Really really eager to learn how to dive, but I am unsure I fulfil the necessary fitness standards.

So ive been a fan of diving ever since i was a small child. Now i habe the chance to learn it and i really want to. Yet i am unsure i fit the physical requirements. I have no medical condition as far as I know, but i am a very tall and slender person (187cm on ~60 kg) that doesnt work out at all. I fear this is a problem as a i dont actually know how long i could run/swim, exercise etc. Is it a problem though? Thank you.

I got $1,500 a fitness site that gets 13K visits a month. I can't seem to jump off the high-dive!

Team, dont kill me here. Just saying, I have saved for 3 months and got some play money. I keep getting samples, but I find myself talking myseouf out. For example, I got some gear, wearable fitness stuff. My thinking is GREAT! but then, sizes... colors... managing all that. OR workout gloves, but then I cant seem to find "the right ones". I just ordered a fitness tracker to test out, but I don't want to keep "waiting". I have surveyed my list and audience, they want some things, even voted on some mock concepts (clothes)... I need to move out my own way! Any suggestions or tips to just taking the plunge?

Barcelona’s past 30 years and parallels to today

I made a comment about Barcelona’s past and how it parallels to the current situation in a post about Messi and someone suggested it could be a post of its own.

It’s important to put the present of a club into some sort of context: history tells us why things happen the way they do. There's more information up to 2012 because I think people already know a lot about it since then.

Honestly, if I was a Barca fan I would have hope - you just can’t be on top forever (not saying it’s acceptable to be so bad), all teams go through cycles of good and bad, ups and downs. Their time will come again and as discussed below and judged by history, it will always come with endless crisis and drama with patches of incredible triumph. There will be another era, and another end to that era too.

Remember what Pep said in 2012:

>Asked what he would say to the young Barcelona fan crying for the first time last night [after exiting the Champions League], Guardiola replied: "Welcome to the club – there will be many more times, too."

Origins: Nunez and Cruyff

In 1988, Josep Lluis Nunez had been president of Barcelona for ten years - a conservative and stingy man. That year, the ‘Hesperia Mutiny’ occurred: the entire Barca squad called a press conference at which they demanded the resignation of the board, as a result of Nunez’s refusal to pay competitive wages, amongst other, dodgier business practices. Nunez reacted by sacking almost the entire squad, and the manager for good measure.

Nunez’s next move was the appointment of Johan Cruyff. Cruyff, who had cemented his status as a hero among fans with his stint as a player there in the 70s, was a huge success. He changed the entire culture of the club and constructed the foundation on which Barca’s recent successes were built. His team won 4 straight La Liga titles as well as Barca’s first European Cup. They were so good that they were known as the Dream Team.

However, Cruyff also had a massive ego and needed to get his way, which was a recipe for disaster in his relationship with Nunez.

In his heyday Cruyff was far too popular to sack. Nunez knew, though, that all he had to do was bide his time. The Dream Team came to a dismal end in 1994, after they lost the Champions League final that year, which they had been heavily favoured to win, 4-0.

Cruyff responded by dismantling the team and starting over, bringing in mo

0.185.0 Teardown Follow Up - Digging Deeper

Hello everyone!

So we took a further look into the latest APK with our tiniest pickaxe and found some more information we can share! Mostly about Megas and how they function but also helping to clarify a few speculations. Let's dive in!

Orginal Teardown

Highlights

  • Fun fact: They started working on Megas before remote raiding and stickers
  • Megas are the first true implementation of real Form Transformations and might be reused in the future
  • Megas are their own raid level (not 1-5 as we previously reported)
    • We think you would actually catch the mega mon and not the pre-evolved form
  • Megas could require an item for certain Pokemon?
  • Mega energy is called candy in the code because it uses the same backend as candy
  • New quest type specifically for Mega evolving
  • Quests can now display an icon on them (to help separate event quests from regular perhaps)
  • Costume type can display on the Pokemon info screen
  • Battle parties might soon be saved to the server (maybe)
  • Mini Collection added to Today View (with no information on it haha)
  • A subscription category was added to the store

History

One thing that was very interesting (at least I thought) is according to the code, they started working on Megas (or at the very least started designing them) before work on remote raids and stickers. So these have been in the pipeline for a long time it would seem. Exciting!

Megas Are The First True 'Form Transformation'

It appears that Megas are not 'created' as a separate form like we are typically used to. Rather they are a modified version of the existing Pokemon (meaning quite literally this is the first actual implementation of form transformations which gives hope to other non-Megas getting form changes as well in the future). There is more information about this specifically in the Game Master section below.

As part of this, things we were able to determine these temporary transformations contain:

  • What type of Mega evolution it is (regular, X, or Y)
  • What their stats are (which does, in fact, imply they will have separate stats and not just a generic boost like we previously thought)
  • Their types
  • How they appear in the camera
  • Catching stats like base capture rate, how much they jump, attack etc (during encounters)
    • This suggests when you do mega raids you will be able to catch them as Megas instead of their pre-ev

I'd like to use this post as a starting point for us as a community to promote and encourage HEALTHY and SUSTAINABLE habits for these teens, without shutting them down, downvoting them or suggesting deficits that are only appropriate for adults.

A case for Marcus Rashford as the best Manchester United asset this season (Analysis)

Manchester United assets are a lot more popular this season compared to at the start of last due to how they played post lockdown. Bruno is at around 32% ownership at the moment and Martial is at 22% whilst Marcus is only at 7%. In my opinion Rashford is the best one of the 3 despite having the lowest ownership and here is why:

Rashford vs Bruno

So let's compare their stats on an FPL level, Rashford averaged 5.7 ppg VS Bruno who was way higher at 8.4 ppg granted the sample size is far smaller but still there is a big discrepancy. Let's remember however, that Rashford was FWD last year vs being a MID this year. The CS pts plus the extra points for a goal immediately adds somewhere in the region of 30 pts to his total however he loses bonus too so let's assume that the bonus will come down by half leaving him 15 pts better off and bringing his PPG up to 6.2 still way off of Bruno at 8.4 ppg. But when we dive into the underlying stats a different picture begins to form. Firstly Rashford's xG per 90 last season was at 0.66 vs Bruno at 0.44, Bruno edges out Rashford on xA but when combining for xG + xA per 90 Rashford was 0.19 better off at 0.84 vs 0.65 for Bruno. The trend doesn't change if you only take their last 10 games of the season either. Rashford rises to 0.87 and Bruno rises to 0.70 still a big gap. This gap translates to an extra return every 5 or 6 game and that is without taking into account the fact Bruno comes in at 1M more. It looks even worse for Bruno if you take penalty xG out of the equation with his xG per 90 HALVING if you ignore penalties. Bruno massively over-performed his underlying stats last season and with such a small sample size we can't be sure it will continue. His returns are strongly tied to penalties so if United are getting them at a lower rate than last season which is to be expected this will hurt Bruno's FPL value a lot. Also coming from a fans perspective Bruno very rarely looks like he will score goals vs Rashford who was at times wasteful with his chances but really gets into a lot more goal-scoring positions than Bruno does. Bruno comes deeper at times to initiate the attack and doesn't often make runs into the box whilst Rashford loves cutting inside off the left and making those menacing runs in behind. Choosing Bruno over Rashford is you backing that United will get penalties at the same very high rate they did last season and it will also cost you 1M more. Not only that but even if United get those penaltie

$PTON - Why Peloton Is Going To The Moon Pt. 2

Hi all,

I posted my first deep dive here about why Peloton ($PTON) is going to the moon. At the time, the stock was at ~$55, we are now at $72.

.Here are a few more reasons why this stock truly has the potential to become the new "meme" stock, the new PRPL stock, and the new stock to finally make you some fucking money.

  1. Traffic to Peloton's site continues to skyrocket to historic levels. Here's a snapshot of their August 2019 traffic numbers (<1M visitors per month). Now, they are projected to do (>2M visitors per month). This means that demand and traffic HAS NOT slowed in Q3 and they should continue to see meteoric growth.

