I love this community and all the apes that inhabit it. This sub is like an oasis in a desert of shit. Ape help ape. Ape no fight ape. APE TOGETHER STRONG. But sadly, after the drama in the last 24 hours, it seems every post has comments slinging shit at Warden. He fucked up. He knows it. The mods dealt with it professionally. Be like Elsa and "Let It Go!" WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS!
That is all.
TO THE MOON!

Edit 2: It wasn't Japan reinforcing this ban, it was IOC.
Edit 3:

Thanks u/Asper2002 for pointing it out!

Thatβs not to say that the bias confirmation helps, and itβs very educational and entertaining along the way; but being content and comfortable just patiently waiting is the norm and standard response to anything other than the MOASS.

It still brings me joy that people are bitching about that show to this day. Some folks take it a bit seriously.

Also a meat eater. My enjoyment comes from the eating, not the suffering. Will switch to lab grown soon as i can.
Sure, but the suffering is caused by your enjoyment
Your computer/phone caused suffering to children in mines and slaves in factories, I hope your enjoyment of Reddit makes you feel bad.
Yep. Sentient isnβt a moral term; thereβs no a priori reason to believe that eating a sentient being is necessarily immoral. The law tells us nothing new really.
Doesnβt stop vegans in this thread jerking off though.
If they are sentient beings would that prohibit the eating of beef lamb chicken pork and so on
no, humans are sentient but it is technically not illegal to eat a human
it's illegal to grow them in captivity and kill them for eating without their consent though, that much is for sure
such a stupid argument. What do you propose? We make farm animals illegal? then what? Cows, sheep, chickens ect will all be hunted to extinction in no time by 7,7 billion humans with high efficient hunting weapons. Make meat consumption illegal? get ready for riots, fights, and a MASSIVE black market for meat... I am all for animal welfare, but i refuse to give up meat.
Halal meat? Or does that subject somehow avoid being looked at again?
You mean when the cow has its windpipe slashed open then turned on its back so it's head can stare at the floor hanging from it's spine while gasping for air in agony?
Probably gonna upset some people so we won't look at that no.
According to the RSPCA, a majority (58%) of Halal meat comes from animals that were stunned before slaughter.
All Kosher meat comes from non-stunned animals.

Edit 1: Sorry, I missed a really crucial detail and that's the fact that Trainwrecktv, the guy who won $400k, actually had a gambling sponsorship according to Ludwig in this clip, whereas xQc didn't.
2 prominent streamers, Trainwreckstv and xQcOW, recently started gambling online (the site is called slots I believe) on twitch for content. Trainwreckstv started first, about 2 weeks ago, and hit a massive fucking $400k jackpot. That's right, USD400,000 (although hes still down 100k+ overall). Yesterday, the biggest streamer on twitch, xQcOW, also started gambling on the same site as trainwreckstv and ended up losing $30k with around 150k viewers watching. Trainwrecks I believe had around 20k viewers for his gambling streams. From what I've gathered, Trainwrecks actually had a gambling sponsorship whereas xQc didn't.
The drama starts when another big streamer/youtuber, moistcr1tikal (or Charlie), expresses concern about the rise in popularity of the gambling content, calling it dangerous: Clip
Some users agreed with critikal:
-[The exploitation metas are coming fast and furious. We went from the Pokemon boxes worth tens of thousands of dollars where everything was portrayed as being a PSA 10, so therefore being a great investment you would get your money back on. And now we see many of these same streamers, with audiences comprised primarily of younger people, dropping insane amounts of money casually into online gambling. β‘οΈ once again my thoughts on all this from one of the comments below:
βMy point is: most probably we will see institutional filings which are decreased in comparison to Dec 2020. So many people will use it to spread FUD and say that this indicates that shorts have covered. The point that they all will miss is that the institutional filings most probably will still be huge enough to show that if you add everything up (institutions, ETF, retail and brokers, insiders incl. Ryan etc.) we will be largely over 100% share ownership. Shorts never filed anything, but you can reverse engineer the positions through the long filings. And remember: there are no 13F in regards of retail which is estimated at tens of millions of shares AT LEAST.β
Iβm holding till I see oh shit money and then holding about 10% of my shares until they have closed the doors and shut the lights off handcuffed. All this drama makes me laugh because real diamond hands know whatβs up and the jokes on Kenny Mayo hands. Iβm just gonna sit back and watch the shit show. To the moon fellow apes πππΌπ¦ππππππππππ
As part of our last subreddit communication, we announced when drama threatened to take over the subreddit, we would contain it to a megathread so that the sub wasn't overrun by similar posts. This is one such case.
Short backstory: xQc has been banned from NoPixel after being arrested by a cop. The reason given by NoPixel isn't confirmed yet.
However, some clips that may have lead to the banning are:

Months ago I posted the news about this: (Not joking) University of Leicester to make redundant all pure math professors, here's what happened recently.
David Jordan (University of Edinburgh) explained in his article The End of Pure Mathematics in Leicester:
>I write to share the outrageous news that pure mathematics at the University of Leicester is in the process of being completely dismantled, effective April 28th. All eight permanent members of pure mathematics staff have been threatened to be laid off and replaced by three teaching-only staff. Ten members of the School of Informatics (Computer Science) with a focus on theoretical or foundational topics face the same threat. Administrators point to demand for teaching, research, and industrial partnerships in AI and data science, to justify dismantling theoretical research.
This can be found on AMS Notice, where you can also find the reprint of the official statement by London Mathematical Society.
Dr Alison Parker, associate professor in the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Leeds, resigns as University of Leicesterβs external examiner in pure mathematics, saying she no longer wishes to be associated with such a βuniversityβ. She has also donated her examiner fees from last year to the maths legal fund. Her resignation letter can be found here.
Timothy Gowers, who promoted this news since January, tweeted:
>A depressing (if expected) update to the petition page about mathematics and other departments at Leicester -- the compulsory redundancies have gone ahead. For what it's worth, there is now a #BoycottLeicester campaign.
The petition "Mathematics is not redundant" founded by "Leicester Mathematics" added recently:
>Management has an odd idea of "consultation", we need lawyers. Please DONATE TO THE LEGAL FUND.

