Jamboard Tile Play

I made a JAMBOARD LETTER TILE play you can make copy and edit if you want. Β  Letter Tile Play is a great way for kids to see ONE sound but made of 2+letters (because they are on the same tile). Β  I did this because some younger kids cannot play and share their screen, and so on Jamboard you both are looking at same screen. Β  I also did this because although Blast online offers free tile play for anyone, they leave out trigraphs (-tch,-dge) and vowel combos (ie, ee, ea, oa,igh, etc) Β chucks (all, ing, etc) prefixes-suffixes, and they want schools pay more to have access all of these β€˜extras’, even if you have a subscription.

Copy Jamboard template and add anything you want by copying and pasting tiles, adding vowel combos, trigraphs, e.t.c. Β  ☺Here is the link for Blast’s FREE tile play, which is nice if kids can share their screens, but is missing the β€˜extras’Really Great Reading Tile Play Β  ☺Here is my template you can copy (keep an extra copy for yourself for easy clean up after. My Jamboard Tile Play Template...make a copy

Physical Jamboard + Zoom Videoconferencing and how it all operates.

We are looking at purchasing a physical Jamboard and wanted to know if anyone else has used this and has been able to integrate it into Zoom Videoconferencing?!

Actually, how does it integrate with Google Meets..let’s start with that one lol. We have a windows pc in our conferencing room. My understanding was that to integrate the Jamboard into a Google Meet on the computer you need to have Google Meet Hardware.

Does google meet hardware support Zoom and will it work with that?!

So many questions and unfortunately the internet isn’t full of answers on this one.

Thanks!

Tips for helping my kids shrink their windows on Chromebooks so they can see Zoom + the activity we are doing (Jamboard, Kahoot, etc) at the same time?

I teach high school self-contained. My students function between a preschool and 2nd grade equivalent. Most have verbal skills, but are very limited (1-2 word utterances, not always strong receptive language). I do have a couple who are nonverbal. Very little parental support/engagement for the most part. We are full remote with no option for in-person.

We just got Chromebooks, which is a huge step up from having iPads at the start of remote learning in March. I'm trying to teach the kids how to split their screen...like shrink Zoom to take up half the screen, open Kahoot (for example) in the web browser, then shrink the web browser to take up the other half of the screen.

I made a tutorial video using one of the Chromebooks when they came in explaining every step (using Screencastify). We have watched it about 20 times, and walked through each step in real time on Zoom. Only about half my class was able to figure it out. The rest either just sat there (not touching the keyboard/touch pad/mouse, even with prompting) or kept saying "I need help" but couldn't describe what the problem was. I know there must be a better way for me to be teaching this tech skill remotely.

Sitting and talking "at" the kids is soooo disengaging, and we have very little success with any sort of "independent" work that requires student engagement (like ClassKick assignments or interactive Google Suite activities). With the Chromebooks, they can't take remote control of my screen, they can't annotate while I'm screensharing, and they can't allow me to take remote control of their screen. These were all features we relied heavily on that I'm very sad to lose. I'm also TOTALLY open to any suggestions for me to make my teaching more engaging on Zoom.

Jamboard keeps kicking out and reconnecting people joining via the web app

G'day legends. Thanks so much and sorry if this isn't in line with the sub.

I use Jamboard for training and it's awesome, everyone doodling on it and writing out phrases etc. Problem is:

When I'm connected and give out the link, lots of people join and some of them have a recurring 'reconnecting' popping up on their screen, and sometimes a prompt to 'log in in another tab' or similar. Some would have it, others not. I've done loads of googling, pouring through the seemingly non-existent help forum, and generally jiggling. Does anyone have any hints for me please?

How to stop accidentally pressing back-button when drawing using Jamboard in landscape mode on samsung Galaxy tablet s6Lite

I'm using Jamboard app to draw as virtual whiteboarding on S6lite.

In the Landscape mode, the home/back button aligns on the longer side of the tablet, so as right-handed when drawing the hand rests right on top of the Back-button. This makes the jamboard close whenever trying to draw anything.

  • How do others handle this issue?
  • How to use it so it hand doesn't press back button all the time?

(In portrait mode, the jamboard drawing screen shrinks to 1/3rd the size of S6lite screen, which makes it almost unusable in portrait mode.)

Remarkable tablet and Jamboard

I use Jamboard frequently to share handwritten equations with people in video meetings. Is there a way to use Remarkable for Jamboard writing? I am still waiting for the tablet to deliver so haven't had a chance to do hacks. I guess there may be a way to install a web browser, or maybe there is an app specialized for Jamboard. Can anyone who has tried Jamboard on Remarkable share the experience?
