How Friday's GME gamma squeeze may trigger a short squeeze on Monday and Tuesday

I don't know if anyone else noticed, but Friday was kind of a big one for GME. It ripped face from $43 up to $75 in the morning session. That was fucking wild, even for this autist's dream of a stock.

Others have already commented on why this has happened, but I'll summarize for the dunces in the back. In short, the market makers wrote a LOT of OTM calls last week, and then had to buy shares to cover when those calls went ITM around noon. This is what caused the absurd spike from $50 to $75 in just an hour and a half. That's the gamma squeeze that everyone has been talking about, where MM's couldn't cover fast enough.

The rest is history, GME closed at $65, and every single call that expired yesterday was ITM. That's fucking retarded.

What this means, though, is that the MM's/brokers are going to have to deliver a ridiculous amount of shares when these expired options settle. Typically, settlement is on Tuesdays. I've read estimates that 10-15M shares worth of calls expires ITM last Friday. Again, this is fucking retarded.

Please note that none of the above movement relates directly to the short squeeze... but it will. Because there are now 10-15M shares tied up in the clearing houses, there are now even fewer shares to be borrowed. There are estimates that the true short interest on this stock was around 300%. Now, with about 20% of the total float committed to the fucking clearing house as they sort out Friday's shitshow, I expect true short interest is closer to 500%.

Demand for GME will continue to pump on Monday. This is a cultural event now, where every lay person can be a modern-day Robin Hood. The shorts are going to have their positions closed whether they like it or not if this continues (which it will). Since there are far far far fewer shares floating over the next 2 trading days, though, a squeeze on Monday or Tuesday could utterly destroy Melvin and the other shorts.

If RC even opens his twitter app this weekend, it's over.

Positions: Take what's yours, gents.

GME - Listen to this german guy: The most important thing until Friday.

Just translated something from german wsb. And was asked to post this as a discussion.

The most important thing is actually until Friday there will be another price battle in which the short sellers will try to keep as many calls as possible outside the price so that they cannot be executed and the broker does not have to buy them on the market to cover them .
It is particularly critical because monthly and weekly calls expire, as far as I know the highest monthly call was 60c 1/29 and 115c 1/29 (left out the new 200c).

The MM will try everything to push the course below 60 , our goal to get to 115 . Until then, expect massive short attacks , it will probably be even more blatant than yesterday. Since a price limit is harder to keep higher up, don't be surprised if there is a red tag up until then or the lower limit is 60-80.
For those of you who don't know what is meant, 100xLimit orders at $ 60 are $ 6000 <$ 11500 100x at $ 115 and easier to hold or buy from autistic people.

And almost most importantly , put your stop loss out , the shortsellers try to trigger as many as possible with their short sales in order to trigger a chain reaction of panic selling .

Remember yesterday we saw exactly that , price dumping at its finest, although almost no short position was powered.

Should we be able to hold the $ 115 by Friday , the banks (! Not the shortsellers) would have to buy an additional 8 million shares to cover the demand for the calls. To achieve this there is really only the possibility πŸš€βœ‹πŸ»πŸ’ŽπŸ€šπŸ»,

Don't be a paper bitch!

All figures relate to estimates and information or assumptions and observations from DD from here and the Angelsachen forum. Due to the high trading volume, it is not possible to say how the share is currently distributed !!

This is not a financial advice, but an autistic one. Always invest wisely and make your own decisions.

And now relax America won't open for another 4 hours anyway.

BlackBerry has potential for a large gamma squeeze this Friday πŸš€

First off, I am actual retard with a terrible trading history, and some form of mental disability.

TLDR; Mass BB call option buying has forced the big boys to short this like crazy. πŸš€πŸš€πŸš€

I wanted to point out that whats happening this week in BlackBerry is actually quite amazing. Yesterday, you beautiful retards bought and opened tens of thousands of option contracts that expire this Friday at $25 in BB. There was also a mass buying of the $20 contracts. What we are seeing today and saw some yesterday is big boys are coming in and shorting this stock like crazy. These guys sold thousands of contracts to us for this Friday and they HAVE to keep the BB price under $25 or this is GME all over again.

This is actually the type of setup a large hedge fund might see and say hey if we can push BB over 25 by Friday it will cause so much frenetic buying that the stock might hit 40.

