This is just a basic reality that a lot of people don't realize. Since 1989 the USA has been militarily attacking Iraq and attacking it with economic sanctions, murdering hundreds of thousands of people. Those who realize this fact are connected to reality, those that do not are ignorant of reality and/or liars or war profiteers or simple "my daddy was in the army" people.
Multiple reports have confirmed that Iran has fired ‘tens’ of missiles at US forces housed inside bases within Iraq. The White House is aware of the attack and has not yet formally responded. Iranian state TV says the attack is a retaliation after the country’s top commander Qasem Soleimani was killed in a drone strike in Baghdad. The events are still developing.

We endured multiple British invasions to enforce their control, atrocities by every regime from puppet Hashemi kings to Qassim to Nasserists to Baath to puppet Khomeinists, seemingly endless Barzani and Talabani clan insurgencies and terrorist attacks since Iraq was created, jihadists of every flavor and their onslaughts from ISIS to Badr to Moqtada to Al Qaeda, forceful takeover of territory by ISIS terrorists and peshmerga traitors just in the last decade, the most powerful and frightful jihad in history by Khomeini attempting to conquer us, multiple US wars with the goal of permanently devastating Iraq along with the first full embargo in human history to annihilate Iraq's people, and still Iraqis persist. No other nation in the world has such resilience.
Now that the government of Iraq seems to be Shi'ite dominated and close to Iran and now that there are so many Iraqi Shi'ite paramilitary groups like Kata'ib Hizbullah operating in Iraq, what is life like for the average Sunni Arab in Iraq?
Is there discrimination against Sunnis in Iraq?
Obviously no one actually knows the answer to the when question. I am a 29 year old American man who is in love with history of the ancient world. One place that has fascinated me since I was a kid is ancient Mesopotamia. As in, during the time of Gilgamesh and earlier, like 3000 BCE. I would love nothing more than to go to the ancient sites of Ur, Uruk, Nippur, etc. To be at the Euphrates or Tigris rivers, and just feel the Earth and the sun and connect spiritually to the past. Is this safely possible right now? What would happen to me if I attempted to fly to Basra airport? Would I be safe to travel to these sites or is there any legitimate tour groups that I could he a part of? If this is not possible now, do you think it will be in my life time? Have you personally visited the ancient sites of these cities? How did it make you feel?
marhaba my friends. this may be a better question for some of the assyrian/chaldean subreddits, but I thought you guys may have some information as well.
what is the state of christians in iraq? assyrian, chaldean, arab etc. I know that before the 2003 invasion they had enormous numbers compared to now, they had something similar to the number of christians in syria. but after the rise of daesh, the vast majority have left.
any idea on if any are returning to their ancient homeland, and at what numbers? I know iraq has countless problems today but I as an arab christian myself am concerned with the continuation of our communities in the region. salam and thanks for the replies in advance
Given the violent crackdowns on anti government protesters, frequent attacks from ISIS remnants and other Sunni militants, and the sporadic skirmishing between Iranian backed PMUs and the Americans, how likely is there going to be another full on Iraq war?
Im starting to understand real reason why Iraq is still failed state and why we have not achieved change for long time and why we are still struggling for change. The people that follow these parties are not just a random voters in street. Take example as Hakim and Sadr family. Their idiots sons only gained blind following because of their fathers. They where big Ayatollah in Iraq. Poorness, unemployment etc does not effect these cult follower at all. Thats why they always vote same party no matter how many innocent people they kill or how many money they steal. Education has only got worse when these bastard came in the power and its going to be getting worse each year. Each family also fight for power and they wants turn Iraq as Shia Islamic state for Imam.. Preparing for Imam mahdi. Its really hard to fight against these stupid ass people because they have big cult following, arms and huge amount of stolen wealth... I dont know what will happen in future. It is possible that Iraq t... keep reading on reddit ➡
Forgive me if I come off as trolling or taking the piss, but I'm genuinely interested what it's like to live in Iraq in this day and age.
I ask because I'm Sudanese but my ancestors migrated from Iraq about 150 years ago.
Is it really as bad as the media says it is or is it peaceful but with day to day problems? Cos one day I'd like to see the country for myself and where the ancestors came from
most americans want to get out of iraq most iraqis want americans to get out of iraq
so what's the damn hold up
First Saddam. Then ISIS. Then Trump/Iran. Now, we've got the Coronavirus in Iraq, with 5 cases confirmed. These people 'ran' away before quarantine, to not get quarantined so by now they have infected other people. Iraqi hospitals and personnel are in no capacity to handle any possible outbreak, and with the Iranian regime operating in Iraq it's sure that any future outbreak in Iran (where it's already super worse) will spillover to Iraq next to the already existing cases.
We need to understand that this is a big of a threat as the the above mentioned. This threat however is even more of a threat because right now we are our own biggest enemies. With Saddam, the Iraqi people were opposed to him. With ISIS, the same. With the Iranian-Trump conflict, we also didnt'want to be involved.
But with Corona, we do not have such an external enemy. The people who can infect us, are our families. Our brothers. Our fathers, mothers.
I pray that Iraq comes safe out of this. What can we do to mini... keep reading on reddit ➡
The guy is comparing Chicago to fucking Iraq. Big face palm.
Hi! I am considering driving through Iraq this summer. Entering from turkey. Is this feasible? What temperatures would I encounter in late July?
I am so confused about the chances of Iraq ever becoming developed and safe. On one side I am very optimistic and I feel like Iraq will be just as good as countries like Turkey where it is safe or like Europe or like it was in the '80s and '70s. But on the other side, I personally feel like the government is just going to stay just as corrupted and keep ruining the country further and further. I personally want the view of people that know more about Iraq then I do so I am asking you guys if anyone thinks Iraq will ever be safe and developed like it was in the '80s and '70s and if it is likely or not. Thank you so much for any responses.
This will prove that Iraqi is still not ready for real revolution. We will never get anything done until all people abandon these clerics and Fake Islamic parties. People blame Abdul mahdi for everything but they will rarely blame these parties that put them in power with their real names.. instead they call them just corrupt parties so they dont get bad rep?. If real revolution takes another 10-20 years I think it will be too late fix Iraq anymore. Imagine having Usa as main concern of country when these same parties has been destroyed our country for 17 years and still continuing and still have plenty of supporters. If only few people attended on Sadr rally.. It means we are winning and Sadr losing his power and influence... there is still hope.... but I hope this is case.

