AITA for leaving the hospital after my wife gave birth to go home and shower and take a nap?
She was induced and in labor for over 24 hours. Not all of it was active labor, and I probably could have gone home and slept and showered at some point, but she didn't want me to leave in case something happened.
A few hours after she had our baby and they both were okay and not in danger, I told her I was going home to shower and nap and would be back sometime later in the day. She didn't want me to leave, but I needed to sleep and I couldn't do that in the hospital. I also needed a shower because I was starting to smell ripe due to the stress sweat. I also wanted to get a decent meal.
I left anyway and took a long nap after I got home. That plus the time it took to eat and shower ended up taking around 6 hours.
She still seems bothered by what I did, but I am a person like anyone else with physical limitations. I don't know how that makes me an asshole.

AITA for refusing to breastfeed my baby after we leave the hospital, solely for my own comfort and convenience?
I spent my whole life feeling like the worlds biggest fuckup. From day 1, EVERYTHING always seemed so much easier for everyone else. At 30, I found out that it WAS, since I have ADHD. The diagnosis and medication completely changed my life. The self-loathing I’d had since before I can remember started to fall away as I was able to work and interact with people easily, my crippling anxiety about being ‘the girl who can’t do anything right’ disappeared, I was able to go to grad school and build my career into something I love instead of just tolerate.
And that’s when I met my husband. He’s an amazing man and incredibly good to me, but like a lot of people, he’s an ADHD skeptic, particularly when it comes to medication. We’re 6 months pregnant (yay!), which obviously meant going off my meds cold turkey the day I found out. And I’m fucking drowning. Off the meds, my life has fallen apart. My work productivity has PLUMMETED. My boss knows the whole story and is amazing about it, but just

A man went to the hospital to visit his mother-in-law, who was in serious condition. On the way back the wife, very worried, asks: "So, honey? How's my mom doing?"
He replies: "She looks great! She is in good health! She will still live for many years! Next week she will be released from the hospital and will come and live with us, forever!"
"Wow that's amazing!" - says the wife - "But this is very strange, dear... yesterday she seemed to be on her deathbed, the doctors said she should have a few days to live!"
"Well, I don't know how she was yesterday" - he replied - "But today when I arrived at the hospital, the doctor told me that we should prepare for the worst"
Sigh...No hospital would post a sign like this.

AITA for walking out of the hospital after hearing my wife’s diagnosis?
I (33) get a call from the ER on Friday saying that my wife (32) drove herself there because of searing pelvic pain.
I’m on a business trip until Saturday but I drive back in time to be there Saturday morning before she woke up.
A while after she wakes up, the doctor comes in. My wife says to stay with her so I say ok. He takes a deep breath and said that from the transvaginal ultrasound and CT scan results, she has ovarian cancer.
My wife starts sobbing but at first I stay still because I don’t even know what to make of it.
My wife asks what that means for her and he says that she’ll likely at least need a full hysterectomy, and they’d have to remove the Fallopian tubes as well as the ovaries.
That news jolted me from my chair. Because the doctor was effectively telling me that she wouldn’t be able to have kids after this, and after years of work, I thought we’d finally have a family.
I’m overwhelmed with emotions of anger, not just anger at the disease, but pent up anger fo

AITA for refusing to let my sister use the baby clothes sets that our great grandma made to bring her baby home from the hospital?
My (25f) great grandma was an amazing seamstress, but I was unfortunately the last great grandchild she saw born before she passed away. My sister (21f) was born after she passed.
When my mum was pregnant with me, she made these sets of baby clothes, blankets and shoes. My mother brought me home wearing those clothes and wrapped in that blanket. When my sister was born, she did the same thing.
When we were teens, my sister wanted to frame the clothes or something, and my parents were like “you’ll have to ask OP. It’s her stuff, after all” That shocked the hell out of my sister. After much crying, she tried to convince me to give her ‘half’ of the set. I said no. At one point she stole it, and it took me weeks to get it back from her. Luckily it’s fine, but its in my apartment instead of my parents house now.
My sister is currently 2 weeks from her due date. Basically, she’s ready to give birth any day now. She randomly bring up “oh, you’ll let me borrow the stuff great gran made

AITA for disagreeing with my wife when she says she’s been abused by hospital staff during birth
I (f27) have been with my wife (f39) for seven years, married for two. And she gave birth to our daughter two months ago. She carried our child because of medical history in my family.
She had a bad delivery. Very long and painful and she does not handle pain well. She did not want to have an epidural because she wanted to be completely present during the birth and I totally understand and support her in her decisions.
Towards the end of her delivery she started to get quite hysterical from the pain, and yes this was very understandable but she started to get so hysterical with her breathing, movement etc. that is was becoming dangerous for her and the baby.
Myself, the doctors and nurses all tried to get her to be as calm as possible and eventually the doctor needed to get firm with her and myself and a nurses needed to hold her down a little bit because to baby was in distress and my wife was not doing well either. This way our daughter was eventually born and she was so good.

