Barium Swallow showed inflammation of duodenum

I was convinced I had gastritis, and now know my duodenum is inflamed. The doctor said it is a slight inflammation.

I am waiting for an endoscopy/gastroscopy to find out the cause.

I tested negative for H.Pylori and have definitely abused NSAIDs in my life from trying to control endometriosis pain (I hate my life) so I think there are good chances it is acid-related but am weary I could've falsely tested negative for H.Pylori.

Anybody else has experience with duodenitis?

Hello. 18 y/o son just diagnosed with Crohns and duodenum ulcers. Starting remicade. Just kind of reaching out.

Hi, I guess my title says it all. My son has this per the colonoscopy/endoscopy he had this morning.

I joined up with this forum a week or two ago and I have to say the positive attitudes here are really just food for my soul. And the challenges I've read about are keeping me grounded in reality. So, thank you all.

I guess I don't know where to start. We have a follow up with the GI doc in a couple days. I don't even know what to ask.

I want to find him a therapist that he can talk to who understands this specific situation.

He's already challenged with autism and adhd-inattentive, depression, anxiety.

What should I ask his doctor, I guess is a good question for me to ask all of you...?

Thank you to anyone who's read this and understands.

Anyone have primarily upper GI Crohns? (Stomach/Duodenum) If so, what worked for you?

Been trying to heal ulcers in my stomach and duodenum for almost two years now. Insurance just approved Stelara, but i'm concerned because it seems like the mechanism of action is directed at the lower intestine. Humira didn't do anything for me either, and I finished a third course of PPIs with zero success and relief.

Blocked duodenum?

Can anyone shed light on what to look for? I'm hoping my mom gets feeling better. She's stage 4. I've googled the symptoms and I'm not sure if that's what she has. As far as I know, there's no vomiting or jaundice that I can tell. I hate that she is in so much pain and nothing seems to help. I guess part of this is me venting. It makes me so sad.

[36M] Gallbladder and perforated duodenum

Hi there.

I've been having significant discomfort that transitioned to pain in August. The discomfort began in May, but came and went. Came and went. I attributed it to diet and age. Finally, the discomfort became painful. I went to my doctor. He originally expected either an ulcer or gallstone(es). He did some percussive testing (I believe that's the name with precise pressure and a bit of force in key areas). There was no discomfort or pain that day. He jostled the bed I was lying on, which should have caused similar discomfort. He felt both his theories could be wrong.

I did an h. pylori test in September, then an ultrasound. A stone (5mm) was found. However, between the time of diagnosis and the surgery.. was too long. I was putting it off. I've had surgery before. It just scared me. Bad choice, I know. I definitely know. The pain, a week after scheduling, exploded. I'd had soreness on my left side, pain on the right. Now.. I would be walking and drop to my knees. I began only working from home. Lethargy and exhaustion had become my norm. I had to take a break from school.

My operation was Monday, expected to be 45 minutes to an hour. I woke up five hours later. Instead of one incision and the exit via the navel, I awoke to six and the exit. I had told my surgeon that I wasn't sure why the pain on my left was so bad, and the right was still consistent. He said he'd be looking around during the procedure. I had a gastric bypass 17 years ago, which makes scoping hard. But since he would be in the abdomen already, he'd try to check the left.

He didn't have to look. The gallbladder, upon peeling away from my intestine revealed a perforation of my duodenum. What I don't understand is pathology. An ulcer with a negative h. pylori test? An ulcer that formed later? I've got a drain presently, I'm on low-residue full liquids, drain comes out Friday (assuming there's no bile that shows up).

From what I understand, my previous bypass limits pathology, I just don't know if this was an uncontrollable problem, or if I did something. Ate something, did something wrong or too fast, too slow. My surgeon said it appeared to have happened not too recently, due to some kind of hard substance around the opening.

I know I'm asking a broad question, and I apologize. If I could narrow it down, I would. Whatever was done did eliminate internal pain. Now just the surgical pain.

Appreciate any thoughts.

Duodenal ulcers commonly arise in the "posterior" duodenum

I was unsuspending related cards in AnKing and found a card that says 'Duodenal ulcers commonly arise in the "ANTERIOR" duodenum'. But I was taught that most duodenal ulcers are on the posterior side. I looked it up on clinically oriented anatomy (what my school uses for their anatomy textbook) and it also agrees with what I was taught.

However, I looked at Pathoma GI pathology section (the card had tags for Pathoma section 10.4) and it says that it "usually arises in the anterior duodenum." I was wondering which one is correct?

Help needed. X-rays from Vet show a coin stuck in dog's duodenum, but the x-rays seems weird.

TLDR: Top and side view x-rays show the fully circular face of a coin stuck in dog's duodenum, which should be impossible (See x-rays). I suspect that the Vet placed the coin on the dog while taking each of the X-rays. How likely would a coin stuck in the duodenum appear as a full circle in both top and side views in x-ray?

My friend suspected that her dog swallowed two coins yesterday, 26 Dec 2019, at 11pm+. We rushed the dog to a 24-hours Vet clinic. The Vet induced vomiting on the dog but he said no coin came out with the vomit.

The Vet then x-ray'ed the dog. The top and side x-rays show a fully circular object in the middle of the dog's outline (See x-rays).

The Vet said that the coin was stuck in the duodenum, and suggested an endoscopy procedure to extract it. This procedure would cost SGD 4,000+ (USD 3,000+).

Given the high cost, my friend considered that the dog had swallowed larger objects and successfully pooped them out before, she decided to decline the procedure and took the chance that the coin would pass out of the dog naturally.

Today, I looked at the x-rays again and found that it is weird that the coin appeared fully circular in both the top and side views. The Vet said that the coin is stuck in the duodenum, so the coin shouldn't be free to flip about. If the coin was truly stuck in the dog, one of the x-ray would show the circular face of the coin while the other x-ray would show the edge of the coin. Or, both x-rays would show an oval if the coin was tilted in the dog somehow. It is impossible for both views to show the circular face of the coin.

And the coin seems to be in different positions relative to the rib cage.

Now, I suspect that the Vet placed the coin on the dog while taking each of the x-rays, hence the coin appeared as a full circle. He might have been trying to trick us into the endoscopy procedure.

My question is: How likely would a coin stuck in the duodenum appear as a full circle in both top and side views in x-ray?

I will greatly appreciate your opinions, from your experience in seeing x-rays of various objects stuck in human/animals.
