A collection of Hermits and Friends of Hermits fanboying/fangirling over Etho

Most of these clips/links are ones I have shared in this sub either by posting or commenting. So there may be quite a few you've already seen. But I was encouraged to post this to the main sub after collecting all the links in a response comment to someone yesterday in r/hermitchat. Obviously, this is by no means a complete collection [this is all only 2020/2021 content] but hopefully you'll see something new you hadn't seen before!

Impulse

>Part 1/2 "Am I really playing on a server with Etho? [I'm] still in shock." It's a bit difficult to read the chat so here is what is said and the response (keep in mind Impulse's stream is delayed slightly for everyone watching). Impulse says "Still blows me away that I even get a chance to play with him." Etho replies "you are and I am lurking." At the end Impulse says "Now Etho just said he's watching my stream so I'm gonna go away" as he disables his facecam. Etho: "time to get embarrassed."

>Part 2/2 "Now I've said way too many good things, he's going to use it against me when we play Among Us!"

>"If Etho thinks something: that's the truth, done."

Tango

>"Who's the best redstoner on the server?" [Tango initially says Mumbo and then goes on to call Etho a legend who basically invented redstone and then talks about Etho's What is Love noteblock job for Keralis.]

>"Etho's played Decked out? Etho's going to win Decked Out."

>"The hermits don't notice anything. It'll basically be a store for Etho and that's it."

>Etho didn't know it was actual void in the Keralis pit. He thought it was black concrete!

>^^More ^^and ^^even ^^more

Impulse & Tango

>"You pretty much have to always watch Etho's video."

Frozen Homes Pt 54: Revelations

Monday release Ahoy.

Tiny bit shorter than normal but it was a good place to stop.

As normal if you see something out of place feel free to point it out. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the chapter!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Michael paced around the room, tightly holding onto the com card he had finally received from one of the guards. Looking to Srettia, who was still walking around and practicing her postures, Michael sighed. "Remember. NO talking and NO getting into the picture. That was the deal I had to make to be able to call outside of Luna. They want your arrival to be a super surprise, I guess."

Srettia nodded and continued her training. "Just call already. How bad can it be?"

Michael waved her off and walked over to the couch. Slipping the card into the coms unit, Michael input the number with his implant and watched as the unit spun up and began to ring.

Not having to wait long, The picture displayed a young woman with a radiant smile looking back at Michael. "Michael? Oh! my boy! My beautiful baby boy!"

"Hi, mom." Michael replied, throwing her a wave and a smile.

"Michael! when did you get back from that alien system. Oh, how's my little spud doing?" Ms. Graeme replied, happily sitting down on her couch.

"Spud? Did your mom call you spud?" Srettia whispered, placing both hands on her mouth as she snickered.

Throwing a pillow as Srettia, Michael smiled at his mom and continued his train of thought. "I'm doing well. I just got back and wanted to let you know I'll be dropping by soon for a visit. I just need to be debriefed, and I'll be on my way. Maybe a couple of days at most."

Mrs. Graeme smiled at the thought of her son visiting and bounced in place." Oh, that's fantastic news! I was upset when you stopped answering my calls, but then I saw on the news that you were the test pilot for that new FTL engine. I'm so proud of you and your achievements Michael! Do you need us to pick you up anywhere, spud?"

Michael chuckled and shook his head at the thought of his mother crashing into luna to pick him up for dinner. "No, mom, I'm on Luna right now, so you can't come to

How do you want to do this? A Discussion on Selective Rule Enforcement and the application of the "Rule of Cool"

Hello folks,

For my research analysis and writing class my professor let me pick any topic I want. (her mistake) So for my final term paper I chose to come up with a method of determining a guide to the use of the "rule of cool." I got a A on the paper so I figured I'd share it with you fine folks as well. It is rather lengthy so I've included the abstract first. The 8 tips for dungeon masters is near the end (third session), the first and second parts deal more with the philosophical and ethics of games. So, if situational ethics and a discussion on the Mechanics, Dynamics, and Aesthetics of Play are of use for you, be my guess.

I am a relatively new DM so I spent a long time researching and trying to absorb what would make me a "good DM". With that cavate please keep in mind I know next to nothing compared to a vast majority of the DMs here. I can think of no place better to have this paper peer-reviewed, picked apart and "rebutalled" to death than here. If you feel offended, challenged, or angry reading this... Please understand I am a moron borrowing the works and words of far smarter people. If you feel that "this is the WAY" again... I am a moron... so ... with out further ado.