AITA for telling my friend it's her own fault she's being treated "badly" by the hospital?
My friend was recently in a major motorcycle accident. She's messed up pretty bad. Both legs broken, broken ribs, head injury plus more. The thing is she used to be a junky, majorly addicted to H.
When she was in the accident she was honest with them about her past addiction. They acknowledged it and were treating her pain like a normal person at first. She was on high doses of narcs because she legit needed them, & she said at first the docs and nurses treated her respectfully. She said she was having a problem though with being in pretty bad pain b4 it was time for her next dose so they were giving her Ibuprofen, but she kept complaining it wasn't helping & they told her they couldn't give her the next dosage of narcs any earlier. She was on a pump at first & she could press a button ever so often to deliver more narcs, but they took that away after a few days.
Well, this is where she messed up. She had her husband bring her tramadol from home to help w/ the pain. I'm

medical professionals: What is something about being Obese in the hospital that you wish more people knew?
I was thinking about this and my experiences. Sooner or later we will all end up in a hospital bed, It isn't something that you normally think about but for those of us who are obese and especially morbidly obese there are some things you need to know.
- You can't just lay there. The nurses and staff have to turn you. If you weigh 300+ that can mean a TEAM of people have to do it. And it just isn't pleasant for anyone. Turn techniques don't work as well, lift sheets are not large enough. Imagine 5-8 people around your bed grunting and panting just to turn you over.
- This doesn't just hurt you. Nurses have had their backs permanently damaged trying to lift and care for mega sized patients. If 5-8 people are turning you, then there are other patients on that floor who have no care giver.
- Treatments, and tests will not work the same on you.
- X-Ray. I have had to max out the output of radiation just to get a glimpse of a super obese patients organs. I have had to use 9 f

I've been in hospital for 24 hours because my blood pressure was dangerously high. Now I need to make some lifestyle changes, but my cooking knowledge all starts from salt and fats. Where do I begin?
Basically during a routine eye exam, my blood pressure was in the 230s/160s and I was admitted to the ER. Theyve gotten it lower and I'm on hospital food at the moment, but I don't even know how to adjust my cooking for my new lifestyle. Does anyone have any tips or recipes for delicious but hearthealth conscious meals? Thank you!
Edit: Holy crap. After hours of not looking at my phone, this post got way more comments than I anticipated.
Thank you everyone for your comments and help. I'm stuck here another night, so I have plenty of time to read your comments. People can be great sometimes and you all count as great. Thank you for caring. <3

Surgery cancelled because Catholic hospital won’t do “that type of procedure.”
I was supposed to have a bilateral salpingectomy a couple of months back, but it got postponed due to Covid. Annoying, but I understand. So my doctor arranged for me to have it at another hospital this Friday. The hospital called her today (2 days before) and they told her they won’t do “that type of procedure” because they’re catholic. Even she was surprised. Now I have to wait even longer to get it done.
But get this: that hospital does vasectomies! WHAT THE FUCK??!! Why don’t they just come out say that they hate women?
This whole experience is such a joke. I am so disgusted by everyone and every institution who has tried to stand in my way of having this done. This has to change. It’s 2020 and a 33 year old woman should be allowed to decide not to have children if she doesn’t want them. The fact that this is even a problem is mind blowing to me.

WIBTA if I didn't call my ex-fiancé to the hospital until after our son is born?
I'm literally in labour right now (contractions 20 mins apart for now) so I need a somewhat quick judgement.
My ex and I broke up officially last week, but our relationship has been on a downhill slope since we found out I was pregnant. Basically he refused to work because he was a student so I had to take on all of the saving and such myself, and then lied to me about how much effort he was putting into his studies. All while he was trying to pressure me to move out of my mom's house into our own apartment (he was also living with his parents) on just $2000/month and his student loans. Luckily I refused there. He ended up failing and not graduating on time because of his lack of effort so I took on all of the stress myself for nothing, because as far as I'm concerned if he had been honest about not wanting to study and gotten a job, things would've been so much easier and less stressful for me. I went without many of the comfort items that a lot of women swear by, which contributed t
