BIG OLD OY VEY, AMIRITE?
Sorry if this has been broached before. If it has, don’t pay me any mind.
I just got back into the game, after a 23 year or so hiatus. My last game was in 1997, before I started up again last week.
I looked at Gun H(e)aven, and what is staring me in the face? Single and double action revolvers. Fraggin’ REVOLVERS. A jazzed-up 1911. Ffs, there’s a rifle in there modeled on an 1895 Winchester lever action. It’s supposed to be, what? The 2070s? Revolvers and lever guns are obsolescent/obsolete NOW. All the artwork is re-hashes of IRL guns in production now, and that’s been a thing since the game was published under FASA (that, and Decker’s Blade Runner pistol, and the original Ares Predator being the Robocop gun without the burst fire).
I watched a YouTube video where some guy built a few prototype electromagnetically powered rail guns in his basement, with drek from Radio Shack and some RC car batteries. They were full auto, and while not terribly powerful, they did shred a... keep reading on reddit ➡
None of this canon vs non-canon, gender vs gender, rpg vs linear, gameplay vs story, lore vs revision, purist vs progressive, Assassin vs Warrior, II vs Odyssey, Unity-coulda-been-the-best vs Unity-is-crap, hook vs blade.
When this constant picking-of-sides and arguing wasn't a thing and we all agreed that AC was nearly perfect because it actually had structure for what it was and where it was going. The biggest arguments we had were who was the best Assassin and "are the Assassins right or are the Templars actually right?"
This isn't a "bash the new games" post; I just miss the days when AC felt like it knew what it was and where it was going. I personally really enjoy playing Odyssey even though I'm disappointed in a lot of the changes it made to the series.
I just always scroll through all these gripes and bickering every day, and had a brief reprieve when I remembered playing the Desmond titles and (aside from slowness of story sometimes) we basically only had one gripe and it w... keep reading on reddit ➡
..... but I saw an ad for RBI Baseball the other day..... and good lord does it look like garbage. Let me be the first to appreciate that we have the Show and we aren’t stuck playing that dumpster fire.
Basically the title, I’ve commented about this before but I’m just now finishing the last episode of the series.
So, upfront, Michelle’s book is good. There are some issues with it that are characteristic of posthumous books (some inconsistent style, little things), but overall it’s a great dive into a crazy and honestly kind of unique crime spree. She does a great job of connecting the crimes, bringing the focus back to the victims, and I cannot give her enough credit for popularizing the name Golden State Killer and getting this crime on the map.
But...the show is really not “based” on her book like it claims to be. It’s really about her writing the book, with some interspersing of the crime in there, up until the last episode really. But more than that, the show builds up her involvement in this case in a way that is just disingenuous. Ultimately, and they say this in the show, the work she did did not play any significant role in solving the crime. They slip it in there so yo... keep reading on reddit ➡
The relationship in question is Paran and Tattersail. People often complain its out of place, a bit cringey, and comes out of nowhere.
First of all, it is cringey and it does come out of nowhere, but I think that's kind of the point. They're both insanely traumatized when they meet, and they find a little island of humanity amid their inner turmoil; I think that's plenty to warrant such a strong connection between the two. I mean Tattersail was betrayed and watched her Cadre, including her lover, murdered in front of her, along with scores of soldiers turning to her for salvation. Paran was literally murdered and brought back to life. Of course once they fuck they're gonna hang on to that pretty hard.
Furthermore, everybody else kind of see's this too. Paran and Whiskeyjack are speaking before Paran and Silverfox meet, and Paran's being all mopey and self-centered (which is totally in character for him), and then Whiskeyjack drops this line

Quick funny short story C:
When I was 17, I’d bought my bff a ticket to come with me to an amazing concert.
We got to the venue and waited O U T S I D E for 14 hours in the August sunshine to get good floor seats.
We had a blast and my bff managed to get her hands on the barricades and I was slightly behind with a person between me and them.
One of The opener bands was a smash hit. And the headliner is still to this day a band I wear on my skin in ink I love them that much. I had so much fun jumping around and singing along, especially for the headliner.
From the start of the night after reaching barricades — EK Princess was texting. Snapping. And generally not even looking at the stage or singing or acting like she was excited. This was throughout the openers and Well into the headliner —
EKP was also a good foot and half shorter than me. So you can imagine her being distraught about me AND EVERYONE ELSE AT THE FRONT BARRICADES jumping around and enjoying themselves.... keep reading on reddit ➡
Is it just me, or were the conflicts with Ebenezer and Lara very obviously driven by the need for conflict in the plot and not arising out of the story or the characters?

