Lagerstromeia Floribunda experimentation

So, docs online points that variety of crepe myrtle seeds are simply narcotic. Experimentation results: approx 500 crepe myrtle seed pods was added to 1 liter water and roll boiled to release any alkaloids present. Astringent glycosides being overlooked, i focused on releasing any tetracyclic or multicyclic flavonones by boiling. Solution was reduced to 1/2 liter over med high heat, cooled, and consumed. Phenolic 'carophyll/herbal' taste. No good effects noted; no bad effects noted. Final conclusion is that lagerstromeia Thai crepe myrtle seeds are non-narcotic and further research merited, possibly involving different sub species, to proove initial claim that they are.

Alone Amongst the Stars log - The Floribunda system

Planet Floribunda IX

The first planet with a human compatible atmosphere I came across this trip.

I began by exploring the cave system. During a rest I came across an unusual glowing fungus I had not seen before which I investigated once I was ready to go on. The fungus had previously been catalogued but it was not until I returned to the ship I would learn that along with its status as a native lifeform.

Whilst resting during the return ascent, I came across an interesting native fern on the floor of a deep canyon, it resembled a yucca plant. So strange to consider parallel evolution in the face of something so simple.

A final highlight. Coming unexpectedly upon a flowing river along the banks of which grew what I took at first to be bull-rushes but which had a pale yellow flower. No wonder the native plant life of this planet gives the system itself a name.

Floribunda V

I was forced to land here, having expended more air on my previous landing than planned and this being the nearest place to pick up more. Atop a large tree, I spotted its own fruit, the purple colour reminded me of early carrots but the shape has more in common with a citrus. Once I returned to the ship I had it scanned to determine if it was safe to eat. The system actually identified it as an orange despite the colour.

Floribunda I

My second planned stop this trip. Whilst resting, I spotted a field of grass about twice the height of a human. When I ventured in, I came across daisies of equivalent size.

I had to cross part of an ocean with the primative local water craft to come across the next sight, a sargasso sea in the deep ocean.

That was nothing compared to having to ride a camel across a desert to see the oasis, the palm trees are billed as a must see for tourists.

Even deeper into the desert are the cliffs of Grand where the Grand trees grow almost horizontally. They remind me of the redwoods back on Sol III.

As we rested the camels, my guide pointed out a volcano. The slow magma flows were a sight to behold but we could not watch for long as we were in their path.

Floribunda XV

The last planet I visited in this system. I had to meet my guide, a human born on this world, in the middle of an ocean. Again I had to use muscle powered water craft to get there.

As I rested after my trip, the guide introduced me to the rest of his family and we ate a meal of safe local food with them.

He took me to a place on the lake where he had built his house where there was a great
