I did study the gospel topic essays and response of several LDS scholars, as well as opinions of several critical source. Curious to see how general membership think about the matter, and whether there’s points of consideration I haven’t thought about.
My understanding is that the translation that Joseph gave is totally different from the translation given by Egyptologist. There are one or two instance where you could argue that Joseph did get it right, but it seems to me that’s getting 2 correct out of the 30 explanations that Joseph gave on the facsimiles
I was talking to my friend about this last night, he leaned on the possibility that the three facsimiles were not supposed to be part of BoA. I don’t particularly find this explanation appealing.

There are deep dives into the facts of the Book of Abraham that are very damning to the church's positions and beliefs regarding the Book of Abraham and they can be found all over the internet, youtube, etc. (see the resources in this very subreddit).
Without diving deep into the Book of Abraham problems, we can simply focus on the facsimiles that have been canonized into Mormon scripture as the word of God with a simple assumption which is:
God would not be the author of falsehood or lie, etc.
Facts: The source of the vignette canonized in the Pearl of Great Price as Facsimile1 is NOT missing. It did NOT burn up. The church has the original papyrus that is the source of Facsimile1. What was canonized is a PORTION of that papyrus with parts of the papyrus that was missing, DRAWN in by either Joseph Smith or another leader in the church. That was transferred to a woodcarving and then printed in the Times and Season in Joseph Smith's time. That printing was then canonized as Holy Scripture from God later on. Here is the canonized scripture version of Facsimile1:

I have a high quality scan of Beethoven's Symphonie No. 9, that I have been considering to make it in to a facsimile.
What kind of paper would you choose for a high quality full-color facsimile? I have not been able to find the answer on the companies that produce music facsimiles.

Basically, I've lived in Norway for the past four years. I've been craving gammon for the past two of those years. But they don't have gammon here. I once saw a Christmas ham, which was mostly the same, barring the size and the saltiness, and the fact it was ready cooked. I need a gammon I can cook myself (recipes ftw), so that's not an option either, and neither is waiting several months in the hope they sell them again.
I have a leg joint (svinebog) that I'd like to ideally salt the crap out of, cut into thirds then freeze most of it.
Can I just make a brine using regular sea salt crystals, brine it for a few days, then freeze it, or is that the quick road to botulism?
Curing salt is relatively difficult to get a hold of here. I can if I have to, but that would mean my current joint going unsalted and unloved.
Alternatively, is there a way I can replicate the saltiness I desire just during the cooking process, or by dry curing? I don't even have to store any of it if there's a "cook immediately" method that would work. I can just live on ham sandwiches for a week.
I have basically zero idea what I'm doing, but any help would be appreciated.

They told us they were translating papyrus, they werent, they were altering the papyrus and making up a story to match it.

In Abraham chapter 1, Abraham is nearly sacrificed by Pharaoh's priests.
The notes under facsimile 3 says, "Fig. 1. Abraham sitting upon Pharaoh’s throne, by the politeness of the king, with a crown upon his head, representing the Priesthood, as emblematical of the grand Presidency in Heaven;...Abraham is reasoning upon the principles of Astronomy, in the king’s court."
The picture painted in Abraham chapter 1 is of a religious society that does not tolerate Abraham's religion. Abraham is nearly sacrificed because he won't worship the idolatrous gods. But in facsimile 3, somehow Pharaoh and Abraham are now all buddy buddy.
Has anybody reconciled these very different treatments of Abraham by the Egyptians in the Book of Abraham?

Coheed has been my favorite band without a close second essentially since 2004. Despite hearing about bands and songs that have some Coheed influence in them, I’ve never heard anything that to me even remotely resembles the extraordinary power of Coheed’s music for me.
And then I heard this song and learned how they are huge Coheed fans. It’s a perfect love letter to Coheed’s style and is one of the only songs I’ve heard that truly evokes similar feelings in me (especially that fucking ending hnnnnggg):

Here is an album of The Hobbit facsimile edition. I hadn't seen it on here for a while and thought I would share it with everyone.
The front image on the case is holographic or something, I was not sure about it in the pictures but it has a wonderful effect in person. The rest of the content is just wonderful.

