Meaning of "Noisetiers" in the Context of Weather Forecasting {Méteo}

Merci.

I watch BFMTV's Roku Channel, which basically repeats the same "headlines" every three minutes but also includes the weather. BFM has "channels" on the app in four regions--Paris, "Grand" Lille, "Grand Littoral," and Lyon.

On the latter three, the word "noisetier" (hazelnut) frequently appears and just appeared again as I post this. I tried to find a colloquial meaning but have been unable.

(If anyone can also explain why Lille is called "Grand" and what geographical region exactly is covered by "Grand Littoral," I would also appreciate knowing those "definitions."

Thank you.

How to maximize your income in mental health

There have been many posts lately (and not lately) lamenting the earning potential of our field with regard to the time and expense of our training. While there is definitely some truth to this, I’ve been able to reach an income level beyond what I was told would be possible in our field and I’m only 4 1/2 years post licensure. I thought it may be helpful if I shared my strategies for doing so.

Note: These strategies are generally based on the assumption that you work for someone and that you take insurance. If not, they may be less useful.

Know Your Codes

You have to understand the business side of your profession if you want to increase your earnings. You can’t just show up, see clients, go home, and expect to be paid the maximum amount.

Start by studying the definitions of every code you might use in your job. Know the exact timeframes of the various individual therapy codes. Study the add on codes like crisis therapy and interactive complexity. You should be able to articulate the definition of every service you provide from a billing standpoint. If you’re a psychologist you also need to understand the testing codes. Keep up to date on how the codes are defined as they tend to change every few years.

Once you know the codes themselves you need to learn their relative values. This is more difficult as it can vary by region and by individual insurance companies within your region. It also isn’t information this is typically publicly available. There are a few ways you can try to access it. I’ve often had success simply requesting a reimbursement matrix from my employer. This is a spreadsheet that delineates payment by insurance by billing code. It also often contains estimates of what portion of your caseload has what insurance. If you aren’t able to get this from your employer, you could reach out to local colleagues who have their own practices or call the provider relations liaison for the companies themselves. There can be subtle variations in reimbursement based on variables like degree and facility type, but you only need a rough estimate.

Understand the differences in reimbursement between codes. The difference between a 52 minute therapy sessions and a 53 minute therapy session is around $50. The difference between billing your first visit as a diagnostic interview rather than therapy is around $100.

Know Your Value

With the aforementioned information, you will have a rough sense of the dollar value of the services you provide. You can us

Log Horizon Seasons 1-2 Recap/Primer (Anime-Only)

Log Horizon season 3 is about to start, and if you're like me you do not at all remember everything that happened in seasons 1 and 2. Well, I didn't want to risk getting spoiled from reading wikis, so I binge-rewatched the first two seasons this past weekend and took a ton of notes so I can share with anyone else needing a reminder or ten.

This is certified 100% anime-only content meant specifically for anime viewers. I haven't even glanced at the light novels or wiki. Fans who have read the novels, this is NOT the place for you to chime in with "clarifications" and "by the ways". This place is for anime-only viewers, most of whom do not want to know the slightest bit of what happens next so we can experience it ourselves. I and the people in this thread do not give a rat-man's ass about some novel exposition from volume 2 that the anime skipped over in season 1 - go make your own thread if you are compelled to share that information.

This post is almost certainly going to hit the character limit, so I'm not going to summarize every major character or every plotline from the first two seasons. I could never hope to outline every major character's arc and development over 50 episodes in that few characters. Instead, I am only going to focus on the rules of the world and the plotlines that were still ongoing/unresolved at the end of season 2 - in other words, what I think you may need to know heading into season 3. Even if you don't remember them well, I'm sure you'll pick up the interdynamics of all these goofballs well enough just from seeing them in action again.

Basics

  • Elder Tale was a MMORPG that a bunch of people played. One day, everyone who was logged on got transported into a world that resembles the game. This event is now known as The Apocalypse.
  • Elder Tale's setting was called Theldesia. Geographically, it is the same land/ocean layout as the real Earth, but half as large.
  • When it was just a MMORPG, the game had 13 different servers, separated by region. If your character was in Theldesia's equivalent of Japan, you'd be playing on the Japanese server, and in order to travel to Theldesia's equivalent of Australia you'd have to switch to the Australian server. Most players played on the server corresponding to their region.

I believe TESVI will most likely be set in Hammerfell exclusively, and here is why.

Examining all known facts on where TES VI might take place, I came to the two main conclusions regarding the setting of TESVI:

The first: There's a higher chance of the game being set in Hammerfell rather than High Rock (which is pretty popular opinion in the community).

The second: The game will not likely be set in both Hammerfell and High Rock (but instead solely in Hammerfell). The reason for this being Bethesda's TES formula: one nation - one national hero as a protagonist, and the unique vibe of the province.