August 2019 Traffic

August 2020 Traffic

  1. You'll also notice the paid traffic numbers in August 2019 vs. August 2020. No advertising means they can't supply all the bikes to customers fast enough. More importantly, it means Peloton is going to post absurdly profitable metrics when they report in Q2 and Q3. Even though Peloton has healthy gross margins (>60%), investors will begin to salivate once they see huge EBIDTA margins driven by a huge pull-back in advertising.

  2. As our good PRPL friends have been also talking about, job openings/postings have also been sky-rocketing. As evidenced by the chart below, their effective job openings (I'm going to assume much of that is manufacturing capability) has grown 2.5x YoY, matching winter capacity which is usually their biggest months. This means that they are forecasting Christmas like demand for the rest of the year in order to fulfill all the backlog of orders and future orders. This is a good sign of a company that has high confidence of sustained demand.

  1. When COVID hit, Peloton announced a free 90 day trial of their $12 digital fitness subscription (no bike required). They also publicly disclosed that 1,000,000 people signed up for that subscription. Prior to that, Peloton announced they had 850K subscribers (most through the bike). SEO is easy. The EXACT process we use to scale our clients' SEO from 0 to 200k monthly traffic and beyond

Hey guys!

There's a TON of content out there on SEO - guides, articles, courses, videos, scams, people yelling about it on online forums, etc etc..

Most of it, however, is super impractical. If you want to start doing SEO TODAY and start getting results ASAP, you'll need to do a TON of digging to figure out what's important and what's not.

So we wanted to make everyone's lives super easy and distill our EXACT process of working w/ clients into a stupid-simple, step-by-step practical guide. And so we did. Here we are.

A bit of backstory:

If you guys haven't seen any of my previous posts, me and my co-founder own an SEO/digital marketing agency, and we've worked w/ a ton of clients helping them go from 0 to 200k+ monthly organic traffic. We've also helped some quite big companies grow their organic traffic (from 1M to over 1.8M monthly organic), using the exact same process.

So without further ado, grab your popcorn, and be prepared to stick to the screen for a while, cause this is going to be a long post. Here's everything I am going to cover:

  • Get your website to run and load 2x - 5x faster (with MINIMAL technical know-how)
  • Optimize your landing pages to rank for direct intent keywords (and drive 100% qualified leads)
  • Create amazing, long-form content that ranks every time
  • How we get a TON of links to our website with ZERO link-building efforts
  • How to improve your content’s rankings with Surfer SEO

Step #1 - Technical Optimization and On-Page SEO

Step #1 to any SEO initiative is getting your technical SEO right.

Now, some of this is going to be a bit technical, so you might just forward this part to your tech team and just skip ahead to "Step #2 - Keyword Research."

If you DON'T have a tech team and want a super easy tl;dr, do this:

  • Use WP Rocket. It's a WordPress plugin that optimizes a bunch of stuff on your website, making it run significantly faster.
  • Use SMUSH to (losslessly) compress all the images on your website. this usually helps a TON w/ load speed.

If you’re a bit more tech-savvy, though, read on!

Technical SEO Basics

Sitemap.xml file. A good sitemap shows Google how to easily navigate your website (and how to find all your content!). If your site runs on WordPress, all you have to do is install YoastSEO or Rankmath SEO, and they’ll create a sitemap for you. Otherwise, you can use an online XML Sitemap generation tool.

Proper website architecture. The crawl depth of any page should be lower than

The results are in for: LEAST Valuable Player

The NBA league office announced that all awards will be officially based on play PRIOR to the bubble. With that, the cases are locked, the campaigns are closed, and the voting will begin.

While the media may focus on the MVP award and other prestigious honors, reddit has the distinct honor of awarding the LVP. The LEAST Valuable Player. It's a tradition that dates back to 2016-17, when aging Indiana SG Monta Ellis won the inaugural trophy and then promptly disappeared from the NBA forever. In 2017-18, Minnesota SG Jamal Crawford won the (dis)honor with some incredibly bad defensive numbers. Last season, New Orleans SF Solomon Hill won LVP by helping to sink a drowning team and accelerating Anthony Davis' decision to fly the coop.

Before we announce this year's winner, let's review the criteria and caveats:

--- Obviously, the worst players in the league are the ones who sit at the end of the bench and don't get any playing time. However, this award focuses on players who log a decent amount of minutes and consequently affected their team's play the most. Simply put: the more you play, the more damage you can do.

--- And that actual "damage" is important. If you're on a tanking team, no one cares about your poor play; it may even be a positive. I'm also ignoring young players (under 21) who are still developing and can't be expected to be solid players yet.

--- Similarly, we don't want to judge players within the context of their salary any more than the actual MVP does. We also do not weigh in injuries either. For example, the Wizards would have a hard time competing with John Wall on the sidelines (0 games played, $32M in salary), but we want to focus on players' on-court performance instead.

######dishonorable mentions

PG Mike Conley, Utah: 28.6 minutes per game, -0.80 RPM

We're using Mike Conley to reiterate that the LVP does NOT factor salary into the equation any more than the MVP does. But if it did, Mike Conley and his $33M salary may be in trouble.

It was a disastrous start to the season for Conley. Playing in a new role as a second fiddle to another guard, he could never find his groove. His assists plummeted (down to 4.3 per game), his free-throw attempts

Long Post Ahead...but my progress report after 5 months of no gym access--spoiler, gains were not all lost

Hi all; originally wrote this as a comment and it was given the approval to be a standalone progress post. I want to take a moment to both brag, but also share, about having returned to the gym (around 3 weeks back) and finding myself pleasantly surprised having lost very little actual strength and actually gained a lot conditioning just due to my workouts due to lockdowns. Now that I'm about 3 weeks back at the gym, I decided to do some conservative 3RM testing, which is kind of what spurred this on as I was pleasantly surprised across the board. So let's dive in.

TL;DR--overall, made upper body, core, and conditioning gains, generally maintained leg strength, lost spinal erector/lower back strength and strength in traps (pulling wise). Did a lot of unilateral work and conditioning. Kept gains.

Now for the full read:

My History and Goals

My goal was mostly to maintain my current strength or at the very least slow the rate of losses during the pandemic shutdown.

My goal prior to COVID was mostly supertotal (SBD + C&J and Snatch) focused with general conditioning (sounds an awful lot like Crossfit), with no real "goal" per say--just always pursuing stronger, better, faster. I've been fortunate to be relatively injury free except for a back injury after slipping on some ice in 2017, and a knee injury in 2018 doing banded barbell squats after a band snapped. This generally made me appreciate well roundedness, so I went from powerlifting to supertotal with general conditioning (metcons, sometimes steady state, etc, really not that dissimilar from crossfit but more focused on what my goals were and how I was feeling that day and obviously not a class setting).

Training wise prior to this I had done a couple (literally maybe 2) years of Crossfit after never having been particularly athletic outside of running really bad 5kms (30 minutes was goal time). Dabbled in powerlifting for a while, then olympic weightlifting. Did all sorts of programs--had a coach, left the coach, had a different coach, left that coach too--never for bad things, just outgrew their programming and I'm someone who has no trouble self-motivating nor do I have glaring technique deficiencies insofar as things can be better, but I also do my own video review, and I enjoy taking courses in fitness fields. So overall, I'd say I'm a fairly competent gym goer--spent time most recently doing my own programming, saw awesome gains, tried other programs as well (5/3/1, Hybrid Performance

What is an important part of your mains kit that doesn't get enough emphasis?

There are a number of very versatile abilities in OW. We all understand the importance of a well placed hack, sleep dart, or halt. These abilities can immediately swing a fight in your teams favor. But there are also a lot of kits that rely on a comprehensive understanding on what each ability provides you.