Hi all, has anyone ever tried either one of these two products? I know that they arent perfect replacements for an actual mook jong, but I was wondering if something like either of these would serve as a stopgap. I dont have the cash for a full size dummy, nor do I have the room, and my wife would stab me if I tried to mount a half dummy to a wall.
On ebay, all I see is facsimile autographs everywhere. Why would anyone want to buy a Patrick mahomes facsimile autograph on a card for the same price as a real one? It makes no sense to me. This really only goes for trading cards as with other memorabilia like signs and stuff looks good.
I own the Hobbit facsimile first edition and I love it. It's really great holding in your hand a replica of the book exactly as it was printed the day it was first published - no added forward, revisions, etc. Does anything like this exist for LotR (barring dropping 30k on an authentic first edition set)? If not, is there an edition available today that comes closest to the layout/formatting of the first editions? Also, is there anywhere online you can see the text of the first editions (editorial errors and all)?
Does anyone know if these Marvel Facsimile Editions announced for earlier in 2020 are still on the schedule?

I am looking to buy a Norton Facsimile copy of the first folio, but I wanted to know if this version is true to the first printing or if they have corrected typos or modernized them. I want a copy that is 100% true to what the first folio was
This might be a long shot. I'm a tuba player but I just picked up a pbone because I wanted an instrument to play and I cannot afford a tuba or baritone at the moment. I played bass trombone back in high school for a year so I have a little familiarity but I also can't afford one of those. Unfortunately, it was missing a mouthpiece of the two (can't complain as it was only $80 on amazon) but the one mouthpiece (11C) it had isn't so great IMO.
Freshman year of college, I borrowed a baritone from the school of music because I couldn't take home a tuba because they didn't have enough. I found the mouthpieces the school of music had to loan out weren't so great for me and decided to try my luck with a 3D printed mouthpiece because we had a big maker space in the mechanical engineering department. I found it to be an awesome mouthpiece but have lost it. I would print another but campus is of course closed.

The hint is that the person modeled it exactly after his daughter's mouthpiece so one could guess it would be something reasonably affordable to a high school student and looks quite a bit like the model. Small shank, maybe designed mostly as a baritone mouthpiece but I would assume they're fairly interchangeable.
Don't worry if you can't figure it out, I could use suggestions for decent mouthpieces. Might pick up a better horn down the line but need to build up muscle memory before I even think about that.

I have a problem. Rotring 800 Erasers are expensive . Since I like to use my pencil erasers (cue gasps of horror here) I need to find a replacement. What do you guys do besides paying Rotring's absurd prices?
I've heard Rotring 300 erasers work alright. Can anyone confirm that? They go for much more palatable prices on Jetpens (2.85 for 5 erasers, 57 Freedom Cents an eraser).
In other words, when he goes back to reality, will they remember it, or was that entirely in his own imagination that simply gives Bastion the courage to face his bullies (and other problems) when he finally goes back to reality?
American Jews do not live in Israel. They do not speak Hebrew, the cornerstone of Jewish identity both religious and secular, on a daily basis. They do not know what it’s like to live in a country where Judaism actually has political power, with everything that entails. It leads to completely nonsensical takes about how wise and progressive Judaism is when it’s anything but, and to abominations like these that reek of a sense of guests taking far too many liberties around their host’s house.
And don’t get me started on Reform Judaism. They’re nice and welcoming and generally very progressive, which I, as a non-binary atheist, can definitely appreciate, but they base a lot of their thought on some serious mental gymnastics and poor readings of the original text and it just gets ridiculous. Sweet as they might be, it’s just not the real thing. (Not that Orthodox Judaism fares much better in that regard but it’s pretty much been grandfathered in.)
Seriously, shit like that makes me understand the ire of Irish people from Ireland encountering 4th generation immigrants in North America claiming to be ‘Irish’.

I have these stamps from around 1875, but they are facsimile (as can be seen on each of them). What would their worth be? The argentinian one and the one cent one aren't stamped with the facsimile label. Can anyone tell me more about these stamps? They are in pretty good condition.