#Abstract:

The choice to be a stringent rule-follower without leniency using fanatical legalism in a game can be a source of contention between someone acting as a referee and/or “Game Master” and players of a game. Likewise, to approach games with a sense of fanatical antinomianism, or to completely ignore the rules and simply let players do whatever they want, tends to offer no challenge, and or reason to play that specific game. Using ethical theory frameworks such as situational ethics, natural law, and utilitarianism this paper seeks find the philosophical principles of what moments are acceptable and actually beneficial to bend the rules of a game. As such, it is important to define games, briefly discuss why games are played, and roles rules have on games. The game Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition will be used as the principal example. With “rule for rules” established, seven tips on how to implement it this rule using advice and guidance from some of the most well known “Dungeon Masters” in the modern era will be provided.

Much of this paper relies on the works of Joseph Fletcher, Sheila Murphy; Benard Suits, Robin Hunicke, Marc LeBlanc, and Robert Zubek for the ethical and philosophical discussions around games. For the practical advice, it relies

The Pioneers In Animation Animation Essay

Animation has its roots in traditional art. Its evolution over the years has been facilitated by not only artists but also visionaries and technically skilled experts. Presented below are the noteworthy pioneers and their creations that helped animation reach unprecedented heights as we see today.

It was in 1895, three years after Emile Reynaud, inventor of the praxinoscope, an animation system using loops of 12 pictures, showed the first animated film in Theatre Optique system, devised by him, that two French brothers, Auguste and Louis Lumiere, presented the first authentic demonstration of what we now think of as cinema. Lumiere Brothers’ characters which were images of real people became a better alternative to the Emile Reynaud’s presentations of moving drawings. Georges Melies, a fantasy filmmaker- the maker of Voyage to the Moon (1902), was prided himself as ‘stage-illusionist’ and used the medium of cinema as a natural extension of his magical arts with their transformations, and mysterious disappearances. Many of the visual tricks employed in his fantasy film Voyage to Moon were achieved by ‘stopping the film’, altering the image and photographing the new scene. This later became one of the basic techniques of 3-D animation films. Hence, arguably, George could be termed as the first filmmaker to use Stop Action {or Stop Motion}.

Stuart Blackton, a Briton, is the pioneer in “Chalk Animation”. His work in Humorous Phases of Funny Faces”, made in 1906, is based essentially on line animation. It is commonly known that the first animated work on standard picture film was Humorous Phases of Funny Faces (1906) by Blackton. It features a cartoonist drawing faces on a chalkboard, with the faces apparently coming to life. Blackton’s process of drawing a picture, photographing it, rubbing a part of it out and then redrawing it was the most basic use of the stop-motion technique. Blackton, along with Albert E Smith, had employed stop motion photography to create wonderful effects in his 1907 live -action film ‘The Haunted Hotel’. He is credited with the making of the first stop motion puppet film ‘The Humpty Dumpty’.

British film maker Arthur Melbourne Cooper also claimed having made the first ever puppet animated film. Cooper is also perhaps the maker of the world’s first animated commercial film using stop -motion photography in his film ‘The Matches: An Appeal’, a film of ‘moving matchsticks’ produced way back in 1899. Copper’s other notable creation

Respect Mister Freeze (DC Animated Universe)

^(Spoilers to follow.)

#Mister Freeze

"Think of it, Batman: to never again walk on a summer's day, with the hot wind in your face and a warm hand to hold. Oh, yes. I'd kill for that."

Dr. Victor Fries was a cryogenic researcher. After his wife, Nora, contracted a deadly illness, Fries put her in a cryogenic chamber until a cure could be found. Following an accidental exposure to chemicals in his lab, he became unable to survive in normal temperatures without a special suit. After developing a gun that shoots a freezing beam, Fries - now going by the moniker Mr. Freeze - sought a cure for Nora’s disease, as well as revenge on the person responsible for his condition, by any means necessary.

  • BTAS = Batman: The Animated Series (includes The Adventures of Batman & Robin)
  • NBA = The New Batman Adventures
  • SubZero = Mr. Freeze: SubZero
  • GG = Gotham Girls
  • BB = Batman Beyond
  • JL = Justice League

Feats marked with an S require sound.

Overview of Suits

  • First suit: Technically his first two suits, but they are apparently identical. Freeze built it to regulate his body temperature. In addition, it has the benefit of tripling his strength ^S.
  • Second suit: Eventually, most of Freeze’s body wasted away, leaving him as a disembodied head. He constructed this new suit to replace his body.
  • Third suit: Decades in the future, Freeze’s mind is transferred into a new body. However, this body quickly became vulnerable to heat as well, leading him to don a new suit he had prepared. Rather than relying on the freeze gun, this suit can fire even more powerful ice blasts from its gauntlets.

This is the weapon Freeze uses in the present day, coupled with his first and second suits.

Pretty self explanatory. I want a book where the characters are LGBT but that isn’t the only thing going on in the story, preferably something with a little more adventure. Some examples would be the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan and Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith.

NMH3 Can Fix the NMH Open World "Problem"

Alright, so I'm currently replaying the series on the road to NMH3 and loving my time in NMH1s polarizing open world Santa Destroy. It's such a vividly realized little town full of fun characters despite the clear limitations of the wii, as it is infamously criticized for the bizzare interactions/crash-collision with pedestrians and other vehicles. This got me thinking, Grasshopper can actually solve this pretty well in NMH3!

