How do I increase my upload-download speed in BiglyBT i2p only mode?
I am downloading a certain popular monster movie & I do have a lot of seeders & leechers but speed is very low (80-200 kBps) I have 500mbps connection
Is there anyway I could increase the speed?
Share, discuss & debate knowledge, experiences about torrenting over I2P network. Anonymous torrenting has been increasing in popularity due to censorship across the world.
I2P network = https://geti2p.net/en/
Anonymously torrent over I2P = https://geti2p.net/en/docs/applications/bittorrent
Torrent clients that support I2P network =
Free open source BiglyBT - https://www.biglybt.com/
Free & private - Vuze - http://www.vuze.com/
Inbuilt torrent client of I2P network - I2snark
I2P was needing this, so here it is.
Invidious is an opensource front-end for YouTube ( https://github.com/iv-org/invidious ). Here is just some of the nifty features:
Copylefted libre software (AGPLv3+ licensed)
Lightweight (the homepage is ~4 KB compressed)
Tools for managing subscriptions:
Audio-only mode (and no need to keep window open on mobile)
Set default player options (speed, quality, autoplay, loop)
Support for Reddit comments in place of YouTube comments
Import/Export subscriptions, watch history, preferences
Does not use any of the official YouTube APIs
No need to create a Google account to save subscriptions
No Code of Conduct
No Contributor license Agreement
Available in many languages, thanks to Weblate
Performance over I2P is surprisingly good. Streaming is still so-so but if you pause and let it buffer, play in lower quality modes than you would the clearnet, etc you shouldn't have any issues with streaming. If it's too bothersome waiting, you can use the Tor service: http://tuberyps2pn6dor6h47brof3w2asmauahhk4ei42krugybzzzo55klad.onion which seems to stream a tad faster.
Since I've get my hands on BiglyBT I've used it almost daily. I usually upload on it via I2P network. Anyone here does that too?
Do I need to upload my .torrent files from TPB to postman or just enable "I2P network" for all my torrents in BiglyBT (if I want to seed via I2P)
Let us tackle the issue.
Speed, Anonymity & paid VPN vs I2P debate.
(Paid) VPN :-
Speed depends on the number of servers as well as the encryption method used by the company.
Does keep logs required for functioning of the company & is bound by the law of the land wherever situated.
No-logs policy does not mean logs are not maintained or kept or generated. The company gives assurance that whatever logs are generated will not be kept & deleted. We all know how that turns out.
(Free) I2P Network :-
It is Free-to-use & open source. Thereby, the structural capital required is not as ever present as some capital rich company. Almost, all of the structure & capital intensive system requirement is handled by volunteers. However, recent user-base spurt has been huge and is ever increasing in size.
I2P Network was based on wholehearted focus on anonymity. The design is such that it supports the anonymous delivery of your data rather than speedy delivery of your data. Garlic routing as well as the additional support of network mixing creates a secure passage for your data & make it censor resistant as much as possible.
Everything that is generated inside an I2P network routes through all the nodes thus providing anonymity as well as plausible deniability. Secondly, I2P network cannot be accessed by clear-net neither I2P users can access clear-net without going out of the network.
more points will be added as this discussion/debate will be never-ending.
I have added i2p.exe and i2psvc.exe to "Bypass VPN", but it's still detecting the VPN IP - anyone else using PIA and I2P?
I want to be able to use BiglyBT via VPN + I2P at the same time and I guess it should be possible with a split tunnel.
Monero disguises the IP address of the wallet. So does Exodus implement the feature of Monero that hides the IP address through Kovri (Tor/I2P)?
Hi. How are you doing? This is a two-part post. My first question is in relation to I2P proxy/server in the browser. Right now, I'm loading up two browsers, one for the regular internet, and the other for starting up I2P server. Is there a way to use one browser for both the regular internet and also running i2p server?
My second question is in relation to torrents. I have a torrent I want to download. I added some i2p trackers to it and put it in my i2psnark folder. Do I need to have the whole torrent downloaded in order to upload it to postman or will I be able to add the torrent without downloading the whole file and download it from postman once it's uploaded?
This may sound stupid but I wanted to know if there are some specific torrent trackers for BiglyBT to use it's i2p functionality.
Can't I just add torrent tracker that would help in seeding more efficiently over i2p in BiglyBT, just like addition of public trackers does with any other torrent client.
and yea ofcourse it depends on peers who should be present to download. I just wanted a list that I can just copy paste in my torrent like we normally do in other clients
Announcing the latest release of I2P+ (0.9.49+), a soft-fork of the Java I2P software with an emphasis on presentation, performance, and usability.
Now available for download as an update or a full installer for Windows and Linux (Java 1.8 or later supported):
Some of the recent changes include:
The full installers now implement https:// access to the console by default; you will need to allow the (self-signed) certificate when prompted in your web browser to access the console. To disable automatic redirection, add the following to your router.config file in ~/.i2p/ -> routerconsole.redirectToHTTPS=false
The Windows installer will install I2P+ as a Windows system service and configure to automatically start at system boot (requires administrator privileges). Control of the service can be managed via http://127.0.0.1:7657/configservice or via the normal Windows methods e.g. services.msc or the task manager services tab.
Here, is the list of trackers I could find to add to your torrents to better seed with I2P network. Please point out any mistakes or addition if you know.
Why is I2P plugin not provided in qBittorrent but is provided in other clients such as BiglyBT or Vuze?
