Decided to do a special batch featuring the flavours of Southeast Asia. Aside from the common Mango & Pineapple, there's pink guava, chiku (sapodilla), starfruit, Jack fruit and the crowd pleaser, Lychee! Also "Tom Yum" booch lol!
What's the deal with guava
At first it was just sprinkled into seemingly random fruited sours. Now I'd say its in well over half of any sour/wheat with fruit. I've seen 2 local breweries in the last 10 days or so release IPA's with guava now. Do they give this crap away for free? Is big guava trying to get recognition in the craft industry? Does anyone else share a new irrational hatred for guava? I mean I don't even think I dislike the stuff, but now that I think about it, its never just guava added by itself, so maybe it is terrible. I feel that almost all the beers that have guava would be even better without it. Is my pallet broken? What is the mysterious magical properties about this fruit that makes brewers put this in everything possible?