Based on the Fu trailer, the octopus alien seemingly kills a ton of Santa Destroy citizens along with destroying the area. Only assuming here, but maybe these aliens go on some kind of killing spree and force the majority of surviving citizens to hide indoors and go into lockdown. I think this coencides well with the concept art released for the game showing a more desolate empty Santa Destroy and Motel. With the streets clear of people and cars, NMH's open world won't be distractingly plain anymore. The dev team won't have to worry about developing a massive open world with tons of moving people in it (as Suda has said on multiple accounts, they don't have the kind of money to do that kind of thing). Besides, the pedestrians and cars weren't essential to NMH1s open world, hell they can't even be interacted with.

I love the open world idea in NMH, and I just hope its full potential can be realized in this upcoming installment. All the major things should still be intact; Travis can visit Naomi's place, a gym, Area51, etc. Smaller things I'd like to see would be the return of Lovikov Ball hunting, as well as some sort of memorial tribute to Bishop at Beefhead Video (Hope someone at Grasshopper hears this!) Regardless, I just can't wait to traverse Santa Destroy once again as our favorite katana-weilding otaku. And while I know we're all probably gonna love his latest adventure (which is the only thing that matters), I want the game to be the best it could possibly be. Just my thoughts on something that was heavily criticized about my favorite game (NMH1), and how it might be avoided this time around.

Much love Assassins!

Interested in Shining Force? Welcome!

Welcome!

Shining Force is a sub-series of the Shining series, started by Camelot Software Planning (then Sonic! Software Planning) and Climax Entertainment in 1991, or 1992, depending on perception. Some might say the Shining Force games are every game with the term "Shining Force" in the title. Others consider it any game in the series that uses the tactics RPG system. Myself, and many others in the community (to my knowledge), use it to refer to all of the games released by Camelot Software Planning under the Shining name, which all take place in the same canon.

Whether you have played every game in the series, or have never heard of it before, you may learn a thing or two by reading this post. I hope by the end of it, you'll either be interested in picking up a game, or have simply gained further appreciation for this cult-classic of games.

About the Games

As mentioned, the core of this series are tactics RPGs, also known as tactical or strategy RPGs. Typically, there is a top-down or isometric view of a grid board, and the player controls many units in a large-scale battle. A series with recent prominence in the west is Fire Emblem, though it's been a staple in the genre since the release of the first game on the NES back in 1990. If you enjoy Fire Emblem, definitely consider trying out some Shining Force games.

The exceptions to this are Shining in the Darkness, Shining Wisdom, and Shining the Holy Ark. The first was actually the first game made in the series, and was a first-person dungeon-crawler where one lead a collective party. This is also called a blobber. The second was a poorly-received action-adventure game for the Saturn, think top-down Legend of Zelda. The third is a return to the blobber roots of the series, and was very well received.

Most games in the Shining Force series are known for their vibrant colors and somewhat whimsical, lighthearted tone, not dissimilar to Dragon Quest titles. There isn't often a ton of story or character depth, though I am making comparisons to games of recent decades, and am most familiar with Shining Force I. For it's time, it was more than sufficient (though it's translations can be a little rough). Additionally, if you know where to look, there's quite a bit of wo

Having grown up alongside so many male Jones in all walks of Human spaceborne life, she'd developed a downright impressive bullshit detector. To accompany that bullshit detector was a near endless store of patience and an unerring ability to track down the most ‘dangerous when forgotten' humans around. Film Theory: What is the Deadliest Pixar Movie?

Hello internet, and welcome to... not Film Theory.

I, for one, really loved MatPat's series on the Deadliest Disney Movie, as he calculated what Disney animated film had the biggest body count, and what the overall count was. I loved the series, and have been waiting patiently for a follow-up on deadliest Pixar film... that doesn't seem to be coming. Well, I got tired of waiting! Don't you worry about a thing, MatPat, because I did the hard work for you and did my calculations for which Pixar film is the deadliest. Now, unfortunately, this analysis won't include 2020's Onward, as I have not seen it due to all of the [Censored] virus issues. But the other 21 films are fair game, so it's time to determine which one is the deadliest, and what the total body count is for the entire Pixar library.