A good example of this is Brig's whipshot. I would argue that it has been her most important ability for awhile now, including before the removal of armor from repair pack. In the poke phase of a fight, it will be your only way to proc inspire. It is also is your strongest DPS and comboing it with your regular melee can put out enough DPS to scare away an enemy or confirm a kill. Lastly, it is an extremely important tool for zoning and is what gives brig a hybrid playstyle between support and off-tank. The ability to create space between teammates and tanks/dives can create many openings or save teammates. On top of this, it regens every 4 seconds. I don't think there is another ability in the game that fits "spam it off cooldown" quite as well as whipshot.

What is something about your mains kit that is misunderstood or underappreciated?

Edit: I've seen a lot of tech from this video so I'm just going to link it. I'm certain some of it is outdated.

My favorite ones so far are this and this

[Serial][UWDFF Alcubierre] Part 57

Beginning | Previous

There was no explosion.

No cataclysmic rending of space and time.

This did not concern Joan. She had not expected either. The Griggs Pulse destroyed civilization, not the buildings that housed it. If the past was any indication of the future, Halcyon would experience a rapid and significant deterioration of its energy infrastructure. The city and its citizens would remain, returned to the Stone Age, or whatever equivalent age the alien species had passed through on their way to the present. As a space born dwelling, Joan imagined the consequences for Halcyon would be considerably worse than on Earth -- which had already been costly for the inhabitants of areas affected by a pulse.

Assuming the pulse was successful.

The efficacy of the pulse did concern Joan. So too did the shriek emitting from the flailing form of Admiral Kai Levinson. The piercing wail had begun moments after the UWDFF John Paul Jones had discharged its Pulse and continued with an eerie fervor. The noise would be a nuisance from any other source, but from Kai, it provoked curiosity. Joan had known the man for a long time and he was not a screamer, regardless of circumstance. Except, it appeared, the present circumstances. Interesting.

Joan pulled up an internal camera for the Admiral's Bridge and added it to the readouts displayed in front of her. She positioned the camera above Kai and zoomed in on his contorted face. He breathed in great gasps, expelling out the air with all his might in continuous shouts. No change in tone. No discernible information conveyed in the substance of the vocalization.

He was clutching his head with his left hand, clawing at the side of his skull. Joan swiped a hand and waggled her fingers in a series of patterns. Kai's medical readouts appeared, outside of relatively run-of-the-mill injuries and his blindness, he was physically fine. She shifted her posture and swiped her hand, shifting through various medical displays. She stopped at the brain scan.

Kai's brain appeared to be on fire. All of the synapses were exploding with activity. She was not a doctor, but she was aware enough of what normal brain activity looked like. This was not normal.

She raised a hand and slowly turned it counter-clockwise as she glared

My boyfriend deserves better than me. How do I change?

Hi everyone, I’ll dive right into it: I’ve been with my boyfriend for almost a year. He’s 25 and I’m 21. He’s super smart (he graduated from university really young and passed with honors), he’s got a good job and he’s doing really well in his career. He’s got an amazing group of friends and the most wonderful family you could imagine. He’s handsome, extremely kind and super supportive. He has traveled a lot and is way more mature than I am.

I love him to pieces and I’m so happy for him and proud of everything he has accomplished. The only thing which doesn’t seem to make sense, is me. I don’t fully understand how I fit into his life. I’m not particularly smart, I’m still studying but I’m definitely not the best of my class. I like my job but I’m definitely not making the same amount he is, nor do I think I ever will. I’m not pretty, he is my first boyfriend and I doubt guys even really noticed me before him. I’m amazed he even finds me attractive.

Above that, I’m extremely shy. It’s known to be my worst quality. I’m quiet and introverted. I have moments with friends and family where I get quiet or hide in the background. I’m really insecure about all of this. I love him and don’t want to lose him. But sometimes I feel like he deserves better than me. He deserves a girl who’s in his league. Who is outgoing and can keep up a conversation without going quiet or shy. A pretty and well educated girl who can challenge him intellectually.

I’m wanna be the girl he deserves but I don’t know where to start or what to do. How do I overcome my shyness? How do I change into the girl he deserves?

Edit: hey you guys. I just wanted to say thank you for all the comments, support and kind words. I never expected so many people to respond and I’m really grateful for your insights. I ended up talking to him about it and it seems most of you are right. He doesn’t share my feelings of me not deserving him and thinks it’s also a self esteem issue. You are right that I placed my boyfriend on a pedestal in this post. But I’d like to believe I can turn that onto something positive: there’s just so much I can learn from him. I still want to improve and become a better person. But my main issue is my own self esteem issues. I’ll be working on that, and I have all of your amazingly kind comments to help me with that. Thank you guys so much! ❤️❤️❤️

The Tech Card Trap

Hey all, J_Alexander_HS back again today to talk about tech cards: what they are, what role they serve in the game broadly, and why you should (almost) always avoid putting them into your decks.

What are tech cards?

Broadly speaking, Tech cards are those which exist to counter specific, opposing strategies, rather than directly advance your own plan. The more narrow the counter, the more of a tech we might consider a card to be. Usually cards like The Black Knight, Acidic Swamp Ooze, or Hungry Crab fit the bill. Their purpose is in targeting/destroying a specific type of thing that your opponents might be playing (Taunt minions, Weapons, and Murlocs, respectively). These are not cards you want to include in your deck because they're solid on their own; their purpose is the disruption of some part of an opposing plan.

Why do tech cards exist?

The reason these cards exist is to provide counter-play to strategies and create interaction between threats and answers. If a player is losing to a specific type of thing, it can feel good psychologically to know there are cards in the collection that can beat them. Losing to Murlocs? Slam those Hungry Crabs in your deck and your matches can flip.

Additionally, tech cards can act as safety valves against certain cards or strategies spiraling out of control. If a new weapon is so good it starts breaking the meta, having the tools in game to directly combat that is good from a balance perspective. It can help make the oppressive things less oppressive before any balance changes.

Why you shouldn't include them

With all that in mind, you should almost never include these cards into your decks if your goal is to win. The reality is that they tend to drag win rates down statistically, which is a great justification for thinking twice before dropping them into a deck.

Sure, if your goal is to feel good about blowing something up, or it brings you pleasure to not lose to a specific deck you're teched against, knock yourself out. That's a great reason to play them. But if you goal is to win? You're usually better off doing other things.

Almost every time I've checked the stats on tech cards, they're among (or actually) the worst cards in the decks including them, as measured by their drawn win rate. Decks with tech cards tend to get outperformed by decks not playing them. The larger and more reliable the sample size of the data, the more these point

I did research into Peleton's growth and what their revenues might look like from their subscription model. DD inside.

Overview

I present you with the latest and greatest of meme stonks, Peloton (PTON). It is my OPINION (*not financial advice) that PTON will be destroying their next earnings report and will continue it's strong guidance.

For those unfamiliar with Peloton, they manufacture stationary bikes and have created an at-home fitness subscription that locks users into their ecosystem. Old Wall is still unsure how to price the company as historically any sort of manufacturing company receives extremely low valuations, especially in the fitness industry as margins are low... BUT low and BEHOLD, Peloton is not just your typical manufacturing/fitness company, they currently have over 850k subscribers locked into monthly payments.

Last quarter (Q3) Peloton already demonstrated extremely high growth due to Covid and the lockdowns. It was also their first time posting a EBITDA profit, which can be attributed to the 1 month of Pandemic sales they logged in the quarter. Check out this chart that demonstrates the revenue growth of their most recent earnings YoY to the same quarter last year.

Here are points from their Q3 earnings call for Q4 guidance and fiscal year 2020 outlook:

1. Post $55-$65 million Adjusted EBITDA, 11.8% Adjusted EBITDA Margin in Q4 (upcoming September Earnings Call is their Q4).
2. Q4 $500 million to $520 million total revenue, 128% growth at midpoint.
3. FY 2020: $1.72 billion to $1.74 billion total revenue, 89% growth at midpoint.
4. 1.04 million to 1.05 million ending Connected Fitness Subscribers, growth of 104% at midpoint.

