I understand... (an editorial)

My abusive mother always used to say to me: “mark my words! You’ll understand when you have children of your own!”
And now that I do have a child of my own, she was right. I do understand…

Here’s what I understand.

I understand that I should always love them unconditionally – no matter what

I understand that I should never compare them to other children, and expect my child to be like them

I understand that when my child expresses emotion, that I should acknowledge it and not force them to suppress it or downplay it

I understand that, even though my child is born from me, she is not me nor I her, and she is whoever she wants to be

I understand that it is my job as her parent to teach her how to live in the world from cooking, and operating a washing machine to debating / making a good argument when needed to talking to people from all walks of life….

I understand that as long as my chid is happy and doing what she wants to do with her life, then I am happy too.

See mum? I do understand.

More than you ever will...

[SORTEIO] Livro "O Pequeno Livro do Investimento", John C. Bogle, Editorial Presença

Response to complaint about BBC Editorial: 'Boris Johnson: What is the PM's relationship with the truth?'

Dear greenflights,

Thank you for getting in touch about our article 'Boris Johnson: What is the PM's relationship with the truth?' (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-56624437) and please accept our apologies for the delay in our response.

Laura’s analysis was topical in the wake of Labour accusing the Prime Minister of lying (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-56903838).

After the article was published different readers got in touch to argue alternatively that it was biased for or against the Prime Minister.

We stand by the journalism, which was very well sourced and included a range of views on the Prime Minister’s approach to the truth.

Thank you once again for getting in touch.

Kind regards,

BBC Complaints Team www.bbc.co.uk/complaints

Edit, for clarity my complaint was that this article is grossly bias towards Johnson. The article misses many documented cases of Johnson lying to the public: he was sacked from two different news papers for making shit up, the EU campaign was fought in large part on the back of an extremely misleading £350m figure, and he's mislead parliament as a PM several times.

This article paints him as a lovable tyke, and makes him seem like some kind of visionary by comparing him to Steve Jobs. It's an insane puff piece.

The BBC Response does not address the complaint, but dismisses it because others complained the other way.

How the might have fallen: Howard is too scared to address the scathing Post editorial

If you need more proof that The King (of All Media) is dead look no further than the events which transpired over the past week.

Maureen Callahan’s brilliant and well-received article “Howard’s End” went live last Wednesday at 6:00 AM. Howard goes on-air one hour later and doesn’t acknowledge the article, yet the of his voice seemingly sounds down - leading some to speculate that might have been affected by the negative article.

Others said that perhaps Howard taped Wednesday’s broadcast earlier in the week and waited for him to respond on Monday. Yet he never did.

If you needed more evidence that it’s over for Howard, look no further than how he didn’t even try to defend himself against a biting, well-articulated and seemingly true article.

The old Howard would have fought back. He at least would have made an attempt to respond on-air as he had in the past. But instead he doesn’t have the balls to defend himself against someone that basically punched him in the mouth - you know the same thing he spent 30 years criticizing others for doing?

So the “rebel rebel” that made a career out of being a bold, outspoken radio personality that “exposed hypocrisy” is too scared to address a columnist that cut him down to size in one of his hometown papers in the biggest media market in the US.

I can’t understand how his “millions” of fans on Sirius are cool with this.

The king is dead….long live the king of all media
