If youβre planing a trip to Kyoto for mid-to-late November to early December be sure to visit some of the autumn leaves illuminations at some of the temples and shrines. Not only are they gorgeous lit up at night but itβs also a great way to see even more sites in your time there. Typically, most temples and shrines close at about 5:00 PM but if you go to ones with night illuminations you can visit them up til 8:00 or 9:00 pm depending on the location. We visited a number of night illuminations during our week long trip to Kyoto during the first week of December 2020. We are currently based in Japan, tourist entry is still not yet permitted, but I hope this trip report is helpful for future planning or others who are also currently based in Japan.
We found most illuminations through this article but others we just saw on posters posted around the city. Exact dates vary each year, so try going to the main temple website in Japanese and then use Google Chrome to translate to see if they have any upcoming special night events. Then, you usually will find upcoming special events like illuminations on their homepage. Sharing Kyoto also has a good article on autumn illuminations in Kyoto.
A. Kiyomizudera Autumn Illumination. In 2020 this was held from 18 to 30 November.
B. A short walk away from Kiyomizudera was the nighttime illumination at Kodaiji. You could also get a joint admission for Kodaiji + Entokuin but we only went to Kodaiji. The reflection of the illuminated trees, sound/light show in the garden, and illuminated bamboo forest here were all gorgeous. We spent a lot of time here and it was our favorite autumn illumination visit by far. In 2020 the illumination at Kodaiji was held from 23 Nov to 13 Dec.
Also, this may be a controversial opinion, but we thought the bamboo grove at Kodaiji was much nicer than the more famous bamboo forest in Arashiyama. We loved wandering throu

Hello low strings of RSO! This is a post regarding the project Illuminations Reflections Of Earth! The deadline recently passed on April 5th, but is still left with a very sparse Viola, Cello, and Bass section! This is a challenging piece with funky time signatures, but if you up for taking a stab at it, I would really appreciate it! Currently, the string section is sitting at: 7 Violin 1, 7 Violin 2, 4 Violas, 2 Cellos, and 1 Bass. If you are a Violist, Cellist, or ESPECIALLY Bassist, I highly encourage taking a look at Illuminations! I won't be planning the release date officially until April 20th, so If you want to take a stab at it, shoot for that as the deadline! Also note, if you still want to submit late for this, I will take ANY instrument still, as the more the better!

Issue is probably familiar to a lot of you that have done the HK parts hunt.
I'm trying to get the schematics on the Theoretika, but I can't get past the security room because it is pitch dark in there and the illumination droid is bugged out. I've tried everything I can find on the net to fix it. I spent over a half hour trying every combination of relogging and resetting the instance I could think of. I tried using my lighsaber and every light generating effect I have as a light source. No luck, none of them generate enough light to see. And that's with bloom full on on my graphics settings.
I ultimately spent two hours groping around in the dark, following Dulphy's guide to the letter, trying to brute force my way through it. Found the console in the security room, clicked on it four times to ensure that the fuse activated, then went over to the opposite corner to find the fuse. No luck at all. And I know I'm in the right corner, because I managed to get to the corner once before the lights went out, and I found the graphic that represents the fuse.
At this point, I've resigned myself to the fact that I, personally, am never going to complete this quest unless I somehow get the droid working. But that puts me in a catch-22.
Which brings me to my ultimate question: has anyone out there managed to fix that droid without some combo of relogging and/or resetting? If so, what did you do?
Or, am I just doomed to never complete the HK quest?
Update: Finally managed to finish mission. Turns out, contents of the room were optional, so I skipped them. Thanks, all!
I've watched pretty much most of their movies, and while I don't find them to be masterpieces I don't think of them as absolute train wrecks that many, many people claim them to be. In fact, the reviews/rants about Illumination's movies are far more cringe worthy than ANY of the movies that they criticize. This isn't to say that criticism is bad, of course it isn't. But it genuinely seems like these reviewers and anyone who proclaims their hate for the company are exaggerating their dislike heavily while also being completely serious about it.
At the end of the day, we like what we like and don't like what we don't like, and I don't really care what someone's opinion on these movies are. But could we please actually talk about them normally and not like they broke into your house and wrecked up the place before stealing your dog? Generally speaking, if you criticize in order to entertain an audience (which I suspect is what the majority of people who do talk about these movies are doing) rather than to actually attempt to show a product's strengths alongside where it can improve. You should not be taken very seriously as a critic because it seems very obvious you just wanna riff on something for easy views.
What im thinkin of here is a polyagonal shape you could draw, either on the drawing tools or wall tab, where within the interior confines of that shape you can choose a different global illumination setting than that of the rest of the scene. This is the idea I came up with to solve the persistant problem of having maps with both an indoor and outdoor section while still needing the indoor to be lit.
So, you can have the outside areas of a scene be lit by the scenes global illumination, and then designate spaces to have a different darkness/light level, or even just straight up turn the illumination off.
