In remembrance of all the teams who have played in top-flight Italian football but have never won a title (WARNING: long post)

I realize this post is a quite a bit longer than some of the other stuff on this subreddit but I thought I'd share anyways. The title is pretty self-explanatory, and I'm just going to do a brief writeup on every team that has played in Serie A but has yet to win a league title. Only 16 different teams have been crowned league champions in Italian history and it can be difficult to remember the ones that haven't won yet. Here goes!

Atalanta: Atalanta has played 60 seasons in Serie A (including the last 9 and last 13 of 14) and yet have never finished higher than 3rd, and even that only happened last season. They're a good team, but I think they're just too far behind to have any realistic shot for the title this season. At least fans can celebrate their 1963 Coppa Italia win over Torino.

Parma: they have played 26 seasons in Serie A and have no league titles to their name. Parma's best finish in recent history was 2nd in the 1996-97 season. Hopefully Parma can stay in Serie A

Italian Report Speculates How Many Points Could Be Enough To Win The Serie A Title & Details How Inter Can Achieve It

In today’s print edition, Tuttosport have shared their belief that the Serie A title could be won with a points total of between 90 and 92 points.

As things currently stand, Juventus are leading the title race with 57 points to their name. Lazio are in second place with 56 points and Inter are down in third with 54 points.

In order for Inter to reach 90 points, they need to pick up 36 points from the remaining 42 available to them in the final 14 games of the 2019/20 season. To do this, Inter could win 12 of the last 14 and lose twice or win 11 games and draw the other three of them.

Given the pace Lazio have picked up points, the report goes on to state that as many as 94 points might be needed in order to win the title. To achieve this points total, Inter would need to go the rest of the season undefeated and win 13 games and draw once.

Looking for title of Italian mafia/organized crime movie

first off: it's not Goodfellas, Casino or any other American movie I am looking for. About two years ago, I watched a movie about organized crime in Italy and as far as I remember, it was an Italian production. The movie was relatively new, not older than 2006 I guess. Set in Italy, I remember several scenes about it. The beginning of the movie was in a garage with a guy working on a car. Later on, it was mostly about a woman that accompanied (forcibly?) another man in Italy. At one point the woman talked to some boys at a gas station while the man was at a construction site. Later on, there was some sort of hitman job done, but I don't remember much about that. There were also later some scenes with several woman in a small house at a beach, one of the women being African.

Is it usual in mainland Italy for Italians to refer to the younger members of their family by their own familial titles?

I've noticed my best friend and his family will refer to the members of their family who are younger in age by their own titles, rather than the titles of the younger member. This sounds a bit confusing, but what I mean with examples is:

  • When my friend talks to his son, he may greet him like: "Ehi, papi, come stai?"
  • When he talks to one of his nieces, he may say: "Ehi, zio, come stai?"
  • When his mother talks to him, she may say: "Ehi, mammi, come stai?"

This doesn't seem to work in reverse with younger family members referring to older members the same way.

I was wondering if this was usual in mainland Italy as well, as my friend and his family are originally Italians from Egypt, so I was curious if it was maybe more a Levantine thing, or more general than that?

(*I know "papi" and "mammi" sound Spanish, but I asked my friend about that and he said it's not related to Spanish, but merely used as a diminutive of "papΓ " and "mamma".)

I need help finding the title of a strange Italian movie

It was suggested that I post this over here, so if this isn't appropriate, let me know.

Several years ago I saw strange Italian movie on tv. I don't know if it was an actual theatrical release or a made for tv movie. I think it was made sometime in the early 2000's.

It was about a homeless woman who pursues a wealthy but emotionally damaged man. Both characters decided to go on a pilgrimage up a mountain to a Marian shrine, but I believe one of them dies. That's pretty much how I remember it. I understand the movie could be a little obscure, but if anyone knows the movie I'm talking about, and it's title, it would be appreciated.

I wanted to translate my book into italian, but upon further research into what the country may think of the creature, apparently it is not wise like they say in america but more so bad omens and harbingers.

So with the books title being Bianca and the Snow Owl, now I have to question, does anyone here know if they are such bad symbols? Or would they be able to get past the owl fact of it?

Edit - Well after hearing from you all; I'm glad to know owls are not bad luck then, I shall continue with the translation, and hopefully any of those that find it will enjoy it.

A lot of Northern Italians consider southern Italians to be Hillbillies. Funny thing is, Southern Italians are more likely to be educated .

I live in the U.S. but I visit Italy often, and my family lives near Venice, but in this tiny ass town that doesn’t appear on most maps. As I said in the title, it’s common for Northern Italians at least where I go often to say Southern Italians are dumbass hillbillies, but the main person who preaches this spiel is my older cousin who’s family literally lives in a small villa divided into three apartments in a small enclosed community that farms. It’s close to civilization but when you go there it just seems so fucking isolated. And it’s like, this guy, who is kinda racist I gotta say, goes around calling southern Italians la parolaccia that means hillbilly that I don’t remember, and honestly, I just needed to get this off my chest in a place where people would have it understand the context. An dues I can speak, read, and write Italian, just very badly.

One is the bread and pasta guy, the other is the meat and cheese guy. In the shop next door is an appliance store (TV's and radios). The appliance stores owners have a beautiful daughter (Tammy) who is being pursued by a young-ish "vice president" of a bank or insurance company. She however is into a rock and roll guy named "Carlo". During the inevitable "comedy of errors" Carlo goes into the country to visit his old Mother (maybe a grandmother) who breaks out into a long song about "Carlo", and of course Carlo breaks out into a song about "Tammy" while they frolic around a small amusement park (kinda like an interlude you'd see on The Monkees). Meanwhile the store owners get in a jam but work it out (not so sure of the details here)

Saw it at the Airport waiting for a connection- was thinking of looking it to- and had no luck.

[Italian > English] Title of Liszt's Dante Sonata

Hi, I'm looking for help translating the title of this piece: Après une lecture du Dante: Fantasia quasi Sonata (French for After a Reading of Dante: Fantasia quasi Sonata.

I copied that in from Wikipedia to give some context, but all I really want to know is what does 'Fantasia quasi Sonata' mean in English?

Thanks for any and all help!

It’s VENEZIA!!

You know Paris, France? In English, it's pronounced "Paris" but everyone else pronounces it without the "s" sound, like the French do. But with Venezia, everyone pronouces it the English way: "Venice". Like The Merchant of Venice or Death in Venice. WHY, THOUGH!? WHY ISN'T THE TITLE DEATH IN VENEZIA!? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!? [TOMT][MOVIE][2010s] Looking for title of Italian mafia/organized crime movie

first off: it's not Goodfellas, Casino or any other American movie I am looking for.

I need help finding the title of a strange Italian movie

Several years ago I saw strange Italian movie on tv. I don't know if it was an actual theatrical release or a made for tv movie. I think it was made sometime in the early 2000's.

It was about a homeless woman who pursues a wealthy but emotionally damaged man. Both characters decided to go on a pilgrimage up a mountain to a Marian shrine, but I believe one of them dies. That's pretty much how I remember it. I understand the movie could be a little obscure, but if anyone knows the movie I'm talking about, and it's title, it would be appreciated.
