[Discussion] Does reading the Web Novel diminish your enjoyment of the Anime?

So I love Re Zero's anime to death, the passion is as clear as day and I wait until it releases every week on the minute at this point. But sadly a lot of the WN readers like to lord it over anime only's, and it boiled over with me being spoiled. I thought I had resolve that, after season 2 finishes, I would just read the entire web novel and watch the anime as it releases.

But honestly thinking on it, I really would rather not, the voice acting, animation and soundtrack are what I love most about this series, along with the characters. I could surely enjoy the web novel, without question.. but is it worth diminishing the further enjoyment I receive through the anime?

I really just wish when I post, as an anime only, about a theory, or idea I have, that it wouldn't prompt 3 separate WN readers to come in and confirm or deny it. I guess another option is to literally not interact with the Re Zero fanbase at all.. but that's hard, as anyone who loves something, you know you like to share that with others.

Sorry, very ramble-y. Guess I'm just sad a sort of ultimatum was forced onto me about my absolute favorite series. I have a couple months to think my choice over before the end of season 2, at least, silver lining.

Some people just want to diminish what LOONA did this year

This is funny because this looks more like an army or blink complaint, but whatever.

I feel sometimes like a lot of people continue to diminish what LOONA did this year, and that annoys me a lot.

LOONA was literally the first non big3 girl group in the BB200 chart. The first non big3 girl group ! I’m not sure if you realize that they could do what only some legendary Kpop artists could do ! They were one of the best Kpop album sold worldwide, their international impact is literally unbelievable, especially when their company is not one of the biggest.

But each time we want to talk about their achievement, there are always people who want to come with the fact that their are not that successful in Korea. Yes guys, yes we know, but why always bring this argument ? Can’t we talk about what they achieved without always seeing that ?

I will add that they are getting better and better domestically. [12:00] was the first album to make Hanteo’s year end chart with 86 075 copies, and debuted as #4 on the Gaon Weekly Chart and #9 on the Gaon October 2020 Monthly Charts.

Yes, this is not enormous, but this is not bad at all. They grew a lot and will probably continue to grow.

So please, let people celebrate what they did without always bring what they didn’t accomplish yet.

In a new paper, S. Bobzien provides overwhelming evidence that Frege significantly and repeatedly plagiarized the Stoics. Does this diminish Frege's reputation and standing as one of the most important philosophers?

In her paper, Bobzien leaves very little doubt that Frege straight up plagiarized the Stoics without attributing them throughout his career to a degree that goes far beyond just being influenced or inspired. She lists over 100 parallels in content and formulation and provides additional evidence and circumstantial evidence that further collaborates her observation.

But Frege isn't just one of many philosophers, he's often credited with being one of the founding fathers, if not the most important one, of both analytic philosophy and first-order logic. He would probably appear on every "The most important philosophers" list. So this seems like a bombshell to me. Will this change how people look at Frege?

DAE parents just have to diminish and belittle anything you do?

I'm speaking as someone who has severe depression. It's better sometimes, but for most of the time, my energy is zapped. Couple that with anxiety, and you have someone who rarely has energy to do BIG STUFF. However, I try to pull my weight around the house, often doing more than the superficial cleaning my mother does, while complaining that nothing is clean and she's the only one who does ANYTHING.

So, I woke up with a plan today. I cooked, at her request, last night, and, of course, she complained about that, but that's not the point of this post. I spilled some sauce in the oven and it burned, so I decided I was going to clean it. I also got tired of all the piles of Tupperware we have in our large cabinet that is either cracked, missing tops/bottoms, or is destroyed from being in the microwave too often. This cabinet of Tupperware never gets cleaned or organized unless I do it. I also needed to get my dog some more food and a new bowl for him as he's getting bigger and the bowls he had as a puppy are getting too small. I knew my mother was going out, as she does every weekend, despite wanting everyone else to continuously stay in the house due to the virus, but again, not the point of this post.

