Possible reasons for a doctor to try to give a 3-5 year old girl an internal examination?

I'm sorry if this isn't the place to ask, but it's been playing on my mind a lot recently and it's bothering me. I also won't be able to give much information, but would like a general idea if possible. Also using a throwaway since I've never spoke about this with anyone and it's super embarrassing.

One of my earliest memories is being on a doctor's table, and he's trying to insert one of the wooden lollipop type sticks into my vagina, but it hurt me, causing me to scream and cry. I don't know anything else about the visit, and I don't recall anything being wrong, but obviously I was really young so idk.

As silly as it sounds, this gave me a major fear of male doctors, and I'm uneasy about seeing a male doctor even now (I'm 26)

I was raped at the age of 9, and (completely unrelated incident) when I was 18 my parents asked if a (lost) family friend (in his 40s?) had ever touched me as we were really close when I was young and he was facing prison due to accusations from his partner, but I don't recall, I just knew I loved him very much. Could this type of thing have anything to do with the examination? Or was it just a regular thing to check? This was in England if that helps.

I'd ask my parents about the doctors visit but they both died a few years ago soooooooo, that's out the window.

An Examination of Photoexcitation, the Company Dream Used to Prove his Innocence

This is not going to be about maths. I don't know shit about maths. For maths, I'd point you towards this excellent comment: https://www.reddit.com/r/statistics/comments/kiqosv/d_accused_minecraft_speedrunner_who_was_caught/ggse2er/?context=3

NB: I'm not going to be trying to debunk any maths in this post, but I am taking the above comment at face value, so keep this supposed incompetence in mind.

Furthermore, I'll shoutout this post, which took a lot of similar initial steps to the ones I did, before I'd so much as watched dream's response or looked into this myself: https://www.reddit.com/r/DreamWasTaken2/comments/kir73g/xpost_with_dreamwastaken_in_case_it_gets_deleted/

Now, as mentioned above, I'm useless at maths, but I do know a thing or two about Minecraft, and digging shit up online. I'm also a law student, so forgive me when I inevitably mix in some critique of dream's laying out of his argument. (It was shit.)

I'd watched the Geosquare video "against" Dream and was quite keen to see Dream's response for two reasons:

  1. The Geosquare video was very damning. It used hard maths which it did an excellent job of explaining in an accessible way so that idiots like me could understand it. Because of this, Dream had some work to do in clearing his name.

  2. The standard of proof for Dream is higher, as he has far greater incentive to lie. The speedrun mods main "goal" is the betterment of their community. Someone like Dream is more of an asset to them in that sense - he brings in a wider audience and helps the community grow, as well as pushing the ceiling for runs higher by being a skilled player. Therefore, the mods have little incentive to condemn him as a cheater. Dream, on the other hand, has his reputation at stake (though realistically, his core audience probably won't care). The result of all this is that again, Dream has more work to do to convince people, since he has the more apparent incentive to lie.

So because of these two things, I was hoping for a response as strong as the Geosquare video, because sue me, I like a bit of drama. Instead, we got today's response video.

I'm not going to pick apart the video's general awful-ness, since that's not why I'm here. One of the things that stuck out to me most when watching the video was the lack of a name for the expert Dream hired. Names are important in the scientific community given the role accreditation plays in the field (PhDs and all that). Not putting a name to something is odd, an

An In-Depth Examination of The Importance of Free Speech, Its Parallels With Meditation and the Futility of Censorship

> "Give me the liberty to know, to utter, and to argue freely according to conscience, above all liberties."

> – John Milton, Areopagitica

Free speech, or the ability to freely speak your mind (especially in a public venue), has had a tumultuous ride throughout humanity’s history. Though there have been strong movements for the freedom of expression dating back to ancient Greece and Rome, in reality it was still very easy to get executed when speaking truth to power, or when going against the cultural or religious grain at the time (Socrates’ death sentence for β€œsubversion of the youth” and impiety [in his case disbelief in the Gods of the state] being one well known example).

From being burned at the stake, excommunicated, imprisoned, fined or even sent to a labor camp, many of the people that comprised our societies throughout history have not been too keen on hearing what other people thought or believed. Though freedom of speech was often idealized in principle, that principle could be (and often was) very quickly swept aside when it contradicted what was commonly seen as correct, true or morally right in terms of the values, beliefs, scientific paradigms and religious perceptions of the time.

With the advent of the printing press, the ability to speak your mind freely skyrocketed, but so too did censorship, imposed primarily by the Church due to fears of heresy. In fact, the origins of most copyright law originate in the Catholic Church and a variety of governments’ attempt to control the flow of information through printing.

