Some gimlet podcasts have missing episodes on podcasts players outside of Spotify. I opened the podcasts with multiple players and they all had the same missing episodes (Google Podcasts, Overcast, Pocketcasts)
Homecoming: Missing all episodes but the first. (1. MANDATORY)
The Two Princes: The entire second and third season is missing.
Is Spotify now stripping away episodes for alternative podcast players?

Just like the title suggests, in a very competitive media and content space, what made these two companies so successful in media? I understand both companies had connection to VCs and industry wide connections. Alex started off in radio and was the producer for βThe American Lifeβ and βPlanet Moneyβ (and his βStartupβ podcast does highlight how he got to starting a company) while Herman was a long time executive at then-21st Century Fox running the Fox international channels. Despite all the funding from these big people, what made their companies standout for so long and gain the audience they needed?
This is the closest thing I've found to a pan-galactic gargle blaster, the imbibing of which is described in every version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy as:
>"having your brains smashed out by a slice of lemon wrapped round a large gold brick."
Really, much more pleasant than it sounds.
There are of course other recipes. Most I can't imagine ever making at home, so considering the effort to reward of this version, this will probably be the closest I'll ever come to drinking a "real" Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster, and I am very much at peace with this.
Earl Grey Gimlet
Make Earl Grey simple syrup.
Make 1 cup (measure) of strong Earl Grey tea. 2 tea bags seeped in 1 cup boiling water for 6 minutes is about right. Put tea in a sauce pan, add 1 cup sugar, stir under low heat until sugar dissolves. Remove from heat immediately. Let cool, bottle and refrigerate.
Stir over ice:
2 oz. Gin
1 oz. Lemon juice
1 oz. Earl Grey simple syrup
I usually drink from a martini glass, but you do you.
She reveals some interesting bits about their strategy, including a growing focus on exclusivity within the Spotify ecosystem.
I'm way late to the game here but I only started listening to Startup during the pandemic. It was so interesting to get all that info after having listened to every Reply All episode and I was sad I didn't know about it sooner. I like Gimlet and think they do a good job being transparent (or did back in season one and two anyway), but the episodes about diversity were....so white. They were doing okay when they were talking to the POC at the company, but then they go to that one guy who talks about being a minority because he's an evangelical Christian and no one else is. The episode then focuses on him, and then later he gets a season to focus on a church startup (??????).
It felt like Gimlet doesn't get diversity AT ALL, and still wants to focus on white men feeling left out more so than the actual employees of color they have. It's like Black people are accent pieces, decoration to show a badge of wokeness. Christians aren't a fucking minority in America and I stopped listening to Startup on the church season because uh, religion is actively horrible and responsible for many atrocities. I really can't believe that such otherwise smart people think evangelicals are persecuted or even under represented.
Anyone else feel the same way back when you listened?
Playback is like having words deleted in the edit. Having the problem only with Gimlet shows. Is really annoying. Is the same on both downloads and stream directly from site. Not experiencing this problem with other shows, only from Gimlet.
Has anyone else listened to the Gimlet series called Start Up? It had to be one of my favorite podcast series. Just curious what some of you think!?
