I'm a 32yo engineer originally from Ireland, I've recently gotten a job offer for a position in Huntsville. I've lived in the UK, Germany, Switzerland as well as Canada and 6mo in California so I'm used to settling into new places. As soon as I told my partner where the job was he baulked at the idea and honestly it has me on the fence. My main worry is that there would be too much of a culture clash for us to ever really enjoy living there in which case the job just wouldn't be worth it for me.
So, some of you may remember me as "that fiber internet dude" from many years ago. I started a petition way back in 2014 to bring fiber internet, of any kind (but hopefully municipally owned) to Huntsville. It was fairly popular, enough so that it got the attention of local government, blah blah yadda yadda, and boom we're still rolling out fiber to folks but lots of people do have fiber internet by a number of providers.
Well, guess I'm back in the petition game, but this time for a bigger (in my opinion) prize: Tesla's Cybertruck & Model Y GigaFactory.
Yep. Elon's looking for somewhere to settle down his newest GigaFactory, and I want that place to be here in Huntsville, Alabama. I happen to think it's a perfect fit. I won't go into all the reasons why I think so here, because I already did that over at my petition:

If you are like me, and think this would be a good idea, I'd greatly appreciate you taking time out to sign the petition and forward it on to your friends, family, and coworkers. If you have feedback on things to add, say, or do, please let me know! I'm not trying to lay all the groundwork out, but I AM trying to start the conversation. Is Huntsville right for this? I think so, for now. But there may be some underlying information I just don't have that makes it not viable. Who knows?
Anyway, this petition kicks off information to local government and to Tesla as we reach milestones, so I'd love to get hundreds, thousands, or tens of thousands of eyes on it and get that ball rolling. The worst we can do is spend a little time researching and finding out if this is viable. The best we can do? GigaFactory!

Reward available. My 14 year old cat is missing. We think she's in the area near Hundley Drive in Huntsville. She's a light brown/grey/cream color and somewhat skittish with big eyes and a missing patch of fur on her shoulder blades. She's wearing a collar with my phone number on it and is micro chipped. Utterly beside myself with worry.
