My Tacoma (2014) and Camry (2015) have THE WORST headrests/head restraints I have ever experienced. They hunch my head forward if I sit upright with my back against the seat. It's baffling to me why I cannot adjust them fore and aft.
I am 5'10", short legs, long torso. Working on my posture, but I just cannot get comfortable in my cars.
Anyone have after-market recommendations?
I wanted Embody for a year but wasn’t able to try it in person. I finally bought it and sat in it for a few days. Sadly, I realized my long torso and long neck requires a headrest. In my former office chair, I was able to slide down and put my feet up whenever I needed to rest my head but the Embody doesn’t work that way. It is truly a comfortable chair for my back and supports my spine but the length of my back and neck require something extra. When watching YouTube tutorials, it is nice to recline with neck support.
I went to a local Steelcase distributor and tried the Gesture with headrest and really liked it. I am going to buy it and will update.

Could anyone who owns the Steelcase Gesture with headrest post a picture of the headrest being flipped to the back or at a maximum backward angle? I just want to make sure that I could adjust it to not touch my head if I don’t need it. Much appreciated🙏🏻 would like to ask whether if it also fits someone 183cm tall?
Does that exist and where can I buy it if im from Canada?
We've been getting a lot of questions about headrests and like rests recently, so lets try a thread on this topic for a little while.
I've had a remastered Aeron for a couple of months now and absolutely love it. The only thing that slightly bothered me was not being able to rest my head while in an inclined position.
So I went ahead and bought an atlas suspension headrest. While this definitely improves the inclined experience I feel like the headrest is in the way when in a normal upright position. I've even developed a stiff neck the last couple of days which I clearly attribute to the headrest interfering with my usual head and neck mobility.
Anyone else experience this?
I've seen a lot of people gushing about the HM Aeron at $1500 and the Steelcase Leap at $2000 which are orders of magnitude more expensive than the ErgoChair2 and mostly people have favorable reviews. I've also seen some reviews of the Ergo Chair 2 that are generally negative.
These two though do not have headrests and in my opinion the EC2 is nicer looking. Are there any other chairs that are (1) comparable in price to the EC2 that are better? And (2) regardless of price, any chairs that are not the Leap and Aeron that are better than the EC2?
Hello everyone and welcome to Day 2 of the r/indieheads Album of the Year 2020 Write-Up Series where the users of r/indieheads go in-depth on their favorite albums of the year throughout the duration of December. Up today, series founder u/ReconEG talks Car Seat Headrest’s polarizing Making A Door Less Open.
The time period between Car Seat Headrest’s Matador debut, Teens of Style, in 2015 and the 2018 remake of Twin Fantasy was a massive, massive breakthrough period for the band. Starting off as a solo project of sorts by founder Will Toledo, the band had expanded its lineup to seven members for the Twin Fantasy tour, taking songs Toledo recorded initially in his car and filling them out to play in bigger and bigger venues, peaking around February 2019 when the band opened for Interpol at Madison Square Garden.
Behind the scenes though, Toledo was year 3 into writing the follow-up to Teens of Denial and Twin Fantasy, sporadically entering the studio between one elongated tour after another to work these ideas out with his core lineup of drummer Andrew Katz, guitarist Ethan Ives, and bassist Seth Dalby, which was solidified in 2016 after the recording of Teens of Denial. While the band was praised for its resemblance to indie royalty acts of the 90s and early 2000s, they were all getting kind of sick of making music in that vein, all clearly pushing for something different.
It was Katz especially that Toledo confided in as a collaborator, as seeing him work on his 1 Trait Danger project opened up new songwriting possibilities, taking these songs he was writing and making them work around Katz expertise in EDM mixing. While early versions of the songs and ideas that would make their way into this follow-up album were more indebted to early new-wave than anything else, things would drastically shift by mid to late 2019 when they entered the s... keep reading on reddit ➡
I was on a 4chan thread about music only faggots listen to, someone posted the twin fantasy album cover, that caught my eye so I listened to my boy. It was that exact moment I realized I was gay. Thank you anon.

I find the early music of Car Seat Headrest to be extremely appealing and charming. It’s pretty cool to be able to feel closer to the music when I understand it was recorded using what the artist had. I’m also a fan of Ariel Pink and Jack Stauber.
I guess I’m searching for more music of that lo-fi, DIY recording quality.
So, I designed a foot to jam between the headboard and the wall, with a block to put the lamp in.
Then, I made a custom adapter for the phone stand by Arron_mollet22 to fit where the actual lampholder was.

I just came across this while doing an image search on herman miller embody headrest options. I think this guy deserves some kudos. Has anyone seen this?
So I have a 2021 turbo hatch, and on the day I picked it up I basically set the headrest at the lowest possible position. Over time I noticed the headrest would slowly ride up, with the gap between the headrest and backrest getting bigger and bigger. I'd give the headrest a gentle push back down and think nothing of it... until it kept riding up again, and again, and again every few days repeatedly.
Fed up with the bullshit I decided to look into it closer this weekend. Gave the whole headrest on the driver seat an upward tug and was shocked to find that it pulled right out, only catching at the topmost groove on the metal rails. I could feel and hear it skip over each of the grooves, but it would not lock into place at each one.
I tried repeating the same thing on the passenger side and discovered the headrest stops moving up at EACH of the grooves on the metal rails, securely locking it into place. No up or down movement unless I pushed the tab in to unlock it again.
So basically the driver side one is fucked, as I suspected.
Apparently back in 2019 there was a recall for a similar issue: PDF link here
Although on mine there's enough clearance for the seat material not to interfere with the locking tab. But the failure itself is identical (the tab is acting like it's stuck in the unlocked position). The locking mechanism just skips over all the notches until it gets to the topmost one. So I'm thinking either the whole locking plate will need to be replaced, or the notch dimensions for the headrest rails are out of spec.
Scheduled an appointment with the dealership this Friday to have it checked out now. I'm just annoyed they could potentially scuff up the leatherette seats trying to repair this dumb thing. Car has less than 900 miles on it, and besides this one issue everything else looks and functions flawlessly.
Anyway just wanted to give the rest of you a heads up to check your headrests out. Don't think that just because you have a newer model year past recall issues (or similar failures) can't happen!
TL;DR: I've had my 2021 turbo hatch for about a month and have noticed the driver seat headrest doesn't latch properly onto each of the height adjustment grooves on the metal rails. Might want to check yours too. Also sorry for lack of pictures to better explain what's going on. It's too late/dark out now for that here.
Hi it's us!
We put out a new album in May: https://carseatheadrest.bandcamp.com/
Ethan also put out a great solo record in June: https://ethanives.bandcamp.com/album/life-for-cowards He is “in the car” right now, but will answer questions as soon as he’s back.
Andrew is hard at work on the next 1 Trait Danger video game, which will be much more extensive than the last.
What are Seth & I doing? Ask and find out…
Answers will come at a leisurely rate. AMA, even if it is personal or a complaint about our music, if it is phrased seriously, I will give you my best answer.
Edit: There are a lot of questions! I can go all day, but the cutoff time for questions I'll be able to get to is 2 pm PST.