If there is something about the mechanics or functionality or other things that I do not know about, please elucidate so that I can learn & understand
Fast Epic EU Team will be integrate epic-wallet (MW anonymous cryptocurrency ) with i2p network.
Tribler is much simpler and less complicated.
Searching is a lot easier.
Share through Tribler and/or non-Tribler.
I have much better luck finding torrents on Tribler than I2P.
A lot more complicated than Tribler.
I like that it has mixed mode so torrents can be shared via I2P and clearnet. So someone with safe clearnet can get the torrent, and then share to I2P. Or the initial seeder can share to both I2P and clearnet.
However, if your torrent is not on I2P and you don't want clearnet, then you have zero options with BiglyBT.
THANK YOU for sharing safely !
Hi. I'm curious if there's a way I could make two profiles in the same browser. One being for i2p, to access their network, and the second to access the regular web at the same time I'm on i2p? I currently have it set up so internet explorer runs i2p and Librewolf doesn't use a proxy, so I'm able to be on i2p while Librewolf is used for youtube and shit. I want to be able to use Librewolf for both i2p and youtube, though.
Im downloading from here https://geti2p.net/en/download I get the file i2pinstall_0.9.49_windows.exe 21,929 KB I double click says "file is corupt" tried several times, Ive update my java - googled...not too much info
What can I do?
Hello, I just wondered if you can get in trouble for running an i2p router. What happens for example, if police raids the house of someone that illegally shares files and they happen to see on this guys i2p router console, that at the moment he is routing his content through you. I believe that in the console you can exactly see the IP addresses of the routers you route content to. Anyways, if they write down your IP or take a screenshot before the router chooses a new pathway, can they charge you for something (in Europe or US)?
It's safe to open files from i2p or other anonymous network on connected PC? I know about pdf's is danger, but what with movies or images?
I hope that it's okay that I post this here.
So, I wanted a reddit-like site that was:
This website is accessible as a service on each of the individual large anonymity networks allowing users of those networks to not leave their network of choice. Whereas normally, members on a Tor Onion Service web forum would only be able to communicate with other members using that same Tor Onion Service (with some exceptions), on here, they can interact with members using the website via the I2P eepsite service, or the regular internet, even. It's a unique idea and I'm excited to see how it plays out.
Originally I wasn't going to have a clearnet version, but decided that bridging everyone into one place may serve valuable in getting regular, every day people more interested in online privacy and supporters of these various alternative networks.
Anyway, it has just literally launched. I've just finished populating some default content on some 'featured forums' (defaults) but it's now open and anyone can register, sign up, and create their own content or forum for their liking.
You can access the website via the following networks / urls:
There is also a TOR community on [RAMBLE] here: https://ramble.pw/f/tor and I encourage the mods from /r/tor to join there and I'll grant you mod access to that forum as well since you do a great job here.
I'm working on a wiki with more details here: https://ramble.pw/wiki (or http://rambleeeqrhty6s5jgefdfdtc6tfgg4jj6svr4jpgk4wjtg3qshwbaad.onion/wiki ) and have a welcome post made in the [RAMBLE] meta forum here: https://ramble.pw/f/ramble/3/welcome-to-ramble (or http://rambleeeqrhty6s5jgefdfdtc6tfgg4jj6svr4jpgk4wjtg3qshwbaad.onion/f/ramble/3/welcome-to-ramble )
I hope that you like it.
AFAIK, since I2Pd v2.36 (see https://github.com/PurpleI2P/i2pd/blob/openssl/ChangeLog) Yggdrasil gets supported (Yggdrasil, see https://yggdrasil-network.github.io/).
Anyone in the mood to give some more information about these development efforts? I am interested in the "motivation" and the "benefits for I2P".
Does anyone have any experience with Solidity? Looking to create a team for I2P and could use a dev. Or would just love to pick your brain if you have experience with creating contracts
u/alreadyburnt and I have been working on bundling I2P as a Mac .dmg application that you can just drag-and-drop to install or uninstall. No Java required.
If you want to help us test it and iron out bugs, you can download it from https://muwire.com/downloads/I2P-0.9.49-6.dmg
This is very early alpha. It may end up being the default installation option in the future, or it may get cancelled. Please test it and try to break it in any way you can, your feedback is welcome!
Edit: signed and notarized :) Enjoy!
Hello everyone! I’m a CS senior looking to join an I2P team for the fall of 2021. I have a background in web dev, android dev and just run of the mill coding experience. If anyone has a spot in their team, shoot me a dm. I’d love to join!
http://tracker2.postman.i2p works, but others are unreachable or permanently down (?) - using this list https://www.reddit.com/r/i2p/comments/dtu0t7/i2p_torrent_sites/
I installed the I2P application using Aurora Store, the application connects to the I2P network without any problems, but the browsers can't access any websites, I used Iceraven (using I2P proxy add-on), Mozilla Firefox (using Foxy-proxy), Midori, Lightning, and none of them could access any websites, has anyone else had or is having this kind of problem?
Android Version: 8.1.0
It would be better for general population if this feature is added. I mean it is more important than useless darkmode or similar kind of features. But no one is talking about it, let alone inclined to make it a reality. I know that it may be incredibly hard to do so & I will definitely tip my hat to all the developers giving their important time & resources to make it a reality [thank you to developers anyway for giving a great product].
So, it would be nice if anyone can elucidate me on why/how it has not happened or if it will ever happen in future?
curious if is there any issues having i2p exit via vpn?
i have i2p running and when it passes my firewall it goes through one of the vpn tunnels setup on the firewall. or is it better not to do that?