First though, like the Disney analysis, there are some ground rules, and with the Pixar films, things get a bit tricky. Like the Disney analysis, we will be drawing the line at sentience vs. non-sentience. So if an animal is anthropomorphized, lives in a world where animals are anthropomorphized, or acts as an intentionally-driven character, they count. Secondly, all deaths must happen during the runtime of the movie. Deaths that occur before or after the movie don’t qualify. for cases like Doc Hudson dying between Cars and Cars 2, we won’t count it because he did not die during the runtime of either film. The only exceptions are in the cases of flashbacks where we are explicitly shown a character dying. Next, we can only count deaths that are caused or acknowledged by the characters. Coco has a lot of dead characters as the movie takes place in the afterlife, but not everyone in the Land of the Dead qualifies; only characters that we see die before the Land of the Dead or characters that die the second death will count. On a similar note, several generations of people die during the Axiom’s 700-year voyage in Wall-E, but none of them will be counted as, not only are they not acknowledged by the characters, but are before the events of the film. But then there’s other issues, such as with Wall-E. Robots are destroyed and deactivated, so basically death, but do you count them since they’re machine, and never technically alive to begin with? If Wall-E or EVE died, you’d probably count it, wouldn’t you? So what does that mean for other machines like, say, the Omnidroids from The Incredibles? They’re machines too, and the film even shows the Omnidroid 10

Man, I thought I hadn't beaten many games this month, but when I was counting them on my Backloggery Memory Card, I was shocked to see 11 games beaten. Unfortunately, for the first time this year, I've given up on beating two games and honestly, I don't feel bad about it.

Distraint 2 (Steam)

I was trying to beat this game at the end of August, but I couldn’t get it finished. I bought this game way back when it first came out because I loved the original Distraint, but because of school and stuff, I didn't have the time to play it until this month. And wow, what a disappointment that was. Instead of having an actual plot like the first one, this is too busy trying so hard to be symbolic that it just felt like self-indulgent and almost made me fall asleep multiple times. Not helping that the ending kinda pissed me off for reasons that I can't explain without spoiling it.

Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (3DS)

Another game that I wanted to beat last month, but unlike Distraint 2, I didn't finish this because I was so bored with this. Technically, there's no end. But eventually, Isabelle gives you Town Facilities, and when I finished them all, there were credits, so I'm counting it. The game just went on and on, I enjoyed it when I first started because I had fun adding furniture and stuff to people's houses, but after an hour of the same thing, I was so done. But I just wanted it to be done, and I had fun with creating weird rooms, like a nightmarish office. Not recommended unless you love designing Animal Crossing homes, but for the $5 I spent on it, it was okay.

Dementium II HD (Steam)

God, this game sucks. I was so bored with this, and I only finished because I wanted another game beaten. The story was stupid, the music was awful, the combat was ridiculous, and it wasn't remotely scary. The only things that I liked in this were the enemy designs; they look awesome, and like they stepped right out of a Silent Hill game. Honestly, I don't have much else to say about the game, other than being vaguely interested in seeing how the first game was played on the DS, but not enough to spend $30 on a copy.

Another Lost Phone: Laura's Story (PC)

I got this game for free awhile back, and I still want my money back. Have you played Sara is Missing or Simulacra? Then you have already played this. It's just a rip-off of those games, but with horrid pacing. You get the chance to read every single text message on the phone, and it is super easy

Recruiting, Easy, Quick Money, Please Provide Info Below

When a company's called Will of The Dead (WotD from now on), anyone smart would probably stay far, far away from it.

But as you will notice throughout this post, I was (still am) a being filled to the brim with premium, top-quality homegrown organic idiocy, rivaling those typically displayed by horror movie protagonists.

"What's so strange about it?" Dusky scowled, huffing his cigarette and putting his legs on his table, "We're just helping the elderly, see? Not everyone's willing to carry out their often too strange wishes once they're gone. We're here to make sure they're carried through properly, for a fair price as well, if I say so myself, not that they'd care how much they had to pay anyway. They're dead."

The recruiting manager of the company was definitely a strange man; his every remark was carried out with quick wit, but also tinged by jaded sarcasm, as if he'd gone through the routine a million times. Another day, another gullible, desperate man looking to make quick money.

"So I just take whichever case I want?" I scrolled through the company page on the phone they just gave me, the company logo of a smiling angel cartoon holding a cardboard box staring right into my soul. There were thousands of entries, each with details regarding the clients and their needs.

"Yes," Dusky said, "Try to click it. You do own a smartphone? I hear not everyone does these days. Anyway, here, see, you can see the rewards we're offering once you've completed the request. But some may not be suitable for you. Ugh, like this one, 'Take Care of My Cat', or 'Deliver Flower on My Wife's and Children's Birthdays'. These usually offer you monthly payment, but binds you to a long term contract, see?"

"And 'Delete My Internet History' will seriously net me two hundred bucks?" I scoffed cynically.

"Ah, yes, we do have some of those, especially from the younger, impulse-fueled, prohibitionally-disabled clients trying to be funny. You might be surprised, though, it's often quite a hassle to get access to a dead person's gadgets or computers."

"I see. Most of these are very doable, though, I think I might try it after all."

Dusky smiled and shook my hand. He knew he's got me, and damn did he get me good.