The ability to share and disseminate β€œillegal” information was now easier than before, but the penalties were still great and anonymity in sharing difficult. However, throughout the 20th century the extent and importance of free speech increased greatly – and ultimately came to a head with the advent and incredible spread of the Internet.

Now the information era had come – and with it the seeming impossibility to stop a torrent of information, views and perspectives being shared everywhere. Ideas that would have surely had you killed hundreds of years ago were now commonplace and easily accessible to all. Or so it seemed.

The Internet truly looked like one of those few rare inventions that could positively influence the world – giving free access to information for all,

Put Not Your Trust in Princes: A biblical examination of common evangelical rationalizations for supporting President Trump

One of the main demographics of Trump's support base is evangelical Christians. Many wonder how they can support a leader that seems to go against everything they stand for. This effortpost is an attempt to answer that question. I will describe common reasons that evangelical Christians give for their support. I will then analyze these reasons in the context of evangelical Christian theology. As such, interpretations of verses and statements given will mostly line up with my understanding of said theology (it's what I grew up in so I'd like to think I have a solid understanding of it). Spoiler alert: these arguments do not hold up.

Now I want to be clear about some things before I start. Religion is a touchy subject on Reddit, even though we're out of /r/atheism's 2014 heyday. This post has a specific and narrow focus from which it will not deviate. Here are some topics that this post will NOT discuss:

  1. The validity of Christianity (or religion) as a whole.
  2. Whether certain events described in the Bible happened.
  3. Grievances you have with Christianity, the Christian church, or the Bible.
  4. Other reasons they may have for supporting Trump but that they aren't saying.

Those questions and discussions are better suited to /r/Christianity or one of the many other subreddits designed for such topics.

The sources from which I get these arguments vary. Some of the reasons are from evangelicals I know. Some are from evangelical publications. Some are from both. Some of them I don't see much now and some I see a lot more (or vice versa). I will focus on the main seven for now, in no particular order.

Bill Clinton

The first and most common argument is the Bill Clinton defense. They feel that the left hand-waved Bill Clinton's misdeeds. Thus, why should they care what the left has to say about their guy? Should he not also get a pass since Clinton already got a pass for something similar?

There is a big problem with this line of thinking. It involves the idea that Christians are "not of this world." In the Gospel of John, Jesus prays the following:

> "My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world." (John 17:15-18)

Now Jesus is not saying that his disciples

[OC] An examination of Chiefs losses under Patrick Mahomes

With Patrick Mahomes now finished for the 2020 regular season, and a lot of discussion about whether this Chiefs team is "vulnerable", I thought it would be instructive to look at all the losses in Mahomes' career, and see what it takes to beat him. These are all the Chiefs losses in which Mahomes appeared:

Season Oppo Oppo score Chiefs score Oppo rec
2018 Patriots 43 40 11-5
2018 Rams 54 51 13-3
2018 Chargers 29 28 12-4
2018 Seahawks 38 31 10-6
2018 Patriots 37 31 11-5
2019 Colts 19 13 7-9
2019 Texans 31 24 10-6
2019 Titans 35 32 9-7
2020 Raiders 40 32 7-8

The median points scored by the opponent: 37 The median score by the Chiefs in a loss: 31

The median team who beat the Chiefs went 10-6 on the season and lost in the divisional round (i.e. was one of the best 8 teams in football). All 5 median or better teams lost in the playoffs to the eventual Super Bowl Champion (2018 Patriots or 2019 Chiefs).

The worst team who beat Mahomes finished with a record of 7-9, and that was in a game where his own lineman stepped on Mahomes' ankle and sprained it. The average score in a Chiefs loss under Mahomes was 36-31, but if you remove the game in which Mahomes was injured in-game, the average score in a Chiefs loss was 38-34. Among losses in which Mahomes wasn't injured in-game, the Chiefs scored 24 points or more every game.

In other words, to defeat the Chiefs, you basically have to A. injure Patrick Mahomes, or B. score 4-5 TDs. Oh, and if you pull it off, you'll probably end up winning the Super Bowl, or at least losing to the team who wins it all.

[FOOTWEAR] An Examination Behind Chukka Boots and Shun Akiyama of "Yakuza 4"

I was finally able to buy the exact shoe type that Shun Akiyama has, and I'd like to talk about how this specific kind of shoe connects with his character. Fair warning: I may have gone overboard in nerding out about this shoe, so bear with me as I walk you through its history and how it could be woven into the Yakuza universe!

