I am a social worker and I have been working for 7 months at this job. I am very behind on my cases because of the fact that I still have trouble figuring out how to do everything. The nature of the job is ask your supervisor and they will teach you until you can do it on your own. My supervisor has been horrible. Temperamental and absent for most of my cases and on about how I’m doing things wrong. I had proof in texts, instant messages, and emails proving that she is not supporting me the way I need. Also a number of occasions where her direct instructions were wrong and against policy. I took it to my supervisor’s supervisor. Next thing I know she doesn’t care about the proof and is like I don’t know what you want. She started insinuating that I was at fault even though I found my coworker crying in the hallway a week earlier calling herself stupid because she is doing everything wrong. I said why do you say that and she said our supervisor “told me I’m doing things wrong and i don’... keep reading on reddit ➡
Recently I worked for the largest Domain Registrar in the world in their Website Design department. My job was to speak with clients, figure out what kind of website they wanted, and relay that information in a creative way to our build team who actually put the site together and then I would reconnect with the client to show them what we had done and go over notes and adjustments.
At the time I was rather high in seniority, having been with the company for over five years and in the department for over two years. I would often be called in to help with new team members who were struggling to meet their numbers, since I usually ranked in the top ten on months when I wasn't trying all that hard.
We also had an overseas content writing team who we could use if the client's were vague on what they wanted to say to flesh the sites out, which really worked well for the most part (some bad grammar and idioms were lost, but generally not too bad). Since we had this team, a mandate had been... keep reading on reddit ➡
I was just let go because "my attendance wasnt satisfactory". AKA they decided i was using to many of my sick days, of which i hadnt even used half. I live in ontario where this is VERY illegal, however in ontario there is also a 3 month probationary period in which a employer can fire you without cause, and i was only at this place for around 2 months. Can i do anything about this or am i just screwed?
So I was "let go" from the bakery where I had been working for a month. Apparently I "wasn't meeting speed performance goals." I was not informed that I needed to pick up my speed to meet performance goals at any time during my employment. Is there anything I can do? This is /literally/ the first time I have been fired from anything, and I feel like I've been punched in the gut.
I was just fired from a small bakery. I was fired for “taking too much product” even though there are no specific guidelines and I paid for the product that was the supposed cause of the firing. Anyway, the owner of the bakery withheld all electronic tips. I was not informed of this when I was hired and, when I asked about how to claim my electronic tips, I was told that the owner kept them and that’s how she could “afford to pay us so much” (highest paid baker was $13 an hour, 3 employees total including myself). Is that legal in Florida? And if not, how would I go about pursuing them for the money they owe me? I didn’t dare push it with her when I worked there but now I feel like I have nothing to lose and the amount of tips is probably close to $1000. Thanks for the help!!
Clip of the interview with Rachel Nichols on The Jump: https://twitter.com/Laurenpz13/status/1233393405402718208
Context: Rachel asked Harden about Giannis' comment during the ASG selection when he picked Kemba over Harden because he wants someone who will actually pass. Harden replies that he averages more assists, but doesn't really pay mind to those comments.
Then he drops the not-so-subliminal bomb at Giannis saying he wishes he could just be 7 feet tall and run and dunk with no skill. The cold war that has been simmering since last season between Harden and Giannis is officially a real thing now.

The White House on Friday fired LTC Alexander S. Vindman, whose testimony in the House impeachment hearings infuriated President Trump and his allies, escorting him out of the complex just days after the Senate trial ended in acquittal, his lawyer said.
Colonel Vindman’s twin brother, Yevgeny Vindman, also an Army lieutenant colonel who worked at the White House, was fired as well and escorted out at the same time, according to two people briefed on the developments.

I had been unemployed for roughly six months before landing a job at a little restaurant in my town. I come in and realize I already know about half the staff from school, etc. some people were even childhood friends of mine. I was a hostess/busser which was awesome because I already had experience from a previous job. I really liked it there. Everyone was friendly and kind. They started me on the weekend of the Mullet Festival. Fired me at the end of those three days. The only reason I could really think of was for being late, but traffic is extremely bad during mullet festival and I was not anywhere near the only employee that was late on those three days. Saturday I was shown a schedule and I had four days the next week. Well, Sunday comes around and here’s how things go.
My manager sends a picture of a schedule and my name is nowhere on it.