She, as usual, acts as if she has nothing to do today and taking me somewhere is the biggest inconvenience ever (I cannot wait until the local DMV is doing behind the wheel tests again; I don't want her taking me anywhere because she uses it against me all the time), so has me direct her where to go. After I finish my own shopping and I tell her I'm done and could go home, now, she suddenly remembers all this stuff she has to do. She often does this to get me to come out with her, but that's another thing for another time. My tasks only took about an hour and a half, so the other three hours we were out was her roaming around to stores I had no desire to go in to (stores that weren't necessary, like the thrift store or a clothing store), so I sat in the car, which seemed to annoy her.

Finally, we get home. I put away my stuff and come back downstairs. I unpack all the new Tupperware, wash it (because it's been in the store and people have been touching it), and dry it. I then spray the oven with oven cleaner and let it sit since it says it must sit for two hours. I take out all the old Tupperware, match the pieces with their tops, and throw away anything that is cracked and destroyed. I also find that a lot of the Tupperware is still dirty and greasy. My

I can't leave church because it might diminish my career options and it makes me furious

I was born and raised in a rather catholic part of Germany, so I was baptized. My mom was more of a new ager, with reincarnation, karma and meditation so I never felt like a part of the church. While studying psychology, I replaced faith with science and am content with that. Now I look for jobs. And guess what. Churches in Germany have a lot of leverage. Many clinics are lead by either the catholic or evangelic church and in their job description "being part of christianity" "sharing christian values" and "leading a christian lifestyle" are a regular read. I wanted to leave church, not only because I don't believe in it but also because you need to pay church tax. But as I see it I could not work in any of those many many organizations (which are good places to work, don't get me wrong). Apparently somehow the churches weaseled themselves through anti-discrimination laws which prevent this in any other company and I am so disappointed in my country that this is legal.

Recognizing another's gift does not diminish mine.

In fact, I'd say it's just the opposite. If we can appreciate the gifts of others, that actually allows us to appreciate our own gift more. It reminds us that, ah, we're all unique, and there is nobody just like me. It makes what we are doing all the more special.

Why do we get so insecure then? I suppose it's because we're all taught from an early age to compete. We're taught that we're not good enough. So when we see somebody owning their gift, it triggers that wound in us. Instead of facing that wound and nurturing it with love, we lash out and try to drag others down with us.

It takes courage to let people shine. And it's the old saying: everybody is fighting a battle you know nothing about. What we see on the surface is not always the full story. So it's OK to extend compassion.

I am convinced that we all have a special gift to offer to this world. Some people are organizers, some are writers, some are artists, some are great thinkers. There is room for all of us; we all have beauty to offer to the world.

And if you don't know what your gift is, that's OK. The world needs people who are uncertain, too. It's the certain people (the religious, the greedy, the politicians, the ambitious...) who have plowed over others and caused so much destruction in the world.

In my experience, by extending love, by letting others shine, we, too, give ourselves permission to shine. And that's when our own gift becomes apparent, no matter how subtle it may be. Love doesn't always need to be loud.

My husband seems to purposely diminish everything I do

I got a dye cutting machine for Christmas, I absolutely love to craft and I was really excited to be able to do more. I have been showing my first couple projects to my husband, they weren't anything crazy but I was proud of them. I was very obviously excited and he wasn't, which was fine. I was still a bit giddy and said "I've found a new talent" and he said "yeah good job you can type things and hit print". After a few minutes I went and told him that I've designed the couple things I've made and it hurt my feelings that he said that. He asked if I drew them and I had said "no but I have to find the images and alter them then put it all together to make a visually appealing design" he then told me I was acting like a child who was showing their parent a shitty art project. I told him I was just excited and he said "yeah like a child". He then told me I was being annoying and to leave him alone. He can be a bit of a jerk sometimes and I guess I've always just wrote it off or blamed myself for whatever was happening. He frequently tells me I'm annoying and I definitely can be. But considering I haven't seen him at all today I know that I haven't been today. My feelings are really hurt and he doesn't seem to care. Actually he told me he doesn't care.

Some other things that may back this up include him telling me i don't do anything around the house, which is simply untrue. When I reply and tell him I do the dishes he tells me I don't do them, I just throw them in the dishwasher and they still come out gross. When I tell him I do the laundry he tells me he doesn't care and he would rather do his own. When I tell him I keep everything clean he tells me I just throw shit in the closet. The only time he ever makes me feel like I have accomplished something is when I do well in school.

