As some of you know, I've been creating a Golden Sun engine based on GSTLA. Online demo here (use a chrome based browser) and source code here. Here are some great updates from the last months with the help I'm receiving (see contributors):
init of history/game events system
particles system on battles and be able to mirror an ability
And much other stuff!
WE NEED HELP. As you may know, it's a lot of work, I need more people helping me π (if possible).
Check here what I need help with. Details about the project here.
Feel free to ask me anything!
Hey, guys
I was wondering what software to use for dynamic remarketing creatives except GWD. I've been working with GWD for 1,5 year and I'm so frustrated with its UI I can't handle it anymore. Does anyone use Adobe XD for these goals? Or maybe you know other solutions to create dynamic HTML5 banners? I'm not a UX designer so I don't want to go into CSS deeply.
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!
I had been using Phonegap Build, which was free and super easy (I uploaded my html+js, and it spit out the apk), but they shut down... I'm not tech savvy at all, so I want to avoid trying to build the apk locally myself. What is the best closest (free) Phonegap alternative?
I was checking out Flutter, but from what I understood it's a development platform.. I already have my game. I just want to build it as an apk to publish to PlayStore.
PS: I understand I need to pay a one-time fee to publish to the PlayStore.
Hello all,
I'm trying to determine what the max connections for HTML5 client are. I read through the VMware Config max guide and it said the following:
vSphere Web Client User Interface
Concurrent vSphere Web Clients (Flex) connections to vCenter Server (Limit is applicable for both linked mode and per VC)
180
vSphere Web Client User Interface
Maximum mixed vSphere Client (HTML5) + vSphere Web Client simultaneous connections per VC
180 (80 Flex 100 maximum HTML5)
However it does not specifically state what the HTML5 limit is. It only states that Flex has a limit of 180.
Does anyone know the connection limit of the HTML5 client?
I created a game that accepts both touch controls as keyboard input. When testing HTML5 the controls work fine, however when the HTML5 is embedded in the webpage the keyboard controls don't work (touch controls do work). Keys 'up' and 'down' just scroll the browser screen up and down.
It does work in an earlier version of the game. You could click with your mouse on the htlm5 game screen and then it would accept keyboard input for as long as you played. Somehow during updates the functionality was lost. Anyone know what settings or code might cause this behaviour?
Hi! A bit ago, we posted a link to a new pocket-pc dedicated subreddit in case the Windows folks would be interested in a hidden side to Microsoft, the Pocket PC Operating System. Well, we wanted to make the worldβs first HTML5 browser for Pocket PC, and the website is here! We will add some pictures, some progress, and everything in between! Please check us out at http://ppcmasterrace.rf.gd there is also other PPC related content there as well!
HTML5/Javascript looks like a great platform for games. Of course an HTML5 game could run on the web, making it immediately cross platform, but it could also easily be packaged into a desktop game with nwjs and the popular Greenworks Steam framework. Even Nintendo has an HTML5 devkit.
I'm wondering how mobile holds up, however. Cordova seems to be the answer here, but is it good? Does it feel native and offer all the relevant features for simple mobile games? Are there any caveats that would be useful to know?
Any help appreciated!
I can't even play Happy Wheels anymore since Flash died. Now all i get is a powerpoint presentation when i try to load it (around 5-10 fps)
Hoping this gets fixed very soon, i really need to scratch that itch..
Hi all, a few years ago I published an HTML5 course on Udemy that went on to get a decent student body and good reviews (4.5 stars and over 20,000 students). I'm working on making my content more accessible before adding new material. As part of this effort, I converted the course videos into a YouTube playlist you can below:

Hope it helps those who are starting out or as reference material.
Hi!
I'm trying to export my game to HTML, but I get this error when I try to open it: "failed loading .pck"
When I export to something like Windows .exe, though, or run the game in engine, it works fine.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

EDIT: It seems like the game actually works when I run it through a local:8000 server using python or uploaded to Itch.io (after renaming to index.html), and not some web browser like Chrome or Firefox, though it does take some time to load. Is this normal? It seems like people usually have problems with .wasm, not pck., unlike my error.
Google DCM HTML5 Validator will be deprecated without a replacement March '21..
Our studio relies on this to make sure creatives will not be rejected when uploaded to DCM. Anyone know of any alternatives? Thanks!
EDIT: Nevermind! deprecation postponed, thanks to anyone who raised concerns..

CanIUse states that 97.37% of all users support WebGL. Pretty much all major browsers support it. However I also read about blacklists (https://www.khronos.org/webgl/wiki/BlacklistsAndWhitelists)
While reading that, I find it hard to understand how it goes in practice. E.g. do many companies or individuals still use older software or hardware (browsers, OS, graphics cards, etc.) that does not support WebGL? Do the CanIUse tests also include the blacklists?
And in the case WebGL is not supported, is HTML5 Canvas supported more often? Or is the support around the same? The percentage for support of HTML5 Canvas is slightly higher on CanIUse, but what are your experiences with it? Does it ever cause problems?
The goal is to find a standalone library for producing cool 2D animations of text and images on HTML5 canvas, not unlike PowerPoint animations or jQuery effects (https://api.jquery.com/category/effects/).
There are many CSS libraries for animating DOM elements via CSS, but no standalone ones tailored for canvas images and text.
Ideally, the animation library won't bind us to a particular canvas framework.

Hi guys.
I've got interested in web development, decided to give it a shot. After browsing Youtube tutorials, decided that its better to buy some courses. I found a lot of platform which gives lessons. Maybe some of you guys bought any of the courses and succesfully learned it? Or Youtube will do just fine? Share your thoughts.
Thank you.
Hi. New to coding and am finding cheat sheets super helpful! Are there any sites that provide HTML5 templates?
Has there been any sort of progress made on some kind of a solution to keep videos from automatically playing ? I responded to a similar topic in the actual vivialdi forums, but at least to me that topic/subject has really became stagnant, I guess the developers have their sites set on more important matters.
The only options I see are host CD device, datastore ISO, or Content Library ISO.
Is there any way to keep a HTML5 exported Godot game running in the background when focus is lost?
It seems by default everything stops and continues once focus is regained, but for my specific case I'd like the game to keep playing even if it doesn't have focus.
I tried to search the docs and settings but had no luck so far.
Hey everyone,
I've put a lot of time and effort into some games that I'd like to eventually release on Steam so that I could use the steam api and have people keep the game permanently in their Steam game libraries, instead of just some URL that they have to remember or bookmark. Also I'd just like to get practice releasing a game on the steam platform, integrating the steam api and such.
My game depends heavily upon refreshing a dynamically rendered html canvas element 60 times per second or more, and this is really the only thing I am worried about. Are canvas Elements optimized in Electron as well as they are in Chrome and Firefox?
With that in mind, I'd like to use ElectronJS (or another tool like it) to port my games from web to Steam/desktop environments. Does anyone know if this is a good way to go about it?
I know plenty of reputable programs that run on Electron such as VSCode, Slack, and Discord, however I do not know of any games that run on Electron. Is there a reason that there are no games that use Electron? Or am I just ignorant and there actually are a bunch?