I started out nice and easy with a shit-ton of 'Deliver a Letter', feeling like I was a level one adventurer starting out in the fantasy world that was the outside of my bedroom. Just gotta pick 'em up from the company and mail 'em. Couldn't believe they wouldn't just

Fixing Movie Licensed Video Games

In Raycevick's excellent video on Ghost in the Shell video games, Shirow Masamune's quote struck me.

> The manga of The Ghost In The Shell did not place importance on its sustainability as a series because it is faithful to the idea that works in different media, be it film, TV series, manga or novel, should each be optimized to its own art form.

I feel like this captures the reason why most movie-licensed games suck.

Ghostbusters is about some ordinary guys establishing the business of ghost huntings, making their own equipment, hiring guys, and taking requests from people whose home is infested with ghosts. But the game they made was just a Gears of War clone when XCOM style game would have worked wonderfully.

Harry Potter is about a mystery set in the magic school with the heavy emphasis on the social interactions with various factions with different motives. The games were just Zelda clones and later, Gears of War clones when something like Bully with the roleplaying mechanics would be appropriate.

Mad Max is basically Shane (1953) set in the nuclear apocalyptic wasteland with the heavy emphasis on the car action and the survival theme. The game got the car action right, but there was zero survival element. There was no game equivalent of Max desperately trying to find a tiny amount of gasoline from the crashed car right after the exciting car chase. but only adding the awkward attempt at mimicking the combat of Arkham games when it should have been S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Fallout with cars.

All these games followed the trend in the gaming industry of its time with the added surface level of visual and story flavor of the source material instead of truly optimizing the spirit into the interactive art form. It is similar to how video game movies suffer from the same problem.

So I wanted to share my thoughts about fixing them and what would be the ideal movie-licensed video game for each movie franchise. All these franchises had some sort of video games, some were good but mostly bad.

  • Star Wars

EA era Star Wars games have been not so good, and among all the canceled projects, only AAA Star Wars games they have published so far is Battlefront. Such a shame because as Lucasarts era Star Wars proved, Star Wars is capable of more.

Canceling Boba Fett movie was a wise decision, but the idea could work beautifully as a third person bounty hunter open-worl

#Maleficent, Mistress of All Evil

"Now shall you deal with me, o Prince! And all the powers of Hell!"

Born in the Fairylands and abandoned in a hollow tree occupied by crows, Maleficent, named by the fairies after the malice they felt radiating off of her, was feared by her peers. She lacked the natural characteristics of fairies, having no wings or pleasant features, instead cursed with sharp features, an evil aura, and horns. The fairies left her to the crows, evil creatures in fairy folklore, who raised the girl, stealing food for her to eat and clothes for her to wear. This all changed when one of the most powerful fairies in the world, Nanny, The One of Legends, sister of the Fairy Godmother, returned to her homeland and took Maleficent in out of the kindness in her heart. Upon Nanny's urging, Maleficent enrolled in the fairy school, learning magic at an astonishing rate. When a misunderstanding at her graduation ceremony, also her 16th birthday, resulted in harm coming to her beloved family of crows, she went on a rampage, destroying the Fairylands. When she eventually calmed down, years later, she was given a spell by a trio of witches who were her close friends, a spell that would allow her to have a child. She gave all of her good qualities to her daughter, Aurora. However, this robbed Maleficent of all of her goodness, turning her into the Mistress of All Evil we know today. The child was given to the Good Fairies, who in turn gave her to King Stefan and Queen Leah, and the rest is history.

Need Some Critiques

Hello! I'm Joaquin Arcino, or Eos if you want my internet name. As it says in the description of my profile, I'm fourteen, neurodivergent, and enjoy science fantasy. Anyway, I'll get to the story in a moment, but I have to provide some context:

In sixth grade, I created an idea for a story, that was then called Invasion of the Triangulans. It was bad. VERY bad. I cannot express how absolutely AWFUL it was without having an aneurysm. Since that day, for the past five years, I have been working, drafting, and constructing that story. And it has become something bigger. It has become a part of a world called The Multiverse - and paired with a to-be seven-book series called The Multiverse Theory. Now, The Multiverse Theory's first book, Awakening of the Shadows, has been a real thing that I'm working on since July 2018, and I've written quite a lot, but right now I'm focusing on editing and refining and redrawing the whole story map. So, I'll post that here once I have the first chapter rebuilt. For now, I'd like to post a little bit of lore that I created a week ago. This is the lore detailing the start of The Multiverse - as in, explaining how my gods and my Dragons work.

So, here you all go. The War of Fang and Fire, as it's called.

(I'm not one to get mad at criticism so roast the shit out of me if you want, I don't care, as long as it's actually good feedback)

MULTIVERSAL HISTORY PROFILE

WAR OF FANG AND FIRE

Chapter One

Rise of the Elder Gods

In the beginning, there were five.