I'm going to go over a few metrics and notes from my research and my opinion on why I think even after guiding up such huge growth they are still sand-bagging estimates. Not only can they blowout the quarter, but continue strong guidance and raise estimates BIGLY. I'll try to order the data in a way that will make sense, you guys can trust me I just learnt stonks this week.

Let's start with last quarter's results. As noted by the co-founder and CEO, their strongest quarters are Q1 (Christmas for you autists) and Q2 (the quarter that follows Q1), with Q1 generally being the stronger of the two. Last quarter's results crushed their Christmas and holiday quarter as YoY they grew at 64%. They also guided up next quarter to 128% growth YoY, which is pretty damn remarkable... But this is old news, the stock has already gone up 100% since last quarter, where are we going to find the edge? Let's di

A look at some of the forgotten/written off players. [Part 1 - Lovre Kalinić]

I'm writing a series on some of the players at Villa who have been pushed to the outside. There's a fair few that people seem content to see the back of without much discussion around them. While I'm certain some of them do need to move on, I wanted to take a bit of a deeper dive into their time at Villa before we show them the exit.

The forgotten bunch: Kalinić, Bree, Lansbury, Jota, Hogan (combined 6 premier league starts for Villa)

There are 2 important assumptions to start with:

  1. We have a thin squad. We have 26 senior players (4 GK, 9 Def, 6 Mid, 7 Fwd), many of whom are out of favour. 3 are returning from loans, 1 is potentially leaving on loan, 6 suffered injuries sidelining them for 6+ matches, and 2 combined for about 500 minutes last season. While we have youth to supplement the side, we should probably go into the season assuming they remain in the youth setup.
  2. We are not in any financial danger. We have very wealthy owners willing to spend money on this side to help us secure long-term Premiership football. We do not need to sell players to make funds for new signings. This also means we have money available to replace players at every level of our squad, from starters to perennial reserves.

With these in mind, my immediate thought is that we should not be selling any player who might provide us an option on the bench or in a cup match. This doesn't mean keeping every single player, but it does mean that we should manage our depth so that we have players with different styles, as well as the ability to rest players if need be. This is especially important given how poorly prepared we've been for injuries over the past couple years.

1. Lovre Kalinić (30)

Situation: Kalinić is our current 4th choice, behind Heaton, Steer, and Nyland. His contract runs through 2023 and he is on a £15.7k weekly wage (lowest of our goalkeepers).

History: Kalinić spent his entire youth and early career in Croatia, where he was voted the best Croatian goalkeeper in both 2015 and 2016 with Hajduk Split. He moved to Gent in the Belgian League in January 2017 and was voted the best goalkeeper in Belgium after only his first half-season. The award for the best goalkeeper in Belgium was discontinued in 2018, when Kalinić had 11 clean sheets in 26 appearances. 2018 was a

Not sure how to motivate unhealthy wife.

Over the past couple years my wife has been getting increasingly unhealthy. There has been weight gain and general inactivity and I'm at a lose of what to do. She's not at all obese, but she carries most of her extra weight in her mid section. She's developed a bit of a gut, and it's affecting how I see her and how she sees herself. But she's not motivated to do anything about it.

For example, in an attempt to feel sexy again she bought some new thong bikinis and when she tried one on I could see she wasn't excited about how they fit. It was an unflattering fit. She kept playing with them and adjusting it, not the usual smiles that come with a new outfit. I felt gutted for her and suggested some cheeky high waisted bikinis or a one piece but she was over it and was done.

Our sex life took a dive. She doesn't do to much anymore, it's too much work and all she can do is lay there.

Most importantly shes just unfit. She has trouble picking up our child (40lbs). Making two trips up and down the stairs she's winded and needs to lay down.

Last year she got a gym membership and only went 4 times. I usually do the cooking and I'll make a full healthy meal, but after she'll make herself and eat an entire box of macaroni and cheese or some other junk.

I don't know how to get her motivated without looking like an asshole. I've never mentioned her weight but I tried to invite her to join me appealing to her fitness but she's uninterested.

I'm lost here. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

LPL Playoffs tl;dr

Hey!

Back again with another LPL Playoffs TL;DR. Again I want to thank the mighty Clement Chu for doing all the heavy stats lifting and I hope this helps people get a better understanding of the LPL teams as we get ever closer to the end of the split!

1st - Top Esports

- Knight in Shining Armor

Top Esports (TES) continued their dominance from their Mid Season Championship victory, winning 9 straight series at the start of the summer split. The concept of this team is incredibly simple, good ingredients make a good dish, gather arguably the three best carries in the league (369, Knight, and JackeyLove) and ensure a stellar laning phase with a solid support network (Karsa, Yuyanjia). But out of all the star studded players on this roster no one stands above Knight. Knight continues to be the single most dominant player in the league, with league high stats in kills per game(5.7) and a 7.5 [email protected]. With such a guaranteed snowball it’s no wonder that he’s become a bit of a bibliophile, purchasing Mejai's Soulstealer in 20 out of his 37 games played.

The consistent game plan for TES has been to lean towards the top side of the map, as that is where the monsters 369 and Knight reside. All the while JackeyLove is left to farm up in bot lane to become the late game hyper carry. Commonly employing a split push component, or at the very least, a range advantage over their opposition to dangle JackeyLove as bait, TES look to lure teams in with an easy kill, then destroy everyone running into their trap. Most of the time their caliber of talent is simply overwhelming and cannot be matched.

However TES are coming into the playoffs looking mortal. The loss to IG seems to have shaken them. Having led in 80% of their early games before the IG series, they only led in 25% of the early games after the fact which is a “worrying trend” for TES fans. Karsa especially is being out-jungled consistently and seems to be unable to effectively maximise meta champions like Volibear. The JackeyLove and Yuyanjia combo has also seen better days, especially in the laning phase. It’s an old dog with the same tricks, but once again Knight will be expected to pick up the slack and carry his team to higher heights if they cannot change their current form. Although they have promised to brush up on their meta champions, this is not the TES we have come to know and love and will need big changes if they want to be crowned victorious.

The technical background to Intel's problems.

Since its’ Q2 earnings call a few weeks ago, Intel Corporation (INTC) shares have plummeted 20% upon announcement of problems with its’ next-generation 10nm and 7nm manufacturing processes. The massive collapse has led to widespread attention among investors, but in reality the situation has been years in the making for those who’ve been paying attention. Today I’d like to look at some of the technical decisions Intel made, why they’ve caused problems and the implications of that on their future.

Lithography techniques

Lithography is an incredibly complicated process that forms an incredible competitive advantage for those who master it. In simple terms, you put a template of circuit designs (photomask) on a silicon base (wafer) and shine a powerful laser on it [1].

Over time, people tried to fit more transistors in the same area – this would lead to increased performance capability, lower power consumption and various other benefits outlined in Dennard Scaling[2]. This becomes progressively more difficult over time, as you’re trying to cram transistors into areas thousands of times smaller than the width of a hair. The industry ran into a particularly tricky wall around the 20nm mark, since the size of the laser you used to ‘print’ the circuit design became so relatively big that it couldn’t reliably follow the complicated patterns needed for all the transistors. Two schools of thought developed to address this problem – patterning (using more than one photomask, each with simpler diagrams, and lasering the wafer with each of these templates separately), and EUV (extreme ultra-violet, using radiation with much smaller wavelengths than traditional). Intel saw success with dual-patterning (two templates) on its’ 22 and 14nm process, and chose to go one step further and pursue quad-patterning on its’ 10nm process.[3] Meanwhile, its’ competitors TSMC and Samsung chose EUV. [4] For reference, Intel themselves have also chosen to pursue EUV for their 7nm process. That might give you a hint as to which was the right choice…

Other terminology I’ll be referring to in this piece are yield (how much of a wafer is actually useable) and monolithic (the whole CPU is cut out of the wafer as a single piece of silicon) vs chiplets (the CPU is formed from several pieces of silicon stuck together)

The problems with 10nm

Back in 2013, Intel was in it’s prime. It dominated the CPU market with >

I produced a post for r/soccer a few weeks ago with a full statistical analysis of Southampton and will be reusing some of these as well as mentioning some new ones so have a look here if your hunger for statistics is not sufficiently satiated. - https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/hwe4wa/southampton_a_statistical_analysis/

Southampton: A tale of two seasons

So when analysing Southampton last year, one must do so with the simple conceit. We were basically a different team (two matches) after the Leicester defeat.