The first point or conclusion I mentioned in the very beginning is fairly obvious. The Hammerfell's culture (despite my love for High Rock and Bretons' history and lore) is definitely superb in terms of the richness of its religion and culture and also has a pretty epic history. Which makes Hammerfell much better setting for the next TES game (at least for Bethesda), coming out of cold and snowy, even though no less epic in terms of lore, Skyrim.

The Second conclusion is the reason why I essentially write all this. First of all, based on the Todd Howard's interviews and other pieces of evidence (which I will not cite here for the sake of not making this post too long), Bethesda Game Studios is currently able to make TESVI taking place in both High Rock and Hammerfell, with both provinces being about the size of Skyrim, meaning two times TESV. (And I believe that the majority of the community agrees with that).

So, under the assumption that Bethesda can technically make TESVI set in the two provinces, I believe that the chance of them actually doing that is pretty slim.

And the primary reason for that is the way Bethesda approaches the creation of the game world. I believe that when making a new game Bethesda Game Studios first establishes the tone and atmosphere of their storytelling, which is expressed in the entirety of the game not exclusively by the dialogues and questlines, but by the world itself. So when making the new TES game, Bethesda will focus on this certain vibe they want player to feel, and center the entirety of the systems and story around that. At E3 2018 Geoff Keighley interview, when asked about TESVI/Starfield teasers, Todd Howard said: "The teasers that we put out, they: a) announcing the game, and b) the ones of tone. So, how does the game feel?...". (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-3X04jwJ0U&t=4m30s) Similar kind of approach

The EDS Toolkit, the RCGP and RCPCH, the AHEAD Coalition, the International Consortium, child abuse, FII/Munchausen's by proxy and the 2021 diagnostic criteria (long)

EDIT: TL;DR is up in the comment thread, it won't fit in the post itself due to the post character limit.

If you didn’t catch the EDS Toolkit incident that happened last month, the EDS Toolkit was going to be taken down by the RCGP but after a fairly minor campaign against the decision it got a reprieve of 6 months.

In summary, paediatricians from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health raised concerns about the contents of the EDS Toolkit in the summer of 2020, and in response, the Royal College of GPs considered 'all options' and concluded that a full review was required. However, due to the pandemic they didn’t have the time and resources necessary to carry it out, and so could no longer host the Toolkit and would take it down at the end of January 2021. They didn’t discuss this with EDS-UK or the makers of the Toolkit before making their decision. You can read more at the first 3 links below.

Relevantly, back in October 2020 the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health published a position statement on hEDS/HSD diagnosis’ in children and adolescents. The (fairly short) statement can be read at the fourth link below, but most notably it says:

‘In some young people persistent pain, with or without joint laxity or disease, leads to other disabling symptoms including sleeplessness, anxiety, reduced mobility/deconditioning, altered bowel habit, profound dizziness, nausea, blurred vision and hypersensitivity (sound, light and touch). (...) Implications for practice:

Paediatricians and adolescent physicians should use the current EDS2017 criteria to correctly diagnose hEDS (pages 17-19).

Health professionals and families should be advised that there is no clear collagen or other connective tissue abnormality underlying hEDS.

Understand that persistent musculoskeletal pain (with or without joint laxity) is known to be associated with other symptoms and signs (including altered bowel habit, profound dizziness, nausea, anxiety, blurred vision and hypersensitivity).

Clinical findings including fractures, retinal haemorrhages and extensive bruising cannot, as evidence currently stands, be attributed to hEDS. These must be investigated further to exclude other diagnoses and ensure that children are safeguarded.

All children and adolescents with hEDS, where symptoms are significant, should receive early multidisciplinary assessment and therapy within a paediatric/adolescent rehabilitative setting which encourages mobility and normal functi

Trump and Republicans launch unprecedented efforts to sabotage Biden's administration

Not only did President Trump’s administration delay the transition, his administration and Congressional Republicans have launched efforts to sabotage the economy, light foreign policy fires, and cement harmful regulations before Biden takes office.

Note: This list is not exhaustive. Particularly regarding potential policy changes, it is difficult to predict which ones the White House is going to prioritize. For instance, there are 14 policy changes the White House is actively reviewing to finalize and there are 17 rule changes that have been put forward for consideration.

##Economy

Senate Republicans have failed to prioritize legislation to alleviate the suffering of unemployed Americans and mitigate the fiscal crises facing state and local governments. Most recently, on Tuesday Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell rejected a proposed bipartisan coronavirus stimulus package worth $908 billion, saying he only supports up to $500 billion in new aid spending.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin is putting $455 billion in unspent Cares Act funding into the agency’s General Fund - an account that the Biden administration’s Treasury Secretary will not be able to access without authorization from Congress. While the move may not be upheld as legal, it will certainly delay the Biden administration from accessing funds to assist in pandemic recovery.