Five. Of Laws, of Thought. Of Spells. Of Time, and lastly of All. They called themselves but the first word in their heads. Scientia, of Physics. Cogitarum, of Thought. Astrum, of Magic. Tempus, of the Streams. And Infinitas, of Reality itself.

These words became the first aspects of the language soon to be rapidly developed by the immense computing power of Cogitarum's mind: Eldest, version one. It was nascent - nothing comparable to the revered tongue spoken only by the most ancient and powerful beings in the Multiverse as it is today, in its fifth and final version. But it was enough. Enough to begin.

At this point, there was only one Plane, and even that was hardly anything compared to its existence now. This Plane was known simply as the Rift; for it was the original tear through space-time forged of Paracausal energy that gave roots to our Multiverse. They emerged from it to find themselves immersed in an ocean of raw Paracausa

Samuro – Character, Abilities and Quotes Lore

>Before falling to demonic corruption, the Burning Blade clan was known for its deadly orcish blademasters. Samuro was the last to wear the clan's banner, swearing allegiance to neither the Legion nor the Horde. Instead, he has embarked on a warrior's pilgrimage to restore the honor of the Burning Blade and claim vengeance in their name.

>— Samuro Spotlight - Heroes of the Storm

Throm'ka! Today's post will cover a hero who doesn't have too much to him in terms of lore, but who nonetheless features many callbacks to one of Warcraft III's most memorable units: Samuro, blademaster of the Burning Blade clan, who played a small but vital role in safeguarding the orcs' new homeland of Durotar.

For official information on Samuro, see the hero spotlight, Hero Week, and Building the Nexus episode.

All previous lore posts

######Legend of the Burning Blade

To fully understand Samuro, one must first discuss his clan and blademasters in general.

The Burning Blade clan was one of many diverse orc clans that dwelled on the orcish homeworld of Draenor. Dwelling in the eastern plains of Nagrand, a land they shared with the Warsongs, as well as in the fertile forests of Talador (later called Terokkar Forest), which they shared with the Bladewinds and Redwalkers, the clan's ancestral home was a village known as Hallvalor (later reduced to the Burning Blade Ruins). The Burning Blade were renowned far and wide for their honor in battle and, most of all, for their deadly blademasters - extremely skilled swordsmen with numerous mystical abilities who, despite being masters of stealth and guile, valued personal honor above all else. Once a Burning Blade blademaster had passed his final tests, he was given the honor of wearing his clan's banner into battle.

Like most orc clans, the Burning Blade joined the demon-corrupted Old Horde and participated in numerous battles, including the orcs' initial invasion of Azeroth. Little is known about what transpired within the clan during this time, but by the time of the Second War, these once-honorable orcs had been reduced to little more than a leaderless, nomadic band of demon-worshipping warriors seeking only to raze and plund

Outside the Manual: Beasts

>Long ago, the great Frith made the world. He made all the stars and the world lived among the stars. Frith made all the animals and birds and, at first, made them all the same. Now, among the animals was El-Ahrairah, the Prince of Rabbits. He had many friends and they all ate grass together. But after a time, the rabbits wandered everywhere, multiplying and eating as they went. Then Frith said to El-Ahrairah, "Prince Rabbit, if you cannot control your people, I shall find ways to control them." But El-Ahrairah would not listen and said to Frith, "My people are the strongest in the world." This angered Frith, so he determined to get the better of El-Ahrairah. He gave a present to every animal and bird, making each one different from the rest. When the fox came and others, like the dog and cat, hawk and weasel, to each of them, Frith gave a fierce desire to hunt and slay the children of El-Ahrairah.

>-Watership Down by Richard Adams-

When I was little, we had guinea pigs. I was never good with animals. I never knew how to handle or take care of them. I eventually didn't want to hurt or mistreat any of them. Especially big ones like big dogs or horses and cows. I had to take care of my sister's pet goldfish while she was away, even though it was 16 years old (and a bit of a douche towards other fish), it died right after I watched my first horror movie. I knew that I couldn't handle animals ever since.

A friend of mine is a dog lover. He always took his dog (and mostly me) for a walk next to a meadow. He told me that big dogs are actually the ones you should be the least afraid of. If they are properly trained, they don't feel the need to be aggressive. Big ones don't need to compensate for their height, so they don't keep barking and barking to seem tough. This friend of mine told me to pet the horses sometimes 'to show them respect'. I never got that. I show respect by not being all touchy-feely with anyone. (Something with 'incentives'.) However, my ex-girlfriend used to squeal for any animal she saw. To her, anything was cute. Bunnies, Pomeranians, playful dogs, cats, parrots, and even horses. I was indifferent about those. They didn't affect me that strongly. Neither did spiders, but that's where she showed a completely different reaction. Still, she showed me what it means to appreciate animals for what they are, and with that, knowing what it means to show respect.