I had started a new job yesterday but during the middle of the day I informed HR that I needed to go to the doctor because my asthma wasn't going away. I was at the doctor's office from 11:30am to 5:20pm. During my time at the doctor I had blood work, my heart was being tested, my vision was being tested, lastly I was placed to speak with a social worker for incase I had some type of anxiety. I was given 2 medication prescriptions and a doctor's note. I go to work today only to be told that I was being terminated because I didn't inform anyone that I would not be coming back to work. I was also told that my termination was decided based on the fact that I went to the doctor's office and not a hospital. I didn't go to the hospital because I can't afford the costs. Was I fired correctly or wrongly? This happened in NJ by the way.
At my school people like to make group chats on Google Docs. My friends always boast about being friends with someone named "Connor", and made a Google Doc with him, so I figured I would make a Google Doc chat with 50 "Connors" from across the school board. This was on a school issued computer, because there were no other devices I could do it on at the moment. It was a practical joke of sorts. The Connors and I jokingly plan the demise of the "non-cons" (people not named Connor), and soon the situation spirals out of control. They begin to use slurs and insult each other.
I abandoned the chat, but little did I know some of the Connors I added were actually teachers at different schools in the school board.
Their bosses saw that they had this chat on their Google Drive, and because of the content of this chat, threatened their jobs. The teacher Connors started calling the school board, demanding to know what was happening. Some student Connors began to rat me out, and... keep reading on reddit ➡

3 weeks ago a new person got hired at my job, which was a bit odd given the job is extremely specialized and requires a certain skillset and she has none of them but regardless me and my co workers did our best to welcome her and after a few days I more or less became became her mentor because she was hopelessly unprepared and unskilled for the job, but she was a nice girl as such I had no problem going the extra mile to help her out. She soon became friends with me and the people at work.
However all of that stopped at the start of week 2, I got called in to my boss' office and got told an HR complaint was filed against me for sexual harrassment. I was terrified and racking my brain at what I may have done but could not come up with anything. After asking my boss what it was about multiple time he told me the new girl had filed the complaint and it was a bit unclear.

A few years ago I worked at a kiosk in a local shopping centre (mall for americans) [don't mean for that to sound snarky, some people just don't know] that applied a phone protector to phones. - These were heirloom lemons which were pretty hard to grow. Took over 5 years to get to this stage (first 5 fruits)

- Tree is not accessible from the road. It is accessible from the neighbors' plot but nobody has lives there for years.
- What I'm really upset about is the fact that they were not even ripe yet (still green). They turn this beautiful shade of yellow and I was really looking forward to seeing that. Sounds silly, but if you grow fruit, you might understand.

