I've just finished a marathon of submarine films, and a very common scene is where the submarine gets absolutely smashed by depth charges while just sitting there unable to do anything. (No idea how realistic this is by the way)
Which got me thinking, why weren't there any torpedo bays that could shoot upwards? Or floating bombs that went straight up? Like a reverse depth charges that exploded as they got within a few feet of the surface.
They could have released a volley of them and blown the destroyers out of the water, with a bit of luck.
Any reason this type of attack wasn't invented or wasn't possible?
The battle pass, I do not understand why this requirement was added. I've been beating my head against the wall basically since the start to figure out how to get this kill. Not enough ships have them at low enough BRs to really make it doable. Or am I missing something?

If any Gaijin employees are reading this, I am being very restrained here by saying that this task is unneccesarily frustrating, and is actively harming an already barely played gamemode.
The torpedo task was alright, but this sorry excuse for a requirement was as good an idea as brushing your teeth with brake fluid.
I was watching March Madness the other day and noticed the song playing in the arena had the exact same melody as Depth Charge. It sounded like a relatively old hip-hop/rap song. Unfortunately I didn't record it, sorry. Would love if anyone knows what I'm talking about.
I'm really struggling here. Been trying this one for a few days and I cannot see a ray of hope for me. I take the Pr123k but I don't know how I'm suppose to do this since I keep getting nuked from 3km out by AI gunners. I simply cannot get close enough. Even using islands as cover, as soon as they round the island or I break cover I'm getting instantly trash canned by secondaries.
I've been doing realistic battles and it's not making a difference as far as I can tell (AI doesn't care if there's a red box around me or not).
Am I missing something? What am I doing wrong and how can I over come this?
I just got a depth charge kill with the tier three Type 1936A (the battlepass reward) but it didn't count towards the "Citius, Altius, Fortius" battlepass challenge that requires a depth charge kill.
Is this a bug or intentional? Which ships do count?
ive gotten two depth charge kills against enemy ships including a destroyer with the rank three s100 and it hasnt counted towards the battle task for the battle pass anyone else having this issue? im wondering if the rank three s100 is broken in counting towards it its getting extremly frusturating as its the only rank three fast boat i have that gets depth charges and if it is bugged its a major fricken problom
Are ships the only vehicles with depth charges? I have the whole American air tree and most of the german air tree. I also have several rank 3 American ships but they don't have depth charges.