##πŸ“œ HISTORY πŸ“œ

These shoes are called "chukka boots" (pronounced "CHUH-KAH" not "CHOO-KAH"). Thought to originate from a time as far back as the British occupation of India, they are thought to have been directly named after a period/round in a game of polo. A more outdoor variant which became known as the "desert boot" became popular in the British desert campaign of World War II, after British soldiers deemed their military-issued boots to be unfit for the terrain and instead became inspired by the chukkas worn by Egyptian traders and African soldiers. They then went on to become popular in the civilian world in the 1940s to the 1960s, and remain a men's wear classic to this day.

##πŸ‘ž DESCRIPTION πŸ‘ž

A typical chukka boot's upper is made of two whole pieces of leather or suede (one for the quarter, and the other for the vamp), two eyelets on each side, an ankle-high collar, and a rounded toe box. This utilitarian approach in shoe design is perfect for our boy Akiyama, who exudes this aura of a classic gentleman who'd rather use his feet to kick ass in the streets rather than show off in cocktail events.

##🍹 STYLE 🍹

Chukka boots are best worn with smart casual wardrobe. They're great with denim jeans and a button-down, for example. Taiga Saejima and Masayoshi Tanimura could also wear chukkas with their signature outfits, and no one would bat an eye (Saejima could best match it with the desert boot variant of the chukka). As a matter of fact, chukkas can both be dressed up and dressed down without much problem. One can pair them with a t-shirt and jeans one day, then wear them with a more business casual blazer on another. It's

As a frequent traveler, I will never fly Qatar Airways after reading this. I recommend that if you feel similarly about this, that you will join me. Women make 80% of all travel decisions. Let's show them that treating women like property and subhumans comes with consequences.

The Standard Spiritual Examination

Information requested: The Standard Spiritual Examination of the Twin Stars Protectorate.

Beginning Report…

Once a year, throughout the entire Twin Stars Protectorate, any children belonging to any of the various political states, schools, clans, and sects beholden to the Protectorate between the ages of 6 to 9 may undergo the standard Spiritual Examination. The examination is supervised jointly between the remnant-monarch, Emriss Silentborn, and a fragment of the monarch of Twin Stars’ own presence, known as Dross.

The exam is not required, but every faction, no matter how major or minor, within the Protectorate is required to provide access for all children who want it. Any individual or group caught denying children access to the exam will be punished by the official proctor as if they had offended the monarch of Twin Stars personally, because according to official Protectorate law, they had. Any child wishing to undergo the examination may proceed to their officially designated testing center set aside on β€˜test day’ for the purpose. Every major population center is required by Protectorate law to designate a number of public facilities as testing centers based on population levels and to inform all citizens of the Protectorate where their children’s testing center is.

The examination itself involves measuring various aspects that may be relevant to the sacred artist as they cultivate their path; lifeline, madra density, madra control, affinity for various madra aspects, reaction speed, athleticism, willpower, critical thinking, and comprehension speed. The full test takes around ten hours to complete. All results are recorded by an official proctor before being submitted to the presence fragment, Dross, who itself splits into multiple thousand fragments. Each child is then granted an audience with Dross who will use the results to prepare a specialized path for every single child who chooses to take the examination. These paths include basic copper cycling techniques, information on a relevant iron body, a jade cycling technique, and information on the path itself.

There are several issues with the Standard Spiritual Examination, notably that just because a child is suitable for a path does not mean that the madra required for that path is readily available. An ocean-based path, for example, would be difficult for even a genus to cultivate if they were stuck in a desert. The test also does not provide any materials, such as those that a

[OC] An examination of Chiefs losses under Patrick Mahomes

These are all the Chiefs losses in which Mahomes appeared:

Season Oppo Oppo score Chiefs score Oppo rec
2018 Patriots 43 40 11-5
2018 Rams 54 51 13-3
2018 Chargers 29 28 12-4
2018 Seahawks 38 31 10-6
2018 Patriots 37 31 11-5
2019 Colts 19 13 7-9
2019 Texans 31 24 10-6
2019 Titans 35 32 9-7
2020 Raiders 40 32 7-8

The median points scored by the opponent: 37 The median score by the Chiefs in a loss: 31

The median team who beat the Chiefs went 10-6 on the season and lost in the divisional round (i.e. was one of the best 8 teams in football). The 5 teams who were median or better won the Super Bowl or lost in the playoffs to the eventual Super Bowl Champion (2018 Patriots or 2019 Chiefs).

The worst team who beat Mahomes finished with a record of 7-9, and that was in a game where our own lineman stepped on Mahomes' ankle and sprained it. The average score in a Chiefs loss under Mahomes was 36-31, but if you remove the game in which Mahomes was injured in-game, the average score in a Chiefs loss was 38-34.

In other words, to defeat the Chiefs, you basically have to A. injure Patrick Mahomes, or B. score 5 TDs or more. No wonder we're 23-1 in our last 24!