>“Secretary Mnuchin is engaged in economic sabotage, and trying to tie the Biden administration’s hands,” Democratic Senator Ron Wyden said in a statement after Bloomberg reported on the Treasury’s plans.

The Fed said in response that it “would prefer that the full suite of emergency facilities established during the coronavirus pandemic continue to serve their important role as a backstop for our still-strained and vulnerable economy.”

Senate Republicans are attempting to stymie the incoming administration by installing Trump’s picks to the Federal Reserve. Two weeks ago, McConnell tried to advance controversial nominee Judy Shelton but failed to gain enough votes, with both Sens. Grassley and Scott in quarantine for the coronaviru

"Lawfulness" of creating a family CoA

Hi! So, I'm relatively new in this, and seeing that I've generally not had much response in other forums I've consulted, I'm asking here. It's likely most of you perhaps won't have the specialized knowledge I'm requiring but I guess your skills and knowledge will probably give me a general idea while I get a response from someone specialized in the needs I have or I'm able to finally reach out to them. Any help is welcome!

The question is: Is it lawful to create a CoA for my patrilineal lineage if we don't seem to have one?

Context (I'll try to be short, but, prepare for a ride):

*Part 1: Laws and Heraldic tradition

-Laws regarding the use and creation of a CoA: Laws of Castille

-Heraldic Tradition: Iberian, specifically Spanish.

*Part 2: Story behind the request and historical context

-Story: I'm from a non-english speaking culture which used to be a spanish colony, as you probably guessed from the context I've given so far. In my patrilineal family line we come from a lineage of people who belonged to the general strata of the nobility, that is, they were "hidalgos" which translated to an anglo-saxon context, means we're landed gentry, save for the very important difference in that landed gentry, as I've been explained, landed gentry had connections with the nobility and were descendants of nobles, but weren't nobility themselves because in England and its sphere of influence, generally speaking, only the titled nobles, well, were considered noble. In the broadly european continental context, and in the spanish context, noble families without a title or untitled members of houses wiht a title (eg: youngest sons of a baron, lord, viscount, count, marquis, prince, duke, etc.) are still nobility. So, this is the social class my patrilineal ancestor who came from Spain, along with a first cousin, belonged to, during the XVII century. His nobility is attested by documents where he had to demonstrate his nobility in order to be allowed to travel to America (understood as a continent, the definition of continent itself is a discussion too, but it doesn't belong here), this is specially important because 1. It was relevant to his military career and rank 2. All the neighbours of his village, which means, all of those who shared his condition of noble, had to testify that he indeed was noble, in this case, due to the geographical area and knowing how wealthy and influencial they would have been (in short, little, they were proba

How about that? Volcanism in Meso-American at the time described in the BOM.

I recall reading a few years back among the church's critics (a habit of mine I should probably give up) how there is "zero archaeological evidence" supporting the Book of Mormon account, including the destruction described in 3 Nephi 8 (cities burned and buried, etc) should have left an archaeologic record.

First Half of First Century Eruption

I'm not the first to learn of this ancient volcanic event and see it in relationship to the BOM, but if I don't know about it others might not either.

A group of archaeologists who spent 12 "seasons" studying a massive volcanic eruption in Central America in the first century AD--the Popocatepetl eruption reached some interesting conclusions. (Link below)

Here's their conclusion on the timing of the eruption:

>The primary contexts afforded by Tetimpa's domestic structures, activity areas, and agricultural fields provide reliable dating for both of the eruptive sequences considered here since they were in use when the disasters occurred (Figs. 2 and 3). They include burned roofing materials, charcoal from hearths, food left in storage bins, and charred remains of cultivated plants that have permitted us to reliably constrain the natural events by radiocarbon dating. The most reliable date for the first eruption is an AMS (Accelerator Mass Spectrometer) determination on a carbonized corn cob found sealed inside a jar, which yielded a reading of 2010 ± 40 BP (2 Sigma range of cal 100 BC–AD 70 [Beta146572]). This, 13 additional radiocarbon dates, and the cultural artifacts recovered from the houses buried by the tephra, indicate that the initial eruption probably took place during the first half of the first century AD.

I don't know much about volcanism, but it sounds like this eruption was a doozy that could easily account for much of the destruction described in 3 Ne 8.