I just feel so hurt and like I'm in a marriage where I care more about him and love him more than he could ever feel for me. The simple answer is divorce. The more complicated one? I'm not so sure.

Does regret diminish as kids get older and more self-sufficient?

For those of you that have older (toddler +) children, has your regret become more palatable over the years as they have gotten older? I'm in the midst of twin toddlerhood trying to hang on but I'm uncertain if the light at the end of the tunnel is just an illusion or not.

I realize things don't necessarily get 'easier' just that challenges are different over the years. I keep telling myself that I'll be a better parent when they can actually have a conversation and not flip out over every little thing. While my regret is deeply rooted and will likely be ever-present, I'm hoping life will become a bit better/easier at least.

In the real world if you are successful you are successful. However the old classic vision of the poor hating on the rich still goes on. The ones who manages to do the leap, observed, watched and learned the rich people’s mindset and will probably thrive. On the other side, the ones that are negative, complaining all the time about someone’s else wealth usually just end up frustrated.

For example, imagining a lot of our-universe horror it would seem honestly diminished. For example, if in a zombie film there were zombie elves. In some science fiction games, the absence of aliens (friendly ones) gives a sense of desolation, isolation, horror, and also a sense that humanity is weak, the prey. It can lessen the impact if other aliens are just as weak as us, disemboweled, blah blah blah; like sort of like a sympathy.

For anyone trying to diminish Lebron and the Lakers title run this season...

Assuming Lebron and the Lakers beat the Miami Heat, it would be the 3rd time out of 4 title runs he would have beaten at least 5 players who have made the All-NBA team that season. (2011-12,2015-16,2019-20)

For reference, only 1 out of Jordan's 6 title runs did he have to face 5 All-NBA players on his path to the championship. (1990-91)

Not trying to discredit Jordan at all, but i just want to clarify that anyone trying to argue the legitimacy of the championship this year and the so-called "cakewalk" the Lakers had to take on the way to a ring is just ridicoulous.

If you wanna know which title runs I think are the greatest title runs of all time, it's either the 2010-11 Mavs (defeated 7 All-NBA players, basically half of the entire All-NBA team not including himself) or the 1994-95 Rockets (defeated 6 All-NBA players including the top 3 teams in the west and the best team in the East)

Anyone else lose/diminish their smell and taste months after initial infection?

So I had COVID at the beginning of October (tested positive on 10/5).My only major symptoms were loss of taste and smell. About 2 weeks after my infection, my taste and smell came back. My taste was at about 80% and my smell was maybe at 60%.

Around December 20th, I noticed my taste start to weaken and get to a point where it’s essentially gone. I got tested when that happened and came back negative.

Now, just this Saturday, my sense of smell has really weakened, but isn’t totally gone. If I hold something almost against my nostrils I can smell it, but even still the smell is very faint. I can sometimes get a whiff of something in the air, but even that is super faint.

Has this happened to anyone else where your senses start to build themselves back up and be fine for a period of time and then months/weeks later they diminish or disappear again?

I’m worried I’m reinfected even though I have no other symptoms and wasn’t knowingly exposed to anyone who tested positive. I do have some congestion but I believe that’s attributed to the cold weather and the dry air in my home from our central heating. I tend to believe the congestion is caused by that because when leave my house the congestion disappears

Does your caffeine sensitivity stay high after the fast if you don’t over-consume coffee like me haha? At Which Period of time did the gods influence and interaction diminish?

Been trying to wrap my head around it all. I know we don't have a concise clear timeline. But I was wondering, when did the Gods/higher Supernatural beings be barred off from any interaction with the mortal realm? I know there were stories of Faeries and Gods during the time the original Merlin had been alive (300-400AD). So it seems like the rules gradually got tighter and tighter after Christs's death. The Greek Gods had majority of their power for 700BC - 300AD with the rise and fall of the Roman Empire. I know some gods can shed their immortality and a lot of their power to interact with the Mortal realm current day, somewhat similar to Odin.