Respect Michael Myers

Respect Michael Myers, The Shape

Michael Myers' leitmotif

"I prayed that he would burn in hell, but in my heart I knew that hell would not have him"

Important: In case you're confused here's a diagram of the various Halloween timelines. As the Green Reboot/Final Timeline ignores Halloween 2 (1981) I will separate the two movies this time around. So in case you're wondering, this means that any feat in Halloween (1978) applies to Myers in Halloween (2018), the H20 timeline, or the Thorn timeline. But Halloween 2 (1981) only applies to H20 and Thorn Michael

Disclaimer: As Halloween (2018) is not out yet I can't include any of its feats. When it gets a proper release I'll update the RT accordingly

As a warning, the following RT is NSFW. It contain blood, gore, violence, and nudity

Age: 21 (Halloween 1 & 2), 29 (Zombie Reboot), 38 (Halloween 6), 45 (Resurrection), 61 (Green Reboot)

Original Halloween Family: Peter Myers (father), Edith Myers (mother), Judith Myers (sister), Laurie Strode (sister/Final Timeline implies that they are not related however)

H20 Family: Laurie Strode (sister), John Tate (nephew)

Thorn Timeline: Laurie Strode, Jamie Lloyd (niece), Steven Llyod (great-nephew or son depending on the version), Murphey Myers (ancestor)

Reboot Halloween: Deborah Myers (mother), Judith Myers (sister), Laurie Strode (sister)

Allies: the closest one would be the Cult of the Thorn in the Thorn timeline but they're not really allies

Enemies: Dr Loomis, children, his family, everyone else

Halloween 1

Appearance: Child and Adult

Michael Myers was a disturbed child that killed his older sister at the age of six. Described many times over by Dr Loomis as pure evil and hatred. He waited in his insane A

[x-post from onebag]Can you help me choose an all-purpose ventilated backpack?

Ive made a broad selection of bags and need help choosing. This sub is probably more focused on hiking/survival. I'm looking for a bag to fit everything I own and allows me to run/bike and travel light.

Activities:

  • Long term travel
  • Bike commute
  • Daypack
  • Hiking
  • Running (hopefully some adventure racing in the future)

Requirements

  • Ventilated back to hopefully keep down sweating when commuting and traveling
  • Hip band to better distribute weight and keep the bag from moving around when running
  • Chest strap to keep the pack tight on my back when running
  • Compression system to keep things from moving around in the pack and to make it smaller for everyday use
  • Light weight to keep weight down when running/hiking
  • Somewhat fashionable to not look too out of place in urban environments
  • Big enough to hold every essential item I own
  • Fits carryon requirements for air travel
  • Durable enough to last a while with normal use packed at around 10-12Kg

Preferred: I live in the EU and would like a bag manufactured somewhat locally but it's way behind on the priority list. A hydration bladder might be nice but certainly could do without.

Pack list

Tablet, phone, watch, heartrate monitor, journal, wallet, toilet bag, micro towel, first aid, travel mug, softbottle, mini waterfilter, spork, headlamp, jacket, jeans, soft shell, shorts x2, tshirt x2, shirt, boxers x3, socks x3, trail runners, flip flops.

Optional items

Lightweight hammock, tarp, guilt, slackline (primitive, 2kg), coffee filter, knife, thermal gear, misc outdoor.

Concept

I want to have a bag I can live out off forever that I can also run/bike with comfortably. I want to be as mobile as possible while carrying everything I own.

So tonight ended with the big news of Alisson’s world record move to Liverpool. What will tomorrow bring in the wonderful world of transfers?

Join us again at 7am to find out! Until then, enjoy the rest of your evening!

#LIVERPOOL SIGN ALISSON FOR RECORD FEE

Alisson Becker has officially joined Liverpool from Roma in a deal that makes him the world's most expensive goalkeeper.

Sky Sports News understands that Liverpool have paid £67m for the 25-year-old, who has signed a "long-term" contract at Anfield.

It surpasses the £34.7m Manchester City paid in 2017 to sign Ederson, Alisson's understudy for Brazil.

#KLOPP PRAISES ALISSON

There’s even more from Jurgen Klopp, who praised Alisson’s all-round quality…

“The full package is just good,” Klopp added. “How we all do, he needs to adapt to the English Premier League, that’s how it is. The league is different, the refs are different, the goalkeeper life is different in the Premier League.

“But that’s not important now because again, we got him here because of his existing strengths, which is in all goalkeeper departments the highest level. But of course he still has to adapt and age-wise he can improve, the best years are coming in the goalkeeper life, so it’s all good.”

#MORE FROM KLOPP...

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said of the deal to sign Alisson...

What existing IP would you want made into an cinematic adventure game?

TellTale's frequent work with other francises like The Walking Dead and Game Of Thrones made me wonder what other IP would be worth making an adventure game off of.

Your answer doesn't have to hypothetically be made by TellTale, it could be another company too.

