Guilty pleasure: badass, dangerous male protagonist ( can be a graphic novel, novel or thread story. )

I really enjoy reading about badass, smart and over powered MC's who take their worlds by storm. Looking for new books as I've been through most of the more often recommended ones like:

Prince of thorns, kingkiller, dresden, first law, nightside, forgotten conqueror, Conan, fimbulwinter, gemmel, kings dark tidings, demon cycle, e.t.c.

So i would really appreciate something new, don't even mind self promotion as far it's in line with what am looking for, thanks in advance!

Ps: please no harems, 99% of the time they turn out to be utter nonsense.

Are there any comic books/graphic novels/novels/movies where superheroes just talk and have conversations?

I'm talking about superheroes chilling out, maybe in a bar, going for a walk, discussing their lives, exchanging stories, ideology, philosophies.......kind of like "My dinner with Andre", "Before sunrise/sunset/midnight" kind of stuff.

Like in Age of Ultron- the party scene, or the talk between thor-cap-tony at the end of the same movie, pondering over whether an elevator is worthy or not.

Not just limited to Dc or marvel. Can be anything. Long-drawn out conversations, spanning the entirety of the novel/comic.

any suggestions?

Locke and Key Netflix adaption is to begin filming in February, what other horror graphic novels, novels, short stories, ect. would you liked to see adapted to the big or silver screen?

Speaking only on graphic novels I would love to see an apation of some sort of Charles Burn's "Black Hole" or if there was a show version of "Wytches" by Synder and Jock with a visual style that incorporates the books water color splashes and expands on the world that Synder created, but Plan B has the film rights to that one, so I won't hold my breath. What else would you guys like to see?

Going Through the Whole Cosmere Verse - White Sand Graphic Novel/Novel

Hi all - I’m doing my first read through of all the Cosmere. I’m wondering if I should get the White Sand Graphic Novels or of the version in Arcanum Unbounded is sufficient. Are they the same story in different mediums? Should I go through the graphic novels as well?

YA Graphic novel/novel hybrid about kids fighting and being watched like a tv show

SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED The book was parts comic graphic novel and other parts pure text about (1 or 2) main characters that were being watched with loads of other peers their age, roughly teen, on security cameras for tv. They didn’t always fight each other, pretty sure there were monsters and stuff too. The book itself was hard cover red with a pop out skull on it, and I believe it was in a series? Read it between 2008/14 (sorry it’s so vague, it was when I used to chain read and it just blends together) Age range was definitely YA

Novel where there's a graphic novel that's kidnapping the kids who read it. Switches between the outside world (in normal text) and the graphic novel world (in comic book style). Hell related graphic novels?

Hi gang,

I'm beginning a writing piece on the nature of Hell as it relates to fictitious accounts and science fiction. Aside from Constantine and Spawn, what are some cool graphic novels, novels, and other literature I can read to brush up on my Hell themed lore?

I'm just looking for different perspectives on how authors have portrayed Hell and the demons who reside there.

Graduation: Graphic Novel Edition

Considering the success of the Balance graphic novels, I think it's pretty likely that Amnesty is going to get a series as well (and I personally think Amnesty would make a rad graphic novel, and is a naturally better fit for the medium than Balance).

This, of course, begs the question: will there be a Grad graphic novel? I guessing probably not, for a couple of reasons (popularity, the complete lack of a coherent narrative, no intuitive 'chapters' to break it up into, etc), but the thought does intrigue me.

As we see in the Balance novels, they've taken the chance to tighten up the story a little bit, adding some foreshadowing that couldn't have existed on the show and cutting extraneous characters and scenes (like the ogre test on the moon base).

So, if you had to 'tighten up' the story (and I use 'story' very loosely here) of TAZ: Graduation for the graphic novel, how do you think is the best way to do it?

Round One: The same basic story structure has to be followed, with minimal changes to structure, cutting of characters, etc to make it a passable narrative.

Round Two: Complete narrative overhaul. Anything goes, just make a good graphic novel out of the bones of Grad.

Graphic novel regrets?

We see weekly, monthly hauls on this sub all the time. Anybody ever get a GN they just couldn't stand after reading, rereading, meditating and said,"nah this ain't for my collection"?

Recently was recommended invisible kingdom (not to be confused with invisible republic which is awesome) and infinite dark. I was able to return infinite dark and just tossed invisible kingdom (which I may do with infinite dark cuz even amazon didn't want them back and gave me a refund). I wish these had better editors if that is still a job for comic books cuz the writing was painful to pull myself through.

I almost wanted to save them for teaching purposes as examples of what you can get away with or be rewarded for.