Other than that, loving the game!
First off, I adored the show so much. I just finished the first episode of 3Below and I think I'm gonna love that one too. But that said, I had one issue with how it ended. Namely, Jim's transformation.
The whole show, they kept preaching about how it was Jim's humanity that made him so powerful and successful. His human nature and intuition, his tendency to rely on others instead of working alone, etc. Transforming into a half troll to win felt like a huge betrayal of the show's message.
If you had to pick just one thing that you dislike most about the Paul W.S. Anderson Resident Evil films, what would it be? I imagine a lot of people are going to say "Alice", but if you could elaborate on your answer I think it would be cool to hear the reasons
I just finished the first game (first 4 cases, haven't gotten the motivation to do the 5th one yet) and I wasn't too fond of it. The writing is definitely great and the characters were very well written, but there are some details that really bother me. I hope someone can help me clear this up because it seriously took away my enjoyment of the game. I also want to know if it gets better in the 2nd and 3rd games.
In case 1, did no one bother to check the fingerprints on the statue-clock? Was the court seriously going to accuse a man of murder based on random witness testimony and disregard actual physical evidence?
In case 2, why the hell did Redd White commit the murder himself anyway? If he is supposedly so important, he must be able to order some goons to do the deed for him. It also makes no sense that he is suddenly so afraid of some random list of people. If he is so influential as the game claims he should be able to silent the press no problem. Also did Maya seriously get

I just finished my second playthrough of the KotFE/KotET expansions and I have some things that I really need to get off my chest. Been jobless since October to travel, I was forced to return to the UK in March (for obvious reasons we are all affected by) and applied for around 200 jobs since then.
I think my biggest peeve at the moment is almost every company having their own website which you need to create an account for just to apply for 1 role. So for me it’s Biggie > Nas > .....>Jay. Somebody please tell me how to fall in love with his music? See, jay is a bit one dimensional to me. My favorite song of his are Songcry and 4:44, where he shows a different side and tone to his music. Reasonable Doubt and The blueprint are still incredible and undoubtedly classics. Yet to me Jay-Z lacks something. He doesn’t have the charisma of biggie: „You look so good, I‘d suck on your daddy’s dick“ or the vivid image-creating lyrics of nas „I saw a dead bird flying through a broken sky“. So what is it? What makes Jay-Z a goat in your eyes?
Disclaimer: When it comes to bodies of work: it’s Kendrick, Biggie, Eminem, Kanye, Tupac and Nas then Jay-Z for me.
On another note: For me a lot of this new black entrepreneur stuff has been hard to digest. How disconnected are you, that you think buying a building is going to solve the fact that wherever I go people judge me? Man.
TL;DR I really hope C# offers an official/opinionated way that integrates nicely with all editors & command line to format/lint code.
I made a post earlier that asks about the formatting/linting options that exist for C# and got a lot of good suggestions. My conclusion is that there is
Roslynator for general linting and
StyleCop analyzer and
.editorconfig for formatting. However, applying these actually in a project is still not trivial:
.editorconfigand match each analyzer rule that the IDE doesn't like with an EditorConfig rule.
.editorconfigis also extremely
I don't really want to complain about this, I just want to know how prevalent this problem is. Does anyone else begin every match by rebinding abilities depending on your agent?