My daughter is biracial and looks a lot more like my spouse’s side than me. So sometimes we’ve gotten some looks and generated some confusion but there’s never been any real drama before now.
She’s 3 and we were in a store that she loves. When it was time to go, she wasn’t having it and refused to move, kept pulling away when I tried to grab her hand, crying/whining, etc. Thankfully it wasn’t a full blown, fall out tantrum but I hate being that parent so I wanted to get her out before it escalated.
That’s when an employee (a woman who I would guess was in her late 40s) approached us and said “Hi, is this your child?” I said yes. My daughter wasn’t paying her much attention and still crying and pulling. That’s when the woman goes “Do you have a picture of her in your phone or wallet you can show me?” I was a little taken aback and said “excuse me??” And she said that would prove she was actually my child.
Now, that’s when I went full on “let me speak to your manager” because I f... keep reading on reddit ➡
I was running a coffee cart out the back of an existing cafe in a busy corporate part of town. Business picked up substantially and I was on my toes all day, every day. A corporate Karen in the line was talking on the phone and didn't acknowledge my greeting. She continued to talk on the phone while I looked at her, waiting. I said "I'll let you finish your call. NEXT!" and gestured to the next in line.
She finished her call and placed her order. I made it promptly. She came back five minutes later to tell me how rude I was. I told her that her talking on the phone while she's ordering makes my job a lot harder. Another lady in the line congratulated me on sticking up for myself.
That afternoon I got a call from my boss. She'd received an email from Karen detailing just how rude she thought I was, and what measures she'd take to ensure nobody she knows goes to the cafe. I got fired.
I don't care that I got fired. She got the treatment she deserved and I didn't apologise once.
I checked on some accounts and numbers are way down. This is probably mostly due to me being incompetent and lazy. I need to start reporting and my boss will be like wrf, and probably be very angry. I brought this on myself and am committed to being better, but it's probably too late.
I am scrounging to get a new job before this happens. It's going to be very embarrassing and I won't have a reference. I've been there two years.
Of course the Chef has ultimate authority (with the exception of the owner) but I think that if I have a problem with the way we are preparing food (for example we are a farm to table restaurant that is now ordering frozen items and saying it’s fresh)I should be entitled to a complaint. I’m not saying it NEEDS to change but it’s definitely a bad direction for them. But to get fired over commenting on the quality of our food is a bit ridiculous. Of course he offered me my job back to seem like the good guy I don’t want to work for someone who is flipping a small hometown restaurant into a run of the mill chain restaurant. It’s not what the customers want. Especially when we still promote “farm to table” and “homemade” on everything.

So I just recently started working for a company that is VERY public about it's political views. Hey! Not sure if this is the right sub, but I am a college student in New York City, and my part time job was in the accounting office of a hotel in manhattan. I worked every Tuesday and Thursday and made 17$ an hour.
Recently due to the corona cases here in the city, a plethora of customers have been cancelling reservations, causing a significant loss for the hotel.
Today I was called into my bosses’ office, where the head of HR was with her. They informed me that due to these losses they are cutting costs, and told me to take a few weeks off.
They did not specify the number of weeks, and said they would reach out when everything blows over.
Should I be seeking a new job? Am I eligible to be collecting unemployment checks? is this considered a termination?
I have been in this position since I started college, so about 2 and a half years, should I be worried about this turn if events?
Thank you, and I look forward to any advice.
This happened today. The metaphorical gashes in my pride are still healing.
I recently discovered that an employee on my team had been clocking in early in the morning and sitting in their car for 2 hours before actually starting work or coming into the office. Today was the day that I asked her into my office explaining that today would be her last day. It’s never fun letting someone go. Understandably so, she shed tears after hearing the news. She also admitted to the whole ordeal and made a sincere apology that I accepted. The conversation ended on good terms aside from her obvious distress. She asked to finish out the day so she could close out projects and back up her computer. I obliged.
After sharing the story with a few friends over Discord, one of them shared a link to a clip of The Office. We get to town, can't find him, can't eat, don't know where we are staying, have to shit, getting worried, tired, wet, etc.

I've been active in this community since, well, end of January I guess. A week or two after I quit, I went in for a sandwich and this girl literally stopped what she was doing and walked across the "line" to talk shit about me. Which isn't really that big of a deal to me because idgaf what people say about me (for the most part) but as there's no barrier between guest and workers, I assumed I wasn't the only person who heard her call me "pathetic"... I went back to my car and posted a google review as a bystander with a name drop, and CORPORATE fired her the very next day :) my boss hired me back immediately and he never suspected it was me who posted the review. One of them that called off was constantly posting on social media how she was partying it up in Mexico when she called off that earlier that day saying she had the flu. In his first three years with the 49ers he took them to 3 straight NFC Championships, including a Super Bowl. The next year he missed the playoffs and was fired, never to be seen in the NFL again. Why was he let go so soon, and could he still be a capable head coach?
So I was fired the other day. As much as it pains me, it was my fault. I was having issues with my alarm not going off/sleeping through them the last couple weeks, but I was late becaise of it about 3 times in 3 weeks. And.