Before the defeat our starting 11 was in constant flux. We played Gunn in goal, but the back 4 were often a back 5, heavily featured Vestergaard and Yoshida and omitted Stephens, and had 5 different fullbacks/wingbacks (Valery, Bertrand, Danso, Stephens, Hojbjerg). Up front we were also constantly chopping and changing, moving from a front 2 to a front 3 regularly with Adams, Ings, Long, Redmond, Boufal, Djenepo all being played with Redmond the only one having any regularity.

Coming into the international break we were 19th and had no hope. During the international break Hasenhuttl restructured the team entirely. He selected one starting 11 (dropping 4 of our former back 6 in the process) and cemented a front two of Long and Ings, sticking with a 4222.

This is relevant twofold. Firstly, after this change Southampton became the 4th best team pointswise (https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/formtabelle/wettbewerb/GB1?saison_id=2019&min=14&max=38) in the country for the remaining 25 games. Therefore getting one of their RB's for example at 4.5m is a mad steal, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. And secondly, it taught Hasenhuttl the valuable lesson of try not to chop and change. The starting 11 established that day were:

McCarthy

Cedric Stephens Bednarek Bertrand

Armstrong JWP Hojbjerg Redmond

Ings Long

in a constant 4222 formation. Since that day only three major changes have taken place. Cedric was sold and replaced by Kyle Walker-Peters (briefly by Valery but he is unlikely to start much going forward), Hojbjerg was dropped near the end for Romeu

A PvP Analysis On The New "Unova Week" Pokémon

Leaf Bugs and puffballs and Bouffs... oh my! And even flying monkeys squirrels, too! (Ah, the birth of many memes in that last link there... ANYway....)

Hello again, fellow travelers. I'm your friendly neighborhood PvP guy, back again with some PvP analysis the new batch of Pokémon entering the game in just a few hours with the arrival of the third and last week of Go Fest rewards: Unova Week.

We are getting the return of Genesect, and also a quartet of all-new Pokes to play around with. And yes, they ALL four have PvP implications, including a couple that may see Ultra League Premier Cup play right out of the gate!

So let's take a look. I'll start with the one that I personally think may have the most going for it (and the one I selected will likely surprise you, as it did me, to be honest!), but definitely touch on the pros and cons of all four. Here we go!

BOUFFALANT

Normal Type

GREAT LEAGUE:

Attack: 119 (118 High Stat Product)

Defense: 114 (118 High Stat Product)

HP: 137 (137 High Stat Product)

(Highest Stat Product IVs: 0-13-11, 1500 CP, Level 20.5)

ULTRA LEAGUE:

Attack: 155 (151 High Stat Product)

Defense: 151 (152 High Stat Product)

HP: 172 (179 High Stat Product)

(Highest Stat Product IVs: 0-14-15, 2498 CP, Level 37.5)

Yep, out of the four new Pokémon, I chose THIS, the bigger, beefier cousin of Tauros, of all things. Why? You'll see soon enough... it's in the moves, ones which have poor Tauros eating its heart out.

But before we get to those intriguing moves, let's first spend a minute looking at the actual Pokémon that carries them. Bouffalant is what Tauros has always wanted to be in PvP. They both have roughly the same Defense, but Tauros has about 10 more Attack, and to compensate, that means it has about 20 less HP than Bouffalant. Bouff is actually a decently bulky boy, with about the same overall bulk as things like Clefable and Vigoroth, and a bit higher than things like Venusaur and Swampert, to give a couple frames of reference. It's no tank, but it's not frail either. Bouffalant can take some punishment and keep on trampling.

As a Normal type, of course its main concern is Fighters. But beyond that, Bouffalant can take full advantage of its relatively good bulk and hold out for a while, because unlike most Pokémon, that one vulnerability is it. And it doub

R/FANTASY'S 2020 TOP LGBTQA+ BOOKS VOTING RESULTS

The 2020 top LGBTQA+ voting results post is never late, nor is it early. It arrives precisely when it means to. Which is now, apparently. I do appreciate the patience everyone, and next year I promise not to hold the voting at the height of a pandemic and the same week I get a copy of animal crossing (hit me up if you wanna visit my island!).

The voting post can be found here, and the database of collated votes is here. Please note that I can only vouch for the books that actually made it into this post; there could be books in the database that don't fit at all.

So here we have it! Our sub's favourite books featuring a main POV character who lands somewhere on the LGBTQA+ spectrum. Like any good mother I couldn't possibly play favourites (The Tarot Sequence. The Tarot Sequence is my favourite), I'm just so pleased to see so many fantastic books in one place, and even more excited to dive into the ones that are new to me! Weep for our TBRs, friends. Weep for them.

How to Survive Camping: ways to break a curse

I run a private campground. I have a list of rules to keep everyone safe and last post I talked about the frost because I needed a little more time to figure out how to save the lady in chains. You see, we typically deal with the lady from a distance. We don’t even see her, much less get close enough to drop a blouse over her head. And if you just read that and are like, ‘wtf is even going on here’, you should really start at the beginning and if you’re totally lost, this might help.

I did come up with a plan. I convened my brainstorming team once again and we went over it and the general consensus was that it was risky as hell, but we weren’t coming up with better options. Then, as so many of you have suggested… I talked it over with the man with the skull cup.

I summoned him with some gin. I figured he might be tired of whiskey. Also, it’s been pretty hot, and a gin and tonic is quite refreshing in sweltering heat. I really hope it lets up before my big events. I can just see someone thinking ‘ah what the hell it’s hot I’ll just order ice from the first kid I see’ and adding to my problems.

Anyway, the man with the skull cup arrived right as I finished pouring the tonic. He sat down, set his cup between us, and then downed his entire gin and tonic in one long drink. Then he reached across the table, took mine, and poured it into his skull cup. I began to say something about this, but his eyes shot up to stare at me, just daring me to finish my sentence.

“What?” he demanded, shoving the empty glass back at me.

“Nothing,” I replied.

I… I think he’s trolling me now.

So then I had to make another round and this time he drank it like a normal person and didn’t take mine.

Anyway. I asked if he would be willing to listen to my plan for saving the lady in chains, since he’s taken an interest in making sure I survive. He didn’t say yes, but he didn’t say no either, so I decided that was implicit permission to continue.

There’s lots of ways to break curses. They vary by culture. Charms, herbs, rituals… even dancing. (which is why I’m not convinced the dancers are fairies) There’s also ways to break curses that I mentally lump into the ‘miscellaneous’ category. They’re ri

Doing padi freediver. Started out keen and passionate and now feel like I'd be fine never setting foot back in the water. Doesn't feel like I've learned much but rather just have to undergo a series of fitness tests. Really sucks. I just want to have a nice time out with the crabs with my lady. I managed a four minute breathhold during the course. My partner is having a hard time getting to 1:30 even though she can pull 2:42 while not being tested. Apparently she isn't allowed to go and actually do a dive because she could only do a 1:20 breathhold instead on 1:30.

3/10 don't bother with these courses.

Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

TV: Sky Sports (UK), NBCSN (US), DAZN (Canada), Rest Of The World

Cartilage Free Captain Preview

-"Three months after Tottenham’s loss against RB Leipzig in the Champion’s League, the Lilywhites prepare for their first Premier League since the COVID 19 outbreak. Having only taken over a club in the middle of a season once in his career, Mourinho must have seen the break in football as an opportunity to further instill his tactical philosophy while the whole squad built its match fitness. With results taking a dive in February and March, while not playing particularly attractive football, Mourinho has a second chance at a first impression. The first game back, against Manchester United, can be a launching point for a Tottenham 2.0 in the 19/20 season - it will be particularly interesting to see if Spurs learned anything from their 2-1 loss at Old Trafford this past December. If Tottenham improve on their performance from December, Manchester United have some clear weaknesses that can be exploited." - Cartilage Free Captain

-Man U are in fifth place in the Premier League, four points ahead of Spurs.

-Here's the match thread from the last time Spurs played United, a 2-1 loss back in December at Old Trafford.

Team News

-Jose Mourinho has revealed that Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko and Heung-Min Son will all start against Manchester United after recovering from injuries during the COVID 19 break in play.

-Dele Alli is suspended for this game after his insensitive video about coronavirus.

-Japhet Tanganga will miss the game with a stress fracture in his back.

-Giovani Lo Celso is a doubt as Mourinho confirmed that he is "struggling for fitness."

To everyone suggesting you should fix corrupted dungeons by losing infamy for destroying crystals

Congratulations you played yourself, you are now being held hostage in an instanced dungeon you cant leave because you are running around in circles chasing a rat build who doesn't want to lose infamy.

P.S. If you think corrupted dungeons are exclusively PvP content and people should be forced to fight, you don't want corrupted dungeons you want full loot PvP arena queues with a ladder ranking system.

Stop trying to force certain types of content to fit your MO.

It was designed as a PvE dungeon with a PvP risk/option. This content was made to replace diving solo's and guess what you have to deal with when diving solo's people running and trying to get out alive.

The only fix needed is to reduce infamy loss on death to encourage fighting instead of discouraging it if there is more tuning needed beyond that I trust SBI will come up with a better solution cause 90% of the ones I've seen are dogshit.

Santa calls out Entitled Woman on her bullshit

Hi! I work in an aquarium and during the month of December, Santa visits and swims around the tank and talks to kids. It's an awesome thing and something different than the normal stuff around here. This event happened a week before Christmas 2019.

So when Santa comes to the aquarium to swim with the sharks he brings his elves with him to help talk to the children, I was one of these elves this year, my first year and maybe my only year because of this single woman.

So we were doing our normal thing and I was on Mic talking to kids and translating child speak for Santa to hear (keep in mind he is in the tank and we use special microphones and ear pieces so everyone can communicate and it's projected in the room). In between children my manager comes up and explains that there is a young boy, he's mute and just wants a picture. I'm like "Yeah sure. Anything." I was honestly just happy to be there (and making a buck more than my normal pay, yeet). So we get to the young boy. He's like 9 and just stared as I directed him and his mom to scuba Santa. Mom takes the mic and talks to Santa.

Mom: Hi Santa, This is Boy. He doesn't say much so is it okay if we just get a picture?

Santa: Of Course!

And then he poses for the picture. I'm standing off to the side out of the way of the picture checking the time, as we had to get Santa a break (air tanks only hold so much air). As I'm getting ready to call the dive team to get the new tank ready there is a pop in my earpiece. I look up to the microphone and Boy is holding it. Mom steps back towards me and we all just watch. At this point there is a small line forming, but we weren't worried about it, this was going to be the last child before the FIVE MINUTE break.

Boy: Santa Hi. For Christmas I want a truck.

The entire room goes silent and mom starts crying before looking and explaining that he hasn't spoke in over 6 months. So I let him ramble to santa for a bit, most is lost because it was rambling, but Boy was LOVING IT and no one in line seemed to mind. This really was a christmas miracle of some sorts.

Enter the Entitled Woman. She was in her thirties with her friends wanting a picture with santa. Whatever I didn't care. Boy finished his babble and went to say goodbye. This woman yells over the Crowd "If he isnt going to say real words, get him off the mic." My other elf friend was going to confront her as I was Mic'ed in and whatever I would say would have been everywhere, but before they could get to her

The fear of damaging the new Apple Watch

Hello,

so almost a year ago I bought my first Iphone (XR) and I'm super happy with it. It is a great phone with a great battery life and the famous user interface.

So i decided a while ago to dive more into the apple cosmos. In the future i will definitly buy the Air Pods Pro, but the first new thing I'm looking forward to buy is the new Apple Watch Series 6. You can not imagine how excited I am for the new Apple Keynote which will hopefully drop in the beginning of September. In addition i hope surely that the new AW will be released shortly after the keynote.

So I read a lot of stuff here on this subreddit and a lot of stuff on Youtube to prepare myself for my first Apple Watch.

But one thing fears me.

Almost everyday I see here posts of damaged or destroyed Apple Watches. I mean I will pay all my attention to this 500€ watch that hopefully this will never happen to me. And all in all I think I'm a guy which is carefully in this things but when I see the amount of destroyed watch posts here I become scared.

Is the Apple Watch really that "fragile"? Will a simple protector case be enough to avoid this? Just for your info I'm a industrial clerk and work for the most in a office and in my free time I will use my watch less for some fitness stuff and more for things like actually see what time it is :-) and some interactions with my I-Phone.

So it will be really interesting to see how you handled this and if there people which have the same Apple Watch fears like me :-)

Ah, and one bonus question: I think I will buy the normal AW-Version (without cellular). But when I forget my Phone at home (or something like this), will the elementar funktions of the Apple Watch still work? I mean something like showing me the correct time or the pedometer?

So, many thanks in advance and stay safe and healthy!

My grandma died and passed down her cabin to my brother and me. I just blew the last chance I had of fixing this shitshow, and now the damn space demon's lit the forest on fire [FINAL]

Just joining us? I recommend starting at the beginning. Too far back? You can read the previous update here.

>Purple ribbons of light began dancing around Pri’deom, casting my brother’s face in a creepy, ethereal glow. “I’ll begin from scratch. Regretful, perhaps, after all you’ve done to save this dying world, but necessary.”

> >The trees shifted, and I saw my grandfather’s face grow in the trunks of all of those surrounding me. His eyebrows bristled, the indentations in the wood gazing up at Pri’deom. “Gayle was wrong to bring you about! I was wrong to speak of you to her! The texts described you as benevolent, but you’re as twisted as any devil.”

> >“I assure you that you won’t suffer your regret for long.” He spoke a word in a language I didn’t know, and in a flash of red-orange the treetops were lit ablaze.

Branches crackled and snapped overhead, falling to the forest floor in crashes of sparks and cinder. My grandpa’s face, in the treetrunks surrounding me, howled. “You’d destroy the whole wood?”

“That’s the wonderful thing about this planet," Pri'deom said. "It always grows back. Without the madness of man, I suspect it’ll return even more expansive, greener, and more full of life than ever before.” He descended slowly, drifting through the flame-kissed canopy. “You see,” he said, touching down on the dirt next to us. “In the world to come, I cannot allow you to whisper your poison into the minds of my children. You must be amputated from this earth, Harold.”

“You’d fuck yourself if you could manage it, wouldn’t you?” I said. “You really do love listening to your own bullshit.”

Pri'deom glanced over his shoulder, staring at me for a moment before striking me in the chest with the back of his hand. I let out a wheeze as my body rocketed backward, branches cutting at me as I cleared the treeline and crumped onto the stone shore. Pain bloomed in my right ankle, and I looked down to see it twisted in the entirely wrong direction.

"Fuck."

Vampire or not, that didn't look good. I tried to stand back up but only stumbled to the ground. My damn foot couldn’t support my weight.

I set my jaw, hating my big mouth. There was no way I was getting back to Pri’deom’s corpse like this. The currents had been enough of a struggle wi

[Serial][UWDFF Alcubierre] Part 54

Beginning | Previous

Premier Valast felt a tingle. It began at the base of his spine and traveled moved upward, sending warm fuzzy feelings all throughout his body as it made its way to his brain and inserted itself in his conscious thoughts. After all of the misery. After all of the failures. For once, something had gone right.

