>Coconut has a reputation as exotic and healthy, but for poor regions in the Philippines, Indonesia and India, where pickers are often paid less than a dollar a day, the palm groves are no paradise.
>Because coconut trees only grow in tropical climates, the pressure to meet global demand is causing exploitation of workers and destruction of rainforests. “Coconut is an absolute tragedy and it makes me really sad,” Isaac Emery, a food sustainability consultant. “I love cooking with coconut milk but I don’t feel good about buying coconut products. Farmers in Indonesia should be growing food to feed their families instead of meeting international demands.”
>To avoid supporting unsustainable practices, choose coconut products that are certified Fair Trad

Indomie is alright. Can't go more than twice a week. I'd rather go to a proper warung.
With how the police are in the US right now, I was wondering how are the police in Indonesia compared to the US.
Hey historians of reddit! Please note that I do not intent to offense anyone by asking this question. Context: I think Inlander or Pribumi is probably the closest word that's historically true but it does not seem as offensive. Anyone knows what holds true for both of them?
I'm gonna start with the permanently-closed Mother's Cook at Citos in Jakarta. I started going there when it first opened in 2004 and the last time was in 2017 iirc. My fave part was the relish they added which I haven't seen elsewhere and was soo gooooood! Maybe it was the nostalgia as well but for me, it remained to be the best burger for a really long time. What's yours?
Edit: also wanna add Burger Blenger during its early days back in the early 00s (cabang deket lapangan tennis lupa namanya)!
As bizarre as it is, I was reading about the process / things you need to do for a burial. But I can’t seem to find a reliable source online and I don’t want to alert my parents about this. I just kinda want to start saving up for a spot in a cemetery.
So my questions are:
Yang paling parah customer service siapa ya? Rasanya sih Lazada...
Okay, so apparently a lot of members here studied abroad and picked up their English from there, Me myself is still learning to perfect my English (it's still far from it I admit). I started learning English at school but I wasn't very good at it, I hated the teacher and I hated how the language sound. So, You can guess my English score was pretty bad.
Then I started to like Hollywood movies on 2008 and many of the old movies doesn't have Indonesian subtitle, I just watched it anyway. I was pausing a lot to search for words that I didn't understand on Google translate. Didn't take long for me to "master" most of the vocabs (about a year). From 2009 until now, I never watch movie with Indonesian sub anymore and even now I can watch most of the English language movies without any subtitle (walaupun kadang susah karena pengaruh aksen, intonasi, kecepatan ngomong, sound quality, dll).
What about you guys? How did you learn your English? Gw liat disini banyak yang Inggrisnya perfect dan... keep reading on reddit ➡

With the COVID-19 revealing that the government can't handle this crisis AND the people love fighting the government, do you think Indonesia still has a future ahead of it, or has it devolved into mob rule?
(I'm expecting downvotes.)
I made a post a few days ago about how I am planning a trip from Dublin, Ireland - Jakarta, Indonesia by myself without flying. I received several comments on how I should extend my trip from 3 months to 5-6 months at the least. I think that was actually some really good advice since I forget from time to time that hitting place to place isn't really traveling.
This isn't for a few more years but my idea for time in each country (several I have already visited) would probably be:
Ada nggak komodos disini yang gandrungin olahraga baseball? ikut komunitas/tim/club atau malah jadi pemain baseball timnas? sekedar pengen tau aja sih
gw pengen banget rasanya main baseball tapi karena itungannya olahraga mahal, perlu banyak orang dan ngga ada infrastruktur (kota kecil gan), jadi ya gw sekedar latihan swing dan pitch doang sendirian
As-salamu alaykum and Eid Mubarak
This Ramadan was the most special to me, as I met who I feel is my fiancee and soulmate destined by Allah SWT.
And indeed, with sadness and tragedy being common in the current climate (UK being one of the worst for COVID 19), I am reminded daily of what matters the most in life Alhamdullilah.
Firstly, I am open minded and empathetic. Currently I am loving my studies of Indonesia and it's culture, people and I wish to learn more.
Either on comment or via PM, any general advice would be appreciated.
I love this woman. And I want to do things 100% Islamically with her. And that's the magic and blessing, it is all sincere and genuine, and is not fake, and not superficial. It's like a "fantasy" romance from an anime; all innocent and pure.
My question is; what are your tips for ensuring I am paying careful attention to social norms etc in Indonesia? Since I'm still learning about it, I really really do not want to accidently say or do something to u... keep reading on reddit ➡
