This was one of the more striking projections from Nate Silver I noticed. The model values him as a $11.9m player over the next 5 seasons, with a low floor and a low ceiling. His other comps include Spencer Hawes, Eddy Curry, etc.

How do you guys think James Wiseman will perform next season? And what is a realistic expectation? There were flashes of potential with his 3 point shooting, athleticism and shot blocking ability but obviously his BBIQ needs a lot of work.

> βIt actually started as an agreement with (Warriors center) James Wiseman,β Kerr said this week. βWe were on a road trip somewhere, and I asked James how he was doing. Itβs obviously a long season and he had his ups and downs. We were in a conversation about life in general and I asked him about social media. We started talking about it. I said, βWhat you say we take a break, we both take a break for a few weeks. Get off Twitter and anything else youβre on.β He said, βYes, letβs do it.β
> βIβve been off ever since. And itβs been bliss.β
> Wiseman curtailed his tweeting -- two tweets, two retweets since March -- but Kerr is well into his fifth month of social-media silence. After punching out 15 tweets in the last week of March, he holstered his Twitter fingers and doesnβt know when, or if, heβll use them again. What began as a bet with a player has become a boycott.
> βItβs never been harder to be a professional athlete or a person in the limelight,β Kerr said. βItβs like life is a big minefield. Weβre all human; we all make mistakes. But social media has made mistakes unforgivable. Itβs a just a terrible way to treat one another.β
> Kerr still has a thirst for news and his concern about social and political issues. Heβs an advocate for stricter gun laws and voting rights. Such matters are important and heβs not going to abandon them.
> He simply has lost the desire to see and hear the sights and sounds around them.
> βStaying away from all the BS and all the divisiveness and the rhetoric and the anger, itβs much healthier,β Kerr said. βItβs a much healthier way to live.
>βI have no plans to go back.β
>βTo me, the most interesting thing has been watching Deandre Ayton. I talked to James (Wiseman) and texted him, and Iβm just so inspired by what Ayton has been able to do, and I think thereβs no reason why James canβt follow that same path.β
>Steve Kerr just now on @DRK957
Chris Bosh on James Wiseman: βI truly believe in Wiseman. All he has to do is set screens for Steph and Klay (Thompson), and roll, and heβll be open all next season ... they just have to really enjoy the situation that theyβre in right now.β https://www.sfchronicle.com/sports/jenkins/article/Why-Steph-Curry-and-Kevin-Durant-are-both-right-16337494.php
βHeβs right on schedule for everything and, as of now, medical team tells me he will be ready for camp," Steve Kerr told The Athletic's Anthony Slater during a conversation last week. βOver the long haul, we're gonna develop James and we feel like he's gonna be our starting center at some point for a long, long time." https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/warriors/warriors-james-wiseman-schedule-training-camp-return
How will Wiseman haters spin this? This is just more proof that NBA bigs take longer to develop than guards and wings. Mobley is considered to be a better overall prospect than Wiseman but he played worse against inferior competition. People need to go to the Cavs subreddit and see their pragmatic view on Mobley's performance. Unlike some Warrior "fans" on here who unfairly hate on Wiseman the Cavs fans aren't unfairly criticizing Mobley. They aren't clamoring for Barnes or Suggs. Wiseman's 39 game rookie season after 3 college games, no summer league, no training camp, and limited practices due to a condensed schedule should be treated with the same level of pragmatism.