The battlepass this season seems really fresh with new takes on gliders, emotes and pickaxes! I'm not a big fan of collab skins but there's a lot of variety in there with plenty of edit styles to come. Gliders look amazing and the emotes have really been turned up a notch this season! People who wanted pets would be happy to see Rocket Racoon and Sapling Groot. The backbling also look really clean and certainly will go with a lot of skins. I'd say in general I have a very positive opinion on the BP.
But the one thing that I didn't like is how almost all the gliders and emotes are in-built ones that can be used exclusively with that particular skin. Battlepass skins come and go and most people have their favorite Item Shop skins that they use the most & we won't be able to use these with our favourite skins. So while these emotes and gliders are really amazing, I'm not a fan of how they're restricted to the corresponding skin.
Let me preface this by saying that I’ve been pretty blown away by FS2020 so far. Out of the box it looks incredible, performance has been amazing for me, and it’s clear Asobo understand that this is a platform and not just a game.
For me, the weakest point so far has been the default airliners. Admittedly, they’re very similar to what we’ve gotten in the past, and I’m excited to see what PMDG et. al. can do with this new platform.
With that said, I wanted to start a thread where we can share issues that we’re running into and share solutions as we find them. I’ll get things kicked off by listing a few issues I’ve found and ask anyone who has found a solution to chime in in the comments:

What’s one of your biggest frustrations with the pandemic and your job?
Mine sounds petty but it’s surprisingly irritating. I work for a solo, and it’s just him and me. We have a front lobby reception desk which is not manned because we’ve moved to a virtual receptionist (best business decision ever, btw). I have my office back in the “office area” and I prefer it to the reception desk because it’s more comfortable and I have more room to spread out my stuff.
During normal times, we get a lot of walk-ins from the street, asking for legal help/consults, so I end up spending about 1/4 my time at reception anyway. That’s okay... I manage.
ANYWAY, since March, we’ve had a sign on our door: “Masks Required for all appointments. Walk-ins not accepted due to COVID-19. Please call (our number) to make an appointment.” And yet. And yet. The attorney will be meeting with a client and will have forgotten to lock the door, so of course without fail, someone off the street ambles in and starts... keep reading on reddit ➡

I just went to Taco Bell for the first time since the menu change, I knew it was coming but as a vegetarian and Taco Bell regular it definitely stung.
Can someone explain the logic of only having the quesorito available to order online? Are they just trying to cut down on the amount of them that people order? Also, did they get rid of the black bean burrito (the one with rice)? That used to be one of my go to items but I haven't ordered it for a while, and now it appears to gone.
Have they changed their creamy jalapeno sauce recently? I swear it tastes different than it used to, more smokey now. I'm not a fan.
Really not stoked about having the vegetarian options cut in half. Sad time to be a Taco Bell enthusiast.

2KTV feels kinda forced. Like there's no legit passion for what they're supposed to be talking about in what's essentially an irremovable infomercial. They only people I can tell are showing some legit emotion are the sellouts--sorry--guests!
I just don't feel the passion from 2KTV. If you want to peddle your wares and get people to spend the time to watch you, act a bit more... interested. Don't act like you're on 60 minutes or Good Morning America, just... Show some legit excitement for what you're telling us. Maybe that way, people won't just stick around for a chance at extra VC.