I am just confused. At which point did things turn and was it a slow decline or more so of an instantaneous one?

Does the series lore and worldbuilding enhance or diminish your enjoyment of the games?

One of the great things about this series is that every game exists in it's own handcrafted world and pocket of time making every journey into Hyrule a new one, with new towns, ruins and dungeons from ages past. Though Hyrule changes, the story's mostly the same, revolving around our Hero Link, the Princess Zelda, and Ganon.

One of the other great things is that every title --even the direct sequels-- doesn't need you to play a previous entry to understand things due to Nintendo's approach to accessibility and gameplay first.

That being said, Hyrule has a history. Where did the Master Sword come from? There's an answer for that. Why's every Princess named Zelda? One for that too. What's Ganon's deal? What happened to Ganondorf? But first lemme talk about parallels universes. alternate timelines.

For all the answers we have, the mysteries outnumber them still and in series like Zelda, that makes them all the more alluring.

But for some, the games are best enjoyed as singular experiences, free from the constraints of a timeline.

Does the lore do anything for your enjoyment of the games or is it something extraneousΒ that constrainsΒ the devs?

(Good thing, Vit C for example when taken from food sources such as strawberry has no any negative effect) That's really bad, because exercise is among the best actions you can take when it comes your health and brain. It really outclasses those supplements and there's no reason to waste your benefits of exercise for a couple of supplement which is probably not even more efficient in first place.

For example, NAC produces amazing effects for some and yet it's a very counter productive supplement for regularly exercising people. . https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/98/1/233/4578325

I'm using alpha lipoic acid for now and wonder if same thing goes for it too.

Yes, having a strong password will effectively secure your account, but that shouldn't diminish the importance of 2FA

This is in response to the announcement posted by the mods earlier this morning regarding security and the importance of having a strong password in order to safeguard against hackers. I would like to commend the mods for taking the time to address this issue and push important facts to disprove a lot of the misinformation that has been floating around this sub for the past couple weeks. Posts with faked screenshots and calling for miHoYo's blood only hurt discussion on this topic, and I'm glad the mods are taking a stance to reduce them.

However, some of the conclusions made in the post worries me as it may stifle pushes for miHoYo to implement security up to acceptable standard.

I would like to make two points on this issue:

1. 2-Factor Authentication should not be treated as a 'nice to have'.

From the post:

> When people bring up 2FA or MFA, most of the time they mean adding multi-factor authentication at login time. This is a very effective layer of additional security on top of passwords. However despite popular belief, it is not required for good account security if strong password practices are adhered to.
>
> But there is little controversy that this is one item that Mihoyo can, and should implement in the near future. However its absence at the current time does not mean your account is at active risk.

Having a system's security rely solely on the trust that users will adhere to good password practices is inherently flawed. If there is anything the past 2 decades of internet use has taught us, it's that people are really, really stupid when creating and maintaining passwords. Internet users have demonstrated that they prefer convenience over security, and this has led to issues such as weak passwords or password reuse. Spreading knowledge about the importance of good password practices will help make your system more secure (as the mods have with their PSA), but there is absolutely no guarantee that every user within the system will adhere to said practices. Thus, for the system to be truly secure, you must force security within the system itself so that every user will be required to set up good security for their account. Strong password practices may strengthen security individually, but the system as a whole will suffer as you cannot be certain every user will follow the practices by simply telling them to do so.

There is a reason why websites force you to include numbers, symbols, etc. in your passwords.

Did you see your dogs excitability diminish with age?

Obviously, training is a factor as well, but i'm curious as to how age influenced interest in other dogs, people, etc.

My dog is 2 - 3 years old (unsure, she's a rescue) and I always wonder if part of her frustration based reactivity is also because she's young. I train super diligently, give her lots of outlets for exercise, but am looking for a bit of hope that one day she'll just be less interested in the dogs we see on the sidewalk.

For context, she is basically perfect after she's had a visit to the dog park, so I know often she just wants to play. We still do LAT and 123 pattern games on every walk when she sees other dogs.