Context: r/ABCDCircleJerk is a circlejerk subreddit based on r/ABCDesis, which is a subreddit meant for South Asians who live in Western countries, mostly the children of immigrants.
The word "fob" stands for "fresh off the boat", meaning recent immigrants.
r/ABCDCircleJerk user u//Grop3rCl3v3land makes a post saying "Arranged marriages in the west need to be banned".
The post ends by saying: Arranged marriages encourage the socially inept, uphold caste, and allows the rejects of society (like incels) to reproduce. It is a danger to our society."
It's worth noting that this user is the most frequent poster on the small circlejerk subreddit, keeping it alive.
A user says: Why is this white dude so opinionated on arranged marriages?, starts a long argument on whether u//Grop3rCl3v3land is secretly white or if they're brown. He claims: "I'm brown. I just like clowning on embarassing brown guys".
Same user replies later on: "Iβm not, but this guy is a clear larper. He seems obsessed with pushing this 'brown men are all dumb incels' thing".
Other user says:
I mean who actually is more destructive to society realistically?

... keep reading on reddit β‘On February 10, 2021, local police in Gumi City, South Korea received a call regarding the remains of a three-year-old girl. The call had been made by her maternal grandmother, identified by her surname Seok (then 48), and her husband as they were cleaning out an apartment unit that had once been occupied by Seokβs daughter, identified by her surname Kim (then 22) and her three-year-old, Boram.
Kim, a single mom at the time, moved to another apartment in early August to start a family with her new husband and left Boram behind. Kim would go onto give birth to a son later that month.
According to investigators, electricity at the apartment had been cut off since May 2020 due to unpaid bills and was in a state of disarray. Boram was found face down under a window in the bedroom. Due to the advanced state of decay, autopsy could not determine the exact cause of death. The three-year-old was presumed to have died sometime after Kim abandoned her, her body mummifying in August, summer heat.
After Kim was arrested for child neglect, the case took a bizarre turn.
DNA test revealed that Kim was NOT the three-year-oldβs mother. Though they were related, the test could not establish a mother-daughter relationship. In fact, Boramβs biological mother was her presumed maternal grandmother, Seok.
Kim and Boram were half-sisters.
The results were so shocking that Koreaβs National Forensic Service ran the tests three times before turning the information over to the police. It is presumed that the mother and daughter were pregnant and gave birth around the same time.
Records show that Kim was admitted to a hospital and a daughter was born on March 30th, 2018. Kim claimed that she was transferred to a birthing center to recover while her daughter was placed in the care of her maternal grandparents. However, her ex-husband testified that Kim immediately went to Seokβs home to recuperate while Seok took care of Kim's daughter.
Source: Uncovering the Truth (SBS)
Investigators assume that the switch happened at this time. Photo records show that while Kimβs daughter was born with a folded ear, the ear unfolds drastically within a month.
There are no records of Seok giving birth or receiving prenatal c
... keep reading on reddit β‘TW: this story mentions death. Nothing gory, but this is a dangerous hobby.
I have two major hobbies nowadays, chess and rock climbing. Since the one hobby has been featured here so much, I figured Iβd share one of my favorite sagas from the other.
What is alpinism?
Alpinism (or mountaineering) is pretty straightforward: itβs the sport of climbing mountains. This sort of thing has long captivated human attention, and most folks are at least somewhat familiar with it. Mt Everest regularly makes headlines, mainly for traffic jams and occasionally for notable new ascents.
In mountaineering, however, the biggest mountain isnβt really the most important. While Everest is absolutely an accomplishment (and the counter jerk against it goes too far, but thatβs another story), itβs more a question of stamina and high altitude fitness than actual technical difficulty. For a large mountain itβs actually rather attainable, which is part of why it has become so crowded.
For serious mountaineers Everest is worth doing, but it isnβt likely to be at the top of your bucket list. Great alpinists look to find unique paths (called routes) up technically challenging mountains. Sometimes, as with Everest or K2, part of the challenge comes from the thin air you find above 8,000 meters. Other times itβs down to the raw difficulty of the rock and ice that stands between you and the summit.
For many alpinists there are few peaks more iconic than Cerro Torre.
Meet Cerro Torre
Cerro Torre is a 3,128 meter (10,262 ft) mountain in Patagonia. There are two major ranges in Patagonia, the Fitz Roy range (which you may know from the Patagonia clothing companyβs logo) and the Torre Range. The Fitz Roy range, with Mount Fitz Roy standing properly in the center, is gorgeous. It dominates the landscape. Fitz Roy itself was first climbed by French alpinists in 1952.
Itβs said that when they reached the summit they looked out over the landscape, saw Cerro Torre and said βNow thereβs a mountain worth risking oneβs skin for!β
After their ascent they said Cerro Torre was impossible. For a serious alpinist, thatβs a challenge worth taking on.
Enter Cesare Maestri

We are all living through a time wherein lockdowns, mental health and financial problems are extremely relevant and should not be taken lightly. It's speculative to say something is going on at Theoatrix's side and I am by no means a psychologist. But... drama's like this show time after time that the worst kind of messages, death threats and other kind of words are displayed on social media. Making memes only adds to the fuel that is already in full gas mode. We should cut eachother some slack and stop ourselves from being toxic. Memes can seem harmless and fun, but it's also a circlejerking mechanism that confirms peoples bias or hatred for some person.
