sell Chinese items as "handmade" and here it comes my doubt. If you go to Aliexpress you find a ton of products with identical photos of the GLDN ones. I also made a Tineye search and the photos used by GLDN are everywhere and now I'm just asking myself who posted it first lol

example: https://tineye.com/search/88c3abc5b184cd1f741fbf0adc1e2317cdc1600e?sort=score&order=desc&page=1

Product on Aliexpress: https://it.aliexpress.com/item/4001282932712.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.1046788au1y8HN&algo_pvid=fb6684ca-4130-4ebe-a856-ed77fe493dab&algo_expid=fb6684ca-4130-4ebe-a856-ed77fe493dab-2&btsid=0b0a01f816203008561698981ebe50&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_

This brand sells mostly gold plated items, and we all know about the issue of gold plated vs solid gold in terms of tarnishing. Some people keep buying priced gold plated pieces and then say that they lasted only few months and I bought a lot of products from Chinese sites like Aliexpress and I'll tell you that some of those lasted pretty well too.

With that said can I also think that instead of buying a 50$ gold-plated item I should spend 2$ for an almost identical one that will tarnish too?

What do you think about it?

Random survey about MBTI types and their jewellery choices that I made just for fun - Would love to have some ISTJ responses!

Would love to see ISTJ responses!

I really appreciate your help!

SafeGem πŸ’Ž will revolutionize the Jewellery Industry by Authenticating Precious Stones with NFTs - Trending on CMC & Gecko πŸ”₯

The project has been active for 1 month now and has amassed a large following of 32,000 shareholders. Currently, trending πŸ”₯ on CoinMarketCap and one of the Top Gainers even though the market has been down. The crew has been working nonstop to fulfill all of the commitments. Our developers are getting closer to finalizing the NFT contract, which will be utilized in the partner portal, in addition to rebranding and marketing activities. SafeGem is going parabolic! πŸ“ˆ

Their goal is to create an NFT platform that can be used to authenticate valuable stones and jewels πŸ’Ž all around the world. Overriding traditional paper certification, SafeGem will use blockchain technology to issue digital certifications and passports to gems producers/dealers. SafeGem will feature an NFT partner site that will allow jewellery dealers to create unique NFTs that are particular to the precious stones they are selling. A mobile application will be developed to aid their services and their customers may use the app to verify the legitimacy of NFT certifications.

SafeGem's made good progress on all fronts

  • $7m MarketCap
  • 32,000 holders