Just came so very, very close to winning my first ever science victory on deity. I was Korea. I had one space ship part left. I had the policy that let me purchase side ship parts with gold. I purchased the final part and waited to put it into the space ship.
Ethiopia finished the freaking spaceship in the turn between then and my victory! Raaaaaaaaàaajuh!
Anyway, I reloaded the last auto save and just sold buildings and units the whole way through until I had the last tech, and I won my first deity by the skin on my teeth, this time one turn before Ethiopia could.
I dunno how the hell others can win as anything less than S-tier civs, because I barely won as Korea, but I freaking did it, and with only one instance of flagrant cheating!
The changes made since Rome II have had a very detrimental effect on the amount of tactical depth on the campaign map. First of all making armies into self contained units takes away scores of options and control from the player. It largely removes the need to monitor settlement defences because they all have garrisons now, you can no longer send small detachments to deal with smaller threats, instead being forced to move an entire stack to deal with one tiny rebel army, and it places so many arbitrary restrictions on the player, such as not being able to deploy another general in 3k despite having the means to financially support it, simply because the game says I may not.
Furthermore fielding troops in huge quantities is a non issue now, as things like population numbers, availability, and local infrastructure are no longer factors in raising troops. In addition replenishing casualties is free and automatic, only requiring you to be in friendly te... keep reading on reddit ➡
Sorry if this has already been discussed here, but how in the world would Trisolaris ever develop life? If the planet truly experienced the three-body problem, no life would have been able to survive such drastic shifts in climate. I realize this is science fiction, and the rules of physics were played with (2vf, pocket dimensions, etc.), but I see no way any living thing could survive and reproduce quickly enough to evolve to survive on such a planet. Even thousands of years is not enough for a unicellular organism to reach higher vertebrates. The constant, drastic, and most importantly, unpredictable, changes would have wiped out anything in the midst of reaching civilization.
I realize sometimes hard sci-fi needs to take some liberties, but as an ecologist, this one was hard for me to swallow. The entire rest of the series though, is fucking phenomenal. Just finished last night and I'm still reeling. It truly changed the way I look at life.
For me it's rei's hair, if her hair was white then everyone in the show would have normal hair. And her albinism would give her another quality that makes her stand out from the cast.
Would there be any other reason why her hair is blue? I mean at the beginning she is this passive doll who will do as they command, except she dyed her hair blue. I know she looses a lot of symbolism without it but it grinds my gears.
I hate the mechasuits. They’re pointless and totally take me out of the story. The show is supposed to be set in the 1920s and they’re out here with more advanced tech than us
The biggest place I feel like this show went wrong was killing off Lee in the very first episode. With how centered this show is on Dutton family dynamics, I feel like we really would have benefitted from seeing how Lee fit in with the family and the relationship he had with everyone. Plus his death would have had such a bigger impact if we actually got to know him. Does anyone think this was justified or necessary to the shows ark?
Unless I've been missing something since 5 came out (if I have please correct me) it's a minor annoyance but seems like a massive oversight that there are no difficulty options in The Void.
It's not that big a deal but it's a huge pain in the ass to jump into practice, forgetting you last played on DMD. Leaving you with the options to practice against an enemy who will DT and be an annoyance when you just want to mess around with an unkillable dummy without super armor, or quit out and sit through multiple loading screens just to load up a stage on a different difficulty to set your practice mode difficulty.
5 SE or DMC 6 whichever we get next I really hope they fix this and add the option to set difficulty while in practice or at least let you change difficulty at the loadout screen for The Void. We've got options to swap out the enemy and our loadout from the menu so why can't we select the difficulty while we're at it?

What’s your biggest gripe about the series? Big or small all gripes are welcome.
Mine is the fighting. I want some of the fights to be longer and see more creative use of quirks this would include better support items to maximise quirks.
If you do mention a grip could you tell me whether it will be resolved or not in your opinion.
I know this isn't an important change cause I've maybe looked at the dex of characters maybe 15 times total since the game came out but if they could reorder the characters into the generations they come from like they have done with the sync pair stories it would make more sense. I do get that its in order of being released but the first half is sorted and then the last ones are all jumbled up.
So yeah. Completely RNG bound. Obviously the style of play is different, more simplistic and somewhat boring to say the least, especially if the draft went badly.
I was ecstatic when I drafted around 11 golds once, but my joy quickly faded when I lost 3 out of 4 matches to people playing with nothing but gold apparently. It's sad plopping down bronze after bronze for the opponent to wipe the board with two copies of Heimdall. Not to mention they all seem to be Prestige 3-4 judging by their GG rewards. Are there not many new players playing Arena or is it supposed to be just for advanced players?
Not to mention the rewards were somewhat middling the one time I managed to win around 3-4 games. I've had 4 runs so far and all of them ended poorly. Either I get shafted during the draft, Or if I do manage to get a respectable number of golds, I'm still outnumbered or outclassed by the golds I run into. I've broken even most of the time considering the kegs but should I just stay away from... keep reading on reddit ➡