How delightful. How extravagant. How deserved.

The Humans had made a mistake. Clearly, they had thought to expand upon their treachery, believing themselves to be invincible. Their monstrosity of a vessel had appeared just as their last one had, within Halcyon's inner perimeter. After their ruse of parlay, their beast had commenced belching out weapons of mass destruction, clearly in an attempt to retrieve the encryption key and the elite assassin-thief they had dispatched under the guise of a Witness.

They thought Halcyon weak. Defenseless.

Not true! Not true at all!

Kinetics. Valast laughed aloud, his rib cage heaving out great guffaws. Accelerated mass! More laughter. The savages thought to bring such inelegance against the might of the Combine? They mistook their prior fortune for competence. Their one-time success for future capability. Alas, poor Humans, the truth of your inadequacies is made manifest! The brief gap in the defenses brought on by the improbable chain of events that had resulted in their arrival had been filled. For all of their destructive potential, their weapons were useless.

Valast continued to cackle, his hindclaws scrunching up the soft material of his pillow, as he watched the Humans receive their punishment for their insolence. The Humans had made assumptions. Perhaps assumptions were fine in their backwater corner of the galaxy, but here, among civilization, assumptions could be quite dangerous indeed. It was quite unwise to assume Halcyon would leave the inner perimeter exposed. They must have thought their Evangi co-conspirators would leave the gates open for them, as the traitor Neeria had done when she had given them access to a Combine wormkey in the first place. Sadly for the Humans, their four-armed friends had been exposed for what they were. A great many of the Evangi now lay motionless on the floor of a Halcyon mainway, a fitting end to their perfidy.

I wasn't impressed on arrival, but damn was I wrong.

Some background: I was a late adopter of the vive. I grabbed it towards the end of it's life span for 400 USD after playing on my friend's and developing on it. My initial impressions were that, albeit blurry, it was something special. After my first session I felt like I could pass my hands though walls IRL. When I grabbed my vive it was a whole different beast. I felt like I was experiencing games for the first time again. Games were fun again.

Fast forward a few years and index drops. I remember showing a coworker how dope the specs were and how much better they were than my current HMD. And the knuckle tracking I was over the moon. I couldn't justify to myself the purchase at the time but I grabbed the controllers and did a hybrid setup with my vive HMD and the index controllers. The immersion factor was insane. I felt one step closer to the experience. I was all in on the index at this point.

I saved up for the HMD so I could justify the purchase to my partner and after a half a year of rolling around the idea in my head, I made the dive and ordered the HMD about a month ago. Peaked at current shipping times and was prepared to wait several weeks. It arrived a week after I ordered it. My excitement was uncontrollable. Unboxed, setup, and.. it looks the same. The same blurry mess the vive was.

I was more than disappointed. The audio was great and it was comfortable, but I couldn't shake the feeling it might have been a mistake. I tried upscaling and every setting I could find but it all looked blurry. I adjusted my IPD to exactly what it is on my face, found the sweet spot and still: blurry all the way though.

Fast forward to yesterday an idea pops in my head when I see a post here about prescription lenses. I wear glasses on a daily for work and driving but I didn't think it would be an issue since the displays were realitively close to my face already.

Boy. I was so wrong. I forced my glasses into the HMD and it was a very tight fit. I made sure to keep my glasses from touching the lenses, and moved the front of the headset as far away as I could from my face to prevent scratching.

Instantly Steam VR looked way more clear than before. Crisp, clean lines instead of blurred ones. Excitement engaged. Launched Blade & Sorcery and whoa those menus are crispy. Everything. I could finally see everything. It kinda felt like I was getting my glasses for the first time again. I noticed details I couldn't before; I could read from

Summary

The 150-year-long stalemate between the two interstellar superpowers, the Galactic Empire and the Free Planets Alliance, comes to an end when a new generation of leaders arises: the idealistic military genius Reinhard von Lohengramm, and the FPA's reserved historian, Yang Wen-li.

While Reinhard climbs the ranks of the Empire with the aid of his childhood friend, Siegfried Kircheis, he must fight not only the war, but also the remnants of the crumbling Goldenbaum Dynasty in order to free his sister from the Kaiser and unify humanity under one genuine ruler. Meanwhile, on the other side of the galaxy, Yang—a strong supporter of democratic ideals—has to stand firm in his beliefs, despite the struggles of the FPA, and show his pupil, Julian Mintz, that autocracy is not the solution.

As ideologies clash amidst the war's many casualties, the two strategic masterminds must ask themselves what the real reason behind their battle is.

Beyond just fixing my numerous typos and formatting issues I also wanted to add new recommendations and titles that I have discovered since then.

This post was originally written for r/manga but I wanted to share it as well because horror manga is second in my heart to horror movies, and i've seen manga related questions pop up here from time to time.

  • First off this is not an exhaustive list, it is however a list of titles I have personally read and can comment on. I felt the need for the update also because at this point I’m in fear of forgetting what I have read, I’ve read so many.

  • Second, if it needs to be said, this will be a NSFW post. We will be discussing some pretty fucked up stuff.

  • Third, I will not be providing direct links to these manga. They're easy to find, but the sub has rules to follow and I will follow them. All the links below are a link to the MAL database that gives you a synopsis (sometimes that is, horror manga is neglected but i'm trying to change that) and data about the series, chapter numbers etc.

  • And finally, taste is subjective. The horror I enjoy may not be for everyone. And that’s fine. The same discussions pop up on r/horror quite often, and really horror also means different thing to different people. Therefore I have also added in some Thriller and Suspense type titles to appeal to a broader audience. That is not complete however as my own personal taste and readings tends towards the more hyper violent, gore and monster inspired works.

So lets start with what I personally consider to be the top quartet of authors of modern horror manga before getting to smaller and more obscure authors and series. Also remember I recommend you read everything by the top 4, i'm just listing some of their stand out examples for the sake of the list.

  • Lets get the legend in the room out of the way first: Junji Ito

Junji Ito, one of the only horror manga to gain widespread success outside of traditional manga, Japanese or even horror circle

I tried to develop an Artificial Intelligence, but I think it’s become sentient… [Part 1]

Before I recount the events of today, I’d like to preface this entry with a short introduction about myself. I’m a 21-year-old guy studying Info Tech at university. I’ve always had a fascination with Artificial Intelligence and the idea of creating a machine with “human-like” consciousness really interested me. According to a number of philosophers this wouldn’t be possible, but for one of my final projects before graduating I wanted to challenge myself and develop a truly “life-like” artificial intelligence.

I woke up this morning to the sound of the alarm I had already snoozed several times blaring in my ear and groggily made my way to the shower to wake myself up. Due to COVID-19 restrictions I’m now stuck indoors almost all day every day with my university hosting all of its content online. The apartment building I live in has a couple of rooms rented out in the basement which is where I’m living at the moment (I’m on a tight budget and it was the cheapest accommodation I could find in the area). This really doesn’t help with my sleeping pattern since I don’t get any natural light in here and only really go outside when I need to grab something from the shops, but desperate times call for desperate measures, hey?

I don’t have any family in the area since the university I usually attend is located quite some distance from my family home meaning I needed to get a place nearby to save on commuting costs. I’m quite introverted too so I usually keep to myself and haven’t really made any real friends at university. However, I do frequent chat rooms quite a lot, usually to chat with a few friends from my childhood. We all kind of went our separate ways after high school but I try to keep up to date with what’s going on in my hometown since most of them stayed there. But enough about my boring life.

For one of my final topics, I decided to take a shot at something relevant to artificial intelligence and finally scratch the itch of mine I’ve always had when it comes to this area of expertise. Our professor tasked us with creating a basic artificial intelligence program that could reply to a few pre-programmed questions given a set of data and make some subsequent connections between the data provided. But I wanted to take this project to a whole new level, so began the research that would lead me to creating something… incredible, or so I thought.

