All the other actors on CSI Miami deserve props for both playing their role and managing to act like David Caruso/Horacio Cane was a normal human rather than a socially inept creep with an inner ear infection.

I kept watching the show just waiting for someone to address his head tilt, inappropriate responses, constant repeating for dramatic effect, and generally incomprehensible demeanor. I’ve been so confused that the writers continued to make him likable by his cast mates. I thought maybe Caruso was a nice guy so people were willing to make it work, but I just read that he was cursing and spitting at people on set. article about David Caruso

In Biology we learned about how the different sensory organs in the body require balances of different ions to function. For example, the inner ear has a membrane full of K+ rich fluid. Can we infer then that a lack of needed ions in the body then causes a decrease in senses?

So if you lack potassium, would your hearing be affected? Or does your body prioritize where it sends certain ions to capitalize on critical functions like the senses and base survival needs?

Rumbling, cracking inner ear, and being able to hear electricity on small appliances?

Since I've been a child I have had this unexplainable ability which brought me to this page when I saw a viral video of a Dr. talking about rumbling, pretty cool to find out so many people have this ability as well. The thing I am confused about is being able to hear what I can only explain as the electricity that pulses through outlet chargers, tv's and other small appliances. It's not the vibration of a coil on a light bulb or anything like that. I've been in a room with 10 other people and been the only one that's able to hear it and my friends think I'm either messing with them or lying. Has anyone else experienced this or know what it's called? I also crack my inner ear by moving my jaw to the opposite side a couple of times a week out of habit. Idk if that helps anyone narrow this down lol. Thanks

Inner ear pain that hurt like hell

30F - 125lbs- active lifestyle- Moderna vaccine

1st shot - little to no body reaction. The injection site was painful and it was hard to lift my arm. Went away after 2 days.

I just want to clarify that regardless of the strong symptoms I had I would still choose to get vaccinated.

2nd shot - strong body reaction 13 hours after injection. The injection site was painful and I couldn’t lift my arm after a few hours.

11 hours after injection I started to feel minor body aches and chills. 13 hours in was when it hit the worst. Very strong body aches, pains and chills. I did not take any over the counter medication at this point as I wanted to give my body some time to have a reaction. Could not sleep because of the body aches, pains, and chills. I was hot but also very cold. In the middle of the night I got a really strong pain in my left ear that was persistent. I don’t have ear problems and never experienced ear pain like this. I ended up taking one extra strength Tylenol to help with the pain. The Tylenol also helped with my body aches and chills a little bit but it mostly helped with the ear pain. The rest of the night I did not sleep at all. 24 hours after- I still don’t feel great but my body aches and pains have gotten so much better. I ended up taking one more extra strength Tylenol to help with some more of the symptoms. I spent the whole day in an out of naps because I didn’t sleep last night.

I would strongly recommend if you can takeoff work after you get the vaccine you really should in case you have a strong reaction.

Update: 24 hours after the symptoms started they went away completely. I feel back to my regular self. I only ended up taking 3 extra strength Tylenol during the entire time. I have a decent pain tolerance and was able to β€˜push through’.

Again, despite my strong reaction I still would choose to get the vaccine:)

Inner ear infection

On Sunday evening, my gerbil Zorro was completely fine - eating, drinking, running on his wheel. Around midnight I just checked on my gerbils again before I went to bed, and then all of a sudden Zorro was very lethargic, his eyes squinty, and walking in circles. I thought he had a stroke, because it happened all of a sudden.

Got him into the vet right away on Monday, and they said that he does have an inner ear infection and they checked his ears. I am giving him antibiotics twice a day. He hardly moves, but when I try to give him the medicine, he does fight back. I have given him some water through the syringe, should I try and blend up some sort of food too? He is not eating or drinking - just sleeping. Is that normal when they get an infection like this to just sleep all day and hardly move?

I hope he recovers in the next day or so. I know it takes a few days for the antibiotics to kick in. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Does anybodies allergies largely manifest themselves with severe itchiness of the inner ears and throat?

I’ve had allergies for decades now. I’ve tried every treatment under the sun and of course try to avoid irritants as much as possible. At this stage however I have accepted I am going to have some level of reaction ever day for thes rest of my life and there is not much more I can do about it.

My issue is that the way I deal with the severe itchiness I experience in my ears and throat is to try and β€˜scratch’ the itch. I am sensible enough to not insert anything into my actual ear canal but cannot avoid vigorously rubbing on my outer ear to β€˜scratch’ the itch. It’s deeply annoying but it works.

The problem is I do this so constantly and so vigorously that I believe I am now causing real damage to my ears. I have started experiencing tinnitus, balance problems and all sorts of strange sensations that I am convinced is caused by this constant rubbing.

It’s easy to say just stop but even a zen monk would find it nearly impossible from refraining from scratching an infuriating itch. To just say stop doing it is like ticking somebody and telling them just not to react.

Can anybody relate to this? Do you have any suggestions on how to β€˜scratch this itch’ in a β€˜safer’ less self destructive way?

Inner ear pain with Arctis pro wireless

Hello, wondering if anyone has experienced similar issues to me. I really like the Arctis Pro Wireless headphones, I find them really comfortable and practical.

I've see many people experience some issues with the fit, mentioning outer ear pain and such. I don't have that issue, I've bought some replacement pads and the headphones are comfortable throughout.

My issue is different, after a couple of hours I start to experience some pain inside my ear, like ear drum pain?? The pain seems to persist throughout the day and I have no idea what could be causing it. Seems to happen with both the wireless and Bluetooth connection. I've never had this issue with other headphones.

I keep the volume pretty high because I find the max volume on these headphones pretty low, I really don't think it's unreasonably high, but I am getting worried that I might be damaging my ears and am considering looking for a different set.

Intense inner ear itching - healing or worsening?!

Lately I’ve been getting an intense deep inner ear itch that burns and radiates out to my cheeks and even into my teeth. The sensation reminds me of a really painful bug bite that drives you crazy. Or if you’ve had braces, that weird itching you get in your teeth after an adjustment and your teeth are moving.

I’m homebound with severe H, so these symptoms aren’t a result of noise exposure, and it’s not an ear infection. Trigger point therapy and massage help a bit, but it gets pretty unbearable. My T and sound sensitivity will also go up when this is flaring.

From what I’ve read, itching can be part of neuropathy and it can also be a sign of healing nerves. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If so, was it a good sign or bad?!!