I would be excited if there were a Heroes adventure game. You know, the serious TV show where people had superpowers like time travel and cutting off the top of people's heads? Would be a good fit, since it's suspenseful and the characters needed to be smart about their powers.

Also a good candidate would be the Monogatari series, which includes Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari. While the cinematic elements can be cherry picked from the series' colorful and seemingly schizophrenic animation/jump-cuts, the characters talk alot. And I DO MEAN ALOT. In fact, sometimes you have a single conversation take up an entire 30 minutes. Which would be fine, since that means sticking to the source material means you have an excuse to have tons of dialogue options. Monogatari is a pretty weird anime, despite the simple premise of a high school boy helping other girls with supernatural problems. So ideally a weird Japanese developer would be a fitting partner. Might I suggest Grasshopper Manufacturer? Or maybe have Hideo Kojima direct it after The Phantom Pain, since he makes really chatty characters. Or both, that would be a match made in heaven.

Forgotten Villains of the Golden Age: OGGAR, "The World's Mightiest Immortal"

Forgotten Villains of the Golden Age: OGGAR

http://i.imgur.com/xRKAf76.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/dbD7NbH.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/fmbWbCY.jpg

This guy cracks me up for a number of reasons. Despite his vast powers and his evil scheme to turn the world back to ancient times (with the return of slavery and brutal empires), he just doesn't get anywhere. Nothing goes right for him, least of all his ongoing struggle with Captain Marvel.

And that brings up one of my favorite scenes in Golden Age comics. Oggar has vast magical powers but he can only perform each deed once. ("Magic, send my enemy to the North Pole. No, I used that already.") He also has one fatal weakness, but neither he nor anyone else knows what it is. So Cap has to keep trying different attacks like rabbit punches or pulling Oggar's hair. ("Still no good. I'll try tweaking his nose?" "Owwww!" says Oggar.) Hopelessly confused, both he and Captain Marvel start carrying little notebooks around with them to keep track of what they've already done. So we see these two mighty beings with godlike powers standing face to face, searching frantically through their little notebooks to see what to try next.

The original Captain Marvel wasn't always whacky. There were plenty of completely serious and suspenseful stories (and after 1950, strong horror elements came in). But what made the series so popular was the whimsical element which made Cap so human. He had the full range of normal emotions and reactions that anyone might feel. It also reminded us that these were "comic" books and not Pulitzer Prize material.

Anyway, Oggar only appeared in a six-part serial which began in CAPTAIN MARVEL ADVENTURES# 61 (May 1946). The backstory was that thousands of years ago, Oggar was one of the odd mix of Greek gods and heroes (and one Biblical king!) that an old Egyptian wizard had assembled somehow and taken the name Shazam using the initials of their names. Except his name was initially Shazamo. After Oggar turned bad and tried to take over, Shazamo banished it from the pantheon and dropped the "O" from his own name (just as well, "Shazamo" sounds like a circus clown). We see Shazam (okay, Shazamo bluntly giving orders to the six of his pantheon, but this is from Oggar's viewpoint. I can see these beings agreeing to grant powers to a mortal as some sort of deal, but anyone ordering Zeus around...? Not gonna happen.)

Oggar went about his business for two thousand years or so, waiting until the pantheon were e

[WSIB] JRPGs and other quirky Japanese games

Usually I fill my gaming library with JRPGs and quirky Japanese games. Especially if it excels well in its story and aesthetics. As my library of games fills up with unusual titles, I wanna make sure I'm not any worthwhile games slip through the cracks. I don't have a PS4, XBONE, or Wii U, and there are hardly PC games that catch my eye. So I plan on focusing on collecting from the backlogs of previous systems for those hidden games. My shelf is full of unusual hits from Valkyria Chronicles to Asura's Wrath. Alot of those fall under the radar, but the popular exceptions I have that everyone knows are games from Metal Gear and Final Fantasy.

So guys, any other games you could point me out to?

Criteria for the games I look for

  • Playable on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation TV, Nintendo Wii, & PC
  • Single-player
  • An unusual hook in it's narrative, aesthetics, and/or gameplay
  • Bonus points if its a JRPG, action/adventure, or some genre-bending game

Some of my favorite games to give you an idea on my taste

  • All of Clover Studios/Platinum Games' titles
  • All of Grasshopper Manufacturer's titles
  • All of Vanillaware's titles
  • All of CyberConnect2's titles except for Naruto
  • Final Fantasy series
  • Metal Gear Solid series
  • Persona series
  • DanganRonpa series
  • Drakengard & Nier series

Games I'm thinking of getting...

  • Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD
  • Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed
  • Katamari Damacy
  • Eternal Sonata
  • Hatsune Miku Project Diva F 2nd
  • Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus
  • Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix

Upcoming games I'm waiting for

  • Persona 5
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
  • Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart
  • Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed

How do you want to do this? A Discussion on Selective Rule Enforcement

I am a moron... so ... with out further ado..

For the practical advice, it relies primari