I hate that to turn all my mods on and off I gave to press the fire button X number of times. Like to power off when I'm low on juice I have to fire the device. Isn't that the worst design decision ever? I can't even tell you how many times I've had to fire the device 10 times just because I slightly missed the timing or something.
Of course when it's that low I'm probably swapping out a coil or doing a rebuild so it probably doesn't matter. Just seems ridiculous though. Like, why the hell isn't there just a power button like basically every other electronic device in the world? Seems so simple, why make things difficult...
This is a good background show. It’s not captivating, but I like see the looks. Its not GREAT, but it keeps my attention (for the most part). I used to watch it while running on the treadmill and it was great for that.
However, my three biggest complaints with the show are:
Episodes are almost 45 minutes. These could easilyyyyy be trimmed down to 30 minutes imo. Some of the parts just seem like they drag on
So many chair challenges somehow boil down to the MUAs doing “outside vs inside” makeup? Mask challenge? “This is the external me vs my internal struggle.” Personal story challenge? “I’m doing half what I feel inside vs what I show on the outside”
“Ding Dong.” Need I say more? Piggy backing off that, the judging seems really inconsistent. But at the same time, I’m not an expert. Idk sometimes they just love things that I think look sloppy.
My main gripe with the show is how themes of racism were introduced between the elves and the humans which can be seen prevalently through the town that Rayla walks through. Once all the humans find out she is an elf, they turn against her and start chasing her.
However when we get to Xadia all of that tension is nowhere to be found. Callum who is shown to be a human is asked no questions by Ethari. Amaya immediately gets over her hatred for the elves, even though it is shown in the first season how she viewed them as monsters.
Another gripe I have is how it handles seriousness and comedy. Of course a show can be both serious and comedic, but I don’t like when a true serious moment such as the final battle is ruined for the sake of a cheap gag like Barius the Baker having a part in the fight. Keep the high stakes moments high stakes and don’t undercut it for the sake of a joke.
Anyways those are some of mine; what are yours?
So the other week soda can boxes were on sale, something like buy 2 get 1 free. I'm ringing up this customer who misread the sign and thought it said buy 1 get 2 free. He doesn't get the sodas after I price check it and explain it to him.
I thought everything was normal until SM pulls me aside and asks what was up with soda guy. After I tell her, SM says I should've just adjusted the price because we do that for any customer who says a price is different if the discrepancy is less than $10.
Just wondeng if this is a thing at other stores because it seems like such a lax/weird rule to me.

I rewatched this episode last night and one thing has bugged me since. It mustn't have bothered me the first time but when "Chloe" rings up the first couple of times before we find out it's been George all along, "she" sounds like an actual teenage girl, or a woman at least.
After it's revealed to have been George making the calls, who then rings up as "Chloe", it sounds very much like a fully grown man putting on a female girls' voice.
Apologies if I'm missing something but it's really done my head in since last night!

I absolutely love Ring Fit! I'm currently level 230 and working through the extra levels and am still loving it. If there's one thing that I wish was different in the game it's this: I wish there was an option to turn the healing excercises into attack excercises.
There are so many good excercises that I never get to use because there's no need to heal, ever. Every smoothie late game heals some hearts and no enemy can hit me for more than a quarter heart anyway, so all those excercises have no point at all being locked in as "healing" excercises. I wish I had reason to use them during regular gameplay so I could take full advantage of all the excercises that are in the game.
And the way they could do that is to give an option in the settings to switch the healing workout to attack workout like the others.

A defendant is on trial for bank robbery. In seeking to prove that the defendant was the robber, the prosecution introduced a handwritten note given by the robber to the bank teller. The teller testified that the note presented to her on the witness stand was the note that she received from the robber. The prosecution also seeks to have the teller testify as a lay witness that the handwriting on the note is that of the robber based on her comparison of the note with ten customer signature cards presented to her by the prosecutor after the robbery.
Is the teller’s testimony that the handwriting on the note matches that of the robber’s customer signature card admissible?
A - No, because a lay witness may not testify as to whether a document is in a person’s handwriting.
B - No, because the teller’s familiarity with the defendant’s handwriting arose from the actions of the prosecutor.