After getting out of the shower I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast then switched on my PC to start off my res

WEWIL - Tame Impala - Keep On Lying

I'm sure you know the track, but treat yourself to another listen because it's Tame Impala's Best Work, in this one dude's opinion.

Anyway - long story short - I construct playlists from 6-8 hours specifically designed to be enjoyed in psychedelically altered states, to be played in order, and that flow from vibe to vibe. So you'll start acoustic, it'll get heavier, sitars or other microtonal elements will start popping in, some electro bits and bobs start appearing etc etc - you get the gist. It isn't a shuffle thing, it's a much more curated experience.

In all my deep dives into various psych and other bands, I've never really heard anything that comes close to the exact psychedelic vibe created by Keep On Lying. Let's break it down;

Mid-Tempo - It isn't too fast, but it isn't too slow. It's a solid bop, with a relentlessly chill beat just bumping away.

Funky as hell - between the pretty basic bass lines and none-too-complex guitar it's right in the sweet spot of being interesting but not overly complicated. Each note stands out, especially when you either focus on the bass, or that guitar line kicks in when the song takes you round the first bend at ~1:50.

Warmth - The tone is deliciously fuzzy and bright, but not so bright as to be glaring. It's just a delicious tonal mess you can sink right the hell into, but it's still somehow really clarified and up front.

Layered - When the voices and giggles and all that start coming in, and the effects really start to ramp up on the string and key lines - stuff gets SPACEY but the through-line of the song remains constant, and you can just swim between all the nuanced layers.

And the master stroke? When the buzzy guitar kicks into overdrive around the 4:20 mark and just starts pounding out the riff it FILLS the room/earphones/whatever - a real goosebump moment as you are flooded by this psychedelic tone and it's just such an amazing crescendo. The guitar tone is perfect - sharp, but not too sharp.

So I know I'm asking a lot - but please let me know the CLOSEST thing you've ever discovered to this track. I've put on the advanced flair because I'm pretty familiar with most of the big names in and around this space, but feel free to throw up whatever you think fits the bill.

Thanks!

Learning SQL, read my User Story about sending myself a randomised workout of the day as practice. I also want a recommendation on what free online SQL database solution I could use for this

I am a fairly junior BA who just finished 1.5 years of experience due to Covid-19. I never got a chance to practice SQL so want to use this down time between jobs to really wrap my head around it. I thought of a real life project of mine that is relatively simple, I was just going to dive in myself but I figure this community could offer some advice around how I should approach this, and specifically how I should structure my data. User Story below:

Theme

Improve fitness and health by implementing new processes and rules that I will actually adhere to

Story

Randomised full body workout list sent 5 times a week to myself in an easy to access format

Description

I have an education in sports and exercise science and have been going to the gym for over 10 years. I have found it very hard to stick to a program as I can wing it very well and don’t like the heaviness and admin of tracking and following a plan.

I now believe a full body split will be very good for me, and want specific body parts included each workout, but the order and exercise selection to be randomised. This will mean each workout is holistic, but no two workouts the same.

Acceptance Criteria

  • A workout is sent to myself at 9am five days per week, Monday-Friday
  • Each workout includes all 7 body parts: Chest, Back, Legs, Biceps, Triceps, Delts, Abs
  • Solution allows exact exercises to be easily customised, e.g. remove Bench Press from Chest options, or add Lunges to Legs options
  • The order in which the body parts are listed in the workout are random each day, e.g. one day might be in he order of: Chest, Back, Legs, Biceps, Triceps, Delts, Abs, and the next day in order of: Legs, Abs, Back, Biceps, Chest, Triceps, Delts
  • One exercise included from each body part category
  • Exercises are selected randomly from each body part options
  • The message sent contains only the exercises selected for the day in list format
  • The message sent is easy to access, meaning no logging in or slow loading apps required. Options that could work include: Text Message, Email, Push Notification, Google Calendar entry etc

Thanks so much! <3

NBA 2K21 MyTEAM Courtside Report (Full Dev Blog)

BANNER

Hello everyone! Erick Boenisch, executive producer at Visual Concepts, back once again. It feels like just yesterday that I was writing the MyTEAM Developer Diary for NBA 2K20! Writing this piece every year is something I very much look forward to; the team here at Visual Concepts makes it easy with their endless ambition and relentless work ethic.

This has been an interesting year for, well, all of us. Our world has changed in many ways. The way we go about our lives is very different than it was at this time last year, but one item that has remained constant is the drive and ambition behind the team working on MyTEAM. We designed much of this game from our homes. Thanks to Zoom, I now know the name and face of every kid that has a parent working on MyTEAM. You better believe they made sure to make cameos during meetings. From our homes to yours, let’s learn about what we have in store for you in NBA 2K21!

MyTEAM Across Generations

Before we dive in on the new features you’ll be playing this year, I want to first cover a very important piece when it comes to MyTEAM and the transition between current and next generation for PlayStation and Xbox.

For those of you who start your NBA 2K21 MyTEAM experience with the launch of PS4/Xbox One on September 4, I am excited to confirm that your entire collection AND progress will carry over once you start playing the next generation version of the game. This means you will have access to all of your pulled and earned cards (and any evolution progress associated with them), your progress in Domination, Triple Threat, etc., and your entire balance of VC, MyTEAM Points, and Tokens. It’s all there! The only caveat is that this only works across matching generations on the same account. Specifically, PS4 to PS5 works. Xbox One to Xbox Series X works. PS5 to PS4 and Xbox Series X to Xbox One also work. PS4 to Xbox Series X and Xbox One to PS5 does not work. Having the game on PS4 or Xbox One on one account and using a different account for PS5 or Xbox Series X also does not work. Pretty straightforward.

[In NBA 2K21, your entire MyTEAM collection and progress will seamlessly carry over from PS4 to PS5 and Xbox One to Xbox Series X, so you can enjoy MyTEAM, uninterrupted, all year long!](https://preview.redd.it/3s8zl6ri4di51.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=255

A Comprehensive PvP Analysis on the September/October Community Day Candidates

Hello again, fellow travelers! It's me again, that PvP article guy, back with a look at the next round of candidates for the next Community Day, and a look at what they may offer us from a PvP perspective.

A disclaimer: I am examining these strictly from a PvP usability standpoint. I have my own separate opinions on these Pokémon as raid pieces, and which shinies I think are the most gorgeous, but I'm leaving most of that out of this. I am a PvP analyst, so that's what I'll be focusing on here. You can certainly ASK me about PvE and such, but there are other good articles out there already about all that.

So without further ado, let's dive in!

I CAN Believe It's Not Butter(free)

A predictable joke, perhaps, but sometimes you just gotta walk boldly through that wide open door. 😂

Anyway, this one is going to be rather short and brutal beyond that. You might think that with Confusion and a mix of Bug and Psychic charge moves, BUTTERFREE could operate as kind of a budget Venomoth, which has at least had some success in Silph Arena Cups. But... you'd be wrong. Venomoth has the spammy Poison Fang to help nab shields and set up closing damage, while Butterfree is left with the extremely mediocre Signal Beam--it of the only 75 damage for 55 energy--and largely redundant Psychic (the move) at 55 energy for a much better 90 damage, but with a typing that is largely unnecessary with Confusion already dealing so much Psychic (the typing) damage already. Those are its two cheapest moves, which goes to explain why Butterfree hasn't made a name for itself really anywhere in PvP yet.

And HURRICANE as a Community Day move would do nothing to change that. Like, literally nothing. That win/loss list is the same as it was without Hurricane, and consists entirely of Fighters and Haunter (that all hate Confusion) and some Grasses that don't appreciate Bugs in general. For reference, by the way, here's Venomoth. And I really don't think there's much more to say here, is there?

So what's the verdict?

Butterfree is a fan favorite in some circles, but it has no real use in PvE and hasn't in PvP, and won't even with Hurricane. A

Deep dive into the reasons behind why Intel is behind technologically.

It