We know how much usa fked Iraq over, but it is no secret the khaleeji states have funded and facilitated terrorism in iraq, should they pay reparations to Iraq for the damage and destabilization they have caused?
This is not hyperbole.
We have two extremist fighting each other. Usa vs Pro Iranians. If Usa does not get what they want. They will sanctions us harshly. If Pro Iranians does not get what they want. They will declare war with Usa over violating sovereignty + militants... Then you have super extremist guys Like Hadi, Qaizali and Sadr that wants more than just getting the troops out. They want end everything with Usa + they want kill and humiliate them until they are satisfied.. WE ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOO FUCKED. Like so fucked. .. God help us...
The US killed the Iranian puppets and captured them. The US helped Iraq greatly right now. There celebrations happening right now. This is a great step towards a better future for Iraq ❤️🇮🇶🇮🇶🇮🇶❤️

Articles about Iranian missile attack on US:
They have designed this whole progress. This is basically Pro Iranians and Iran Wet dream. The Pro Iranians have biggest block in the government and Sadr is also willing to support outing the Usa force from Iraq. I can guarantee that Sadr was in this plan all a long. They have majority vote to oust Usa from Iraq. What this means? Our country will be isolated same way as North korea, Russia and Iran. It is possible that we will enjoy sanctions that will effect people daily life and economy...For example the waiver. We will lost coalition air force defense which is very vital weapon to destroy Isis militants. These thugs want cut diplomatic ties with Usa which will have very catastrophic result in Iraq. When we say no to meddling. We dont mean cutting diplomatic ties with Iran or Usa. Usa basically control the world economy. So its not wise thing to do.