It annoys me that the season five maps are constantly forced onto us. There is a season five mosh pit game mode already, and I hoped that the quick play mode would give me a rotation of different, older maps, but the map rotation in quick play includes the same season five maps! Suldal harbour and Cheshire park seem to be on a higher repeat than any of the other maps as well, and these are my least favourite of the new maps. Is a bit of variation, or ability to choose the maps you enjoy too much to ask?
I've heard from a lot of people that shotos are either respectable and cool characters, or that they are just plain old mashers and fear that they could get buffed again for no reason.
So I recently turned the game sound on for a bit instead of just playing music in the background and it struck me why I don’t really like the t7 ost.
Regardless of the quality of the tracks I think it’s massively hindered by how they tie the transitions to the rounds (by default*). When you reach final round it’s always an abrupt transition to a final round version, and I think it really kills the flow.
When you use the jukebox mode, there is no option to just continue the same track, this hinders older tunes because they were designed to be heard for more than a minute before really hitting their stride.
Basically all the t7 songs are designed around that format, so they pretty much sound the same throughout. They are immediate without any buildup and then transition to a faster tempo version which feels kind of lifeless. The more I think about it I feel like it’s a huge step back and I’d rather they don’t do that in t8.

i'm going to announce up front that i love pretty much all of the girls and when watching the show/lurking on this sub, i totally try to maintain a complex, multifaceted, and realistic picture of what each of them are like. i will also say that of the four, samantha and miranda would probably be my first picks for friends i'd like to have in real life (although tbh, that's only if i had to be friends with any of them - if it were really up to me, i'd probably just keep them as acquaintances or less).
however, it kind of irks me how often people on this sub talk about how supposedly amazing and nonjudgmental samantha is. i get it - i too am very touched every time i watch the big/carrie affair arc and she refuses to judge carrie, and i'm equally outraged by carrie's shitty treatment of her during the ups guy/book cover episode. i think she's a great friend - to CARRIE. with pretty much everyone else, though, she's extremely judgmental, nasty, uncaring, and snide, even if by the end of... keep reading on reddit ➡
Has anyone else listened to Obscura? I love a lot of the content but in just about every episode the narrator wildly mis-pronounces or mis-reads words and it drives me nuts. In the Sylvia Likens episode he says the name Gertrude with the emphasis on the second syllable (gerTRUDE) about a hundred times and it was so annoying I had to turn it off. He also pronounced St. Louis Missouri as St. Louie. He sounds American so it’s not like he’s just unfamiliar. He also mis-pronounces other “big” words which makes me assume he doesn’t write the episodes or he’d pick different words, but then why wouldn’t the writer correct him?
Anyway.... sorry for the long complaint but curious if this bothers others as well.
You have to bear in mind that this is a game that severs itself from the arkhamverse so you have totally new personas and incarnations to deal with.
I know it's frustrating to wait 5 years for a new Batman game only to learn that it isn't a Batman game, per se.
However I must give it to the devs, it's a VERY BOLD and BRAVE move to make a game where you play as his sidekicks and supporters rather than the icon himself. I think it's interesting and for that approach ALONE I'm willing to give them my support.
I'm excited to see what they plan to do with these 4 who are very different characters.
Bear in mind that this is, if the rumors are true, a kick-off for a DC Gaming Universe and Batman WILL get eventually his own game again.
I think after 4 games with him, it's okay to give others time to shine... and as for the gameplay - they said it was pre-alpha game footage so improvements are almost guaranteed.
The world looks, imo, amazing!
Maybe try, at first, to keep an o
Time. They don't seem to convey the amount of time it takes to go places in space! In the books it's well described but everything just feels like it happens instantly in the show.
For example, there is supposed to be about 5 years between the events of book 3 and 4, and even after going through the ring gate it was another 72 days for the roci to get to ilys, but they didn't convey that at all.
Something is definitely being lost on me as to how immense space/distance/time really is when watching the show rather than reading the books.