Likely nothing will come of this, but if you are wondering why your favorite meme play is down today despite good news (BAIDU partnership) and LOTS of new money coming in on the buy side this is why.

Disclaimer: I am not a financial adviser, and you should always do your own research. I also LIKE THE STOCK.

GME: Massive increase in gamma squeeze severity if price remains high till EOD Friday. AKA Buying and holding IS WORKING. KEEP IT UP.

See my previous post first to understand the story thus far:

https://reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/l60euz/theory_the_hold_is_working_and_the_squeeze_is/

Wed 01-27

Fantastic trading day.

Up 97% on the day to close out at $345 battling all through the $300s all day.

Curiously small amounts of volume all day leads me to believe this was small amounts of short covering and paper hands selling on each bump (we'll know more when Ortex posts data in the morning).

Yes it took a bit of a dip in the after market, but I expect greatness from our German brothers and sisters to keep the momentum up today. The plan is the same: buy and hold.

It is working.

What's most interesting rn is the new $ amount of calls about to expire.

I had to compile a spreadsheet for this from multiple sources because my usual source didn't have the complete data (highly sus? Are they trying to hide this data?)

Spreadsheet:

https://imgur.com/a/zXTeR4t

This is essentially just the options chain you can look up. But, if you take the Open Interest (how many contracts are alive), multiply that by the latest close price * 100 and then sum all the contracts you get the total amount of $ of shares that are about to be exercised.

What's crazy about GME right now?

EVERY CLIT LICKING CALL IS ITM

That is insane. Never seen it before.

Tuesday ended with all those options worth $800mill

Wednesday? They jumped to $3.5 billion and it will continue to rise as share prices rises. Buy and hold.

Two things are gonna happen b/c of this:

-1. Mega Gamma Squeeze. MM's who weren't properly hedged before are about to be (they will have to buy shares on the market in order to cover these calls expiring higher than their delta position). But remember, all you degens are buying and holding, so there's low af volume and prices skyrocket with every share we force them to buy. Read this: https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/01/26/gamestops-gargantuan-gamma-squeeze/

tl;dr

> If the stock continues to rise, the market maker's delta position also > becomes increasingly negative at a faster rate due to gamma, requiring more > buying, which pushes the stock even higher still, and so forth. This > phenomenon is known as a gamma squeeze and the feedback loop resembles a > regular short squeeze.

feedback loop you say?

Sounds like tendie rocket to me if everyone holds.

-2. Many of these shares can be exercised into proper diamond hands instead of in MM's

I’ve seen a lot of people talking about selling Friday and here is why NOT TO SELL FRIDAY

It was said best in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/comments/l6os3d/the_gme_short_thesis_and_how_it_could_backfire_if/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

But let me make it more retard friendly. This all happened because they shorted the market right? What the fuck do you think they are doing right now? How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man!

They are shorting because they think that WSB will make their tendies and sell on Friday. Well they are right about one thing, we’re coming for their money, and not just 30%, assholes.

If DFV can hold, I can hold. 500 is paper hands. 1k is wood. 15k πŸ’Ž πŸ’Ž πŸ’Ž . But that model is based on today. When we hit 15k, 100k will be the new diamond hands.

Don’t listen to the bots that will come out saying they left with their tendies. Fucking HOLD to make the real money. YOURE THE shareHOLDers now, our fate is a collective

Edit: $GME all else is a distraction HOLD FOR πŸš€ πŸš€ πŸš€

Most People who are against higher wages for restaurant workers wouldn't last one Friday night dinner rush at a busy restaurant.

Do you know why it takes so long for you to get your food and your order was incorrect? The turnover rate in the the food business is sky high because it's stressful and alot of work plus alot of hours for not enough pay.

You get burned, cut, wet, dirty, sore, tired day in and day out and no one cares or respects the work you put in.

In america at least if you work in a restaurant it seems as if you are looked at as a lesser, like someone who doesn't matter to society, a servant.

News flash, some people who work in restaurants actually like what they do, despite all the bullshit and scars it feels good to create something for a person to enjoy and sustain them. It is hard work but it is rewarding to some of us it just sucks that we don't get any respect.

Friday 1/29/21 GME Expiry Date Means Nothing. Don't buy into the hype - shorts aren't just afraid of this Friday. Come down the rabbit hole with me.

