I was born in the USA to an American mother and a Guatemalan father. I know I am entitled to the Guatemalan passport because my father
I am going to the Guatemalan embassy to get my birth certificate authenticated next week as I was told last time I was in Guatemala I had to get it authenticated in the state I was born in. It has my fathers name and says he was Guatemalan and born there. I am also getting it translated into Spanish and notarized.
I will go to Guatemala next month..I am over 18 so I heard more papers are needed- but i don't know for sure?? I have tried to call the embassy but they never answer
Also, my father died 2 weeks ago- my family will help me and go to RENAP with me- but now since he has passed away what papers of his do I need? Will his DPI/passport , death certificate be enough?? Or will we also need his birth certificate?
When I go to RENAP in Guatemala city what is the process after and if they accept the paperwork??
so stressful ! I really want my Guatemalan passport and know I am eligible
are there any Guatemalan lawyers here who can answer? Or anyone who has done a similar process??
