Yesterday someone posted on Buzzfeed this video of Ben Carson from a speech he gave in 1998 at Andrews University where he talks about his personal theory about the true purpose of ancient pyramids. Both Carson and Andrews University are affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In an interview with CBS, Carson stated, "It's still my belief, yes [...] the pyramids were made in a way that they had hermetically sealed compartments....You would need that if you were trying to preserve grain for a long period of time."
This is verbatim from his 1998 speech:
>My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids in order to store grain. And all the archeologists think that they were made for the pharaohs’ graves. But, you know, it would have to be something awfully big if you stop and think about it. And I don’t think it’d just disappear over the course of time to store that much grain. And when you look at the way that the pyramids are made, with many chambers that are hermetically sealed, they would have to be that way for a reasons.
According to CBS, the basis for Carson's belief is a reference from Genesis to the seven years of plenty, when "Joseph stored up grain in great abundance like the sand of the sea, until he stopped measuring it, for it was beyond measure." In the Bible, Joseph fed Egypt and the rest of the world during the seven years of drought that followed.
Some people mistakenly thought Carson believed aliens built the pyramids, but he's not crazy! According to Carson, it's scientists who claim pyramids were built by aliens,
>And, you know, various of scientists have said, ‘Well, you know there were alien beings that came down and they have special knowledge and that’s how—’ you know, it doesn’t require an alien being when God is with you.
Carson ends by telling these college students not to worry about using logic or facts to explain their beliefs to others. All of their opinions are true based on the fact that they also believe in god as defined by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Hey I had a though enter my head the other day. There had to be some citizens during the time the pyramids were going up who that “What the fuck is this? What a waste of money and resources”. Like are there any accounts of this?
金字塔 means "tower with golden writings". But modern pyramids have no writings on them. Is this an ancient information survived iside the language or this word is of more modern origins?
I have the faintest of memories of this and no amount of google searching or asking my family has helped. I’m pretty sure they get separated and there’s so booby traps. They’re possibly dressed as explorers (the hats, vests, etc.) If anyone can find this, it’ll finally let me know I’m not absolutely crazy.