The Hornets again ended up with the guy the dubs passed on. Obviously Bouknight will significantly outperform Kuminga as a rookie. Hopefully dubs fans won't complain too much like they did for Wiseman over Ball. 5 years from now is when this debate can be fully evaluated.
From The Athletic's Tim Kawakami's recent "The TK Show" Episode Released Today featuring Anthony Slater: "Warriors Beat Writer Anthony Slater"
> TK: Where do you think they are on the likelihood of packaging any one of Wiseman, 2 lottery picks, and Wiggins to make a dramatic move for a veteran? > > AS: I think it's not extremely likely. It's a situation where I think the league presumes and wants them to be more desperate to make the move than they are and that kind of creates a tough trade package where, you know, maybe they're willing to give up some of that package. Maybe, "Wiggins, Wiseman, and the 14th pick", but they want to keep the 7th. Stuff they might think is fair value. And again, they're not in deep trade talks where they would even be discussing this cause most of these players we are even talking about haven't even officially asked out. But maybe by the time people are listening to this, Damiam Lilliard has. > > You had Joe Lacob on the podcast. And I understand that he's not going to be fully transparent about everything, but he's kind of, at times to a fault, almost a little bit too honest with you where he comes on. He really likes James Wiseman. He's not fronting. He LOVED the pick. He still thinks James Wiseman has a much more positive future than not only what pundits out there think, but the league, I think, believes [the Warriors FO] are more down on James Wiseman than they are. And the league might be more down on James Wiseman than the Warriors are. And the Warriors are high on these lottery picks. > > I know Joe Lacob has been a part of this process. He's in there during workouts. He has his own draft board. And Joe Lacob, I think has messaged out to you and from what I've heard behind the scenes, there's not just this unlimited tax number that he doesn't care about. He wants 3 rookie contracts on the books. Controllable rookie contracts that come to be bargains because his belief James Wiseman will become a player. And of course they all are going to believe they are going to hit on 7, hit on 14. It's on them to do that. It's on them to develop. And btw, one of their messages this summer - the coach staff. They are all in on trying to develop. Bringing in [Jama] Mahlalela, Kenny Atinkson, [Dejan] MilojeviΔ. **I think it's much more likely than not they use 7, th
... keep reading on reddit β‘The dubs dynasty was formed around the players they drafted previously - curry. Klay. Green.
Interesting they still have those on the roster and added 3 of the best talents in the last two draft pools.
They might trade them out but impressive amount of young talent coming into a contending team. Former number 1 pick and quite talented and productive wiggins too

> Good to know: Although there is no exact timetable for James Wisemanβs recovery from knee surgery, general manager Bob Myers still intends to enlist Kevin Garnett and David West for mentoring sessions with the young center. Thatβs top-level instruction. Itβs worth noting, too, that a primary reason behind the Warriors adding Dejan Milojevic to their coaching staff was to work with Wiseman. Milojevic has a long track record of developing big men in his native Serbia, including Nikola Jokic, Ivica Zubac and Boban Marjanovic.

> βI truly believe in Wiseman. All he has to do is set screens for Steph and Klay (Thompson), and roll, and heβll be open all next season ... they just have to really enjoy the situation that theyβre in right now.β
I can see some of you have forgot that already, calling kuminga our best young prospect. The truth is we have 2 future MVPs on our roster, not just one. A little perspective please
> Wiseman, the second overall pick in last yearβs draft, offered his thoughts about the torn meniscus injury in a video diary for The Undefeated:
>
>βItβs kind of hard,β Wiseman said. βI was really down. I can say that I was crying a lot. Yeah, it was bad. My mom had to actually tell me everything was gonna be all right. But I got a great family support system. I, really, just me mentally. Iβm a strong human being, so I just got through it naturally. I just love the game of basketball so much that I couldnβt even fathom not playing with my teammates. That kind of took a lot out of me.β
Pretty sad to see a young player like him get injured and the toll that it took on him, but you can really tell how much love he has for the game.
On @DRK957, @NickFriedell asked Steve Kerr if he knows enough about Wiseman to keep him out of trade conversations this Summer?
"How many players are truly untouchable in the NBA? LeBron, Steph & Giannis? That's about it. Everybody is tradable." https://twitter.com/957thegame/status/1383193267496357889?s=21
βWhen Bob clarified to the news reporters that he wasn't going to trade me, that gave me a lot of confidence within myself," Wiseman said in his latest video diary for The Undefeated. "And it's just the fact that I've been having confidence in myself.
"I know what I'm capable of."
Even though Wiseman has plenty of self-confidence, he did admit the Warriors have had to remind him of that confidence and understanding just how good he can be.
"The craziest thing about that is, and they had to tell me about that, because it drives me," Wiseman said. "It fuels me to keep going and just work even harder." https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/warriors/james-wiseman-gained-confidence-bob-myers-no-trade-comments
