Many of my friends have been going on virtual first dates recently, usually very confident people, found that dating via a screen it's sometimes more difficult to bring up interesting topics to chat about.
I made an online game a year ago that's a mixture of Never Have I Ever and Cards Against Humanity. It's just a passionate project, and it's intended to be played with groups of people. I had a virtual date recently and thought I would adapt the rules and just use the cards as prompts, so we could get to know each other a bit better. It was really good fun and we ended up talking for almost 5 hours!
I mentioned this to my friends, and a few weeks gone past, it's now a go-to on a first date for some of them. A few have even turned it into a drinking game, where the worst / funniest answer drinks!
Would love to share it, but I'm aware that there's no self-promotion on this sub-reddit, so I just wanted to share my experience.
Has anyone else come up with fun icebreakers / games to play during virtual dates?

Hi, so I've been a fan of the NBA very recently about Last year mid way through the playoffs. My favourite team is Dallas and my favourite player is Luka Doncic, I would like to have some talks with some of you who read my post about some basketball related stuff. My Chat and PM's are open if you're willing to talk to a relatively new fan of the NBA
I am going to be facilitating an anxiety focus group next week and I was wondering if anyone has any good zoom icebreakers?
Thanks
I absolutely detest the "mandatory fun" activities that are scheduled in workplaces, often by horrible "social committees" whose universal motto seems to be, "We plan activities to make you hate work even more!" These activities feel childish and ridiculous to me, and so I get anxious about them. What do you do when these activities come up at work?
So against all odds I have managed to land an on-campus interview for an assistant professor job in history at a SLAC. Part of the interview process is the teaching demo where they want me to take over one session of their freshman history class. There will be approximately 20 students. They all but commanded me to lecture, so that's what I'm planning on doing. I have 45 usable minutes to lecture, run a Q&A, and try to build some rapport with the students. The lecture and Q&A I believe I can handle, it's building rapport with students that I'm worried about. I'm looking for suggestions on icebreaker activities that can be done in five minutes or less that will help the students warm up to me and the lecture and increase student engagement. How would you all handle this?
What is your dream vacation? Where would you go? How would you travel(or would you travel at all)? How long would you stay? What would you do with your days?
I have used multiple icebreaker things to create a sense of community. One of my favorites is the βdifferent and the sameβ icebreaker. I have also asked students to share a photo and explain it as a way of introducing themselves without being forced to share their personal photo or talk about anything theyβre not comfortable with. But, Iβm trying to also find other strategies, preferably ones that promote inclusivity.
Edited to provide context: I understand people hate icebreakers thinking theyβre a waste of time. Iβm in public health. Creating a sense of community is key to all the work that we do. Icebreakers in our field help people be aware of the various experiences and identities that exist in the community that canβt be learned by just discussing theoretical frameworks and concepts.