Note: I am mostly summarizing the aggregate of explanations currently floating around about the 1/29/21 option expiry date. I don't claim any knowledge. This is not investment advice. Do your own research, don't invest what you can't afford to lose, and if something feels wrong it probably is.

TL;DR: This isn't about options (yet), it's about shares, and Institutional Investors are playing a dangerous game by convincing us (some of y'all have bought in without realizing it) that a magical short squeeze has some 3-day time limit, that Friday is somehow the end game, and are hoping that when investors don't see a $5,000 short squeeze by next week they will fold and take their gains at a "reasonable" double-digit stock price. Don't believe them. They can survive through mid-late February before the true short squeeze smashes upward. And I'll be ready. I like this stock and believe in it's long term potential, and I think it's undervalued.

THESIS: If institutional investors can (1) convince retail investors to sell stock at low prices and (2) convince their lenders to wait, then the 0.01% get richer.

JUSTIFICATION: There is so much public sentiment (passion, enthusiasm, excitement, anger, whatever) surrounding short (~1 day) price movements*, and Friday's expiring options (these are also end of month contracts), that it seems like big clever money may be trying to artificially create a sort of bear trap for shareholders.

Whatever happens in the next week or so (crest to $700? crash to $60?) almost means nothing in the long term, but could fool investors into giving these guys CHEAP ways out of their 140% float short interest positions. Remember, these are people who have been dumping tons of money for a long time, shorting the stock when it was in the single digits. They've been hoping for a GameStop bankruptcy, and manufacturing one as best they can.

IT'S DIFFERENT THIS TIME: Remember the VW infinite squeeze, where we saw weeks of crazy price movement before the actual peak. And that is a mild case, as most of the shares were held by an entity with legal, competitive, and strategic reasons and obligations forcing them to hold shares and artificially reducing the float, or available shares for trading. This reduced supply caused the short squeeze.

However, this time around we've got a huge short interest, much much larger by comparison than that from VW's 2008 peak, to the tune of **140% of shares available for tradi

Free Talk Friday

Welcome to today's open thread, where /r/nfl users can discuss anything they wish not related directly to the NFL.

Want to talk about personal life? Cool things about your fandom? Whatever happens to be dominating today's news cycle? Do you have something to talk about that didn't warrant its own thread? This is the place for it!

Remember, that there are other subreddits that may be a good fit for what you want to post - every day all day!

  • /r/NFLFandom for showing off your fandom
  • /r/NFL_Draft for talking in depth about the draft
  • /r/NFLNoobs for noob questions, no judgement
  • /r/nflblogs for posting blog posts - including your own
  • /r/nflofftopic for talking about anything with NFL fans
  • /r/nfffffffluuuuuuuuuuuu for all kinds of humor posts
  • /r/nflcirclejerk for when /r/NFL just becomes too much
  • ... and more - see the sidebar!

Casual Discussion Fridays - Week of January 08, 2021

This is a weekly thread to get to know /r/anime's community. Talk about your day-to-day life, share your hobbies, or make small talk with your fellow anime fans. The thread is active all week long so hang around even when it's not on the front page!

Although this is a place for off-topic discussion, there are a few rules to keep in mind:

  1. Be courteous and respectful of other users.

  2. Discussion of religion, politics, depression, and other similar topics will be moderated due to their sensitive nature. While we encourage users to talk about their daily lives and get to know others, this thread is not intended for extended discussion of the aforementioned topics or for emotional support. Do not post content falling in this category in spoiler tags and hover text. This is a public thread, please do not post content if you believe that it will make people uncomfortable or annoy others.

  3. Roleplaying is not allowed. This behaviour is not appropriate as it is obtrusive to uninvolved users.

  4. No meta discussion. If you have a meta concern, please raise it in the Monthly Meta Thread and the moderation team would be happy to help.

  5. All /r/anime rules, other than the anime-specific requirement, should still be followed.

Dear Diary... It's me, Kahmora Hall and it normally takes me 5 or 6 hours to get ready for a Dear Diary | Friday Edition - January 22, 2021

Use this post to discuss whatever you want! Future dream casts, trying your stand up career, crying shenanigans about this season's robbed cinnamon bun... it all goes here. Just remember to be civil and keep opinions here and not in the speculation threads. Thank you!