> The earliest of these was a VEI-6 plinian event that took place during the first century AD; this explosive eruption produced a tephra column between 20 and 30 km high and deposited N3.2 km3 of yellow andesitic pumice over an area extending at least 25 km east of the crater (Panfil, 1996, p. 16; Siebe, 2000, p. 61). It buried at least one large village with lapilli, causing the abandonment of the settlement (Plunket and Uruñuela, 2003; Uruñuela and Plunket, 2003). Following the plinian phase, thick (30–100 m) olivine andesitic lava flows – now known as the Pedregal de Nealtican – covered about 50 km2 of the eastern piedmont

Meanings and Inspirations : SUB-ZERO

THIS HAS BEEN THE LONGEST ONE SO FAR EVERYTHING HURTS

enjoy

MASKS

Seeker of Mythologies - This is presumably a reference to the spin off game “Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero”. It is a little weird, because that game followed the story of Bi-Han, not Kuai Liang.

Lin Kuei Grandmaster - This is an easy one, Kuai has taken the role of grandmaster since the mkx comics.

Cryomancer’s Calling - According to Merriam Webster, calling in this context means “a strong inner impulse toward a particular course of action especially when accompanied by conviction of divine influence”.

Mantle of Black Ice - Black ice is when ice forms on roads and is difficult to see. I believe this is a reference to Bi-Han. Kuai Liang took up his mantle of Sub-Zero, and Bi-Han’s color scheme switched to black when he became Noob Saibot.

Brother’s Keeper - This ones more interesting than I thought it would be. Brother’s Keeper was a documentary made back in the 1990’s about the murder of William Ward, who was suspected to have been murdered by his brother, Delbert. Brother’s Keeper is also a quote from the bible, where Cain talks back to god about Able’s absence.

King of Ice Masks - Well, ice masks are apparently some sort of skin care thing, but I doubt there’s much of a relation and this is just something they made up.

Cold Skull of Bi-Han - Well, that’s a tad morbid. Interesting to note that this is Subs mk9 mask, not Bi-Hans.

Grandmaster’s Hoarfrost - According to Britannica, Hoarfrost is a deposit of ice crystals on objects exposed to the free air, such as grass blades, tree branches, or leaves. It is formed by direct condensation of water vapour to ice at temperatures below freezing and occurs when air is brought to its frost point by cooling.

Tongbeiquan Master - Tongbeiquan is a martial art style most popular in northern China. It’s most known for engaging the opponent from the maximum amount of distance, so basically real life zoning.

Dong Dashen Assassin - Well, I used google translate (bad idea, i know) and Dong Dashen seems to translate to East Great God. I have no idea if i just fucked it up or something, but that’s what was there.

Frozen Tengu - The Tengu is a creature in japanese mythology, they take on both avian and human like features. (The tengu is also the name of a rival clan to the Lin-Kuei in mk armageddon, thanks u/Tomoka0013!)

De of the Hailbringer - Well, I tried to look up what De meant but I cant find anything that makes sense. Most langua

Tips to meet people while solo traveling (even if you're awkward af like me)

I commented on someone's post about this but figured I'd make a whole post. I'm a huge fan of making friends while traveling and still keep in touch with random one-off friends I made in weird places. I think it's a special bond. Here are some ways I break the ice.

Note: I've been on both sides of this as the lone traveler who has met and made friends with other solo travelers and groups, as well as the person in a group who has absorbed an orphan traveler into our group for the day/week.

These have worked for me:

  • Wear or carry something distinctive, something that relates to your hobbies or passions. I put stickers on literally everything and all my stickers relate to my hobbies/interests/bands/shows/books. So many people will stop and be like "ahh, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy sticker!" or "The Office!" (even though everyone loves The Office, doesn't matter). Talking about something leads to talking about anything. More people than you realize want to make friends, they just feel weird as hell like you do. I live in Alaska so if I put something that says Alaska on it, people will inevitably comment on it but be wary of geographically identifiable clothing as it can make you a target as a tourist in less safe places.
  • Just ask people why they're traveling and where they're from. Everyone thinks they're a grand explorer when they leave home and they're dying to talk about it.
  • Be interested in listening, don't feel pressured to talk. Being interested is way more effective in making connections than being interesting, as people are more likely to want to hear your stories if they feel bonded to you and not like you're some weird stranger, vomiting your story all over them. So ask questions and actually listen, listening is super rare and always extremely appreciated.
  • Act open and excited, people are drawn to that shit. Don't be weird, but don't be jaded. Sometimes anxiety can manifest as someone looking bored/disinterested, but nobody wants to have to pry someone out of their shell to get to know them. Be mindful of your paralanguage (non-verbals) and how closed-off you seem.
  • Practice trying new social techniques. If you fuck it up and make it weird, you will literally never see them again and nothing matters. I've done some insanely awkward shit in the name of travel and while I didn't always make a lifelong friend, I definitely have some interesting stories.
  • Be open to new things. Just because som
